An unclean spirit of sorts. I don't buy the common poltergeist explanation that it's simply wild psychic energy. We're dealing with a demon that somebody either let in or a spirit that had ties to the land. That second one is a hard thing to deal with as far as exorcising it but it's less likely to follow you if you move. It has dominion over location. "Cosmic Geography." If it's attached to a person and it's not dealt with properly it will stick to them like glue. They're nasty things. Parasites from the ass end of Tartarus. They love fear.
That's my take. I don't really believe in Poltergeists. Before I understood what I do about spiritual warfare I might've bought that it was an angry human spirit but that's so seldom the case. So rare compared to the demonic in these days when evil proliferates.

I am a true believer in haunted homes and in poltergeists. I don't think it's all down to the girl causing all the activity though. Her negative energy is probably what fed some entity and made it able to do all the things it did, in my opinion. I'm not an expert but I did live in a haunted house from the time I was eleven to just before my sixteenth birthday. We had several teenage and preteen kids living in the house, my dad was ill and couldn't work so we were very poor which caused a lot of stress for our family. I think we brought an entity with us when we moved from Florida to our new home. Just before we moved, my little brother and I were asleep when something woke me up trying to get through our window. It was hot so we had the window up. It had a screen over it to keep bugs out. It sounded like someone was taking off the screen. I looked but I couldn't see anything on this clear, moonlit night. I woke my brother because I was scared. We heard something come through the window and what sounded like heavy boots hitting the floor. Whatever this invisible thing was, it walked around my bed which was up against the wall and pulled it out from the wall. It was like it lay down between my bed and the wall. It became quiet. My brother and I huddled together with sheets over our heads and finally fell asleep. In the morning, my dad, uncle, and mom were loading a van with our furniture when both my brother and me tried to tell them what had happened. My parents said we were having a nightmare although how we could have had the same one puzzled my brother and myself. After we moved, our house was extremely haunted with phantom footsteps, things moving, something pulling sheets off the bed, making rackets like rusty nails being pulled from boards, something staring at you like it could kill you, you name it. It stayed that way until we moved to another house where there were strange things happening but nothing like the first house. As for the Warrens, I think they could have handled that case in a better way than they did, bringing in the media was an irresponsible move when they could have documented the activity in a private way and saved that family the harassment they suffered.

@@TheTapeLibrary that part at 15.00 about the pain of glass being broken on the inside but not the outside isn't that unusual with double glazing. A ball once hit my kitchen window and the inside glass broke but the the outside pane which was hit didn't. The guy who repaired it said that the inside pane is weaker and thinner than the outside. The impact is enough to make the air pressure between the sheets of glass to break the inner one. I only mention this because he initially thought it was neighbours doing this. Strange and really scary things happened in that house that I had to face down if I was going to live there. When I’m out walking alone with no noice I’ll get a very uneasy feeling and I’ll hear a little girl scream. The first time I heard the scream I saw a figure in the corner of my eye for a brief second I’m not sure if my mind was playing tricks on me or not. I hate when children are berated for how they act during an event like this, kids cant process whats going on the same way we do so they dont react properly. Its like bringing a kid to a funeral or any other sad event, they don't fully understand the weight of whats going on and will feel the need for attention with all the people around and the sad atmosphere. Demanding attention is another way for a child to cope with whats going on, and a child will perform a negative action if it garuntees attention, especially a child who feels neglected during a period of trauma. I'm no child psychiatrist but I've raised plenty of siblings and nephews/nieces and I've experienced the way they react to events like a supposed haunting or traumatic event, children want attention and sometimes they dont know how to convey that without seeming disrespectful or in the case of the supernatural repeating an event that recieved attention.
Anyways sorry for the rant, great video!

