Railfans Being Stupid With Fast Amtrak Trains! Tampa Florida Trains, Amtrak & CSX Phosphate Trains

  • Railfans doing stupid things with fast trains at a railroad crossing near Tampa, Florida. Also, a huge CSX phosphate train passing Yeoman Yard in Tampa, Florida that I filmed with Millenniumforce and a CSX phosphate train in Mulberry, Florida. The first 2 scenes were Amtrak trains in Plant City Florida just east of Tampa that I filmed from the observation platform. The guy who walked in front of Amtrak and then touched it as it passed had first come from the train viewing platform after walking across the diamond. I don't know for sure if he was a foamer or just someone walking by. The 2 guys standing at the crossing, way too close, were obviously railfans who didn't know what they were doing was stupid. Next we see a huge, heavy phosphate train entering the east end of Yeoman Yard in Tampa, Florida below Orient Rd. Finally, we see a phosphate train returning to the mines just east of Mulberry, Florida. That train was filmed from our motel room at Best Western, Mulberry, Florida. That is a great motel to watch trains from but the tracks there usually only get a few trains a day. At times they can be busy and it seems like there are more trains in the night passing the motel than in daylight. Filmed on various trips but the first Amtrak train was filmed on February 1, 2020. Thanks for watching! Don't forget to give a thumbs up and comment! Please Subscribe To JawTooth to help me get that 100K plaque! Watch another video of mine below to help support my channel:

    Hi Mr.Jawtooth, S!!T that scared the hell out of me, and i'm watching it 3 months later. Their morons, their damn lucky that poor engineer didn't put that train in Emergency. Ask me how i know. Like a fool in 1998 i was a young, stupid and dumb, desperate to photograph the TEXAS EAGLE 21 south of Temple Tx. back then it had 2 Pepsi can GE P32-8 locomotives, a baggage car and 8 very nice Superliner coaches. The engineer set it down from 79mph to a dead stop, the last coach was about 75 to 100 yards from me,and OMG all i can remember was the lead Conductor flung the door open, his first sentence was " are you hurt" no sir, then he laid in on me and screamed and done a rain dance around me damn near 10 minutes, felt like an hour. I was shaking and crying when he got done. Want to know what he said to me after, " son did you learn anything from this today, you scared my engineer so bad he thought he killed you, that's the last thing you don't hit and kill someone, you carry that image to your grave. Do you understand why i through such a fit anything could fly off a rock, a tiny little bolt could have killed you. I'm sorry i caused you to stop, now you are really late, no not really he said the host railroads add extra time for idiot's like me, as i have said stupidity doesn't discriminate we're all guilty of doing something stupid in our life time. I had no excuse calling them morons,but it really scared me it could have ended very bad for them. Mr.Jawtooth i am sorry i took so long, but people doing stupid things around trains, needs to be made aware.

      Glad you're okay. When I was teenager, some of the kids did stupid stuff like "play chicken with the train." When the train is coming, they would be playing on the tracks until the last second to see who was "cooler" without getting hit. No thoughts about getting killed.

    Oh dear, it's a shame when you see people being foolish like this. I can (as I'm sure you can) empathise with their interest in trains, but that interest can be pursued from a safe distance and without giving train drivers the fright of their life they really don't need. Over here in the UK, hanging around in a level crossing in the way that the guys seen at the start of the video are is technically trespass, although I doubt anyone gets punished for it. Trains are great and I love em, but they're also bloody dangerous and need to be treated with wary respect!

      Joshua Saxby--- how right you are!!! having worked at a plant locomotives, and rail cars i am well aware of these machines, and treat them and respect them for what they are --a piece of heavy equipment. so give them the RESPECT you would give ANY piece of heavy equipment. you wouldn't stand in front of a bulldozer, or a quarry truck-- so why do people behave so stupidly in front of, or near trains

    • @jess.hawkins
      @jess.hawkins 4 года назад +4

      @@williammoses6232 Why indeed! I wonder if a lot of people assume that because it's a kind of vehicle, it can stop in the same distance as a car can, which of course we all know is nonsense. It's also really not nice to put train drivers under avoidable distress by getting in the train's way. Drivers that do hit people often are scarred for life by the experience.

    That’s why Railroads don’t like us. They are painfully aware of the trauma the crew suffers. They have to spend a lot of 💰for lawyers and often lose in court. The crew’s out of work after being traumatized and the idiot’s family has hot shot lawyers that go for big 💰💵. They lose big. So do we.🤬

