      I went for a road trip in my friends 2016? X5. I think it’s a 16. Anyways, I will never buy a bmw. The seats are absolutely terrible. So uncomfortable. And this was an $80k + “luxerr vehicle”. Nothing luxury about the seats except they are 10 way. Big deal if the seats aren’t nice to sit in. Ya, worst seats ever.

      @@fatboynip I agree. I went to Hawaii a couple weeks ago and rented a car. It was supposed to be a Toyota. They "upgraded" me to a new BMW... what a pile of junk. That hybrid system was so jerky, the seats sucked, the plastic interior was flimsy, and the power mirrors would constantly get stuck in odd positions and never return. No good.

    people who own these take note.
    maintain them, because in about 20-30 years they will be worth quite a bit.
    one of the last fairly analogue cars that wont give you headaches.
    its happening with 90 cars now and it will happen with this car as well.
    all the miatas, z06s, accords etc are going for ridiculous prices since they are
    1. reliable
    2. "fun" compared to modern cars.
    back in the days those care were considered boring in the same way this lexus is now.

    You nailed it. I have 2005 IS300 with 122,000 miles with religious maintenance and it still runs and looks like new. My friends and family with the competitor BMW 3 series have spend a fortune on repairs and oddly brag about the costly repairs being special as they have fallen for the hype of superiority of German cars. I love the performance of German sport cars, but not at the cost of unplanned costly repairs. On top of that almost all the required maintenance I was able to easily do at home with the simplicity of the design.

    • @mohammadkamran5862
      @mohammadkamran5862 Год назад

      You nailed it. It boggles my mind how people actually still defend German Engineering. It’s seriously trash. They cannot make a vehicle to last long at all, and people still mention German engineering as it’s a good thing. Yes they make good performance cars, but for everyday people using their cars for reliable daily transportation that is not what should matter.
      I think if people actually stopped buying the Trash cans that are Germans because they will break their bank. That will definitely make the manufacturers re-think their reliability efforts. Yes if you have a lot of money to throw around they’re great cars. But most people who buy and drive them are barely affording to own those cars. Which is sad that they just follow the crowd into the hype.

    I bought the 2021 IS350 RWD with the AVS package and I have to say I still love this car after almost 2 years of owning it. The only issue I had was premature tire wear on the factory Bridgestone Potenza tires at 13k miles. I heard this was a common issue for IS owners so I had to switch out the stock front control arm bushings for stiffer polyurethane ones. I upgraded to the F-sport performance exhaust and it sounds even better while still keeping the neighbors sane. Absolutely amazing car and I don’t regret my purchase. If I had to do it again I might slightly consider getting the IS500 but I am happy nonetheless.

      Same! I have the IS350 RWD and it is absolutely amazing. I was a little worried about an RWD car in Kansas with the winter, but honestly, it hasnt been a problem. Not sure if this is an IS problem, but the only con I have had is the ride height (if you can call that a con). It is pretty low, and the front end will snag very easily on a parking block.

    The Traction Control AND VSC 'Off Mode' feature has been around for a while, and has been on lots of Toyota models. It's cool to give it a shot every now and then...but I hear the dollar dropping sounds anytime the wheels spin and just imagine hundreds of miles getting instantly removed from the tire life (unless it's month 37), so I just leave it alone.

    • @waterdd1
      @waterdd1 2 года назад +1

      I would challenge you on that statement . In my experience, the vehicle traction control cannot be fully disabled. I own a 2019 IS 350 RWD F sport.
      Yes, it’s true that you can press & hold that button and all those warning lights will come on in the dash, implying that it’s fully disabled. But in practice, the stability control Nanny is still there, unfortunately.
      When ever I try to drift around a U-turn, the system inevitably comes on to retard engine power and f’s up my power slide. I have scoured the internet and everything I have read agrees; the traction control can’t be fully disabled on the IS model. And this is mildly infuriating since I paid extra to have the limited slip differential option installed. What’s the point in having a LSD RWD car if you can’t do power slides and drifts? 😁
      NOTE: I test drove a 2017 GS F and it did NOT have this problem. I.E. the traction control system can be fully disabled. So I’m saving up to trade in my IS for the older GS F.

