"The History of 'APRONS' I believe that most children today are unaware of what an apron is. The primary purpose of Mom’s or Grandma’s apron was to safeguard the dress beneath since they only had a few. Additionally, aprons were easier to clean than dresses and used less material. However, they also served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.. And when the weather was cold, she wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, she walked out onto the porch, and waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes. Send this to those who would know (and love) the story about aprons. REMEMBER: In the past, mothers and grandmothers would place freshly baked apple pies on the windowsill to cool. Nowadays, their granddaughters set them on the windowsill to defrost. They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron. I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron - but love"
Yes, do a video of your cookbooks! I love to read cookbooks. I have a good collection myself. For egg salad, I do Mayo, mustard, onion, and celery. Thanks for another great video!
I tried to like miracle whip, but there was no way I could. It always left an awful aftertaste in my mouth that was not nice. So I had to stock both miracle whip and my beloved Bestfoods mayonnaise and I would have to make two separate egg salad and tuna salad and potato salads just to keep the peace. Thank you for your interesting videos. 🍤🍚🍪🍩🧁🥧😋
YES, we want you to show us your collection of cookbooks! I have several that I like and then we also have a family cookbook that is basically a binder with all of our favorite recipes. Great video, thanks for sharing!
I'm watching this on a Sunday. My name is Elizabeth, but I go by Liz. My Grandfather came from Italy, my Grandmother came from Ireland. Today I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a Dutch Oven cookbook.
AH! My Italian grandma married my Irish grandpa, too! Growing up with both of those traditions was just amazing. I also love kamut flour. A friend introduced me to it a year or so ago, and it's become a favorite. There is a learning curve to it, and I'm still learning, but we really love it.
I only cook and bake with Kamut flour. I get it from Khorasan Mills as it is much cheaper than the food nanny. There is a learning curve to using it as its more like bread flour than all purpose. So when a recipe calls for 1C. of all purpose flour I use about 1/4 cup less so 3/4 of a cup, and most recipes come out great. I now weigh my flour instead of using a measuring cup because its more accurate and I have found that 120grams (not ounces) of Kamut flour equals 1C. Of all purpose. You will have to play around with it. But if you keep in mind that its a bit different than all purpose flour you wont be disappointed with the end results. I and my family love it, I make everything from cakes, pizza dough, naan bread, pie crusts and the such with it.
Oh my dear,I love watching your videos👏🏼💖today with you talking about and showing your lovely cookbooks, you were saying you read your cookbooks like a book and you were saying that cookbook you love reminded you of your grandmother and you got tears in your eyes. You are the first person I’ve ever heard explain it like that. I love cookbooks and I have a big double bookcase for all my cookbooks. I’m the only one I know that feels that way about my books❤️you make me feel so happy watching you. I would love you to do a video on your cookbooks. Thank you, dear
Kimmie I love watching ur videos and love meeting ur family. There’s no better place to meet a family other than in the kitchen. Thank u for the great ideas for organizing my freezer. Praying u and ur family have a blessed day.
Yes, I'd love to see some of your cookbooks. I have quite a collection too. 😍 I especially love those that are literally like a story book.....awesome! ❤
I love cook books too, and can spend afternoons reading through them. Would love to see your collection. Also, thank you for making printing your recipes easy for this grandma.
Chia pudding with fruit, overnight oats parfait, yogurt and fruit are 3 quick breakfasts in fridge. Cream of Rice or Cream of Wheat, bacon and eggs are for weekends😊
Yes please! Would love to see a video of your cookbook collection. I have a similar set up in my kitchen for all my cookbooks. I have one from 1949 (year I was born) Love your videos!
I love cookbooks also!! Please share some of your favorites and the recipes you make the most from those cookbooks. Now that I'm retired I have so much more time to play with recipes. ❤
I love this video. Thank you for sharing all these tips. I wanna say that the past few videos including this one, it feels like you’re talking to us like you use to and not at us. I hope that didn’t come across as mean, because that’s not what I was going for. I know making content is time consuming. I meant it as a compliment. I love your videos and I’ve been watching for years. Thank you for all you do.
I am a "killer" of aprons just like you:) I divide my aprons into cleaning, cooking and entertaining. Another thing I love to do is when shopping for trinkets in places we travel I buy an apron. Then each time I wear it I think of the place or person I bought it from. We were in Mexico recently and I bought a homemade apron from a woman raising money for her son's college education. Great memory and wonderful purchase:) Love this video!!!
