Still got a while to go so it will stay in the bottle for another 14 more years. 😆 I myself have never had it but I plan to buy a 3rd for myself to try it for the first time.
The best in the world, "Johnnie Walker's Blue Label". A "black label Johnnie Walker" I take it, but when it's something special I drink a "Blue Label", it's an elissir and the other is a whiskey, one is taken and the other is savored. The "black label" one is for drinking, strong, after six, and the "Blue Label" is for any time, You can take it in the morning and you will never get heartburn, gastritis, anything. Ah man thank you that's awesome to know 😁 Exactly! If you focus purely on the dram it's beautiful but we can't separate the price from it so I get the hate.
Agree. It's 100% because of the price. JW Blue is amazing. I've given it to people who claim to hate whiskey and scotch and suddenly they don't mind it. It's the smoothest scotch I've ever had.
The greatest joy is when i was drunk from blue lable and the abillity to smell alcohol was redused, i could better smell the flavor of this whiskey, so amzing, yes it worth the prise !
I got a sample for 18.00. I was very impressed. Very complex, smokey, really well-balanced. Great nose. Amazing finish and linger. I won't be able to buy it, but damn nice stuff.
I have a question for y’all. I’m not very in to whiskey but i really like drinking it. Do you guys know a stunning whiskey under a 100 bucks which i should try? Because there are so many i don’t know where to begin. Already tasted the classics like JW red and black label and Jack daniels as well as tallisker the normal one iguess. Maybe if you have any suggestions please let me know!
Hi very good question. There are a few videos on RUclips regarding this question. You can also watch my recent video of 1 whisky per region challenge to see if any of them help you. I would recommend the Glenmorangie core range, especially the Lasanta, Quinta Ruban and Nectar to see if you like any of these sweet wine effects. Glenallachie 8 or 12 are also quite sweet and easy sippers. If you like your smoky peaty whiskies, many of the core ranges from Laprhoaig, Ardbeg and Kilchoman are great under 100. If you like a bit more lighter side without too much sherry or smoke influence, Glencadam or Tomintoul would be a good place to start also Lindores Abbey, Glasgow 1770 are good Lowlanders. So many options depending on what your go to taste is. Hope this helps
Is this the first time you tried it? I spy with my little eye another bottle in your collection top right of screen. I always thought people drank this stuff with ice? Can you comment on that?
No not the first time. One of my best friends absolutely loves this stuff so whenever I visit him I drink it there and yes I do have another one :) Well you 'drink' your whisky however you want. With or without ice, as a mixer, however. This one can handle a bit of ice due to the high malt content but being 40% it's very easy to drown it if you put too much. For tasting though you kinda need to have it neat or with some water to dissect the taste profile and notes. Hope this helps, cheers 🥃
If it's a bottle your grandmother purchased back in the 90's it might worth something but if it's a modern bottle gifted to you then I'd say just enjoy the taste. They produce so much Blue Label, it's hardly going to be a collector's item, especially the standard ones. Hope this helps, cheers!
I don't care what anyone says, Johnnie Walker Blue is worth the price and hype it gets. Personally, it's the best scotch I've ever had and I've been drinking scotch for almost 20 years. JW Black is amazing as well. I collect JW and I'm not a fan of all their labels, but the blue and black are fantastic.
I'm glad you like it. I know a lot of people who buy it just for 'show' whether they like the taste or not. Price and taste is subjective and who am I to argue with you if you say it earns every penny you spend on it :) Thanks for checking in and enjoy your Blue Label friend 🥃
@@thewhiskyenthusiast I absolutely agree with you. I’m not sure if it’s worth every penny, all I know is I’ve never tasted anything as good as it at a lower price point. I’ve had many different types of expensive liquors that I quickly stopped buying cause I noticed something was better at a cheaper price, but I’ve yet to have that happen with JW Blue. But who knows! Maybe someday I will and I’ll realize it was highly overpriced. As of now, it’s the best I’ve ever tried. Thanks and have a great holiday! 🥃

I wouldn't know about 'kicking in' but the general consensus is leave a whisky in the glass at least a minute for every year it's been matured. We know there are some old stocks in the Blue Label but we just don't know the exact age so yeah 10 20 would make a difference to the spirit. If you can, have a sip when you first pour, think about it, then another sip after 10, then after 20 and so on to see how it evolves. This way you can find your own sweet space 😃 Thanks for watching
Nice review. The JW Blue gets a lot of hate but I think it's a pretty nice sipping whisky. About $75 seems like an appropriate price for it but unfortunately it is much higher. Cheers!

