I remember Jodhpur AFS where my dad was posted in No. 10 Squadron. We used to see MiG 27s "Swing wingers" landing and taxing off the runway from the roof of our quarters in the cantonment. I loved the sound of these jets, the amazing sight. These jets and my dad inspired me to join the IAF. Sadly, both my dad and the MiG27 have retired. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I missed coming to Jodhpur (my hometown for nearly 14 years as my Dad was posted here) for the final stand down of the MiG-27s. But those superb closeups of these mean machines totally took me into nostalgia. Thanks for sharing
just saw these upclose in the Jodhpur Air Force Museum, there it was even allowed to press buttons of the control stick and move the knobs of the HUD. amazing plane!
The same mentality of Indians who say Sachin Tendulkar shouldnt have retired this early You mean continue to put our pilots life in danger flying these vintage 1970s jet plane?. Gov't should think about replacing the Mig 21s "Flying Coffins" too. Only poor and small countries still use these.
@@loljk1991 MiG-21 is really sexy looking... and it should keep being modernized asf it's absolutelly legendary plane and should remain in use for very looong time just like Mi-24 hind helicopter being modernized... same with T-72 tanks being modernized heavily... with original T-72 being from 1972 xD
Aviation Wall Looks like this was final flight of type Mig 23 video. My fav scene 4:24. Mig 23 and 27 shows all three wing settings in one frame together. Wish it was high Resolution and more clear. You shoot videos brilliantly. Now only if IAF takes you to air and allows you to shoot from the back of C17 /An32/IL 76 or even better removes canopy of dual seat Aircraft and places you in the back of cockpit with your camera :)
Hope the IAF has preserved a few of these Swing Wing Beauties In Air Worthy Condition. Couple of MiG 23,s and MiG 27,s should be maintained for future generations to see.
First soviet answer to f 14 tomcat variable geometry air superiority jet. Now retired by both indian and russian air force. Served in many war in asia, last probably in kargil war, acted as a ground attack and close air support missions.
Anyone who says Mig 23/27 are junk is ignorant of the fact that they were faster with better climb rate than F16 A and F4 with which they competed and were essentially shoot and scoot planes. Plus their landing gear and amazing swing wings made them unique with STOL capabilities. Even Miraage 2000 had to be upgraded with Israeli radar to make them effective in Kargil. Fighter aircraft are only effective for the particular role they are meant for. Amazing birds, amazing video esp.. 4:24. Thanks a ton!

Excellent footage, very rare for these planes. It clearly shows that the main gear suspension didn´t have a lot of travel, it's pretty stiff! Thanks a lot!
I read an article which said these were retired atleast 10 years earlier. They were upgraded and could have lasted easily another 10 years but so fed up was IAF with the purposefully lethargy of HAL who didn't supply the necessary spares and required timely maintenance than IAF was forced to retire them.
MIG-23 is another awesome interceptor. It, like the MIG-21, have that look as to say, "I'm going to rip off your face." WOW! What a ride. At least they get a shower after working.
