With a single car crash DUI and it being her first I'd bet my left nut she'd only gotten 12 months probation after being bailed out after the DUI arrest. It's usually just a fine, forced alcohol counseling, loss of license for 6 months and maybe forced SR22 insurance. I totally agree with this statement right here! So many other creators will all do the same stories and it gets old. Which is sad to say because they are sharing peoples worst moments of their lives. I think it would be better to share cases that aren’t necessarily “popular” because all victims deserve to have their stories told.
"That Chapter" posts current cases too. I haven't heard about a lot of the cases he talks about. I want to say he's from Scotland - but he apparently uses an original search to find the U.S. cases he reviews. I binge watched (listened) to a lot of his cases.
He didn’t ask her what’s behind her back bc she was yt.. that’s why that happened to him.. not bc hes a kid.. he would’ve been more suspicious of her if she had skin pigment
Seriously? I'm not a police officer, and even I knew the young woman was hiding something in her hands. 3 Red flags. 1. She tried walking away. 2. She initially hid her hands behind her back and stated that she was scared. 3. When told to walk in front of the officer, she suspiciously transitioned her hands quickly to her side, then in front of her when walking up the stairs. Right then and there I would got some distance and told her to put her hands in the air.
to be 'fair' at that point, she was viewed as somebody who just walked away from a nasty car crash, maybe he wasnt expecting any violence from her because she looked visably shaken, not really wearing that much and just went through something tramatic. i can see him mentally letting his guard down for that. he messed up for sure, but its not like they were looking for a murder suspect.
Also she wasn’t wearing much and not one witness said she was carrying a knife or retrieved a knife from her car. He just thought she was injured and high on drugs. Plus when someone says they are scared and you aren’t sure what they are running from you don’t want to intimidate them more or scare them even more.
she was clearly hiding something behind her back and then quickly put it in front of herself when going up the stairs, he should have asked to see her hands?
A man wouldn't have been allowed to keep his hands out of sight. She was treated with trust but should have been treated the same as a man. The officer's prejudice nearly cost him his life.
Yeah seems a bit much. I have seen lower sentences of actual premeditated murders. Looked like she was on drugs or had some kind of mental episode, doesn't seem premeditated.

The cop let his guard down because he was dealing with a "damsel in distress" . He saw the skimpy clothing and felt like he could save her. He never once instructed her to show him her hands. He's lucky to be alive as it could have been worse

Here is the thing guys, the officer believes her to be the driver of the accident. How the hell did she fully destroy this car, yet had the wherewithall to retireieve a knife she had in her car, as I don't think she was carrying it on her person. The cop sees a female, almost naked with no shoes and he isn't going to presume she has a weapon on her, he was using his emapthy. She either is suffering psychosis or is on meth and alcohol. Meth causes this all the time!!! This is last time he will ever not command hands up, of this I am certain. A lesson was learned here for many.

That wasn't necessarily faking, the office noticed her eyes were pinpoint. She could have been on drugs and disoriented. The rest of this whole video was 100% cringe tho.

@@derbyct864 I think you misunderstood Leasha's comment. I had the same question she did - why did they not ask why she was carrying a blade? She sounded genuinely horrified she'd stabbed someone, yet she was carrying a knife. The comment is not about why the officer didn't check her for weapons, it's about the interrogation after. Mind you, we only saw a few minutes of the questioning, I guess they could have asked why she was carrying. But I'd like to have seen her try to answer that question, for sure!

Yeah I'm completely shocked she landed on a life sentence, her lawyer had to be working against her or something. Like you said a lot of murderers don't even get sentenced to life and instead get 40 years or something, but she got life for attempted and somehow landed it being ruled premeditated too.
“Life in prison” means little without the parole eligibility attached. For example “life in prison with a 14 year parole eligibility” means a person can be out after serving 1/3, 1/2 of their sentence depending on area.
In time she will be rehabilitated and giving a chance same as God's forgiveness that is what the world 🌎 is drifting apart of love and forgiveness. Jesus Christ is the only way.
When people whine about cops being jumpy, this is why they have to be wary of everybody- complacency kills. He was responding to a car accident, not a crime. She seemed shaken, which would be pretty normal after a serious crash. She not appear to be aggressive, she was scantily clad so you know she wasn’t hiding weapons in pockets, her pose at first with her hands behind her back would not be unusual for somebody who is injured, and he was actually able to see both of her hands at one point - but just briefly, and in the dark, the knife would’ve been very difficult to. As you’re watching this video, you _know_ that something bad happens so you’re looking for it. The officer doesn’t have that advantage. The footage makes for an excellent training video specifically _because_ it is an incident in which many officers would be caught unexpected.