Pick any JW, other than the bottom Red Label and you can find actual single malts that are far better for about the same money as a JW offering. For what blue costs, the sky is the limit for finding better Scotch for same or less money.
Can't fault any part of this sentence, you're absolutely right. To be fair to JW though, the Blue Label only came out to be a luxury gift, not to be dissected by actual enthusiasts 😄
Thank you 😃 That is a Penderyn (Welsh Whiskey) single malt limited edition bottling for the famous Welsh opera singer Sir Bryn Terfel. You can read about the story on my Instagram page @thewhiskyenthusiast if you're interested 😃🥃
Just broke down and bought a bottle and I will probably be spending $250 per bottle from now on. Luckily I don't drink too much, but it is just the best scotch I've ever had.
Haha yes it is, I need some help finishing some old bottles to make room for new ones! I asked a very talented carpenter friend of mine to build it after my wife designed it. I'm very lucky in wife and friends department :)))
Yeah the juice is good, I'm not gonna argue with that and if you or anyone else is ok for having this on the shelf all the time then absolutely good on you 😃 Cheers
I can't say better or worse it's completely up to you but they're very different from each other. Green Label is a blended malt which have peated Caol Ila and the robust character of Clynelish with Linkwood and Cragganmore, whereas the Blue Label is a blended whisky which has soft and light grain whisky in it. Green Label is a more hefty dram compared to the easy flowing style of the Blue Label. Hope this answers your question.
The only blend I bought years ago was chivas regal and it was cheap and cheerful but not a rebuy. If I was going to pick a whisky I never bother with overpriced and heavily marketed bottles.
I completely agree with you! There are so many amazing whiskies out there, why would you pay through the teeth for this. If you do come across it though I would recommend trying it as it actually is blended in a beautiful way and is quite tasty. If I may suggest some good priced and really tasty blends I would recommend Cutty Sark 18, Johnnie Walker Black Label Islay Origin, Johhnie Walker 10 Select Cask Rye Finish, Chivas Mizunara and one of my favourites Ballantine's 17. Enjoy 🥃
There are those who will also say the Chivas Royal Salute is better than the Johnnie Walker Blue and at a much lower price too. Personally I bought a JW Blue at duty free a couple of years back. While it was good, I didn't find it impressive, so much hype around it, and expensive. Definitely not a re-buy for me even at duty free price. The Japanese Hibiki Harmony (even with no age statement) , IMHO tastes smoother and better. (and also cheaper).
I had it tonight for the first time after ignoring it for ages and I was pleasantly surprised as it is very smooth and tastes great, however it is very overpriced and there are whiskies that are just as good or better for half the price.
You've hit the nail on the head! Really good taste, beautiful to drink but you just can't not consider the price and when you do it all goes down :) Thanks for your input 🥃

