I've mentioned in another recent post that I've recently started playing the game and worked out the whole loading time thing (3 min for everything, still worth it).
Anyway, the mod that everyone has, uses and talks about is Yet Another Mechlab. Imagine my surprise when I load it up for the first time and there are a couple of options at the top "Vanilla" "Balanced" and I forget the last one, so I chose balanced, that immediately changed the game considerably, enough that I immediately changed it back to Vanilla. There is no mention of the ship, upgrading it, limitations or mechanics or cantina rewards even mentioned on the mods page over at Nexus. It even states in game, it's beta and may have issues or something along those lines.
I've never seen or even heard a single MW5 youtuber mention this other seemingly large feature of the YAML mod. I noticed today @ 0:45 when you have the cantina jobs open that you also receive 3 upgrade points, this tells me you are using this portion of the mod. If you do another mod related video, I would love to know more about this feature and what you think of it. Is it worth it? Same thing could probably be said for the Aerospace stuff in Coyote Missions, no idea what any of that stuff is or how to enable it, maybe I haven't progressed into the game enough?
I've enjoyed your videos and easy manner so far but I'm lost most of the time.
I am starting to see though why this game is so criminally underrated. It seems like everyone, including the developers assume everyone is a die hard Battletech aficionado. I'm not suggesting it be dumbed down, I hate when that happens but most of the new player content is 4+ years old, I've watched a couple, they're all basically useless and done before there was a single DLC.
Have you considered a new player experience series of videos? I also understand there may not be a demand for this. Just asking questions. =)

Youre right, there is not a lot of explanation with most of the mods, and the bigger ones like YAML and Coyotes Missions add a lot to the game with their current versions since they have been worked on for years now. The ship upgrades and ASFs are fairly recent additions to their respective mods. I have considered making mod guide videos for these mods and some others that would provide more in-depth explanations of what they add to the game and my opinions of them, but its a lot of work considering how much content they add, hard to even figure out where to begin. I had not thought about making new player oriented videos though, since as you point out, most players are experienced with the game since it is not picking up tons of new players all the time. I will give it some thought though since I am sure you are not alone. Thanks for watching, glad you are enjoying the game and the videos!

Compared to Merctech + Piratetech YAML is still Pretty Tame^^
They go even way further but arent nearly as stable and bugfree :)
I dont think there are soo many new Players coming to MW5 now, ist a pretty old game by now and the successor will be released end of 2024 maybe.
I wished they would go deeper in ASF optimiziation, like giving Orders and an Pilot and alow us to upgrade ship sysstems like weapons and sensors^^
I am fully spaded with all other modules and still have over 50 upgrade points left in the endgame ^^

    First Mission
Man i forgot the Stealth again, rly need to think about it.
Second Mission, Comander runs around without Stealth for several Minutes again xD
Man Dude your Memory rly is fucked up ^^
That Weapon Loadout on that Otomo Charger seems pretty bad. Also why only upgrade it halfassed for 21 Days. You Depart for 76 Days, would have been more than enough to Optimize the weapons as well, maybe you even had an LRM Artemis Tier 5.
Also it has a 380 Engine, that means it will be your fasted Mech running 80 kph at 80 tons. I rly dont get your new fetish for bad Vanilla Loadouts oo
You never did that with other Mechs before.

its more of a side mech then something he actually wants to 100% optimize

Stealth is not necessary all the time, its more a novelty half the time. So im not that worried about it. If I need it then I have it.
Charger, and most of the otomo mechs for that matter, I am not planning on really using, so I dont want to put a ton into them. The point is to showcase them with basically their default loadouts so others can see how they perform. Im just upgrading the weapon tiers so that they are more comparable to my other mechs.
You shouldnt expect so much. If you want optimized mechs I actually put thought into, thats what the mech spotlight series is for. This playthrough is just for fun and I dont take it that seriously.

What is the point of showcasing them with their default loadout if they make no sense?
There are default loadout that fit the mech and their quirks and then there are some that goes totally random. They seem to be the of the later kind, except for the Battlemaster and the Catapult.
And I also only kept one of the otomo mechs in service but tried out almost all of them.

Most of the otomo mechs would be better than some mechs he currently runs in his hangar?
From that viewpoint it is not logical :)

@@SpriGgEx dude is just going through a casual playthrough. not everything has to be logical. he especially doesn't need you rudely criticizing him and back seating him every episode either.
