@@keithpalmer4547 Personally, I prefer the Firestarter. It can pack more armor and weapons than most other Light Mechs, and you can kit it out for actual combat, or instead build it for Demolition missions by loading it with Flamers & MGs. May not be quite as fast as something like a Jenner or Raven, but it's got enough armor that it can tank hits better than the Jenner or Raven while still having decent speed. And you can even make a Firestarter deceptively dangerous by loading it with nothing but Flamers, which can let it forcibly overheat an enemy Mech and literally just "cook" it and it's pilot to death while it just sits there unable to do anything about it. Only drawback to an all-Flamers Firestarter is it's extremely short range requiring the thing to get right up in the face of it's target, and it can't really deal with VTOLs (but unless you're running a mission solo with the Firestarter, your lancemates should be able to handle the VTOLs for you easily enough....L Lasers or PPCs can blast them out of the sky with ease, which is something that even the humble Panther can manage). Though my #1 favorite Mech is the _Battlemaster_ hands-down (and I can easily see why the Battlemaster is the favorite Mech of Hanse Davion). Especially with the Solaris DLC, give that thing one or two PPC-X and then load it with as many M Lasers as you can fit, and then max it's armor and load it with as many DHS as possible and you have a fairly speedy Assault-class Brawler Mech (it's as fast as a Centurion, at 64 kph, which is very quick for an 85-Ton Assault like the Battlemaster, as most Assaults have a speed of 48 kph [though the Annihilator is, alongside the Urbanmech, the slowest Mech in the game with a speed of 32 kph]) while still having thick armor and a ton of mid/close-range firepower (I can rather easily kill an Atlas-P with a modified Battlemaster-1G equipped with 1 PPC-X and 6 M Lasers, and I can do so very quickly [via taking out the Atlas' head, which usually just takes 2-3 "volleys" from it's 6 _Tier 1_ M Lasers to destroy] while having tough enough armor to survive quite a bit of punishment in return....I even removed it's stock SRM6 & Machine Guns so that I could turn it's Left Arm & Torso into an expendable "shield" arm/torso and also free up some extra Tonnage for more DHS to allow me to fire the 6 M Lasers all at once with minimal issue, and the PPC-X just shreds through armor once my Battlemaster gets into close range). My Battlemaster-1G has been handling the Arena quite well thus far. My Battlemaster managed to take out both a Highlander and Longbow by itself without taking _any_ damage whatsoever (the Highlander was absurdly easy to headshot to death, and the Longbow lacked any close range weapons and only had 2 LRM 20s & 2 LRM 5s). It won an Assault-class Free-For-All without a single armor breach even to it's "shield" arm, and it was up against some hefty Assaults like the Atlas, Highlander, and Awesome.
I just started this game, like 8 hours in, was filling kind of hopless with the starter mechs. Looking forward to getting some of these bad boys you showed off.
Yeah it gets better. The early game was rough for me and it takes a while to unlock good stuff. I'm glad i was patient though, smart plays have paid off
I like the spread of mechs, i play mw5 regularly and have a few of the same mechs in my regular rotation. I have them set up a little different because everyone who plays does, id like to see what you have for upgrades equipped.
I always come back to this video, some brilliant 'end game' info here for what to aim for. However I would have loved you to do a video showing how you can work towards this kind of level, like where did you get the Mechs from, the epic level weaponry etc...how did you build your Merc Company?
Hero mechs are random, but some are scripted in mission, like the ARC-AGN. Heard that you're supposed to only get 1 Hero mech, but I've had 2 hero firestarters, 2 hero archers, 2 hero orions. In my 1st playthrough, never found Marauder II. In this playthrough (with all 5 DLC), I have 2 of them. Went to a random location for a hero mech, got a Marauder II as well. As for the tier 5 weapons, heard that you could edit them in certain text files. Find your level 0, 2, 3, 4 weapon, change them to 5. Does NOT work for tier 1. As for C-bill, easy editing. Watch my video on how to edit money & item quantity. I have 800 DHS, 800 tier 4 srm 4 & 6, 800 tier 5 med laser.
