That red flatcar on the first train is a scorpion car. It's used on MOW "Maintenance On Way" trains for carrying track maintenance equipment to places where tracks need work. That thing on the end of the car is a ramp for loading & unloading the equipment. Also that ramp curls up like a scorpion's tail which is why they call that flatcar a scorpion car. The scorpion car is usually put at the end of MOW trains. Also MOW flatcars have rails attached to the floors of them for the equipment & have little rail sections on the ends that move up & down too for the equipment to drive across between the flatcars for loading & unloading.
That car was what is referred to as a scorpion. It articulates and lets MoW vehicles load up and be taken to where they are needed. It is usually at the end of a MoW train.

Thanks for watching Mark and thanks for your support with the gas! I just got done filming some trains in Sidney and Troy Ohio and checked in to a motel. Got one in the dark. Thanks again Mark!!
Great Video, my Friend. Brian, Have a really good Sunday with your family and be sure you spend some time with the LORD on His Day. Be blessed, my Friend.

I’ve been watching your videos for well over 7 years now, and always enjoy them. You are consistent with the excellent variety of locations, visual angles, and great trains. I really enjoy the briefings you share about the towns you visit to shoot your train videos. That little walk down the main street in this video was a nice touch. It’s cool when you can occasionally team up with other local railfan content creators for road trips so y’all can share the expenses as you capture videos of your railfan adventures for us. Even with you, Scott, and @AdventuresWithJoeyBoats ( that’s a LONG handle!) MAN! Those trains were SCREAMING THIS little town! Some good variety in this video too! Long hood forward screaming around the curve, the little red caboose, that nice bed and breakfast with the view of the tracks, that MOW “scorpion” car - which I didn’t know about either until I read the comments here. Great stuff yet again, Jaw Tooth!
Sounds very cool 😎! I also want to thank Kevin for the information on that! The train was quite long and interesting, too. Wilmore has a real nice-looking main street. If the rest of the town is like that, I think it'd be a fine place to live. Thank you JT! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤
You can see the pride and history in the US Rail,no where else, from the early western use of steam,I just love how you Visualise and Document JT, Thankyou,Blessed be 👍🙏

Always nice to watch trains from you my man!😊 Sometime next year there's actually going to be an active passenger train rolling though my area! It's going to quite a game changer!
Awesome location and catches Jawtooth! Another one of my favorite areas! Thanks for sharing as always!👍 when I see that 5150 tag I can't help but think of Vanhalen!😊

hi Jaw Tooth, William Allen, 50 years old, May 7. i like your videos and you introduce me to ShoeString, i will miss him and his videos, but i will remember him still riding the trains. thank you Jaw Tooth. i like your videos because of all the locations you go to and some info on locations and quiet when trains roll by except for DPU or a special train car. then at the end the slide show with as mom calls them your little babies(pets). thanks for meeting Jason Asslin too, i watch his videos and wood cars, gondolas, and alter metal materials from his area. i just have Union Pacific, BNSF, and Amtrak coming through here, sometimes a Union Pacific steam engine( in the last two weeks 4014 Big Boy made a water stop here in town too). thank again, keep up the good work because your videos are good just as you have them now. just wondering if you have a model railroad too?
I work for the state of KY and been through Shelbyville on my way from and to Frankfort several times on US-60. Have yet to catch a freight on that street running section.

Great live action by the dogs on the dirt pile and your cat seems fascinated by the birds... LOL... I hope that you were able to stay at that Bed n breakfast place in Wilmore cuz that would have been the best place to catch trains 😊... And, UP Big Boy is back in Cheyenne, they got back yesterday 7/26. The Heartland tour begins August 29th and they'll be out for 8 weeks. And they'll have big boy on display in Rochelle, IL on September 8th so if you're wanting good pics and maybe you'll get to interview Ed Dickins 😊 Stay safe out there and hopefully you and Scott can get some footage of Big Boy
Very cool "Fallen Flags" between @3:44 and @3:54...three ex-C&NW covered hoppers, plus two rare former XTRA Lease covered hoppers. Re: that coupler ("drawhead" in railroad jargon) laying on the ground, while that probably did not fall off of a car, two months ago (May 15th), I witnessed one actually coming off a TTX autorack on northbound CSX manifest M457 in Loughman, FL (MP819) enroute to Orlando. The "drawhead" broke free from the "B" (trailing) end of the car, stranding the four remaining autoracks in the consist, and putting the train into "emergency". Initially, 457's conductor could not locate the missing drawhead...nearby CSX local L772 -- dispatched to "rescue" the stranded four separated autoracks -- found it several hundred feet behind the stopped 457...the "shank" was impaled into the ballast, leaving only the knuckle exposed!! I was there to photograph this bizarre event... 🙄
If they have those greasers here in Amarillo tx they don't do much. Right out side the yard there's a tight Y going southwest to Texaco TX and east to Oklahoma. At work all night its screeeeeeeeecccccchhhhhhh
