4:45 The dead spot in the headlights is to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. My 2023 Corolla Hatch has the same kind. Even tested it out and it does work its intended purpose. Great review
Great looking car, big plus for buttons in interior. Its not outdated its practical and dont turn your focus out of the road. In the market most cars have cheap china touchscreens but this is rare gem. Sadly not available in Europe. V6, 8 speed automatic, classic interior, reliable, great looking....what else do you need.
Even if the car DOES have rear cross traffic alert (which it does), backing in to a parking spot is much safer anyway. You're MUCH less susceptible to getting into an accident because you're not reversing out of the parking spot.
Having owned both a 250 and 350 they are a great solid chasis. The one to get now is the IS500. The 2nd gen IS350 is the quickest to 60 by almost a whole second due to the 6 speed which only has to shift once on the way to 60 vs the 8 speed in the 3rd gen. My GS has the same dead spot in the light pattern btw. The biggest negative for us with the IS platform is horrible rear seat room.
IS are known for small room in the back. It always going to be like that. If you want something bigger then get a ES. For IS you just going have to deal with it.
They have different models for a reason the IS is small, the ES is bigger, u should know what u are going to buy for u are getting a Lexus. Example the Honda Civic is supposed to be a small compact car now it’s Damm near the same size as the Honda Accord
I love the IS series. I still have my 2008 IS350 and have owned it for the last 12yrs. I might trade it in and get the is500 (Incognito Grey) once it’s more affordable

Its tough for me to honestly love this car since I have an 07 GS350 with identical performance I discover all I need to do to get the car close to what the 2Gen IS350 has is final drive swap from 3.73 to 4.08.
Hey I'm not entirely sure but I think the dead spot in the headlights is supposed to be there. This one is a little more pronounced than others I've seen, but it's there so you don't blind oncoming drivers. When you turn on the high beams, the gap should be filled in.
I was going to buy this car, but two major things kept me from moving forward with the purchase: terrible gas mileage and very little backseat legroom. Now I know people getting fast sports cars aren't too concerned about gas mileage, but if BMW can do it with the 330i then Lexus can do it. I ended up getting the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C Class. Good gas mileage and much better legroom than the IS350.
It needs more power to be competitive with their competitors. The M340i makes 70hp more and 0-60 in 4 seconds, the CT4 V makes 15hp more and 0-60 in 4.7 sec & the Audi S4 is making 40hp more and 0-60 in 4.3 sec… I believe the IS350 only comes with 311hp and 0-60 in 5.5 sec. I do love the Lexus looks the most though.
There is a video where the 2021 Lexus is350 does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and you are right it is on the slow side compare to the competition. The older is350 does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds because the gearing is more aggressive then the newer models that’s what suck about it

I totally appreciate the build quality and reliability of these cars - I drive a Giulia QV though so clearly didn't prioritize those features in my own car. But I will say that Lexus needs to update two areas before I would consider an IS or RC: the interior and more importantly the transmission. Now I will say that people complain about how dated the Giulia interior is and it doesn't actually bother me. I think BMW has destroyed both the aesthetics and the functionality of their iDrive systems with 8 and that giant screen just tacked onto the dashboard. So I don't want anything like that. That said, the Lexus infotainment is on another level when it comes to being dated. The graphics and interface are incredibly bad, to the point that it feels like you are in an over 10 year old car. Which you are. But then the question is, why am I paying so much for this? Build quality makes sense yes, but they've been making this car for years, and a lot of it is steel where other cars in the segment might be using aluminum or even carbon fiber (like Alfa's driveshaft for example even in the base models). There is no R and D being done either, so these cars have a lot of margin built right into them. And the transmission is really the deal breaker for me. I know Lexus has a different identity than the Germans or Alfa, but that slow transmission in luxury sport sedan that is priced inline with German equivalents (maybe a bit cheaper depending on the options you select for a BMW or Audi). Even in the RCF it feels completely dead compared to the ZF box in my Giulia, or even my older 4 cylinder Giula. When you're looking at 100k CAD for an RCF and you can get a QV for the same price, it stops making sense. For example a 330i in Canada with similar options that you get WITH the Lexus IS350is around 70k. The Lexus is around 68k. Now its true it comes with an V6 versus a turbo 4, but the performance figures are very similar and the BMW is much better on gas. More importantly you can feel like you can justify the money in the BMW, even if personally I don't like the infotainment myself. Overall these cars are a decent used buy because they are so reliable, but I wouldn't buy a new one.

Lexus got so much right with this car, then you look at the rear and wonder how they got it so wrong. It's horrible
Interior is too outdated to be dropping 45k.
It's all about who it's marketing to. 40 to 50 year old people. The price tag is 55k
Don't pull up next to an M340i....you won't like this car anymore
As an owner of a 22 ES 350, we've already test driven the 23 340 and will submit a build order soon.
You will dislike the m340 after year 5
the interior is horrible
Yea its like 14 yrs old. lol
Nice looking car....but that's it....other then that it's under-powered, over-weight, and a gas guzzling pig....BMW M340i kills it in every category....has 70 more horsepower and gets way better gas mileage!
You forgot one important factor, which is the reliability
If you like BMW so much why are you always watching all the Lexus videos 😆. You must have alot of time on your hands since your Beemer is most likely in the shop.
@@jpizel1070 I have to admit....the Lexus is a nice looking car, well as far as I can tell from looking at it in my rear view mirror
@@nicks1137 it’s not always about how fast you can go. Some of us buy it for how long It can go without major costs. If performance is your only concern than the Tesla model 3 performance version for $53,000 wipes the M340i’s ass. It goes 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. Ever since Tesla came on the scene, it ruined the performance game. So now just find something that’s smooth, comfortable, reliable and can keep up with the flow of traffic. That’s it
I just can't buy a Lexus with that interior lol
Can you elaborate? It was super solid and like 90% soft touch materials everywhere.
@@TRDJon Typical outdated complexed Lexus interior with the infamous trackpad. Screen is too small.
This is a previous gen for sure. The next gen Lexus stuff coming is a lot better that this for infotainment.
I thought the same til I sat in it.
Ambient lighting is for Barbie dolls - not for normal people.
This car is slow… my 2018 S5 smokes it. Very beautiful tho!!
I dont know about smoking.. lol..Not from the dig, but overall the S5 will catch up once after 60MPH
@Gina R An Audi S5 has more HP, torque, a twin scroll turbo, and AWD. One of its strengths are it's takeoff/starts. An IS350 F-Sport would never ever be ahead of an S5 in a race. Anyone who's know about cars will tell you that.