I agree. That poor child was taken from her community and given to grieving parents. Then the weird stuff started to happen, she was surrounded by panicky adults and had to act out to even get an adult to notice her. So certainly some of the activity was generated by her.
However, I think the possibility that the house sat on unstable ground should have been addressed at the time. Obviously, there wasn't the seismographic etc equipment back then that's available today but there could have been clues that there was shifting in the ground deeper under the house was destabilised due to natural causes or old legal or illegal mining.
Ground shifting could have released natural gases that seeped upwards over time and caused hallucinations. The moving furniture was very likely not moving as violently as witnesses perceived but any visible shifting, together w hallucinations, would have sent most people (let alone still grieving parents) into a tailspin of fear and horror.
As for that poor child, who came blame her for bolting when she turned 19? That house was filled with bad memories for her. Going back to her roots, even if she didn't return to her parents, would be a natural thing for a teenager to do, even without the shipstorm of the alleged haunting. I hope her short life held as much peace and comfort as possible. May she rest in peace.

Same, I used to believe they were the real deal. I think it was when I saw a show where there was a tour of the "museum" with an older Lorraine (after Ed had died) giving the guided tour that I saw through the BS. The whole set up just seemed so cheap & tacky, like a hokey "halloween house" set up or something & just a total attempt to cash in on everything. I mean, they were even selling replica Annabel dolls ffs.

I’ve been heavily researching the warrens for about 7 years. I went through the phase you’re going through now about a year into my research. HOWEVER now I am a 100% believer that Ed and Lorraine Warren were absolutely legitimate, and really were extremely wise and knowledgeable about the paranormal and they were not frauds at all.
Every accusation against them can be dismantled when it’s properly looked into. Watch the interviews with their grandson, he explains a great deal about them, their work, and the incorrect and nasty accusations against them. They were two extraordinary and good people

It could be both. Like maybe they were involved in some genuine hauntings and they were successful. People were facinated, word spread and they realized they could make this a career. But sometimes there was no haunting in a place and they decided they better fake it for the sake of their reputation and income.

Hello again, I’m thrilled to see a new video on this subject. So sad that they lost their son. It’s devastating to grieve for a child. Marcia was great, but no-one can make up for the lost child. Mrs. Goodin had such tight control over her, I’m not surprised that she manifested poltergeist type activity. Psychokinesis is a real phenomenon. A child who was smothered in rules may lash out unconsciously. Later, Marcia figured out that she was getting a lot more attention, so she began trying to imitate the activity eventually leading to the accusations of a hoax.
The activities started slow and escalated into a circus. Because of the shear number of witnesses, credible witnesses who reported seeing the levitations of large objects and damaging objects flying around or being thrown, I can’t discount all the evidence as a hoax. The theory of the child’s grandfather being the most likely culprit is certainly possible. An angry and powerful spirit. The indigenous people are very spiritual and their beliefs were not taken into account by the people involved. Disrespect is not an option for them. Also, they would not be affected by religious beliefs of the Goodin family. To them it had to be a demonic infestation. I think the Warrens only exacerbated the situation by making it more of a media circus. Regardless, they didn’t make any noticeable difference in the case. The ultimate fate of this family is not really known.
Every police officer, priest, neighbor or media member who was there to witness the incident will have to rationalize their experiences and decide whether they believe their own eyes. And, no, I don’t believe in talking cats. In the decades since this happened, paranormal groups have invented many communication devices and are gathering information and evidence of the spiritual world. I think it would be interesting to investigate this incident in today’s world and see if any kind of information could be gleaned. What ever happened to Marcia? Where is she now?

