I love this aircraft so much that not only my first house in Hyderabad was named JAGUAR HOUSE, but also another after selling the first (can be reached on Google map using it as key word) Glad I spent all my 15 years (1979-94) of IAF service only on this fighter bomber in Ambala & Pune as Ground Radar Engr. Also proud that this aircraft is still in big news for its flypast events each year for RD parade, since induction. Happier to mention here is that the operation style of this aircraft (no ORP) allowed me to acquire 3 PG degrees in civil that catapulted my career graph to current Associate Vice President level in Data Patterns (I) Pl Ltd heading the Hyd branch, handling marketing of avionics, EW systems, missile electronics and other defence & aerospace electronics, where again we are upgrading Jaguar‘s avionics through HAL. I am sure these Shamsher aircraft will adorn Indian skies for another quarter century..Nabha Sprusha Deeptam 👏👏👏👏👏
Unlikely to be another 25 years of service, but definitely at least 10 more years for the oldest Jaguars to start retiring. The final Jaguar DARIN 3s will be around till 2035 at least, when the Tejas Mk2 starts arriving in service and taking over.
We Indians do have the greatest of minds and hard working people to make indigenous aircrafts as good or even better than other countries. We invested in the research and development of rockets and space technologies since 1960s and see where we are now. We even landed on the moon. If the govt had shown same interest and invested in R&D on aviation and military technologies then imagine how powerful our defense force would have been now
This is such an iconic aircraft as far as IAF is concerned. I have been lucky to see these first hand at #1 Sqn in Gorakhpur as well as sit in its simulator (i was 10 yrs old!!). One of the first public close view of this icon happened at Tilpath at IAF Golden Jubilee celebration, where one witnessed Jaguars low flying (almost tree hugging!) and ground attack demonstration. Nice vid and tribute to the icon. 💯💪✌
Excellent presentation! New engines are imperative for DARIN 3 upgrade. Jaguars are true value for money in the DPSA role. Upgrade costs spread out over 10 years will be easily manageable. These aircraft have a long way to go before retirement in 2035.
Unfortunately the Honeywell F-125IN engine replacement program has been shelved and Jaguars will not be getting new engines given the cost involved and the number of hours remaining on the airframes.

Yes, it has a/c and pressurisation. But it is more efficient during flying. Its primary and secondary heat exchangers are cooled by Ram air which is possible only during flying. On the ground the secondary heat exchanger can be cooled with the help of ejectors which gives more burden to the a/c system and Engine. This ejector ram air & a/c air is taken from the fifth stage of the secondary compressor of Rollroise Engine (mark 811) . I forgot many things about the electrical system of this marvellous Aircraft as I left my Jaguars 11 years ago. I did the secondary maintenance of almost all Jaguars in the Airforce. Still I remember the JT 076 Aircraft which is shown here
@DEFENCEGLOBE_HiteshAdhikari Thst is incorrect info. We have a very strong Navy, but our Airforce is extremely outdated. We are flying dinosaurs. We have the numbers in regard to aircraft but 70% are dinosaurs. In modern battle, it's not numbers, but stealth and advanced technology that makes the difference.