Just ordered my first “She’s in Her Apron” Planner and so excited to receive and begin using it. Been watching your channel for several years now and have learned so much! Taking it to the next level with the organization that having the planner will give me. Thanks so much for what you do!!!
I just love cookbooks. I found an old Betty Crocker cookbook from the 50's at a thrift store a few weeks ago and it's so fun looking at all the recipes from then. I treasure it. I just ordered from wildgrain using your code and I can't wait to try it.
I'm watching this on a Wed. I've got a collection of cookbooks. My mom brought me my 1st cookbook Betty Crocker Boys n Girls Cookbook. I stillhav it,got it as a bday gift in1968 my mom even wrote in it . Ive got all the Chew Cookbooks too. Lov u n familt. Hav an awesome wk.❤🎉
100% agree about the egg salad and tuna fish has to have the miracle whip. I had to chuckle my Mom and I were just talking about the same thing today. 😊
Yes a video to see your cookbooks.i love cookbooks as well. Ooh yea I been watching your videos since your kiddos were Littles. Like 10 years ago. I simply enjoy watching your videos.thank you
Watching you make the breakfast sandwiches reminds me when i was a teenager and my family would make up a months worth of those at a time. We had an entire production line where mom did the eggs (one at a time, i like the sheet pan idea), dad would do bacon or sausage, and i would assemble and wrap them up. Good times.
Never thought about preparing the egg sammys ahead of time thanks. My hubby likes pepper jack on a bun like a Breakfast Jack. Your make ahead tip will be used a lot. Thanks. YES Love to see your cookbooks.😊
I have the same apron from walmart! I got 1 of each they have😂... because of you I have become an apron collector! One for each holiday... ❤❤❤ you and your videos... I have learned so much from Kimmie
Looking at the Canadian bacon that you showed. It definitively looks different from what we refer to as Canadian bacon found in Canada. I live in Ontario, so I am familiar with Canadian bacon. Great idea! Thanks Kimmie
I just came from the kitchen after making Egg McMuffins & you were putting your English muffins in the oven 😊 I just purchased 4 silicone muffin top pans on Amazon and the eggs turned out great! One egg fit in each section. Watching you & waiting for them to cool.
I have 5 of the new apron that you got!! There’s no way you’re going to ruin it! They wash up wonderfully and I even have a light Easter green color and all the stains come out with regular washing!!
Oh my gosh, I didn’t even recognize Boston. He hasn’t came on for awhile lol OG follower here🙋♀️thank you Kimmy for your video. Your videos de stress me, thank you❤️
Wow you accomplished so much in one day, while you were at the cookbook shelving I glanced trying to find Dining on a dime cookbooks. Tawra and Jill’s cookbooks are great also. Love your soup. Wonderful video. Many blessings to you, I am so inspired
Yes please do some videos of cooking from your cookbooks. I love reading through my cookbooks too. I bought a bookshelf just for them all to have next to my kitchen too
My dog is a blueberry fiend and he will move in and strip a bush as high as he can stretch faster than I can pick them. In fact, just today I caught him trying to eat blueberry blossoms before there were even blueberries. I grow several varieties but my absolute favs are Chandlers. That they are big bushes and berries doesn't matter to me I love the taste they have to stay on the bushes forever so they are the last ones to ripen but such a reward for waiting! You just can't go by looks--pick a few to taste periodically until one day they hit that amazing taste spot.
Yes show you're cook books I also love buying cookbooks Have made a bunch of family favorite Plus it has helped my cooking skills Especially working with bread recipes
📖 I love reading cookbooks. I even check them out at the library. 😆 I’ve got two at the peninsula where I sit to work. I know one is Meme’s recipes and the other might be Julia Pacheco’s. At my bedside table I have a 1977 Catholic Church cookbook from Missouri. Found that in at Savers. I’m having so much fun reading it. Oh, I recently found a Worldwide Ward cookbook at the DI. It is so good. Hehe. 😁
Also, just an idea, we have a back door like yours with a half window. Silly me put a my towel in there like a curtain. Stayed there for a couple of years🙄 Found a blind behind a glass that fits right over the window😀 light still comes in but provides privacy when needed, especially night, and easy clean. Never have to clean the blind🤤
Quick tip on bread in the 0:020:02 freezer. We put one 1/2 piece of paper towel around them for moisture & it's fantastic. Plz try it on at least 1 to c how it works. Promise it does. Love watching your channel. 😂😂😂yes, I was yelling at the TV u saying miracle whip in ur egg salad.
