The last 2 EVs of the 510 total do not affect stats but are included so that the EV diagram in game shows the EVs as maxed
Stats at lvl 100 w/ perfect IVs:
HP : 314
Defense: 275

NPC Advantages: this strategy does not work if any of these NPCs are on your team: tauros, sylveon, arcanine, staraptor, toxapex. This is because they all have a way to lower sceptile's attack, but once malamar skill swaps contrary onto sceptile, this causes the NPCs to instead raise sceptile's attack. arboliva is also incompatible, because it lays terrain and boosts the damage of leaf blade. gardevoir (life dew), drifblim(will-o-wisp), and paralyzers (bellibolt, umbreon, and dudunsparce) help.
Strategy: skill swap sceptile. rest + heal cheer when HP gets low (which will happen if sceptile targets malamar w/ leaf storm on turn 0, which happens 25% of the time, so you can just reset the raid to avoid the early setback). tera blast until your stats reset. 3x nasty plot. charge tera orb with tera blast if needed. terastalize, tera blast to victory.
Notes: reflect and swagger (-2 atk when sceptile has contrary) are good options for reducing damage taken. however, the only way to make room for them is to get rid of rest. i tried both and lost. the issue is that you end up needing a lot of healing before you're done setting up (before that the shell bell is useless). heal cheers work if you're lucky but rest is far more reliable.
Pros: supereffective tera type, great def stat, good spatk stat, immune to breaking swipe after terastalzing. no weaknesses. skill swap gives the contrary ability to sceptile, which causes dragon dance to lower, rather than raise, its atk and speed. it also removes contrary from malamar, enabling it to use nasty plot, which buffs 2 spatk stages. rest heals full HP bar. tera blast has 80 base power, 100 accuracy, and deals supereffective STAB damage when terastalized. shell bell heals when attacking, proportional to damage dealt.
Cons: incompatible with six of the eighteen possible NPCs, tera type mismatches base type, mediocre HP stat, poor spdef stat, outsped by sceptile (until it debuffs itself w/ dragon dance)

Love that you’ve added ratings to these builds now. I often use superpower with Malamar as the contrary ability just buffs you whilst you build up your tera charge
so glad to hear you enjoy the ratings. I agree that superpower on contrary malamar is awesome. only reason i didn't do it here is because I didn't realize there was a way to pass contrary to sceptile and also keep it. but it worked well in the emboar raid :

I'm still feeling honored btw cuz u made a video with Malamar just cuz i talked about it 😂 It's actually a great option for many tera raid battles who like spamming dragon dance or have Moxie, like Dragonite or Gyarados.
it definitely was your comment that prompted me to take it solo this time around, but if you search my channel you'll see I already had support skill swap contrary malamar for this raid, solo stellar contrary malamar for the emboar raid, and solo skill swap contrary malamar for the meganium raid. it is indeed a super versatile pokemon. too bad its stats kind of suck, but it's a worthwhile tradeoff.

I actually let my Malamar die after Swapping abilities to get it's Contrary back. And then i kept spamming Superpower till my stats were maxed. I didn't even need rest or anything.
that's clever! i never thought of letting malamar get KO'd to reacquire contrary.
Never would have though about using Rest in this one. I have a Malamar close to this (Swagger in place of Rest)I've been using online as a primary support mon.
Nice. I tried using swagger but encountered survivability issues so I switched to rest.
