Recipe
These are school-safe (no nuts) granola bars that use as little fat as possible - much better than the processed versions.
Yield: 12 to 16
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
1 ½ cups (120 g) rolled oats (not instant or quick cook)
1 cup (100 g) quinoa flakes (or spelt, barley or further oats flakes)
½ cup (170 g) honey
¼ cup (45 g) virgin coconut oil
zest of 1 orange
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
½ tsp (2 mL) ground cinnamon
pinch salt
½ cup (60 g) unsalted, roasted shelled pumpkin seeds
¼ cup (30 g) unsalted, roasted sunflower seeds
½ cup (70 g) dried cranberries
½ cup (80 g) raisins
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (175 C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper, and grease an 8-inch square pan and line it with parchment paper so that it comes up the sides of the pan.
2. Spread the oats and quinoa flakes (or other flakes) onto the baking tray and toast for about 12 minutes, stirring once, until lightly browned.
3. While the grains are toasting, heat the honey, coconut oil, orange zest, vanilla, cinnamon and salt until the coconut oil has melted. Place the pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and raisins in a large mixing bowl.
4. Pour the toasted grains into the bowls with the seeds and fruit and add the warm honey mixture. Stir this well to fully coat everything and scrape this into the prepared pan. Press the granola mixture VERY firmly into the pan (using a flat dish helps to do so without sticking) - this ensures the bars will hold together when sliced. Bake the bars for about 15 minutes, until lightly browned at the edges. Cool the granola bars in the pan before slicing.
The granola bars will keep, well-wrapped and at room temperature, for a week, or they can be frozen for up to a month.

I tried your recipe but, as I live in the Philippines, I wanted to make sort of a tropical bar so I followed all of your procedures except as follows: I used 1 cup of multigrain cereal (which I pulsed in my food processor) instead of quinoa, I maintained your honey mixture except that I didn't have any coconut oil, so I used 1/4 cup of melted butter. Then I replaced all of your fruit, nut and seed ingredients with 1/4 cup desiccated coconut, 1/4 cup chopped dates, 1/4 cup dried mango, 1/4 cup dried pineapple, 1/2 cup raisins, and 1/4 cup almonds and 1/4 cup pecans (both of which were also pulsed in my food processor). The result was excellent. I felt so virtuous!
Hi! Have you tried leaving them in the pantry? If so, how long did it last? Thank you! Im planning of making them and im hoping that i can make batches that can last for a week.
@@slmjdollano I haven't tried leaving them in the pantry but they lasted more than a week in my refrigerator.
So basically u didn't try her recipe, u just made Ur own
@@redblack5547 Yeah, pretty much.
Man I did this, and for starters, sooooo much cheaper to make them than buying them. Also, waaay tastier than bought granules bars! And you can monitor thyroid sugar and calorie intake better with these! Thank you son much for this! Love all the way from nairobi kenya.
I love the way she narrates. She doesn’t say more than needed
Many classrooms don’t allow peanuts due to allergies. Seeds are not the same as nuts, so no allergies. Hope this helps.🙂
I agree
Exactly, she's educational not irritating
Mmm. That looks good
Absolutely right! She doesn’t say more than needed.
Just love how Anna simply gets into action without long boring nonsense.
🎉
I love this granola bar recipe, I've made it several times. I use puffed quinoa instead of the flakes and omit the orange (not a fan). I've even made a tropical version with toasted cashews, shredded coconut and dried mangoes. Oh yum!
Those sound amazing Karlene! Oh Yum indeed!
Where do you live
Omg I can't wait to try them, I love that you have the ingredients measured in grams too, that helps me a lot. I love your organised beautiful kitchen, a dream 😍😍😍
I seriously love how the whole kitchen looks
Thank you!
If I had a house and money, I would have a kitchen like that. The oven (although it is very high and I am only 4 foot 9 inches) and the drawers with the in-built containers with the lids.
Made these several times, delicious, I use almonds instead of that seed, super easy as well, thank you so much Mrs. Anna
Wats quinoa flakes....? If don't hav wt to substitute
Your kitchen looks like a dream. Please do a kitchen tour.
I’m a new mom and this recipe is seriously perfect for my little girl ☺️
She’s not allergic to anything
But it’s just a healthy delicious treat!
👩🏽🍳 ❤️
I just did this one last night and cut it this morning and it turned out great. They were a little too sticky to stack in a container so I spread a little almond flour out on the cutting board and moved each bar through the flour. No more sticky and the flour is of course just almonds so it tastes great.
Good idea; thanks for the tip.
Thanks Anna, kind regards from Black Forest. I am going to make this today, never made Granola before.
Please let us know how it turns out!
I've made your sweet and salty snack before which turned out delish! Now I'm going to make these, but with chocolate chips!! Can't wait, Anna, love how you inspire us with these recipes!!!! 😊🙏❤
Sounds like a wonderful alteration!
I was hoping for chocolate chips too! How did yours turn out? How _else_ did you alter the recipe?
Can’t wait to make this. You’re instructions are simple and to the point.
Amazing! I used orange essential oil (food quality) in place of the zest and they were on a whole new level of granola bar. Just fantastic!
I love these granola bars Anna, they’re much healthier and I’ll be making these for sure, thank you
Great to hear Angie!
Super easy and delicious. I did save time microwaving the honey mixture and skipped the stovetop. Either way, it's still a piece of cake and tasty. Thanks Anna! I made my first homemade granola bars. 😊

Look so delish 😋😋😋
Maybe I need to bake mine. I made some Kodiak Rolled protien oats granola bars with pecans and chocolate chips. I put them in the fridge and they came out chewy. I guess I need to try to bake my next batch and than cool.
Thank you for sharing ... I like your presentation ... neat and easy. Looks yummy. :-)
Sounds so good and better than store bought ! I make my own granola so love this...where do you get virgin coconut oil? what is that.
You can substitute any kind of fat to that. Butter should work nicely.
100/100 روعة
Thank you Anna for all your great recipes , you are an amazing cook.Thank you again.
Great recipe, what oil can I use if there is no coconut oil? As an exception. If I will use olive oil or sunflower oil? Will it be ok?
You can use different types of oil, just be aware that the taste will change slightly based on the type.
@@ohyum so as in recipe, add oil until honey rises in the jar? Or for liquid oils there is exception?
A great video, I will try these.
That's great!
It’s true !! never cut your granola bar while they’re still hot. Mine crumbled like a Jenga tower 😅
Hi Anna ! I have admired you as great chef esp, with desserts... I have made a few of your recipes, but to be honest has not been for year now, because my husband and I went to a keto diet. I still watch your channel none stop, and it does not really help me because i will just crave for it. Please kindly create a granola recipe that is keto friendly....thank you so much
Yummy ... like your style

That looks great, can you please mention the nutritional details in gram like fat, protein, sugar, etc

I think you’ve just hi-lighted where I’m going wrong, I don’t press down hard enough. 🤔 thats a crucial step. 👍🏻