I noticed it too! Was was worried she didn’t see it and didn’t want anyone to be sick! I also loved when the delivery drivers came behind her on cue almost! Yes, do a cookbook video!!! ❤
I was searching, searching searching to see if I was the only one who caught the mold. ... you can't just pick it off bread. It's bad for you. Please don't do this.
I smiled when you were doing the strawberries and blueberries, washing and setting out to dry. Here I would have to guard them because everyone would come by and grab a hand full, then there would be none for the fridge!! 🙂 And yes, I need breakfast freezer meals. Healthy ones because I have to lose weight and lower cholesterol 😞 Thanks !!!
I LOVE cookbooks as well, and actually just got Natasha's Kitchen Cookbook! Yum Egg salad. Mayo, mustard, celery seed, onion and garlic powder with a little juice from dill pickle.
I've been making Laura's pizza crust, Thanksgiving turkey, Stuffing, weeknight cheeseburgers, fir over 10 years...... perfection!!! My family calls her auntie laura❤
Me toooo im a fan of hers and i bought her Cook book as well ...laura vitale reminds me of when i left Australia to live Italy.. i love watching you as well ...love you all ❤❤❤ i have thousands of Cook books haha
Kimmy, I've been using the food nanny's flour for years now. There is nothing better and everything tastes better. Bread, cookies, pizza dough, everything. Plus the health benefits are incredible.
Yes a few tips. First if you visit her store watch out, so many beautiful products. I like making her Baguettes more than the regular bread. So quick and easy. Great for anything. Also if using in your own personal recipes use a little less. I use it to thicken sauces, gravy and more. My family is totally converted. I got my two daughter in laws hooked. You pay more but you're getting the best of the best. Also her mom's cook books are the best. Not a bad recipe in there. It's a great adventure. Haven't tried the sourdough yet but that will be my next venture.
Kim I have a very old recipe for our home made salad dressing that I love to use 1/2, 1/2 of mixture with miracle whip for potato salad or egg salad salad mix. My kids love to use it on sandwiches, too.
The soup looks amazing! I found some dried (on the shelf) Barilla Three Cheese Tortellini that I have been wanting to try. It's 12 ounces, but a little extra won't hurt 😁 Thanks for letting us hang out.
Great inspiration today Kimmy! I watched Jen Ross for years, until her channel changed to travel vlogs only. Unfortunately her dog Winnie is no longer with us. 😢. Not sure exactly what happened but she blew a disk in her back and became paralyzed. Jen took good care of her in that state, but it may have just become too painful for poor Winnie. She was such a good dog mom! And, please do a cookbook video. Have a blessed day!
Watched a hack for Romain. If you pull it out of the plastic and wrap in aluminum foil without cutting, then pull off leafs as needed it lasts a lot longer. I tried just one head, and lasted for 3 weeks. I purposely tried to keep it as long as i could and would have lasted longer but wanted another salad. Hope this helps.
I'm cracking up between the "you've got mail" (I feel old - my kids have NO idea what AOL was) and the "favorite child". My dad when pressured will always say, "You're my favorite (insert child's name here) 🤣🤣. Also, I started doing breakfast freezer sandwiches and I will always have them on hand now! So yummy and so easy. I also did some bagels too but with different meat. Now when I have a crazy morning or I'm just craving one it saves so much $, time, and I swear tastes better than the fast food places.
We like the Bubba’s bagels and English muffins. We also like that they’re made locally in West Jordan. I’m SO glad you showed toasting them. The untoasted bread is reason I’ve not made breakfast sandwiches for the freezer.
I love the slowcooker liners. Makes clean up a breeze. But then I am working with a broken wrist that did not heal properly. Hard for me to lift and clean the crock pot liner the normal way. Love your videos♥
I use dukes mayo for my egg salad. I put a diced sweet onion and sweet pickle relish with salt and pepper. I know the miracle whip is probably good too. ❤

Sweet history lesson.
It made me laugh when you said you’re waiting on a package and just then, the Amazon truck goes by the window behind you! 😂
Yes! I wanted her to ask for a million dollars too!!! lol. Perfect timing.
Yes, do a video of your cookbooks! I love to read cookbooks. I have a good collection myself. For egg salad, I do Mayo, mustard, onion, and celery. Thanks for another great video!