I agree with your comments on this one. And yes it’s true about some people having the gift of objects moving around of what appears to be of their own accord without use of any tangible items or human physical touch. There have been times my own son when extremely upset items would move on their own accord. But to those who are born with this it doesn’t feel like a gift. It actually freaks them out because they often don’t know how to control it and worry someone may get hurt unintentionally by the one who is born with this. What makes no sense to me whatsoever about this super natural story is after this family and other eyewitnesses seeing their all those items being moved and tossed around the whole place being trashed why would these parents even choose to remain in the house afterwards? I mean that’s a lot of shit going on and yet there’s new mom and dad tucking their new daughter into bed and thinking okay sweetie now don’t you worry about what we all saw nothing going to happen now. Give her a kiss on the forehead tickle her and say, “ Night, night don’t let the bedbugs bites.”!Then turn off the lights and close the bedroom door behind ‘em. I mean for real people? Somethings wrong with anybody going through all of that and then staying in the place anyway before finding out what is the cause. Most loving parents wouldn’t stay until shit got cleaned up before the return. For sake of pride perhaps but at what cost?

@@SandyHodge-ig7hn exactly my thoughts of questioning the decision to remain in the house afterwards and even during the times of the whole house getting trashed by the entities. this question always haunts me since I had seen the movie , The Conjuring 2 based on this incident of Linley Street. i mean if it was my parenst, something of that level would made them leave the property the moment it escalated and affected them physically too. they would taken us along with them andleave the house to whatever investigation police and other officials were getting on! this thing just doesnt fits right with me and unsettles me for some reason. an overprotective couple with their foster daughter, suddenly doenst leaves the house in the face of such paranormal incidences. why???? i guess we will never get the answer to it.

This case is crazy! The fact that so many people bore witness to it makes it all the more unsettling.. it’s a shame that little Marcia was blamed for the entire thing. And the fact that they couldn’t even escape that house is awful. I can’t imagine how difficult that must’ve been for them. They very likely did keep experiencing things but didn’t want any more attention drawn to them. I want to check that book out now.. I’d love to read all the accounts from the police, firemen and other public figures who were involved. I had heard of this case way before I realized that I lived down the hill from the actual house! What’s funny is even before I knew where the house was located anytime I walked past that house it gave me a creepy feeling. It sticks out from the rest of the houses on that street which is very long and very uninformed as far as houses go. Most of the house all look alike;4 floor duplexes, but that one is the size of a shed when you look at it from the street; only 1 floor and it’s yard is so small you have maybe a foot on each side of the house before the next property starts so you don’t actually see that even though it looks like a tiny shed it’s long in width and it’s roof is covered in tree limbs, so even though it’s the smallest house on the street it’s very noticeable and it creeps everyone who walked by it out!

Our home WAS truly haunted and it was very well known, so of course as teenagers we`d play jokes on people who came over to see the place. I was in a band and my parents would go to our fishing camp and we`d have big parties. One thing you didn`t DARE do was challenge whatever was there, or do like our bass player or my friend Joel I met in high school, and say there was nothing there or "no such thing as ghosts." Joel said that and the floating, glowing, evil looking beachball sized head appeared to him. I`ve seen it too. Joel described it as an "evil pumpkin head."
Our bass player Jay was in my room writing down song lyrics and the old closet full of my mom`s heavy 1950s nursing shoes flew open, and about 20 pairs of shoes hit him in the chest. He followed me around like a puppy afterward,. and I`d be walking, remember something, stop to turn around, and run into Jay. So I told him he should apologize for what he`d said...and this is hilarious but true...he walked into my room and over to the closet with his head bowed and meekly said, "I`m sorry Mr Ghost." LOL!! I`ve seen others get attacked too for disrespecting these things, whatever they are. If activity happens I`ve discovered it`s best to acknowledge it, and ask whatever it is to please be nice and stop scaring people. Usually anything that happens after this is harmless like pranks.

I'd never heard of this case, so thank you so much for such a deep dive. I agree with the investigators' conclusion: the girl could've been the origin of the poltergeist, born of her unhappiness. They say that once these things gather enough energy, they have a "life" of their own, feeding on any negativity around. And the Goodin's trauma after their child's death most likely permeated the place with plenty of bad vibes for the poltergeist to feed on. As for the Warrens, I think they started off their careers with the best of intentions, but once it became their business, it all went south.

