I thought meal prepping was for "health nuts" for the longest time. No, it really isn't. I live alone, and I have chronic migraines. When I do feel well, I enjoy cooking; however, I was always concerned about wasting leftovers. Also, I don't eat much during a migraine due to the nausea, but I will feel really hungry after. The problem was that I didn't have the energy to cook something other than the most simple thing. Now, I make more meals at one time and freeze them when I do feel well, and I have something better to eat than an over-processed microwave dinner once I get over a migraine.
I found my containers at Walmart for less than $1 each, so you really can do this--even on a fixed income, like me. If you're not dealing with illness, but you know someone who is...this solves so many issues for them and is so much better and healthier, and it tastes better, too! LOL! Give it a try. You're already cooking, so you just make a few more servings at one time. If you do this one or two times/week, then you save yourself time and energy later when you don't feel as well.

I wished I could give you 10 stars for these recipes. I bought some divider containers months ago and forgot where I had seen the recipes to fill them. These are perfect. Nearly everyone has frozen dinner but usually they are all chicken and my husband does not eat chicken. I can use pork chops for the chicken in these recipes for him and the chicken for me.

Whoa! TV dinners are a great idea my husband and I only have our 8 year old (perfect surprise baby) left at home with us. The other four are all adults and have moved on. We run a business, homestead and kate just started softball so we still get busy. Love this!
Edited to say: if you don’t have a microwave like me, I checked Amazon and they have glass compartment storage containers that are freezer and oven safe you can go right from the freezer directly into the oven. No problem.

Thank you Kimmy for this videos and all the videos. I’m a single woman with no kids but I love cooking for myself(sometimes my roommate) and saving money by not eating out all the time. I often come to your videos for freezer meal ideas and I enjoy them all, thank you so much for sharing!

    Hi Kimmy,
I watched this video when it first came out and I meant to leave you a comment about your mustard situation.
I always keep Keen's Dry Mustard on hand. It's a powder that I use for some recipes that call for dry mustard and I also add it to my cheese sauces too. It's always great to have something like that tucked into the cupboard for times when you've run out of regular mustard. I always keep the French's Mustard on hand but you just never know when you'll run out or think you have one in the pantry...Hope that helps!
By the way, I use "Ina Garten's Best Meatloaf" recipe. She bakes hers in the oven on low and uses a pan of water underneath which is what I used to do. So a I used to use the broiler pan and the drippings would fall into the water below. The Meatloaf would stay up out of the grease. Loved it BUT now I always make Meat Loaf in the slow cooker.
My biggest is a 6 quart oblong slow cooker and I line it with foil and then I have two round racks from my pressure cookers that I intertwine and lay on top of the foil and then I make an aluminum foil "sling" that sits on top of the racks for support of the actual meatloaf. This allows the fatty stuff to fall off of the sides of the meatloaf so that it's suspended up off of the bottom and not sitting in grease (I use Lean ground beef but you still get some fatty juices even with Lean beef) It's fabulous.
I mostly follow her recipe for ingredients but I adjust the amounts because I don't think anyone follows a recipe like that to a T...I tend to add more seasoning amounts (salt, pepper, garlic, Worcestershire sauce etc..) than what is called for because if something is under seasoned it doesn't taste good to me. I use a lot of the W sauce. Anyhow, please try Ina's recipe if you haven't already....

Thank you for this. I hardly ever see meals for one on RUclips etc, so this makes a change.
Not everyone has a family to eat with, or eat the same things that others do, so these are really handy.
My favourite is the meatloaf one. It looks lovely.

This is such a great idea! I leave for work at 8:00 am and get home at 6:00 pm. I try to have something in the crockpot or have an idea for a quick but healthy supper for my family. The tv dinners would be a life saver on days that I have to work over or on days that I don't feel like cooking, which is most days lol Thank you for such a great inspiration! Have a great week! God bless you!

Breakfast biscuits are great to have frozen too. Aldi has small round 8 sausages that I cut into two pieces, cheese slices, eggs, and 2 frozen canned biscuits. Bake these ahead, cool, put together, wrap in wax paper, and put in ziploc baggies. So good. Made these 16 biscuits for around $12 and if they were purchased in a box at Aldi it would be around $20.

That’s it, meal prep “tv dinners”, but for lunches for myself and my bubs.
Thank you very much. I find myself eating crap when I’m just overwhelmed and don’t have 5 minutes to make something healthier up for lunch.
Bubs eats great healthy food and so do my young sons (but they are at school), even my husband eats well when he goes to work, but I don’t.
These ideas will help me out so much.

🦘🇦🇺 Hi Kimmy...its 11:58AM Wednesday here in Oz. I try to make a stack of 'tv dinners' each month. Roasted root vegs/steamed corn peas etc plus a roast meat. May's meat selection is the spare Turkey from Christmas. I also do single portions of Tuna Mornay/Lasagna & shepherds pie. Bolognaise. Plus meal balls or muffins. Gotta love those 6 hole muffin pans.
*I'm on assignment to promote 72 Hour packs so I am re-watching your 12 month storage playlist. And making notes. ✅
We are heading into Winter while you are looking forward to summer. Always watching Always learning...❤️🤍💙

I found a meatloaf recipe from Kraft. It's called Honey-BBQ Meatloaf with a Kick. I do exctly what you do with measurements ~ I eyeball. It calls for amounts of certain ingredients & I just put more of what I know we like. I also have a crock pot salsa chicken we have with mexican/spanish rice & slow cooker bacon ranch chicken with pasta. Mmmmm ❤ my husband takes those containers you have for leftovers to work. The ones we have are not sectioned.

It is really hard to cook for one or two people without leftovers and this way I could freeze the leftovers and portion out the meals.
