My friend brought this bottle out for his bachelors party. His grandpa had given it to him to pop open before he got married. Was a special experience, thanks for the great video.
the first time I experienced John Walker and Sons King George V was after a small drink through with some friends of mine. I bought a bottle of King George and we started on some 18 year and moved to the Blue Label and finished on the King George. You could absolutely taste the difference in them as you moved up the ranks. It's such a wonderful whisky and that's probably why I've bought 5 additional bottles of King George through the years. If you haven't had the chance to enjoy the 28 year Bicentenary Blend, I would highly recommend. It's even better than King George!
The first bottle of King George I bought was $299. The second two bottles were $350 each. The two bottles after that were gifted to me. I don't think I would purchase King George above $400.
I would have to take issue with your comparing this with some Single Malts. Those are pure expressions of the Distiller's craft, their sourcing of raw materials, and their ability to evaluate and select barrels. But in some ways it is easier to master one's own product. Blends might be tougher. While they aren't making their own product they need to source, select and blend the product of multiple other manufacturers. And year to year, they need to compensate for sourcing inconsistencies. A soloist v. a conductor. The better question might be how this compares to some of the other high end blends, like Royal Salute 38YR. Or for a future comparo, how about JW-Blue v. Royal Salute 21. At least in my area, those are roughly equally priced. And for blend fans, particularly those overseas, those two are like the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry.
Would have to agree here. I used to be a JW fan absolutely through and through. Then I dabbled in some single malts and after buying almost $30,000 in just single malts, I'm absolutely a single malt fan. Actually, after drinking so much single malt scotch and going back to a glass of Blue Label, I daresay it's..... I won't finish that because of my love for JW but I genuinely didn't even remotely love it as much as any single malt I had over the last 3+ years.
Green label was my favorite in the line up. Naturally they discontinued it and brought it back at a higher price point. Their marketing decided to walk on my wallet.
Gotta put Johnnie Walker Legendary Eight in that lineup if you do another walk though. $350 a bottle with some ghost distilleries in the blend. I killed it one night with friends playing poker. We were all blown away similar to your reaction to this.
To buy this at that price it is obviously to flex, the liquid is only 1/3 of the price, the rest is the packaging and the marketing wank, JW marketing department is the best in Scotch for adding price to products that are not in the quality bracket that the price point is.
To me this seems like a bottle you buy as a gift or for a special occasion. Is it the best whiskey available for your $ maybe not? But it’s certainly and experience and one to be shared
That's my No1 favourite "mums spaghetti whisky".....and it's JOHN WALKER.....(not Johhny Walker)🤔.....high price is probably due to Luxury import Taxes!!!!!!🤢...... Should start with burbons...and a Biryani 😊👍🏻❤️🤩.....King George V whisky is STONKINGLY GOOD with Biryani 😊👍🏻❤️🤩😍🥰..
I find the tenor of the review interesting. It must be hard to review the top of the line of any product and feel disappointed, but hesitant to show it. Hard to be up front on a product line that has so large a following. Jules defined JW perfectly early in the video. C'mon Dillon, with all of the different Scotch you have, how often do you reach for a JW product ? I am not saying this to sound belittling towards what JW is, I do often wonder what those people who spend thousands on some of the Bourbon out there feel when after the purchase they find that their usual go to $50 brand is better.
Knowing the results of the later taste test, makes this more interesting.

Looks like a perfect bottle for the drop test ! lol
Grab up a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet and start a battle of the heavy weaponized Scotch corks.
Wow what a box and bottle! Very cool. Another excellent edition of Curiosity (the) Public

I’ve been drinking this bottle for the past 15 years. I’ve gone through about 12 bottles and it’s probably one of the best. Delicious.
Now that's loyalty and dedication!!!
“Like a elegant dessert”
Cue the ding dongs and ho-hos!
Better or worse than Tears of Llorona is the question we're all asking
Gold or 18 are on my list to buy soon. I may have to rewatch your drink through again first. I really enjoy Green Label though.
Green label was my favorite in the line up. Naturally they discontinued it and brought it back at a higher price point. Their marketing decided to walk on my wallet.
Honestly I think Green could give this a run for its money
Where is Mr. Dillon??? Was this bottle not worth of his presence? 🤔
Great presentation. I’d buy it just for the box and bottle. Especially the Lunar New Year’s edition!
you guys should to a blind tasting with the the JW line up maybe from the Green Label and up.
Update: They did this from the gold label up and the gold label won the whole show.

How would this compare to Macallan Rare Cask or Glenmorangie Signet?
Rare cask 2020 is more enjoyable....I have yet to try Signet
makalan? holy shitballs everytime he says it i feel an adder in mye about to pop
Amazing video!! Pappy 23 next?! Jk great content as always guys 👌🏻
I have had Pappy 20 and 15 and both were more amazing than this....I just had King George based on this suggestion and i am highly disappointed
@@royn8032 well those are bourbons and kgV is a scotch..
@@adamj196 I was really more just emphasizing how I was disappointed in the $400 price point for KGV

No Mr. Dillon?

I'm sorry, but I don't have friends worthy of a $600 gift.
Maybe if my best friend cured cancer, the common cold and found the Holy Grail.
Maybe
This is NOT worth $400 let alone $600
Baller Blind Challenge!
That bottle!!✨😁🏆🥇.........(buy it ,when you can find it discounted 👍🏻😁).....YES!!...."The Carpenters cup" - Indiana Jones ✝️.
If you look at the book it has a sash also! Great review
Can you add some gum acacia to the Costco scotch and serve it to Dillon in a blind? I feel like he would lose his mind over the mouthfeel
600? Where did u buy it at lol jesuss I got mine for 299 at a liquor store in jersey last year
Is this really a $600 bottle? Seems like it’s readily available for $300 or so.
$600 is way too high for this bottle. It goes for 300-350.
@@andyliu2432 800$ canadian in Montreal, Quebec
Exactly I got mine for 299 I live in New York for 600 you could have gone for a higher tier version of thier collection

My reference malt for "velvet" would be Glenfiddich - i get it all the way down to the 12 year old.
Wow when you really think about it you are right...Glenfiddich 12 has more mouthfeel than King George V John Walker, unbelievable!
Was not impressed, not for $$$
What's impressive for that price?
