Can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Scarlet and Violet using only grass types?
Nuzlocke rules:
- Fainted Pokemon must be permanently boxed
- Only the first encounter on any given route may be caught (dupes clause)
- All pokemon must be nicknamed
Hardcore Rules:
- Always Set mode
- No items from the bag option in battle (held items are ok)
- No overleveling the next gym leader
Custom Rules
- No setup moves
- No terastalizing

I think that was their plan was to make us underwhelmed then give us the evo
Only problem is its evolution made the other two kinda pointless in comparison. Its better overall than both.

something that makes the mela fight way, WAY easier is that if you wait for it to rain in the overworld before starting her battle, her torkoal's drought actually fails, and now you go into the battle with all her fire moves at half power
Can we all just appreciate Amoonguss for literally dodging death multiple times in this video. Like seriously, for a Pokémon that is mostly involved with memes, that thing and Hydrapple carried the team

My feelings on Hydrapple: It is very cute and I think it's a clever concept, especially when you can actually see all the other heads.

My first playthroughs of gen 9 was grass only! Love the grass types added and returning here so much but it was definitely tough and I haven’t even nuzlocked this gen successfully with the whole dex so haven’t tried mono type locks yet, but love seeing them here for some ideas lol

Hydrapple is awesome! I was disappointed in applins stats for what was a new typing (I assumed the dragon type would have put it to atleast midtier-Hightower and grass is very versatile) this thing is what I originally expected from applins evolution but it’s a shame it’s meant to be this only is post game more or less

This is probably gonna go down as one of the most casualty intensive Nuzlockes in a hot minute.
I'm honestly so surprised and exited that they ended up giving an applin evolution its own evolution and I really love hydrapple now that I know it exists😃

i was wondering how do you treat encounters in gen 9? i mean in monotype nuzlockes do you just catch everything you can find or what
I'm questioning for Scarlet & Violet Nuzlockes, do you do a bunch of work involving with the EV's? And I see you put out 2 Nuzlockes in about a week's time so not sure how you do it when I know how long these things can take.

Would've been cool if had Indigo Disk in this as well for other Grass starters and Pokémon that became accessible
Amoongus was MVP with surviving and Effect Sporing at clutch moments
Also Jolteon is best Kanto Eeveelution but Espeon is best period
I am currently attempting a similar playthrough, albeit no nuzlocke and with only “flower/plant based“ Pokémon like Lilligant, Tsareena, Cacturne, Vileplume etc etc. And boy oh boy, grass Pokémon sure have it rough in this one! 😅
Would love to see how you do with using only pokemon that don't evolve in a nuzlocke.
Silphspectre did one recently in RSE but in SV would be cool with Pokémon like Flamigo and even the Titan Pokémon since none evolve

34:40 I found that there's a bug in the game that when the overworld weather ends, if you're mid battle, it doesn't. I found that out when I relied on the sandstorm being gone in my nuzlocke. It was hard finding it out myself when the special move didn't quite kill
I've always liekd the Applin line, but it just didn't click all that much with me. All changed when I met Hydrapple ❤ I just wish we get evolutions for Flapple and Appletun as well

I haven't seen a Nuzlock in about 10 years. The rules have changed since my day.
Level caps were not a thing and it was a HARD rule that you HAD to nickname pokemon.

Ive played Scarlet a few times and didnt know you could get eevee that early. I always got mine outside Medali.
I did a grass hardcore nuzlocke before the DLC came out, and it was legitimately impossible for me to beat Mela with the available encounters 😭
This nuzlocke is the equivalent of playing dnd’s tomb of annihilation meat grinder mode 😂
Jolteon and Umbreon are the best two eeveelutions.

I got your back buddy, your auto correct must’ve changed espeon, to glaceon. Glaceon is dope tho. All eveelutions are, except flareon. Compared to literally every single other ego, flareon is basically just an eevee that failed to fully evolve

As soon as you got applin from the teal mask you could have evolved it into any of the three evolutions, since you can get syrup apples from mossfell confluence and sweet and tart apples from the ground in tagtree thicket. You could have evolved applin into dipplin, swung by porto marinada to get the assault vest, and you would have gotten an absolute tank of a mon
If anything, this nuzlocke showed, that Amoongus is a surprisingly stable Pokémon. :D

You can probably give your pokemon EV draining berries before battles to lower friendship if that still exists. I’m pretty sure herbs work too.
I'm wondering if Clear Smog Amoongus would've worked for...well, any of the star mobiles, but the Fighting Mobile especially. It learns it at Lv 20 and ecen though stat drops would've been reset so would those nasty attack boosts
you should do another randomized pokemon nuzlocke with random movesets and types as well as your other rules
Imagine with little / no Power creep and sticking with everyones ''nostalgic love buddy'' gens 3-5. You'd have been in tears even before halfway through the Gym run!! Thank Gamefreak for Meowscarada!

I don’t know if anyone else feels the same but I wish gamefreak would make Pokémon games with the option of being a bit harder. Either by giving us the permanent option of challenge mode OR built in nuzlocke settings. I went back and played shining pearl and it’s just to easy.
