Disturbing Haunting of a Witches' Prison | The True Story of The Cage

- The Cage in St Osyth is often referred to as the most haunted house in England. The former site of a prison used to keep witches imprisoned was later turned into a home. When Vanessa Mitchell moved in during the early 2000s, she would experience one of the most extreme hauntings ever reported.

I generally like to alternate between stories people have asked me to cover and ones I just want to do myself. So, since it's been a while - What cases would you like to see me cover in the coming months? Throw me suggestions and like other peoples suggestions if you want to increase the chance of me picking that one.
Thank you all for watching! Hope you enjoy this one.
maybe the Lake Bodom Incident? I rarely see it covered even though it's pretty interesting in my opinion
@@JustSomeoneHi So I generally don't love doing too much true crime, although the mystery of that one does make it a bit more intriguing for me

I have started to get annoyed with a lot of channels that speak about the paranormal. They exclude or fake information all together and while I'm a skeptical believer, it always makes me hate the story and I can't even pretend to think it's real or scary.
But the way you speak on things, actually doing research and digging out facts that are so interesting, then presenting it as is for us to think on is chef's kiss, my man. Ty!
Thank you! I'm sure I get stuff wrong sometimes but I try to keep it as close to what is claimed by the witnesses as possible
Agreed. Thanks to stupid Aliens did it guy, I 100% don't believe in green men now
Ghosts I did experience it completely clear so I prefer these stories and this sude does a good jerb
I agree. Alot of ai bs channels on RUclips are ruining everything
Yeah, this and Nukes top 5 are the only paranormal channels I watch nowadays
@@CanvaMira i don't even watch Nuke's because it's all so very faked. At least with @TheTapeLibrary, I don't even mind if it's just a scary story. He tells it so well that I forget it might not be entirely true. I'm able to enjoy the story for the sake of the story without being forced to endure hype bros. He gives off a genuine vibe, that he isn't over selling something for the sake of clicks and it's lovely and refreshing. He could honestly read out the phone book and I'd listen.
"He's just standing there, menacingly!"
Unexplained sounds, frightening apparitions & chilling, uncanny sensations are nothing compared to the horror of unusually high utility bills. That's when you definitely have to move out.
Omg thank for reminding me they are shutting my lights off tomorrow i better pay them no joke😅 perfect timing thanx and yes poverty is.far more frightening than demons i have seen demons perhaps even the devil himself and battled and won in the name of Christ it amazing how terrified they become from that name
I've been subscribing to all these spooky channels hoping one of them would cover this case. Even if it's fake, whatever they did to achieve the effect on that lady's face is impressively unnerving
Yeah it's one of those things that just feels TOO GOOD to be real, if that makes sense? I love how unsettling it is though and so grateful that it introduced me to this story.
@@TheTapeLibraryif you noticed, the other ppl around her also had their eyes and portions of their face darkened. When she smiled, her lips also darkened, which just makes it look creepy.
I don't see any effect. It's a very low light, grainy, blurry, low quality video where a lady smiles or chuckles a bit and the poor quality of the video distorts slightly. That's to be expected with this low quality. The suggestive nature causes a bit of mass delusion with things like this.
It’s not fake you can go to an old episode of the paranormal files to hear the story straight from Vanessa’s mouth.

You often say, "If you stuck with me through another long story." I'm always struck by your comment. I'm sure that I am not the only one that would say, how could I not stick with you through the entirety? These are fantastic stories! Also, it's the way that you tell the story. This is your talent. The longer the story is, the more excited I am to listen. Thank you for your riveting videos. I don't know how anyone could leave a negative comment. It's better than any movie!
Haha oh there's always negative comments, although I do think I get off quite light compared to other people. Thank you!
@@TheTapeLibraryagreed, the longer videos are what I specifically look for, and here’s why- with stories/ cases, this being a perfect example, while there’s always going to be obvious questions, a 10, 15, or even 20 minute video really can’t do it justice (*unless* it’s something that has so little information, so little known about it, that there’s not much to go into any depth or real detail about). At the end of the day, the long ones really draw me in, personally 🤷♂️ great video

