My dad flew a F-4 Phantom in Vietnam and continued flying the Phantom back at home @ George AFB after the war ended. Big, Bad, and Super Loud. Hearing sonic booms on a daily basis over the California High Desert was commonplace for me back in the 70's 80's 90's when I was growing up. Less than two years, after he retired from the Wild Weasels in 86', they closed George AFB, and the Phantom was later dropped after another 6-8 years, sometime in the 90's. It was the end of an era. I had a hard time sleeping because it got so quiet. I guess I needed to hear the power of the Phantom's engines to rock me to sleep - knowing that the world was safe, and that America was the greatest country on earth. I still live in the High Desert and still go over to Edwards AFB commissary - but even Edwards is very quiet these days. It's been at least least10 years since I heard a sonic boom there. I saw a B-1B on out on the flightline the last time I was there. Just sitting there, absolutely still... It was a spectacular sight. I can't describe the feeling that I had seeing it - and knowing that it was still being flown.
Father Guido, was an F-4 phase mech at George 87-91 and still hear the wavering sound off the hangar walls as two Phantoms would tuck their gear in my head to this day. I didn't stick around phor the base closure the following year as I moved back to NoCal, but my friend works at Edwards on lawn darts. Peace
@@goratgo1970 Oh, wow. We were practically neighbors. Dad died 10 years ago. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well w/you in NoCal. I love the F-16's too. I think the Phantom holds a special place in my memories for obvious sentimental reasons. Peace to you.
The F-35 takes so little runway. It's really amazing, IMHO. Plus, I looove the little A-4M "Humpback". Reminds me of MAG-14 when I first got to MCAS Cherry Point.....
This is a very marvellous compilation of various fighter jets especially the F-15E Strike Eagles , JAS-39C Gripen and most of all the F-4E Phantoms II 😎🤩
You just have to love the F4, even with all the modern hi-tech fighters of today, if I ever hsd the opportunity to fly in anything, I would go forbthe F4 any day, thanks for sharing this great video, best regards from Australia, Les
Back in the 1990s, the Alabama ANG flew F-4s. In those days you could go onto the field at KBHM and sit at the end of the runway while the F-4s were taking off. Insanely loud!
DAMN those F-35s have a short takeoff roll, it’s hard to tell where they past the markers, but looked like 1,000-1,500’ 😦 They past the camera with gear retracted at ~50’+ - that’s just crazy.
Growing up in Cold War Germany, the F4 was always a War Bird to be seen and heard. I will always Love this bird. The A-10 has my awe after watching it go to town on Republican Guard Units during my time in Iraq 2003-2004.
I came for the Mirage. I was at KAF and I miss driving past the egress end of the airfield with new guys and the sound of a Mirage freaking out new guys 😂
Agreed. Always thought the F-16 was the all-round best-looking hot-rod jet whilst the F-15 just looked "right." The Typhoon looks like refined class. I do think the Rafale is a good-looking jet as well, it has great curves.
@soulsphere9242 Ah yes! The Rafale's are a thing of beauty. Similar reasons to the Typhoon; they're just sexy. Think it's their sleek looks and intakes paired with the canards. F16s have a badass aggressive look.
THE F4's!!!!!!!! Ask most folks what's got a faster clean terminal speed an F35 or the ancient F4 and I promise most folks would say the tiny little F35. Not so my friends, the F4 would destroy the F35 in a high speed contest. (at altitude anyway)
