I melt 1/2 cup belgian chocolate & put it in the bottom of the pan before pressing the mix down. To the mix, I also add 1/4 cup ground flax seed and 1/4 cup sunflower seed. It is soooo good! My husband says they're perfect. Thanks for this recipe!

I’ve never liked homemade granola bars because of the raw oatmeal. But I never have seen a recipe where they toasted the nuts and oats before the binders! Brilliant! Thank you so much! Especially seeing the gmo alerts on the box of Quaker granola bars, and others as well!

Quick oats are steamed and cooked as part of their processing and so are not raw.

I just made my grocery list, and always wanted to make granola bars . my favorite cereal is honey nut cheerios, and I'm trying a new one honey bunches of oats. I have everything but the chocolate chips. I do monthly activities with my niece's nine year old son, and I am a retired day care worker. he's picky at certain things. but loves doing easy kids cooking with me.😊 .Thanks 🍊🍉🍈🍇🥐🥨🍕🍞

I was looking for the best recipe for homemade chewy granola bars and now this one has definitely become my favorite by far! 😊 My family also agrees. They all said, “Wow, those are REALLY good granola bars.” No need for store bought granola bars anymore, plus they don’t take long to make. A great prepared snack to have in the fridge. I love that your recipe toasts the oats first. I use 2 cups oats, 1 cup crispy rice cereal. I’m a salty-sweet person so I add broken pretzels. I don’t love cranberries or raisins in my granola bars so I leave them out.

Looks delicious but wondering if it will be too sweet for my/my wife's taste or if it is distributed enough to not really be that much per bar. Can we simply add less sugar or will this affect the texture/ability of the bars to stay together? Also is that salted or unsalted butter?
