I don’t live in an area with Amtrak. :( well, the tracks go away from the city so I can’t go see them. But we only have superliner cars. Never seen the single story cars in person. Not sure I’ve seen an Amtrak train in any RUclips video with a superliner. Great video!

Amtrak is the best means of travel. Jets explode midair and they cant tell you why..I took amtrak from Seattle to Florida. It was 7 days both ways and the most interesting and beautiful train ride I have ever had. I did that 3 times. I hate to fly and there is so much to see by train. I highly recommend it!
Edward Pazdzior well no. In my preference I’d rather take a train ANY TIME than an airplane. Think of 9/11 think of the challenger explosion. All the airplane incidents. Sure Amtrak has had there accident and problems. But they were quote “accidental” Amtrak had Mechanical problems, but fixed it immediately. But now that some locomotives that wreck now are scrapped or barely fixed. Now when I rode the train just recently I saw an old Amtrak turboliner in new Acela paint. Which was a surprise to me. But I still prefer trains. Airbus airplanes scare me.
I always go by the numbers. Airline safety is technically a ton safer if you look at fatalities per number of people that fly. Amtrak is always late too. It it pretty sad if airlines have a better on time performance than Amtrak. Loading an airplane with luggage and people and flying it to it's destination is much more complex but yet they still get you there "on time" a lot more of the time. Amtrak equipment is ancient. They don't own a majority of the rails they ride on and lose priority and end up sitting and waiting for freight traffic sometimes. I'm sorry but Amtrak is broken and has been for awhile.

I’m not against what you said, but you did prove a good point there. But in this video this train was surprisingly on time. Like I said we both have our differences in opinions.
@System6 Rail Videography My family used to railfan there for years, we would ride the train to Rocky mount then catch the evening train back to Wilson. I can remember the engineer greeting us on one occasion.

dblissmn I forgot to mention the location, sorry, but besides, the damage my with my hand the doctor said it might be lifelong, and the baggage in some stations have the same hand crank but some have the automatic crank or elevated platforms, and sorry for the shaking that’s because of my problem with my hand. Where I volunteer at a Missouri station between KC and St.Louis we were told that the extra baggage cars on our trains were added for more weight on the trains to help with signaling and PTC.
Walking in front of a stopped train is hardly a danger to anyone. If . . . and When . . . the train begins to move it will creep forward slower than you can walk allowing ample time for the not brain dead to pass safely.
Love going by train when I travel beats flying I rode the am track trains to flint Michigan to Chicago one time boy was it a blast them trains can fly at a good clip once they get going

At 6:00 the camera zooms to the end of the train, and as it does, the sound of the engine fades as if we actually travel away from the rumbling diesel. Please forgive my ignorance; how does that work?
If you go to the Amtrak service window @ LA Union Station and ask for Amtrak stuff they will give things such as cartboard Foldable P42 Money bank, Amtrak police badge, Activity books, paper conductor hats and a plastic bag with the southwesr chief logo on one side and coasf starlight on the other dont know if there was some with sunset limited, texas eagle or surfliner though (The one in fornt if the piano not the one by ben and jerrys that service window is checked luggage only

July 2019 I took a train from West Palm Beach Florida to Penn Station NYC. I left West Palm Beach on time. Tuesday July 2nd at 9:47am. I supposed to arrive at Penn Station NYC Wednesday July 3rd at 11:00am. Well I got to Penn Station NYC Wednesday July 3rd at 2:15pm. They were problems at Jacksonville Florida and Richmond Virginia.
It depends on the grade. If it’s too steep the train will eventually stall or have major wheel slip and also it’s not a major hill, it’s the illusion my camera gave it in perspective.
AmtrakSouthwestLimited3 it has the genesis engine made my GE P42DC and its Amtrak 819 in phase 3 which the locomotive no longer exists. It was in the 1993 bridge wreck and it was the first genesis locomotive to be scrapped.

I watch RUclips on a big screen, and wild camera movement is actually almost nauseating. Several other commenters have mentioned this, some more politely than others. When you took your hands off the camera and left it on the tripod, the video became a 10/10. If we find that one small portion of your video with the zooming annoying, and it hurts your hand to move the camera and zoom it, then why do it. Put it on the tripod and stand back. I like your video, you shouldn't be so thin-skinned and you should be more open to criticism. If you were showing a video to your friend in your house and they said the same thing that I did, I'm sure you wouldn't act so insulted. I honestly am trying to be helpful. Not criticizing is not being helpful.
Why do trains over there run with their head lamps on even during day time? Marker lamps are enough to indicate a moving train. So, why glowing head lamps even in day light?
Jim Harlow like I said, the FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION (FRA) required trains to have ditch lights. That's why before the 90s CONRAIL and other amtraks did not have ditch lights until the FRA said so.
Liam Brady I can tell. But sometimes they will leave them flashing. Only 30 seconds. Then they stop flashing. When they depart the lights will most likely flash again.

Liam Brady I can tell. But sometimes they will leave them flashing. Only 30 seconds. Then they stop flashing. When they depart the lights will most likely flash again.