This happened in my county, and I'm pretty familiar with the road this happened on. It's one lane and each direction with practically no shoulder, narrow, and decently low speed. It's generally pretty peaceful here (yes, even in Florida), but brother seriously fucked up by not asking to see her hands...very clear she was on something. Thankfully, Lawnwood is a fantastic trauma hospital.
I-drive is a really scenic road too, theres some really wild looking houses if you're heading towards Ft. Pierce... growing up in one of the neighborhoods behind i-drive i always thought how easily someone could potentially end up in the water bc theres no shoulder on the causeway side of the road. And maybe its relatively "peaceful" but whenever PSL or the county ends up in the news its almost ALWAYS for some wild unbelievable shit like this 😂😅
Cases like this are why it gets annoying when I see ppl comment about cops being so paranoid and extra careful even with small women and teenagers. Up close knife beats gun most times. Especially if it's a sneak attack. She did this to the cop to get out from getting in trouble. She thought she could kill the cop and get away from her DUI accident she just got into. Plain and simple.
@@ang_ro I mean TBH eve na layman can tell that this policeman was distracted and not doing his job properly. I knew this girl. She used to work at Crafty Crab in Palm Bay some years back, and was genuinely sweet and really nice. She had much shorter hair back then and was a bit of a hippy type. I honestly think she was in complete shock from the crash and having some kind of mental episode here, and that led to her not thinking at all straight when she made the incredibly dumb decision to lash out. Not saying that it's a valid excuse at all though as she did almost kill someone just doing their job.
Something about this woman sends chills down the spine. I know she was in a bad place at the time of the incident, but even after that.. its evident she has some serious untreated mental health issues, possibly with a predilection to violent/dangerous/risky behaviour. Hope she gets years of proper psychiatric care, therapy, and medication while serving her sentence.
I didn't see enough signs of that to come to that conclusion. She might have been on something. But if you are right, her mental illness manifests in murderous violence. She couldn't ever live unsupervised again in that case.
Agree, my first thoughts went to what might have happened prior to her irratic driving. This plus the stabbing from the officer, made me think she was fleeing from a murder she committed prior to the driving. But maybe I'm watching to much true crime😅.
He put others in danger... What if, due to him being a simp, the woman ran away and stabbed that innocent old couple sitting on the deck... If she was a man the 1st thing he would have said "show me your fucking hands"... I bet she wishes he did that so she didn't end up spending the rest of her life in jail.
He was supposed to keep his distance he was supposed to ask her to show her hands holding your hand behind your back normally means your hokding something if the cop did his job correctly he wouldnt of been in a position to be stabbed in the first place