Good question. The platinum is discontinued and yeah it was a great dram if you can find it. I think it is now the 18 which is also very tasty! If there's a massive price difference I'd go for the 18, if not I'd give Blue a shot as it really is a great drinker. Hope this help, cheers 😃🥃
Oh wow what words! Thank you so much, it's awesome to know that you're enjoying my videos 😃 Please let me know if you want me to review something for you and if I have it I will do it. Cheers 🥃
Unfortunately whisky doesn't age in the bottle so the Blue Label you had in the 1990s is still the same age if this is what you mean. If not you have a very cool whisky that was one of the first bottlings of the brand. It probably will sell for good money on auctions also I'm pretty sure it'll taste great :) Thanks for sharing 🥃
It's an ok whisky but at the retail price it is very very overpriced. To my mind it is a good whisky priced at a spectacular whisky price. The last time I drank it I compared it to Yamazaki 12 and I much preferred the Japanese whisky. At the price they charge there are soooooo many better whiskys out there. It is a flex dram that the uninformed claim as "best" purely down to the retail price. The Emperors new clothes whisky.
You couldn't have summarised it better. An absolute flex whisky that I personally would not pay for but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. Cheers 🥃
Let's be honest, you can buy whisky for WELL under £50 that is far better than this. I would pay £40 tops for the Blue Label . . . . to suggest this is a good buy at FOUR times that price is laughable. PREMIUM . . . . . . . it most certainly isn't. The finish on this is most certainly NOT medium to long.
I can see you have strong opinions toward it and I completely understand. I would never suggest this as a good buy. I would only say if you don't think about the price, whether you have so much money or it was a gift like mine, it is a well blended whisky. The finish for me was not short and more towards the long end of medium but everyone's palate is different and this is why the whisky journey and talk is so much fun, there is no right or wrong😃 Thank you for your input. Cheers 🥃
@@kevingonzalez8718 Clynelish 14, Johnny Walker Green Label (It's better than the Blue), Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie, Bunnahabhain 12 . . . all amazing whiskys for under £50

It’s clearly overpriced. A 40% blend, with added colour and chil filtered, costing around €200 or even more, it’s crazy. You are paying all the marketing and snobbery. It’s not a bad whisky but neither spectacular. It’s harmless on the palate and nose but really harmful to your pocket.
I don't think it's an offensive whisky but I agree with that price tag, it should be higher abv. I would love to try the cask strength version one day. Cheers 🥃
Yikes! Okay I think it's overrated and overpriced! There's no way I'd pay $350 before taxes in Vancouver. I have had this as a gift. It didn't come close to superb single malts that I have had. Maybe it's my palette deficit! Cheers!
It's definitely not you Christine, it is an expensive whisky. A very well made blend but a blend nonetheless which won't ever come close to the beauty of a good malt whisky. It's good to try though if you receive it as a gift :)

No Blend is worth that price, i have expert knowledge of liquor because it’s what i sell, i also taste lots of different liquors and Blended Whisky just isn’t great, if you want a really good Whisky you should get a single malt
I do agree with you that this one is over priced and more often than not I do go for a single malt rather than a blend but for people who can afford this regularly, they do love it and I can understand that as well. It is a tasty, non complicated, silky dram. To each his own I suppose. Cheers 🥃

I suppose you do actually like it. You have a brand new bottle of it right behind you.
Another gift from a friend! I have good friends 😃🥃
This is legitimate. I copy another commenter- I will binge watch the rest of your videos. Your review is.... intoxicating.
Oh wow what words! Thank you so much, it's awesome to know that you're enjoying my videos 😃 Please let me know if you want me to review something for you and if I have it I will do it. Cheers 🥃
How much better than red label??
A lot better
Red label is paint stripper compared to the blue
@@James-C-Callan 😂 true that
It is even better if you combine it with a Cuban cigar
I wouldn't know about that as I don't smoke but I'll take your word for it 🥃
Man you’re good 😊
Thank you 😃🥃
I have a blue label its about 30 yrs now.
Found Blue Label JW not nice. Weird taste. Very best value for money was the Special Reserve Gold.
Your wallet should thank your palate 😃
Your accent .. Are you a Turkish guy?
Evet, merhaba 😃🖐🥃