My Dad is a Now Retired US Army UH-1 Huey, OH58, and AH1 Cobra pilot and was able to get me a Fam Ride with a Phantom Driver buddy of his that transitioned from Army Rotary Wing to USAF Fast Jets in the late 80s. Col Romero was at the time an RF-4C driver with the Alabama Army National Guard and I was deciding whether to go Air Guard or follow dad's footsteps and fly Helicopters in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Best Ride of my life and something I'll never forget. If I typed how Amazing it was doing mock fights with the Louisiana Air Guards Brand new F15s then picking a fight with the Navy Reserves 204th River Rattlers new FA18 A+. Our old girl more than held her own. I was pleasantly surprised that these RF4s had Sidewinders as well as the ability to carry SUU23 20mm centerline pods. Probably the biggest Non Event of the whole hop was having to be told I had broken the sound barrier lol. Hollywood had me thinking it would be buffetting like chuck Yeager in the Right stuff nope it was smooth as silk in and out of the transonic range. I could elaborate all day lol. As far as Fat Amy aka the F35A is concerned I blows my mind how underperfoming that jet is. If you compare specs on Wikipedia and thrust to weight ratios it should easily outrun the F4and it fails miserably in every metric.
It is kind of a pointless thing to brag about though as the design philosophy is completely different. The F-4 was originally designed as a high-altitude interceptor, the F-35 is a bomb truck. What matters is speed and range when carrying ordinance. As the F-35 is carrying most of its gear inside it is faster and more efficient under practical circumstances.
Thanks! The great F4 Phantom has big ugly shoulders and reminds me of watching Earl Campbell running the football. Just get out of the way and you won't get hurt.
Was AI used to help with the stills? because I don't know if it's just me but some of them look "painted" Like the Turkish F4's. Let me know if I'm crazy.
None of them compare to the English Electric Lightning straight up take off. I watched them when I was 12 yrs old taking of from what was RAF Wharton. I lived in Preston and in the beginning Lightning’s used to do sonic booms over the town until it was stopped. 12:15
Any modern 4th or 5th gen jet can climb straight up from take-off. The EE Lightning was impressive for its day, but all the 4th and 5th gen jets have a T/W ratio greater than 1:1.
I’ve always loved the Panavia Tornado. The low-level stability, the speed, the variable sweep wings, the range…just love that plane. Only the F-111 and F-8, I feel, were as underrated as the Tornado. Each were work horses and generally, were well ahead of their time. On the other hand, I’ve always felt the F-4 was far overrated. It was matched by cheaper and older fighters of its day. The F-8 seemed to be a far better option for air to air combat. And its capability as an attack aircraft? At the time, the F-111, A-6 and even the A-4 and A-7 all seemed to be as good or better. The F-16, per dollar, is the best fighter aircraft in history.
Love seeing the F-4 Phantom and the A-4.... Oldies but goldies.
MIG-21BIS
No MIGS? 😂😂 Love the Turkish AF painting of the F-16!
We all came for the F-4's. Admit it.
Phanthom eben❤❤
Yep!! I’m a F-16 guy (avionics), but there’s just something about the F-4s, and the F-15s that just makes the heart speed up a bit.😉😄👍👍
You really have that right!!!
Eww that's gross bro
I'm into aviation but not this way
F/A 18 is my choice. Aggressive looking fighter jet.
I love the sound of F4 engines idling along the flight line and roaring on takeoff.
I worked fighter aircraft for 20 years in the USAF. As a avionics system specialist. Seeing Fighters never get old.
F4 will always be a favorite but, that F35 going airborne in 200’ is badass!
Phantom what a fighter❤ !
Turkish Air Force - Solo Türk 🇹🇷 🦅
Thank you for taking beatiful shots.
Ne mutlu türküm diyene!
Those still shots are fantastic. What a treat to see this movie. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely fantastic footage and still photography…my favourites? The Tornadoes and the Turkish F16’s
That second Turkish Phantom was a beautiful sight.
That they shared the Airspace with Machines such as the Lightning II is mesmerizing
Thanks, Turks build different ❤
Phantom pilots rollin with the windows down, shades, heavy beats... 😎

