the strat was clever to begin with even with just malamar and court change; did not expect the synergy with sceptile though, that put a smile on my face. great video!
Agreed! honestly i wonder how sceptile is doing. i honestly always never picked the grass types in any of the games except bulbasaur where possible like in gen 6. then i watched a video and learned superior is actually pretty crazy and im a gen 5 boy. (who preferred emboar because why not).
Kinda beginning to take an interest in grass starters. am i becoming the weird kid? because as far as im aware 90% of people pick the fire or water starters in their games.
Either way, that sceptile was cool! i hope to see a video on what sceptile can do at some point. very interesting stuff.

Malamar is also really funny in doubles as it has skill swap, you can give contrary to a hydrapple then set up trick room and with leaf storm and draco meteor it will get free max spa. You can also use stored power and psych up to copy the stat changes of the hydrapple and have 2 max spa pokemon both soamming insane stab moves
The thing is, it requires Hydrapple to take two hits, one for Skill Swap and one for Trick Room. Hydrapple doesn't have terrible bulk, but it also relies on Regenerator a lot (and it can't switch out or else it loses Contrary). It seems like a risky setup that could lose you the battle on turn 1 or 2.

The Aurora Veil on your side wore off earlier because it was the first Aurora Veil set up, not because they had Light Clay and you didn't. The Light Clay effect was on both
Let's not forget, Malamar gets Skill Swap, so you can do some crazy stuff with the ability in doubles

I meant to say this the other day, but Frostitute is like a top tier nickname for Froslass, just like it is for the old Jynx WiFi battles. But Epilep-Z for Porygon, I think, has now become my favorite. Your name game is always on point, I don't recall seeing Drillionaire before and that's another like top 10 nickname.
Definitely one of the most fun strats I've seen - not just Cinderace+Malamar, but loved the late game Sceptile with unburden too!

You can also use trick on Malamar to give contrary to other Pokémon. Anything that uses Draco Meteor or Close Combat is really fun.

I genuinely think that you are a vanguard of the metagame. Tera Stellar Malamar sounds like three levels above the amounts of crazy it normally induces.
This is GameFreak bouncing the more niche pokemon off of the Terastal mechanic and I cant wait for the day where they re-introduce Shedinja.
Currently replaying ultra sun, and for some reason inkay learns foul play (a 95 base power move) at level 8. Love the squid.

5:45 I think your aurora veil also lasts 8 turns because the Ninetails set it up, they just set up their own after yours so it lasted longer

I used to do a reverse Sticky Web team before too back in the Sun and Moon era using Defiant and Competitive mons using Purugly, Wigglytuff, Primeape, Gothitelle. Good times.

Broke: Bring a rapid spinner or Defogger to every game.
Bespoke: Set up hazards against yourself to you can destroy kids.

Malamar also has access to Topsy-Turvy, which can ruin a swords/dragon dancer if you get the right callouts.
I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now daily and I’ve really come to appreciate the game IQ you have. It’s insane, not just the strats but the fact you can adjust so quickly when the strat doesn’t play out like you want.
Malamar is one of my top 5 fave mons and i love the way it can just run a train on fools if they dont know about it
We didn't get a chance to run it back with a second battle, but it was a malamar slaughter and so that makes up for it 😂
Back in Pokémon Y I had a contrary Malamar on my playthrough team. Loved this mon ever since, so fun to use. Psychic/Dark type with Psycho Cut and Night Slash high crit rate is fun as well.

Hey Love ur vids, idk if u already have a plan for Smergle but I think I may have came up with good moveset for it (mostly because I couldn't do this with Scorvillain)
basically make it learn Spicy Extract and Foul Play (I also gave it Fake out and acrobatics with a Mirror herb but you can do something else) I guess u can give it the ability Moody too but I haven't tried that yet. I'm sure u could make it an interesting mon to play with.
Alternatively, you can put Malamar on a Trick Room team and have it use Trailblaze to decrease its Speed stat, thus making it faster.