Something to consider early in the game if you're half a pilot is to take a fast light mech like the Jenner, Spider etc & stick a pilot in your med mech. Then use your speed to flank enemy mechs & take 'em in the rear. It would be nice if the AI woukd do that but the combination of poor AI & the low rating of your new pilots won't have them employ this tactic. This is exactly what you do with your fast mechs in the Classic tabletop game.
Was the hunchback left out due to it's slow speed. Those pack a hell of a punch and cannot ignore them on the field. I run a 4P, and melt cockpit and center torso on even assault mechs. Granted it is a knife fighter, you can still throw 4 lasers on chain-fire to eat the small fries. So yes, I know it is slow and doesn't have the range, but you get close you can wreck most anything. I see one I will primary it over any heavy or lower.
Whenever I see one on the field I always throw all my firepower at that Right Torso. Hunchbacks definitely punch above their weight and always deserve respect.
@@Njordin2010 Chopper or ground turret usually take 2 M Laser hits. Leaving them on chain keeps the ability to drop two lesser targets without waiting for global cool down.
I actually like the tonnage limit.(well, 'like' in the long term, not when staring at it and facing bullshit.) Gives you a reason to keep some backbencher medium mechs in reserve. And kit them out too >:)
mech assault and mech assault 2 lone wolf og xbox games. loved them. before them the only mechwarrior games i had played were on the super nintendo, which looked like a cross between desert strike and mech commander.
funny that you mentioned that noone had the first mechwarrior. well i did and i still have the original game with box, somewhere. i just had finished the crescent hawks inception on the amiga in 89, btw still great game that you can easily get for any amiga emulator, and was looking for more games in the battletech universe. lucky me that mechwarrior came out around the end of the year. damn that game was amazing back then. i can even remember what system i was running the game on, a 386dx-33 i just got with a video seven 1024i graphics card with a nec multisync 3d monitor.
Weird that you use non-ST versions for the LRMs on occasion. I find that LRM-ST is a straight up upgrade and since it doesn't weight more I see no reason to not use it.
so i just started playing this and have a question. why so fond of jump jets? are they actually good to run, i take them out of every single mech in favour of more heat sink/ammo. should i actually be running them? while i understand ultimately its personal preference, but as i say, i have just started so i don't know if what I'm doing is actually bad to do.
Depends on what you're trying to do. A lot of these maps have canyons and mountains that you have to run all around or you could save tons of time jumping over them
Jumpjets can be useful on the Mech you yourself pilot - if 3D mobility fits your playstyle - but I don't allow them on my AI lance mates, because, in my experience, they tend to take more damage from enemy fire while doing less effective shooting on their own when they have jump capability. My personal preference is to avoid jumpjets completely and use that extra weight first to max out armor and then to add heatsinks (few mechs require more than 1-1.5 tons of ammo for their loadouts; avoid mixing LRMs and SRMs on anything that isn't near the upper end of heavy mech at minimum). Note that a few special missions/quests require jumpjets, so be prepared for that before taking on these particular missions.
Honestly I'm surprised you didn't show off the ANH-1X annihilator it quad LB 10-X AC's are OP I've yet to see something I can't 3 shot most things I two shot with the exception of other 100ton mechs those are the one that takes 3 but still that's not much
where do you get those tier 5 weapons from…and those double heat sinks? how do you get all that money, when your hangar is so full? what about your mech pilots sallary? how do you keep them from losing their arms all the time?
My guy! You need to find a way to play mechwarrior 1, it’s where traveling between systems and taking contracts for c-bills or salvage started.. way ahead of its time .. the care and feed and build your collection of mechs is the best thing they brought back in mechwarrior 5 from Mechwarrior. It was on 3 1/2 inch floppies that were blue and had a black and yellow label with the words. Activision game around 1989.
I'm actually playing MW5 Mercenaries on Xbox one. I can't believe how they destroyed the weapons slot system. Eg: large slot for ballistic can only equip *ONE* machine gun. Wtf were they thinking ? Now it's all about having the largest weapon possible for a slot. The game still good.. but it reduces greatly the possibilities for weapons diversity.