The house I lived in was next to "The Lock Up", a tiny brick building with a barred window in the door. It was for drunks, thieves and yes.. those "witches". There was a ducking stool not far away in another village. So many women were accused, some murdered. Thank you for covering this.
The one thing I’m jelous about is that the UK has houses dating back to the 1500s and you can live in them
I've often thought the same thing. Living in NZ there's nothing even within centuries of being this old.
Even older than that, one of our oldest houses that’s still in use as an occupied private property dates back to 1150!
@@charlotteadams9720 how?
I have often thought about that too. Even here in the USA we have homes in the New England states with homes or parts of their homes from back in the 1700s or earlier, which for us is really old. But the farther west we go the younger the houses get.
The house I'm currently renting and living in was made in 1843 and everyone is amazed at how old that is. LOL.
Yep. And still a better build and better materials than they've used for the last 50years. Bless you and takecare from U.K.
Oh man, the official office of The Tape Library is a fantastic idea. This really does sound like one of the most haunted places discussed here. I don't think I'd brave one night, definitely not alone. You tell one hell of a horror story, phenomenal video.

11:42 So.. she knew her friend was ill, and due for surgery soon, and wanted a place for her to be able to relax and rest.. And she fully knowingly and consciously as a believer of the paranormal chose the ONE house that was consistently called the most terrifying, evil haunted place with the darkest most gritty history and sightings for her to stay in????
I mean, her friend also knew the history of it. While she believed and claimed to have seen things earlier in her life, I don't think she really expected what they went on to experience in the cage.
Although...the suicide would 100% make me think twice

You ever put something down, look around and you can't find it? Sometimes I am certain something has moved it... happened yesterday with my TV remote. I changed the volume, put it down, looked around a few seconds later and it was gone. Looked high and low, it was under my tablet. I was sure I didn't put it there.
Yep. Glad I'm not alone 👍
Happens to my remotes all the time except that I handle them a dozen times a day and lose track of every instance. I'd be more impressed when items that are rarely if ever handled change positions.
@@dlxmarks it was just jarring. I'd put it down and literally seconds later it was gone. I have severe OCD, my remote sits in the same spot on my couch equidistant from two edges. It was on the opposite side under my tablet when I found it. It was just bizarre, but yes probably a brain fart.
What timing. On a road trip and on a binge of all your videos. Then i see this pop up. Thank you for making my drive a hell of a lot easier.

I believe she did experience these encounters. As someone who has had unexplained experiences in a home I rented for a year in Killeen, Tx I too, sought help from a local paranormal investigator to help understand what was happening in this home. To this day I am actively researching the property and reached out to those who have lived in the home after me to see if they have experienced anything similar. Not everyone is after fame perhaps some were just so traumatized by their experiences they simply need some form of closure. It’s been 10 years since I lived in that home and the thought of my experiences still instill me with fear to this day.
Look. Just get a Catholic priest. For real, you don't have to be a believer, but it's the only thing that works yo get rid of it.

I've only just "found" your channel and really enjoyed this report on The Cage! Thanks so much, it must take a lot of time to research and then create these tapes. I'm British and owned a 1600's house in Hertfordshire until I emmigrated. It was most definitely occupied by someone/thing else as were many other houses in our town and the many tiny villages nearby. It was just accepted, never investigated or spoken much about. @@TheTapeLibrary I have had one odd experience whilst living in Rue du Hameau which is in the 15th district of Paris.
It was around 2 / 3 ish Am and my partner and I were in bed . He was sleeping and I was struggling to get to sleep because of the heat and pollution.
I started to hear the sound of a horse trotting down our road and neighing .
Well I jumped out of bed to quickly have a look from our balocony because in that area you don't have horses let alone people riding horses at that time in the morning.
Stood there watching and listening and I could still hear the sound of a horse trotting. I ended up feeling uncomfortable with the whole thing and went back to the bed.