    This is the car I have been trying to buy but the pandemic has delayed it. Hopefully the 2023 will be soon available and just as dependable. Please mention the competitors in this class that are just as good, I like to have options but this is my number one! Thanks for the detailed and very interesting review.

      If you are looking for sportiness and performance, almost every other car in this class is better than the IS (BMW 3, Mercedes C, Audi A4 and Genesis G70). They are all stronger, drive smoothier, agiler, and quieter. But they are not as durable and long-lasting as IS. If you plan to drive the car for less than 5 years /100,000km, those competitors are better. If you wish to keep the car for decades, IS will be your only choice

    I just bought an IS300 awd in Alberta, Canada 2 weeks ago. Something interesting is that in Canada, the IS 300 also and only comes with the v6 3.5 engine. There's no 2.0t 4 cylinder option in Canada here. So it would be a great deal to go with IS300 in Canada.

      @@bchano9 yes, actually it is for my girlfriend and she just got her driver’s license 4 months ago. Good handling, smooth low speed acceleration, decent high speed acceleration. One thing I’d say if it’s not good for a first time driver is that the IS is not equipped with too many “modern technologies” , like auto parking, 360 cameras etc. but it’s good for a first drive to practice the basics and foundations, otherwise he or she can only drive a “well tech equipped” car in the entire life

    I just purchased a 2023 Lexus IS 300 AWD, coming from a 2020 UX 250h. My only complaint about the IS Is that it’s not the easiest to get in and out of. I’m not a huge guy but the easy exit stuff makes it really rough to get out of. This isn’t a problem I’ve ever had with another car. Makes me miss my UX, or wish I went with the grampa ES.

    Hi AMD, great review. I was tossed between the IS350 and the 5th gen 4Runner. I ended up with 4Runner and no regrets. The IS350 LED headlights replacement cost was about 5K in Canada for both sides. I was fearful that everything else could be costly so opted for the 4Runner instead.

      @@nickcaesar7650 bought the 5th gen 4Runner a year ago and absolutely amazing. Gas mileage actually for what it is capable is astounding, getting now in winter driving 11.3 litre/per 100 kms mostly city driving. Yes, rust is the only thing that will kill a 4Runner. It took me months of looking to find the right one. Check under the frame. They all rust but it is matter how much it has rusted. The day bought mine, made an appointment for Krown rustproofing. Planning to rust proof every year religiously.
      Other than rust, these are very well built Made in Japan just like your IS350. I believe your IS350 does not have LED headlights but the new ones have LED and found out it is very expensive when it breaks. I normally keep my vehicles over 10 years.

Total was nearly 2100$ for the single side. Oh and when they did the job they left off a 1/3rd of the clips and fasteners because they’re typically lazy af over at the Lexus side of things. They assume you have money and that’s the worst position to be in in a dealership repair center.

But, as we get more mature we start looking for a little more comfort. I've been looking at the IS350 for awhile, and this video confirms that it may be the best replacement for someone that likes a sporty car. The IS350 should fit the bill for her when shes ready.

    Been blessed with a 2016 IS 200t, enjoy it everyday. Only caveat is the inner tire wear that shortens tire life. Replaced bfgoodrich comp 2 as+ after 43k miles(inner side was completely bold), rest of tire tread could have easily lasted another 10k.

      Thank you for bringing this up. This should be a top comment.
      I own a ‘19 IS 350 RWD F sport and you can imagine my surprise when I noticed my inner tires were bald at 20k miles. I later discovered that this is VERY common for these cars. So it really should’ve been mentioned in the video. Although when you drive in Sport+ mode like I do, I suppose accelerated tire wear can be expected 😁.
      Other than that, this car has been solid! No other issues to speak of. It still looks, feels, and sounds exactly the same as it did on the day when I drove it off the lot 3 years ago.
      One more thing I would challenge him on is the vehicle traction control cannot be fully disabled. Yes, it’s true that you can press & hold the button and all those warning lights will come on in the dash, implying that it’s fully disabled. But in practice, the stability control Nanny is still there, unfortunately. When ever I try to drift around a U-turn, the system inevitably comes on to retard engine power and F’s up my power slide.
      NOTE: I test drove a 2017 GS F and it did NOT have this problem. I.E. the traction control system can be fully disabled. So I’m saving up to trade my IS for the GS F.