Turkish Airforce F-4E Phantom 🖤🔥

Those phantoms have the up graded canopy ! Very nice ! 👍
Great video, lovely and clear and no stupid music - the aircraft made that ! Loved the really clear stills. Thanks a million. 👍👍
Love it, Thank You. I can smell the spent jet fuel!
When i was 10 in 1970 my uncle Jack piloted the F4 Phantom in Vietnam, i was in awe, still am. 🇺🇸
Maybe a different John , but amen brother !
@@bobwilson758 thanks, his name was Ian, but known as Jack. God bless you.
AWESOME departures, the F-4 departures would make General Olds Proud!!!

me too, probably as a kid I frew up with them for about 35 years from the sixties to the 80's,
Phabulous phantoms! Respect to all who flew them, and above all, those who landed them on a pitching deck, on a moonless, foggy night.
Very nice video. Those stills are so cool👍
Thanks a lot Saint, appreciate the kind feedback 👌
Such beauty! These gorgeous girls walking the runway like they know they got it going on!
Precioso trabajo, gracias.
Te mando un abrazo desde Rancagua, Chile.
Turkish air force nailed it.
Very cool. Thanks for posting.
Nice video work, especially liked the zoom-in stills, beautiful.
Wow...The Czechs even have an Air Force? Let alone having the vaunted J 39 Gripens?! I'm impressed and happy to see.
Fantastic video, thank you.
Dang, those F-35's had short takeoffs! F-15's and Typhoons were no slouches either.
Very nice videos. Also loved the excellent included still shots!
Great pics of Maroccan F-16👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
Omg thank you pilots for protecting our freedom!
Morocon f16s desert couples , beutifull.
----fantastic photos shots---
Good video and sound too. Amazing F15een, and F15een 👏👏👏
Thanks man 👌

You're welcome. Thanks for the comment 👍

A-4 is still a sexy little beast. Curves in the right places.
I agree. And the noise they make! Such a cool jet.
Love 'em!
Awesome Tornado formation takeoff image, 1:32 . Excellent.
I enjoyed that one too 👌
Once had a pair of them fly under me when gliding in the Lake District. 😅
Those F4s take off in installments don't they😎😂
Thanks for sharing 😊
Those Phantoms tho… goosebumps.
Excellent ❤🎉
Old Marine Phantom Phixer here.
RIP VMFA-333, best time of my life 🙂
I don't know. Out of all those planes? The F-15, F-16 and Typhoons are still the most sexy. Especially when fully mounted/ kitted.
Agreed. Always thought the F-16 was the all-round best-looking hot-rod jet whilst the F-15 just looked "right." The Typhoon looks like refined class. I do think the Rafale is a good-looking jet as well, it has great curves.

F-4... still the most sensationally-beautiful fighter ever produced. May they never leave the skies.
very nice photos you caught..
Thanks for the kind comment. I thought I'd try mixing some stills into the vids. People seem to love them
Them F35s omg
F4 - the best thx for the video

Tops thank you❤❤😊😊
No East no west...F16 is the best
Modern warbirds are sleek and fast and capable, but you cant' beat the F4 Phantom for in your face grunt and menace .
Those close up still shots are amazing!
Phorever Phantoms
Really nice photography !
😍😍😍 Love 😁
Wow menakjubkan, semoga negara saya punya pesawat tempur seperti ini
F4s Amazing 💞
Royal Air Force should've Union Flag on it's fighters and aircrafts, like the German air force.
100%!
Turkish Air Force = Cool! 👍🇹🇷
100%. The Solo Turk F-16s were so cool, but those Phantoms 🤤🤤

F16s from 1991 and still one of best 4th Gen planes out there.
Putin: you scared bro? 😅😂

the phantom is the meanest of 'em all.
F4 and Mig 31 are two jets that always draw my attention
Mario's Tonka, Let'sa Go!
I love that both the Turks and the Greeks have Phantoms in the field. Big old gals.
The phantom was the real winner, flaps down!
Moroccan F-16 colour scheme is awesome
stunning photos, nice job.....
Thanks a lot bud, I really appreciate that 👌

Much better than Airpower.
The F4 looked like, I’m going to kick your but and there’s nothing you can do about it.
just needed an EE lightning to make it perfect
Was AI used to help with the stills? because I don't know if it's just me but some of them look "painted" Like the Turkish F4's. Let me know if I'm crazy.
Try reading the warning labels... they're mostly garbled. Looks like some tool was used to sharpen and "reconstruct" the zoomed in photos.

question, what role does the F4 play? is it jamming or air to air combat?
F4s can carry some special ammunition that F16 aircraft cannot carry in bombardment missions.

Well spotted my friend 😎

Do we supply the f35s and f4s to other countries
Can anything beat a harrier jump jet take off and landing?
Impresiona el despegue del F35
All cool planes but there’s always something about the F-15. Like a flying Doberman….
Do you have F-104 videos in your archive?
How boring military aircraft are these days with just Grey except the Moroccan F16 in Desert Cam.
GOAT 8:00
The AI sharpening on the stills is a little too strong.
LINDAS AERONAVES.
The Czech Gripen looks like some teenagers tagged the tail.
The F 4 proof a brick can fly with enough thrust
What a Bad Ass...😍
