Engine run up, it's standard for any aircraft. He is mostly testing to make sure the engines seem to be running normally, you really don't want to find out halfway though your takeoff run that your engine is acting up.
Apparently hearing protection is not an issue in Russia for ground crew. And to the ground crew...APPARENTLY HEARING PROTECTION IS NOT AN ISSUE FOR YOU.