I would say from my experiences is that Pembrokeshire is by far the most haunted place I have lived ( especially the 500 year old house in Prendergast in a town named Haverfordwest) all of my family and our dog at the time expérienced things there such as sightings of adults and children dressed in Edwardian style clothing that were just disapear, my rocking horse being pushed, mine and my siblings names being called in our mums voice , we would run downstairs all together to her and ask what was the matter and she would tell us she had never called us and the same happend to her . She also had a hooded figure stand over her whilst she was in bed. We also had sightings of UFOs in Haverfordwest . First time was when we lived in Tudor Gardens and it looked like metal spheres gliding over the feild that our house overlooked .
And the other was in a Village called Wolfscastle where my mum called me to come and have a look at these massive lights that looked like that which are in football stadiums one night that Were not far from our house , I remember freaking out and I'll admit I started to cry . My mum just told me to calm down as she was more comfortable with the whole thing .
All I remember after that is I started to say I don't want to see it anymore repeatedly and she told me it was fine and to go to bed . We both spoke about it the next day and looked around . There was no explaination for it .
Sorry for the long message but I was thinking of sharing some of my experiences with you before so here you go haha .

Your videos just keep getting better and better! Ive been fascinated by this property for years, this is by far the best video I've seen on the topic, well done👏🧙♀️💯💥 It sounds as though somehow a portal has been opened there, allowing the multitude of spirits to appear. I’ve always been a bit skeptical when it comes to haunting, demons, etc. despite having some experiences over that years that I cannot explain.
However, there is no way in Hell I would ever knowingly live somewhere with such a dark history!
I've just discovered your podcast. Thanks for a fascinating episode. Being American, there are very few buildings in my country that are as old as The Cage. I think there's bound to be entities attached to such places just by virtue of them being so old.
That being said, if you want to guarantee a place to be haunted, a prison is a sure fire way to make that happen. Prisons are places of trauma, suffering, death, and malice. That kind of environment absolutely imprints on the structure, even after the prison ceases to house inmates.
The Cage is not haunted by witches, it's haunted by the evil people who falsely accused innocent women of witchcraft, tortured them and burned them! I do hope these poor souls finally rest in peace!
Witches are low iq
I would love to believe the accusers, twisted by hate, went to hell, which just happened to be where they sent their victims.

She blew the whistle on multiple other woman who were put into the cage with her?... I can't imagine the conversation that transpired...
I always suspect in many of these witch trials that she had very little say in who they actually brought it.
I imagine that a few of these cases had false confessions, not in the accused breaking down but as in the prosecutors just saying that the accused confessed and then acts as though it is a done deal. I mean that is how most witch trials were anyway, guilty till proven innocent and then convicted anyway.
Many of the accused were tortured for a confession. 😢
I dunno, my dude, I think this would be amazing as the offices for The Tape Library!
Just think how bad you'd feel if I get eaten by demons.
@TheTapeLibrary but think of all the content you would get of them trying to eat you!!!!
I shall bad my man.@@TheTapeLibrary

Yep! Get into this at the end. I've been informed very clearly by my other half that we are not allowed to move into it :(
@@TheTapeLibrary oh sorry, i'm still watching it, not got that far yet lol, yes i did joke if i had the money i would buy it, i'm an indy horror writer, and would find it inspiring to my work lol
If it's still only a hundred pounds, I'll throw it down 😅

I’m here. Let the diarrhea begin!
Because of the fear right? I can't help with general illnesses
@@TheTapeLibraryyes lol
Thumbnail looks sick
Thank you! Trying something a little different to my recent style with it so hopefully people like it
Such an interesting setting. The house seems to form a triangle on both sides that include the haunted alley. Maybe this triggers paranormal energy. I definitely plan to purchase Vanessa's book. Also thank you for acknowledging the diverse individuals in this community you have created on your channel and encouraging positivity. I hope you can raise the money for The Tape Library to move into this very interesting location. Although having watched that part again I know you didn't mean it. I love the yellow shaded exterior of this Tudor looking coach house type building which may even have been a church.
Ooh.. The Cage! Yeah, that footage is super creepy 😅
Yeah, I'm still not sure I buy it but it's so damn creepy
@@TheTapeLibrary Yeah, I think it's about the quality of the footage, camera and night vision.. potato camera. Still creepy looking.
i just play this in the background usually; what's the timestamp-ish for the footage, please? Is it at the beginning?
@@JhadeSagrav yeah right at the start after the interview segments
@@TheTapeLibrary oh i see it now. Oh. Oh dang... 😳😳😳
Dude your AI illustrations sometimes scare the crap out of me if I look away for a bit then turn back 😂😂😂
They are always watching!
