  • This is a REVISED video I made of the crew of Amtrak 91 calling out a trespassing foamer, The original video had a quality control issue, so I went back to re render it in vegas pro.
    ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a video I made in Tampa Florida of Amtrak train 91 with heritage unit 160 on it. At the start of the video a foamer stands directly on the tracks for photos and gets called out over the radio. after they ran off I receive a 50th anniversary pin from the conductor.

Thats the stupidest thing I've read on the internet in days. The guy was in the middle of a live rail line. He wasn't just in the corridor, he stood in the middle of the tracks, then trespassed even more despite further warnings from the crew. He deserved the cops for that. my only question is, is there ever in any circumstance at any distance to be directly on the railroad tracks while not crossing the tracks themselves of an active line? Say if it was a straight section of track, the train is moving at 20 mph or so over a mile or two away, and you stay on the pavement portion itself, for a little bit like 10-20 seconds. Something like that? Or just flat out never? I have never done it, but I've thought of doing something like that strictly in circumstances I've described before. I love the phrase "don't do stupid things when you're doing stupid things".
Sure, trespass on railroad property, go down in the steam tunnels at your uni, etc, but also, while you are doing the unsafe/illegal thing, make sure to be careful about hazards which make it exponentially more dangerous.
Watch out for open pits, confined spaces, don't stand on the tracks looking through a viewfinder. Keep your wits about you, and make the unsafe/illegal thing as safe as possible.

I went with my friend to watch a train pass. We stood back from the track about 100 feet. I figured that if something broke or an object on a rail got hit and propelled my way I might have enough time to duck behind a tree. My friend is a real rail fan. He had a small riding railroad that circled down a hill, over a trestle, past his dad's house (it was his dad's project) and crossed a driveway, with a wig-wag, up the hill and back to the train barn. It was a sweet arrangement.

She was having trouble with the latch pin not releasing, even with 2 other people helping. I suggested we try turning the chair in the other direction just to loosen the pin, then go the correct way; with 3 of us, it worked. She did thank me for the help. I told her that I was just trying to help and not take over.

Dad was a railroader for more than fifty years. A conductor for much/most of it. Mostly coal haulers, other minerals once in awhile, some freight, here where we live. No passenger services. They took safety very serious, in the proper ways. Dad almost died on the tracks a time or two. Even though the working men were unionized(engineers had their own Brotherhood too), I really respected the company for working with the union and workers for the best outcomes. That whole scene is gone and done now. Name's the same but it's a whole different generation of everything. That's what people don't seem to copy, that every so many decades, what carries the same name is replaced by new individuals who may or may not hold the same values as those they replace.
An idiot is an idiot. Never got why some people have to have just a little bit more of whatever than others. It's like a fool's errand, "look at me I'm getting more better than you!" My handle is extreme, and I don't put it into practice, so I'll leave it at that. Train crews were armed once out of necessity.