I feel for Marcia, her reactions throughout sound a lot like the reactions of people who experience multiple, prolonged traumas (CPTSD). She came from a home that would have likely been traumatic for her, where she might have begun disassociating for her own survival, then being in this house - regardles of whether it was actually haunted or not - being surounded by people and having her life on display with at least some degree of weird things happening around her only reigniting and reenforcing her colapse response. Things like her seeming to not notice or care about events aren't unusual for someone in a traumatic situation, particularly if they've been previously traumatised. Then going on to "pretend" she didn't remember it, could have been her genuinely not remembering it as memory loss is both a sympom of CPTSD, but if she was disassociated, any time she spent in that state would be time spent not creating memories at all.
Even if there was nothing paranormal going on, she would have certainly been suffering.

based on some of your other responses i can only assume you're a hardcore believer and don't like anyone expressing anything that is even remotely considered skeptical, or secular as you want to put it. so i doubt you'll actually fully read this and any potential reply will be just as eloquent as your first.

I really enjoyed this video. The family certainly experienced so much sadness and loss. I believe that maybe the young girl was responsible for some things, but surely not all. Still find it hard to believe that there is no photos or footage. The Warren's started to want more publicity and calling up media was step too far. Certainly makes you think. Another great video 😊😊

wow i can't believe i've never heard of this one before! what a wild and sad case, and you told it very well. if the cat was indeed talking, or voices were coming from the cat, this would easily fall in line with the story of gef the talking mongoose, or the talking stove of zaragoza (which are two of my favorite poltergeist cases, and i would love to see you cover them!)

Being from Bridgeport, none of this sounds weird. I swear the place is on a Ley Line. Honestly anything can happen here.
I once witnessed what's called a moonbow and as the moon appeared to be melting out of the sky I only thought "fuck it, of course it is. It never stops here."

A really interesting story that I personally have never heard of. I really wonder how much of it is actually true and not blown out of proportion over the years. Not saying that I think all of the people were lying, for that, I experienced too much on my own that I can't scientifically explain, however, I am also aware that stories tend to get warped given enough time.
Besides that, excellent video. The amount of work that must have gone into the research alone is extreme, and putting it into a full on documentary of this quality is outstanding. I like that, even though you add ambient music in the background, you don't add extra sound effects on top of it to make it more "spooky" and your narration doesn't sound dramatic (as too many other RUclipsrs does), which I highly appreciate.

Stories getting twisted over the years obviously happens, it’s one of the pains of trying to research these stories. But I will say in regards to this one, most of the interviews and reports were conducted in the weeks following the incident. So while there may be some elements that have been added over time, the bulk of the original story should in theory be pretty much what was reported at the time.

Paul Eno is my dad (he actually passed away a few weeks ago), what happened to him at that house changed his life forever and his theories of the paranormal. Side note, that prayer book was an Orthodox prayer book half in English and half in Cyrillic. The reporter that took that picture thought it was written in sanscrit, according to my dad anyway. Great job!

I enjoyed watching this documentary very much. I agree that a child cannot lift a sofa or fridge by itself. It was witnessed and documented officially by the authorities in Bridgeport just like in Enfield the town where i live (i am watching the Sally House documentary next). For those of us that have experienced similar phenomena such as seeing horned entities like in Bridgeport and other manifestaions collectively with other people know this is true and we didn't imagine it. These things do happen.

    Edit:
After having finished the video, I see that the creator also read the book lol
I got most of my "theories" from a book called The World's Most Haunted House.
It's important to note that because Laura was so over protective that Marcia came to hate her. Anger/hate/fear give the entity more power. As does tragedy since it causes strong negative emotions.
I also think something may have followed them from the cemetery and the turmoil stirred up inside the home welcomed more evil inside.
One last thing! Don't ever open a door if no one is in the other side as that welcomes the entity into your home. Maybe they didn't have a peep hole. Idk.
