Nokomisclub This behavior is really strange. But the industry is used to. Some countries in the world require the indication of color on the back label. Due to the Internet this coloring is now slowly but constantly spreading over the word. I would guess, that 95% of the whisky bottles on the shelves of your local dealer are colored. If it is not positively stated on the label (uncolored), then the chances are high, that the bottle is colored.
That's exactly right, Heywud. Darker colors give the impression of the whisky being older, which in turns makes people think of higher price tags, higher quality, and better taste. It's marketing crap which real connoisseurs don't fall for, but which "most" casual whiskey drinkers seem to appreciate.
Say what you will, but most people would not like it if it was light color. It has nothing to do with quality, but we have been conditioned to think that. So it's not the distiller's fault, but the consumer's. And pointing out which one is caramel colored is unfair to the distiller, because they would lose to those 'naturally' colored, even if they are better quality.

I would LOVE to try and bottle of either this or normal Blue Label, I had never tried Johnny Walker before just the other day actually when my stepdad bought a bottle of Johnny Walker green label. But the MOST I have EVER paid for a bottle of Whiskey was like $130 for a bottle of Crown Royal XR back when I was in the Army and stationed in Germany, I had plenty of "disposable income" back then and was a BIG whiskey drinker then. I ALWAYS had a bottle of really good whiskey on hand in my barracks room....lol.
Smart suit, would be better suited for the occasion. Besides, it's a royal whiskey tasting! Probably the matching hat would give a royal note to the presentation! I don't pick up on any of the notes that other reviewers have stated but I certainly don't regret the experience of trying it. Keeping in mind I've had maybe 6 to 8 glasses max. I purchased a case at a fairly deep discount. I read up on the reviews however that did reflect on whether I would be buying but wanted to see what the word was. I am VERY disappointed. I see and taste nothing special about this item. Its is not at all smooth, and right from the very first sip it has a very spicy, fair amount of smoky leather, and quite briny taste. No real chewy mouth feel. and is NOT better than the JW Blue. Fruit minor at best but I dont really taste it. Vanilla no. Spicy oaky wood yes. You can tell its not that old by the power of the Scotch` harshness. There is just nothing special about this over priced bottle....Sorry.

It’ll definitely increase in value simply because of the rarity but the question is by how much and also how long will it take? For a long term ‘investment’, say at least 20 years then it’ll be worth it imo.
+UNC Tarheels Because the law states that you should mention the youngest whisky in the blend... this could be a 6 year old whisky, that wouldn't look nice on a expensive bottle such as this.
Because a blend is only as old as is the youngest whiskey used in it... So yes if it was a 6yo, theyd have to put in a 6yo age statement. In general not a good idea to put an age statement to a blend if all the whiskies used arent old.

I think it's just a critic thing..applies on critics and reviewers of anything and everyting..they focus on the details trying to figure out the formula so hard that more often than not, they forget to enjoy it. There is no enjoying of the product they're consuming, only ok..there's this..oh..ok..a hint of that..yes there might be this and that but why won't you enjoy it..it would tie you to our end of it..I'm guessing most reviewers and critics get into doing so in their fields for the sheer love towards whatever they review..just saying..views on this might differ..or maybe it's just me the odd one out..
Johnnie Walker Black label, Gold label reserve and Platinum label are all there is. As good as Whisky can get. Had the privilege of tasting Blue Label once, didnt find anything strikingly different or outstanding. Pure hype. Glennfiddich 18 years is also very good.
Arnab Jyoti Das try it. 12 is the low end however it tastes and smells better than some of the 18 and 21 year olds. It has 3 types single sherry oak double cask or triple. I prefer the single sherry oak natural color. I live in Los Angeles and at this time Macallan is the drink for everyone. Now if u want something more sophisticated I would recommend Macallan 18. It’s about $330 here in California. That’s a different ball game. I can’t think of any other scotch that will come close to Macallan 18
It makes zero sense to add coloring to a crazy expensive whiskey as this..which means to me that they are blending young whiskeys and adding god knows whatever artificial flavors for characteristics to ride the hype out to justify the cost
Very knowledgeable, but for someone with misophonia, which is where one can't stand the sounds of chewing/lip smacking/excess saliva, it was difficult to watch. Aside from that, respect is deserved for this Master Taster.
There was Bryan Davis from Lost Spirits distillery who experimented with accelerated aging and other gimmicks, you can read all about it. I have heard that the results were mixed - some liked his stuff, some hated it. A Ferrari for 300k drives also from A to B only. And it is hard and loud and uncomfortable and due to the speed limits not faster than a Chrysler 200. But it is sold in small quantities and people like them.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label is more affordable than the King George, but in terms of taste, both are excellent blends.

Its not rare at all. It can be found in all major airports in some box variations. I would guess the number of bottles are in the tens of thousands.

30ml per day. Beyond that it's always going to have some effect. You could go the army way with 60ml thrice a week.