I just purchased Salt Fat Acid Heat and loving it

I love that he said Blues Clues! 😂 My kids were obsessed with Blues Clues
It would be cool if you did a cook book segment like once or twice a month. Make it like a series.

My husband makes our breakfast foods. When he does the sausage, egg and cheese muffins he uses a drinking glass to cut out the eggs to fit the miffin.

Agree peameal bacon is Canadian bacon. That looks like bologna
I just came from the kitchen after making Egg McMuffins & you were putting your English muffins in the oven 😊 I just purchased 4 silicone muffin top pans on Amazon and the eggs turned out great! One egg fit in each section. Watching you & waiting for them to cool.

Especially working with bread recipes
My children do that with everything😅. It’s always who’s the favorite child throughout the day. It’s so cute and funny
After microwaving mine for about 30-50 seconds. I put them open faced in the air fryer to crisp them up. Yum!
📖 I love reading cookbooks. I even check them out at the library. 😆 I’ve got two at the peninsula where I sit to work. I know one is Meme’s recipes and the other might be Julia Pacheco’s. Hey FYI there is mold on your english muffins. If you pause it at 6min 28 sec you can clearly see the big round green moldy spot
Yes. I picked it off
I noticed it too! Was was worried she didn’t see it and didn’t want anyone to be sick! I also loved when the delivery drivers came behind her on cue almost! Yes, do a cookbook video!!! ❤
You can’t do that with bread. Only cheese. If bread has mold, there’s mold spores all thru it. Toss it. Google it.
I was searching, searching searching to see if I was the only one who caught the mold. ... you can't just pick it off bread. It's bad for you. Please don't do this.
@@suziebuckingham9053yes even white spots in the same bag are early stages of mold. Once it's in there it spreads like wildfire
I smiled when you were doing the strawberries and blueberries, washing and setting out to dry. Of course we want to see your cook books!
I LOVE cookbooks as well, and actually just got Natasha's Kitchen Cookbook! Yum Egg salad. Mayo, mustard, celery seed, onion and garlic powder with a little juice from dill pickle.
I make sheet pan eggs all the time. The trick is to put your sprayed pan in the oven first and then dump the eggs on. It is a complete lifesaver.
He’s not a baby anymore! I’ve been watching you since the beginning. My babies are now 15 and 14. I’m officially the shortest in my family. 😂
Dawn dish soap works great for grease stains.
I've been making Laura's pizza crust, Thanksgiving turkey, Stuffing, weeknight cheeseburgers, fir over 10 years...... perfection!!! My family calls her auntie laura❤

Love the crockpot bags! No cleanup
Love aprons I own small collection from my momma made me
I get to shop my material she makes them
My favorite style are from the 50's
I love the longer videos like this
You're going to love Thursday's video then. Thanks Amber
Kim I have a very old recipe for our home made salad dressing that I love to use 1/2, 1/2 of mixture with miracle whip for potato salad or egg salad salad mix. My kids love to use it on sandwiches, too.
Awesome video as always!! Thanks so much!!
I love cookbooks, so yes do a video. I love Laura, also. My grandmothers were Italian, too. So many from scratch recipes.
The soup looks amazing! I found some dried (on the shelf) Barilla Three Cheese Tortellini that I have been wanting to try. It's 12 ounces, but a little extra won't hurt 😁
Thanks for letting us hang out.
Loved looking at your cookbooks! So cool
I would love to see your cook books.
I love kamut and spelt! I grind my own because you get more nutrition if you freshly ground grains!
How are you liking the new home. ❤❤❤
We're liking it! Still settiling in. I love the kitchen
Great tip!
The untoasted bread is reason I’ve not made breakfast sandwiches for the freezer.
yes, cookbook reviews!!!!!!!!
I also use the meat masher to make egg salad. It also works great for tuna.
I love the slowcooker liners. Makes clean up a breeze. But then I am working with a broken wrist that did not heal properly. Hard for me to lift and clean the crock pot liner the normal way. Love your videos♥
Love the red ones and we freeze them and in the summer they are great to snack on
I use dukes mayo for my egg salad. I put a diced sweet onion and sweet pickle relish with salt and pepper. I know the miracle whip is probably good too. ❤
Yes on the miracle whip! I use it in deviled eggs also. Use mayo on hamburger(whopper-like).