I have also played MW (including MW1) since the early days, and have played as BattleTech (table top and computer) from the beginning, and have read literally every book on the BT universe up to the Word of Blake timeline where I lost interest. You might want to investigate the "Yet Another MechLab" group of Mod's. It makes MW5 a new game. Then again, I have over 1.2K of vid's on the subject.
PPC might as well be called Pin Point Cannon. It deals heavy isolated damaged in ONE point. The draw back us hitting that one point consecutively is impossible. But if you fire two at the same time it can deal extreme damage to whatever it hits. If you have a mech that can fire 3 or 4 PPCs at a time it’s a one shot lethal kill.
I used to play 1st edition table top game. Got out when they stopped producing. But your right about the lore. Which is what I love to read that and novels. Keep the dream alive. I've got to start buying new novels
Just a small favor, if you could throw out a tiiiiiny tutorial on heat sinks, where to place them and how much weight you should sacrifice for them... that'd be fantastic. My Buddy was running my mechs last night, and as stupid as it sounds, were struggling to pin down where to distribute out single/double heat sinks
Some of the central body sections have 1 or more dedicated heatsink slots, you can put a big double sink in a small slot there Body is generally good coz it's got more structure/hp and components survive better there Put the double sinks in the dedicated body slots where possible Check the max structure/hp of limbs, put your things in tougher limbs You can often reduce leg structure/hp by a few points to maximize full weight/armour space everywhere else You can even have shitty legs to beef everything else up, just don't put any components in the legs
Go to Custom settings and make repairs free, ammo free(only have to have 1 ammo for each gun used and it unlimited), turn on the heat dissipation to make to so you don’t over heat as fast. Basically make everything free and your mechs repair instantly. The game is shit without those setting applied unless you have no life and all you do is game cause that game is a grind
Here is an advice. Focuse on grinding on davion only. Get max negotiation points to get tons of c bills and recovery points to salvage mechs and sell them and then in the center of davion territory you will find the biggest industrial hub in the game. Like 15 planets all line up in a single hub. In there i managed to get a zeus, 2 kintaros, a legend warhammer (the black widow) a orion, a black knight, a stalker, an atlas and lots of level 3 to 4 weapons. The reason why i recomend davion for grinding is because davion is the easy level. There are no dificulty settings, the dificulty are the house territories with davion as light easy, liao as medium easy, marik as medium, steiner as light hard and kurita as hard. The mechs you can get depend also in the time line and your reputation but it still random.
I had mech warrior 1 might still have the manual somewhere. It was on the small hard floppy disk it was a bunch of them, it ran on DOS and took forever to install.
Was trying to find the vid of you playing Clannad , It was years ago and was a wwp request. I just remember it being funny , think the vid must of been deleted.

Yeah you get better stuff and weapons as you go on. This is mostly end game stuff
Yeah it gets better. The early game was rough for me and it takes a while to unlock good stuff. I'm glad i was patient though, smart plays have paid off
Theres high value missions that will give you decent heavies that are real easy to do with starter mechs.
I like the spread of mechs, i play mw5 regularly and have a few of the same mechs in my regular rotation. I have them set up a little different because everyone who plays does, id like to see what you have for upgrades equipped.
I grew up playing mechwarrior 2 /mercenaries I never played the story just did instant action
Same here.
Hell yeah. I have the sidewinder joystick that was a package deal with mercinaries and duke nukem 3d combo deal from sams club. Like 1995 .
I always come back to this video, some brilliant 'end game' info here for what to aim for. However I would have loved you to do a video showing how you can work towards this kind of level, like where did you get the Mechs from, the epic level weaponry etc...how did you build your Merc Company?
Yea I want to know tje same thing
Love these gameplays.
This is exactly what you do with your fast mechs in the Classic tabletop game.
where can i get the old mechwarrior games?
Medium Rifles, Mk4 and Mk4+ are, in pairs, essentially a single CQB super-Gauss, for less weight. They are poggers.
Why chain?
@@Njordin2010 Probably for heat management and not blowing all cooldowns at once.