I think the detectives did try to establish that she REMEMBERED the incident and the details since she was acting like she wasn’t aware of anything. They did a good job in my opinion
Lol
Plain and simple.
both hands behind her back, runs and hides both hands in front of herself, but yes let's walk up to her
You, of course, would have handled the situation so much better. 🙄
She's barely clothed and just ran from a vehicle. Let's not blame the victim.
@@ang_ro I mean TBH eve na layman can tell that this policeman was distracted and not doing his job properly. Personally i think he had his eyes up and down her bits'n'pieces and disregarded his safety. Its not blaming the ghuy to say he should've had the training to know this distance was not safe with her behaviors.
@@ferraroannie4058 Indeed.
@@Bettinasisrg fr what was she GOING to do if they didn't find her
I knew this girl.
Brevard county in the house
I hate it when people use mental illness as an excuse. That's just a get out of trouble, feel sorry for me crap so I can do it again.
Her eyes in that photo sent chills down my spine. Creepy.
Fat chance of that happening, sadly
I didn't see enough signs of that to come to that conclusion. She might have been on something.
But if you are right, her mental illness manifests in murderous violence. She couldn't ever live unsupervised again in that case.
Agree, my first thoughts went to what might have happened prior to her irratic driving. This plus the stabbing from the officer, made me think she was fleeing from a murder she committed prior to the driving. But maybe I'm watching to much true crime😅.
I agree, and it’s nice to see some empathy here. I see a very traumatized person here.
Mind blown, seeing a cop potentially face legal issues over NOT escalating the situation. Honestly terrifying.
I'm sure there were protocols broken that led to the stabbing incident
He put others in danger... What if, due to him being a simp, the woman ran away and stabbed that innocent old couple sitting on the deck... If she was a man the 1st thing he would have said "show me your fucking hands"... I bet she wishes he did that so she didn't end up spending the rest of her life in jail.
He was supposed to keep his distance he was supposed to ask her to show her hands holding your hand behind your back normally means your hokding something if the cop did his job correctly he wouldnt of been in a position to be stabbed in the first place
legal issues ? what in tf are you talking about ??
@@obie224 i think they're referencing the use of force investigation although im not sure exactly if that does count as a legal issue
The ending floored me.. she got life!?!?!?! 🤯 Her attorney must've been worthless.
I know, so many people get less than 10 years for actual murder.
It was a cop.....
Attempting to kill someone doesn’t qualify for a life sentence? Couldn’t disagree more.
Rightfully so, she attacked the state/people.
She broke the white code
RIP officer Cody, I have to say this is one of the coolest intros ive seen on youtube feels a bit inappropriate saying it to this tragic video but it needed to be said.
So many unanswered questions in this case. Was she drunk? On drugs? Did she just have a fight with a boyfriend/girlfriend? Fight with a family member (parents/sibling)? Problem(s) at work (fired)? This story just feels so incomplete.
Drivers near her said she was speeding and driving erratically....probably high.
Sounds like she's crying over a DUI.
Who cares honestly. She put so many people in danger. Excuses for major shit like this is pointless, we don’t need to accommodate for people like this.
@@Beefystew101 , really good point. lawyers ,their fame, the money involved etc. have all made us really warped on what pure justice/sentences/courts are for.
they didn't smell alcohol.
Probably the worst integration I've ever seen!
Yeah, the female detective had no strategy whatsoever and the guy wasn't much better.
She’s fully integrated now so i dont see how you could think that
These detectives suck🤣😳
That doctor is a miracle worker. It was ingenious for him to think of using part of a vein from his leg and apply it to his neck. WOW. Glad the deputy survived, sorry that this happened. I can't even begin to imagine what he and his loved ones (including his fellow officers) were thinking.
That person (not saying her name) is disgusting and vile. She got into an accident and then ran, I don't know how or why she thought stabbing a police officer was going to get her out of anything.
She was fairly scantily clad, without what seemed like anyplace to hide a weapon of any magnitude.
Not judging him by anymeans but him not asking for her to show her hands, him not patting her down, and him not cuffing her nearly cost him his life.
Thank goodness he survived.
My deceased husband was in law enforcement for 40+ years, and dreading the thought of getting "that call" was always stressful.
May God bless and watch over the men and women in blue.
I'm not sure why anyone goes to work in law enforcement nowadays.
The work environment is consistently awful, and it's more dangerous than ever.
That’s why most people clicked on this video
She was afraid of going to jail for a few days, so she makes sure she does something that will put her away for life. Insane.
The male cop doing the interrogation at the end has a wicked scar across his head. I wonder what his story is
I wondered the same.
Shaving accident! 😂😂😂
Brain transplant
Probably got cut by something....
I'm paraphrasing...
Wow I didn't know u could harvest veins to use 😱 Dr's are amazing
That sheriff officer´s haircut looks like Kim Jong Un´s.
😂😂😂 Exactly!
😂😂😂 got that brush on his head
and those jowls...strange look for a cop.