LMFAO people making the meme references 😂
Hahahha yeah it took a subscriber to make me understand what was going on 😂
Es Un Elixir 🫠😂
It's an ok whisky but at the retail price it is very very overpriced. To my mind it is a good whisky priced at a spectacular whisky price. The last time I drank it I compared it to Yamazaki 12 and I much preferred the Japanese whisky. At the price they charge there are soooooo many better whiskys out there. It is a flex dram that the uninformed claim as "best" purely down to the retail price. The Emperors new clothes whisky.
You couldn't have summarised it better. An absolute flex whisky that I personally would not pay for but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. Cheers 🥃
What are some whiskies you recommend?
Let's be honest, you can buy whisky for WELL under £50 that is far better than this. I would pay £40 tops for the Blue Label . . . . to suggest this is a good buy at FOUR times that price is laughable. PREMIUM . . . . . . . it most certainly isn't. The finish on this is most certainly NOT medium to long.
I can see you have strong opinions toward it and I completely understand. I would never suggest this as a good buy. I would only say if you don't think about the price, whether you have so much money or it was a gift like mine, it is a well blended whisky. The finish for me was not short and more towards the long end of medium but everyone's palate is different and this is why the whisky journey and talk is so much fun, there is no right or wrong😃
Thank you for your input. Cheers 🥃
Could you recommend some?
@@kevingonzalez8718 Clynelish 14, Johnny Walker Green Label (It's better than the Blue), Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie, Bunnahabhain 12 . . . all amazing whiskys for under £50
I haven’t come across better. Can you name some you think are better at the price point you suggested? I’d like to try them.
Very interesting and thorough review! In case you are wondering about the random people commenting calling this whiskey an "elixir", it's a joke that comes from an Argentinean interview that became a popular meme 😂

I've been collecting Johnnie Walker for 25 years .Got 117 bottles ..Great investment..2024 I'm getting rid of it .Just something beautiful about Johnnie. SLANJ.
Wow 117 bottles of JW, that's impressive! When you say you're getting rid of it do you mean you're selling your collection?
@@thewhiskyenthusiast Yes .Got the Entire Ghost and Rare .Blade Runner. 3 Blue label Bottles from the Ninteties .Odyssey. I could go on .So many luxury bottles and bottles from America and the Far East you have never saw before..1997 I started .its time to pass it on to someone else .Merry Christmas Sir .SLANJ
@@davidcochrane9287 Wow that is a cool collection well done. All of those could fetch a pretty price in the auctions. Merry Christmas to you and yours 🥃
I really enjoy it but it's overpriced.
Yup, me too.
Hah brilliant 👏 Harmful to your pocket is right! You're absolutely right, it's a nice whisky but not that nice to pay that much!
Es un elissir 🚬
I busted a bottle open last night and I loved it
Not surprised, it is a tasty tasty dram. Cheers! 😃 🥃
A gentleman's wager
and what a wager that was ⛵️🥃
Best in the world
It is a good one 🥃
Bottle ordered!
Enjoy 😃🥃
Is it worth it? No, the 40% ABV is offensive to a whisky consumer.
I don't think it's an offensive whisky but I agree with that price tag, it should be higher abv. I would love to try the cask strength version one day. Cheers 🥃
@@thewhiskyenthusiast my favorite cask strength blue label is the Ghost & Rare Brora edition. Well worth the price.
I just like a sprite dollar 54 can I’m good
😂
@7:25 LOL
😅🥃
@@thewhiskyenthusiast I am so appreciative to have received this whisky as a gift! It was very kind and very expensive when gifted to me but now it's so much more $$! Yikes! Hey I enjoyed some Ardbeg An Oa last night! It's hard to get here but showed up in a special release event at our BC Liquor Stores in my province. Quite nice! I always love the smoke! Have an awesome day!! Loving the Lagavulin Offerman 11 4th Edition!! Cheers!! 🙂
@@christinecamley Yes I was as well to receive it as a gift, good that we have generous friends 😃
The An Oa is a decent dram actually but I think it gets lost within the core range of Ardbeg in my opinion.
Glad you like the Lagavulin Christine, have an awesome day yourself
Short answer ‐ No.
😂👏🥃
Im actually drinking this now. I get none of this.
Taste is a very subjective thing and as long as you enjoy what you're drinking that's all that matters :)
Cheers 🥃