@@Njordin2010 Chopper or ground turret usually take 2 M Laser hits. Leaving them on chain keeps the ability to drop two lesser targets without waiting for global cool down.
I just wanted to relive Mech Assult 1&2 now I gotta learn shit. Thanks for the video
I actually like the tonnage limit.(well, 'like' in the long term, not when staring at it and facing bullshit.)
Gives you a reason to keep some backbencher medium mechs in reserve. And kit them out too >:)
I played Mechwarrior 1 DOS 1989. Loved it and played everyone after. Couple favs were Mechwarrior 3050 for snes and Mechwarrior 2 mercenaries
In earlier games of MW I used to snipe mech legs with G-rifles, those weapons are beyond OP as long as you don't act stupid.
mech assault and mech assault 2 lone wolf og xbox games. loved them. before them the only mechwarrior games i had played were on the super nintendo, which looked like a cross between desert strike and mech commander.
Earth siege was stupid nasty waaaaay back. I’ve always loved these types of games
how can you even play this game without YAML??
Playing it vanilla is like playing with lego duplo as an adult
funny that you mentioned that noone had the first mechwarrior. well i did and i still have the original game with box, somewhere.
i just had finished the crescent hawks inception on the amiga in 89, btw still great game that you can easily get for any amiga emulator, and was looking for more games in the battletech universe. lucky me that mechwarrior came out around the end of the year. damn that game was amazing back then.
i can even remember what system i was running the game on, a 386dx-33 i just got with a video seven 1024i graphics card with a nec multisync 3d monitor.
Weird that you use non-ST versions for the LRMs on occasion. I find that LRM-ST is a straight up upgrade and since it doesn't weight more I see no reason to not use it.
This
My dad had mech warrior 1 on pc DOS loved playing it
I just aquired a nightstar. 95 tons, 2 tier 5 heavy rifles , 1 tier 5 er ppc , and 2 mp lasers. Those rifles one shot cockpits
so i just started playing this and have a question. why so fond of jump jets? are they actually good to run, i take them out of every single mech in favour of more heat sink/ammo. should i actually be running them? while i understand ultimately its personal preference, but as i say, i have just started so i don't know if what I'm doing is actually bad to do.
Depends on what you're trying to do. A lot of these maps have canyons and mountains that you have to run all around or you could save tons of time jumping over them
@@BLACKB0ND yeah true, that's fair man, can put me in a bad spot if I have to run all the way around
The UAC 5 on my Marauder is murderous. Love it
Does anyone know where or how u can get mech commander 2?
Awesome video man thanks!
Where to get all tier 5 weapons? Thanks
Great gameplay vid
How do u unlock more weapon slots? That u see there grey and some says arm weapon slots well u may understand lol?
Different Variants have different hardpoints
Thanks for the vid mate :)
Im surprised you haven’t mentioned a couple broken vanilla mechs
Honestly I'm surprised you didn't show off the ANH-1X annihilator it quad LB 10-X AC's are OP I've yet to see something I can't 3 shot most things I two shot with the exception of other 100ton mechs those are the one that takes 3 but still that's not much
I had MW 1 :). It was amazing...for its time.
where do you get those tier 5 weapons from…and those double heat sinks?
how do you get all that money, when your hangar is so full? what about your mech pilots sallary? how do you keep them from losing their arms all the time?
Where do u f8nd the hero marauder 2 bud and the kr atlas variant
And does the hero atlas u have, have a specific date u can aquire it around ?.
It unlocks at a certain time period after a DLC mission expansion I believe
not true i do have Mechwarrior 1 as well as all the other Mechwarriors too
Join the cult of ER Small Lasers. Nuff said.
I have a Marauder IIC. It has 6x SRM6 + ARTIV (C). It literally one-shots Combat Leaopards.
Mech assault lone wolf was xbox and they had chrome hounds back then 2 another soild amazing game
What does the Artemis fire control do?
Tightens the spread of missiles so the damage clusters in a smaller area.
As someone who owned Mechwarrior 1 when it was new, I take slight offense at the insinuation that I don't exist. :p
Am I using them wrong, or are PPCs trash?