    Hi from Pennsylvania. About 60 years ago on a Sunday streetcar fan trip on Pittsburgh Railways, we were on single-track line used by just a few rush-hour cars on weekdays, the old line to Trafford if I recall correctly. Since we had the line to ourselves, we decided to set a up a photo run-by on the private ROW so that the car would approach on a long tangent (straight) run through an unmowed field on wheat on both sides of the track. Viewed from any angle except straight down the track, the streetcar appeared to be floating on the high wheat as if by magic. Neat shot.
    I set up at the edge of the field where the tracks began a slow turn to the left. All was ready. The car, a very fast 1600-series PCC modified for interurban service, came shooting down toward me, slowed and entered the turn. I was maybe 15 years old and in my excitement, I had forgotten that the rear end of the car would poke out of the straight trajectory as it made the turn, by perhaps 8 inches or so....it’s normal, just plain old basic physics.
    So in my 8mm movie one sees the streetcar float quickly through the field, go roaring past just inches from me as it entered its turn, and then suddenly the rear end swings out right into me, makes contact at perhaps 35 MPH and knocks me a glancing blow right over onto my keyster in the wheat!!! You can see me change from vertical to horizontal as I topple over. I was not hurt, and it’s really a funny film. But what a very stupid thing that I did!!
    Thanks as always for your videos. Stay well. Enjoy your trip. CAS.

    This is a prime example of why I prefer to watch trains alone. Number one I don't care for those who wish to strike up a conversation and somehow convince you that they know more about trains then you know or ever will know. There are way too many of them nowadays. I also don't care to be around those who like to tempt fate by walking across the railroad bridge, parking close to the tracks, standing next to the tracks, etc. There is a train museum in the city where I live and every evening and especially on the weekends groups of people gather to park and watch trains there. It got to where when I joined them at least one person would leave me flabbergasted with how they act around a train moving 40 mph. There is also a parking garage about a mile north of that which is always practically empty on at least the top two levels. I can see the trains coming better from the parking garage and do not need an umbrella if it rains. And if anybody else discovers the spot and joins me at least they can't get too close to the train since I am always parked at least three levels above the ground.

    4:40 Yeoman is a major inbound intermodal and freight yard. Best time for action there is probably early AM. Tampa/St. Pete is much more about inbound than outbound traffic, so the bigger, more time-sensitive units arrive for unload around 5-6 AM, so that the local delivery facilities get their volume between 6-7 AM and get it out on the road by 9 AM.

  • @macofalltrades6396
    @macofalltrades6396 4 года назад +1

    The horn at 1:46 was clearly a "you idiot" honk. Florida is notorious for line-of-road pedestrian deaths.
    When I was 12, I got trapped in a cutting with a fast freight coming and was lucky enough to be able to hold on to a tree. The suction from a passing train is serious business, as I learned that day. The faster the train, the worse the suction.
    Stay back from fast trains if you don't want to be run through a railroad Cuisinart.

    Unbelievable behaviour!!! Some people transcend stupidity into an art form! In the UK all railways have to be fenced off. However, two years ago the Flying Scotsman locomotive came past us here in Cornwall. Some stupid rail photographers climbed over the fences and stood on the track. Another train had to stop while the driver argued with people to stop trespassing on the line so that he could drive his train and they refused! There were threats that the rest of the tour would be cancelled if there was any repeat.
    Level crossings also bring out the idiot in certain people. Your video has got it all from a US perspective.

    Without sounding cynical its easy to see why some engineers and train crews may get exasperrated by railfans. To us (myself included as I am one) it may (and often is) simply a hobby standing around video taping things, not feeling like we're getting in the way yet the crews always have to worry if someone will still get too close, not move back soon enough, or are unfamiliar with trackside rules and such, to an extent they probably feel like they still hold some amount of responsiblity if something happens, even in situations where the train crew is clearly not to blame, frustrating as its something railfans like these all too often seem to forget

The engines pull up and I'm waiting for the clear signal to safely approach and begin. At the end, I pull the line(s) secure the caps, back away and give the clear sign to the engineer. I worked as a subcontractor for a certain rail maintenance company in the UK. Our job was to repair and/or clean up the mess, not very nice to see the mess a train can make or if some idiot touches a live rail line..

    Either coming from or returning to Englewood Yard, for several miles the line ran through the 5th ward. The game of chicken was often played with 'pedestrians' and engines. Then there was the time a conductor reported to Tower 26 that some denizen had shot at his caboose. Ah, those good times....

    Always amazed how close the barriers come down to when the train passes the crossing.. literally a few seconds. Its normally a 30 seconds to a minute at least here in the UK.

      On the first one, the bells started going off 15 seconds before the train got there.
      The gates were down at least five seconds before the train got there.
      The railfan was even with the gate. If he crossed the street, he would have been behind the gate. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
      Same with the second one.
      Maybe you guys over there are just a little slow mentally, and need the extra time to figure out what was happening.

    Those railfains look like the same ones I've seen on Virtual Railfan on the Plant City cams. Same crossing and positioning.
    I hope some day the Plant City PD gets a chance to watch the VRF cams and get enough evidence to confront those guys if they persist.

    The first time I ever was on a Amtrak the engineer put the brakes on too soon and we stopped before the engine was even in the station this was at a Amtrak, Dart station in Dallas Texas. Then on the trip back a different engineer did literally the same thing in Mineola.

    A train is a form of rail transport consisting of a series of connected vehicles that generally run along a railroad track to transport passengers or cargo. The word "train" comes from the Old French trahiner, derived from the Latin trahere meaning "to pull" or "to draw"
