DI is in my top 3, so I splurged on this. SO jealous of that paint; Wendy did a great job! My set was missing a blue trooper, so I emailed Dire Wolf and they quickly sent me a replacement. The upgrade is lovely, and the storage is great, but it is expensive for something that is purely cosmetic. But for what it is, it's great. The little colored troopers in lieu of the cubes are my favorite bits.
Roy: I’m a huge fan of the IP. I grew up immersed in this stuff! Also Roy: the um… the ah… the barony guys or whatever. Nothing like live unscripted performance!
The missing Dreadnoughts are such a huge oversight for me, I mean you bling factions tokens and even the first player token but not 1 of the 2 "army" units in the game?
I'm prob unusual here, but for me the cubes are perfect. They are functional and keep the board and box minimal. I'm really glad these are an extra to keep costs down. Miniatures are also not great unless you paint them, which is more time and cost.
I too like the minimalistic look of the base game. I wouldnt mind a bit more stylized cubes, there are some on Etsy ive been thinking about that has some etchings on the sides, but I want them to remain cubes. The faction tokens and player agents I really like though.
This upgrade (along with the etsy bits) really make this game gorgeous. The box makes setup an absolute breeze, I get this game to the table much more now. If you love Dune I highly recommend it!

I guess I’m here to validate a purchase I already did, I’m luckily quite happy with it, it added a lot to the board. The sleeves were only a US thing though. Thanks for the review.

I like the idea of having mini figures instead of cubes for the conflict phase but I might pick up a copy of Risk 2210 for $10 and use the figures included in that game as a replacement.
The paint job looks great but I think I'd rather have had the review done before the paint job. Otherwise, it feels like a misrepresentation. Especially since this product is purely aesthetic. I wouldn't mind seeing the painted miniatures at the very end or as a separate video.
That's why we shot the separate b-roll footage in there of the unpainted minis. It would have been preferable, but we painted them for the live-play from last Spectacular.
Yes. You just need to add the Spy tokens, and then the upgrade box will work for either game. Uprising already includes the Sandworm minis (and the wooden ones) for you to use everything minis or everything wooden depending on preference.

Just echoing what others have said. This is massively overpriced. The lack of resource upgrades hurts this. The basic plain, grey mini statues are worthless. Unless you paint them. You have no idea who has what looking across the table. We just went back to the chits. The agents are almost as bad.. luckily you have colored rings. However.. we went back to the agent meeples eventually. Especially because there aren't minis for the expansion. Literally the only thing we use are the color specific minis for combat.. and the metal coin. That's it. Never been so disappointed in an upgrade. This more than doubles the cost of the game and makes it worse. I'd absolutely avoid getting this unless you plan on painting the minis. Even then.. it's stupid expensive.

Kinda annoying that most of the component showcase is out of focus - it's a shame because they look stunning on the B-roll! Great job with the painting! Too bad box doesn't fit sleeved cards well as people buying expensive deluxe upgrades tend to cover their cards in shrinkwrap :P

The team at Dire Wolf are probably beating themselves up over it. Imagine how cool it would look for a looming dreadnought over arrakis or in battle.

surprised this got the seal of approval. doesn't even come with enough sleeves for the expansion, no upgraded dreadnaughts, and mini are not painted

This set may be worth it just because the regular wooden pieces have been wearing away from all the plays we've had