PPC might as well be called Pin Point Cannon. It deals heavy isolated damaged in ONE point. The draw back us hitting that one point consecutively is impossible. But if you fire two at the same time it can deal extreme damage to whatever it hits. If you have a mech that can fire 3 or 4 PPCs at a time it’s a one shot lethal kill.
Juicy list of available machines.
Top inspirational video. Why no yaml though?
What tier are those weapons and how do you get them
Orange Tier is the max tier after tier 4. I found them by doing missions or simply buying them in store
@@BLACKB0ND rank?
why jump jets? they seem like a waste of tonnage.
I used to play 1st edition table top game. Got out when they stopped producing. But your right about the lore. Which is what I love to read that and novels. Keep the dream alive. I've got to start buying new novels
Check out big red 40K. There's some new stuff coming. I think it's called the mercenaries kickstarter. There's a big table top revival going on.
Stay away from the Dark Age books. But the ilclan era is good
Gauss weapons are similar to railguns they magnetically launch metal slugs no gun powder needed.
Great picks!
Dude I appreciate this video, I learned from it but “Nobody owns Mechwarrior 1” is the silliest sentence I’ve heard this week.
hey bro do you like mechwarrior? :P
the xbox games were called mech assault i believe
Just a small favor, if you could throw out a tiiiiiny tutorial on heat sinks, where to place them and how much weight you should sacrifice for them... that'd be fantastic. My Buddy was running my mechs last night, and as stupid as it sounds, were struggling to pin down where to distribute out single/double heat sinks
Some of the central body sections have 1 or more dedicated heatsink slots, you can put a big double sink in a small slot there
Body is generally good coz it's got more structure/hp and components survive better there
Put the double sinks in the dedicated body slots where possible
Check the max structure/hp of limbs, put your things in tougher limbs
You can often reduce leg structure/hp by a few points to maximize full weight/armour space everywhere else
You can even have shitty legs to beef everything else up, just don't put any components in the legs
Hey , I own Mechwarrior 1 ! Yeh I’m old
I miss the og mech warrior game . Its sad the i cant run it on my newer pc
I am using a mauler with same specs, but swaped uac5s in favour of dual heavy rifles…. It hits like a truck
Need to get the corsair. 2 ppc 2 gause even the npc use this thing well and can keep up in damage if i donot use my agincourt.
I'm pretty new to the game and currently running a lance of battle master , tbt , Vulcan and hunchback 💀
400 tons, the light Steiner Scout lanze
Bro those mechs are to die for
You didnt play mw1? I remember that i bought my first pc only to play this game
No king crab ?
I am still grinding to get my assault mechs. I never seem to have enough money or decent weapons yet.
Just find the memory address where your gold is stored, then just change it to whatever amount.
I had mech warrior 1 might still have the manual somewhere. It was on the small hard floppy disk it was a bunch of them, it ran on DOS and took forever to install.
Anyone else notice his ammo? Is that low? I bring so much more it seems ridiculous.
That's fine in 99% of cases IMO
When in doubt run Mechs with energy weapons as either primary or backup.
Ya I had to stop half way through the ammo was very low without a balance of backup weapons.
The Rise DLC is brutal, shits always under repair lol
lol, I hate to say it, but I still have Mechwarrior 1. Just can't find my commodore 64 battle tech that came out in the mid 80's
I owned the first Mechwarrior on my C64c
I just think we should common sense mech laws. You dont need an assault mech.
Battlemaster is overall the best mech in the games… best for pilot kills
I wish you had shown the Mauler's detailed loadout
Try the Timberwolf prime
Was trying to find the vid of you playing Clannad , It was years ago and was a wwp request. I just remember it being funny , think the vid must of been deleted.
Yeah that games trash
Mmm, love me some'v that good ole' grimdark.
i still own mechwarrior the first game i remember we had to put the code in just to play
good vid.
I'm guessing this isn't the base game and instead is modded to hell and back ?
Nope. Base game, just endgame.
Time for dlcs review
i actually do own mechwarrior for dos and snes
edit: I also own battletech for snes
ST stands for STREAK, not Stream!
You are correct lol
