That's so awesome! It should be like this for 70-ish % of us, so I hope that's the case for me and others watching too :)
I did read that a lot of people confuse the motivation and mood boost with the medication not working, so that's probably why so many are afraid (including me).
As it turns out, the mood boost and motivation is just a bonus, not the actual effect we should be looking for. The actual effect is focus, and that's still incredible!

I just passed the two year mark on Adderall XR. I've went from 15mg to 25mg, but so far I've been on 25mg the longest (11 months now) and it seems to be holding. At 25mg, I discovered that exercising first thing in the morning had a profound benefit. Now, I can't help but exercise, even if it's just for 10 minutes... but most days it's 30 minutes. I do this before the meds kick in. Somehow stimulants are causing me to make healthier life choices. They have given me the strength to work on myself first, and everything has gotten easier. I still have thought spirals sometimes, but I'd rather be moving forward, and constantly improving on myself than just staring at my computer screen doing nothing like I was 2 years ago. 😊

Thank you for this video! Very insightful. I read somewhere (and my psych told me) that neuroplasticity can be our friend over time. If we use the full effect of our medication to implement systems and strategies, they may still work even if we develop some tolerance. Because our brains have built some new neural pathways. So, as far as I understand, there's hope we won't return to where we were without meds.
Also, many people experience a honeymoon period when they start taking the meds, which inevitably passes after some time. This could also feel like the meds aren't as effective anymore.

This video came at the perfect time. I've been on 40mg just shy of a year now. And I've found myself questioning whether it's working as effectively as before. I definitely notice a huge difference in effectiveness during different parts of my cycle - but overall I was starting to wonder if I should be increasing my dosage, while I'm not against it, I'm trying to prolong doing so, hoping my tolerance doesn't increase as quickly. Overall, my focus has improved and when I'm having periods where I struggle, I've been able to develop some strategies that help me stay on track better.

    Hi!
when i was 11, I started on vyvanse. when I was 12, I had worked my way up to 70mL, the maximum for someone under 25 in australia. It didn't work by the time i was 13.
so yeah, it does stop working. my sleep worsened even more, i got dangerously close to being underweight, i had migranes- not much went well.
now, I'm trying out long-acting dex, 20mL and 10mL in the afternoon if i need to focus. there are bad side affects, there always will be, like a loss of appetite, occasional migranes, an increase to my insomnia, but i only need to take it when i need to focus, so holidays and weekends i dont take it (though i do need to ease myself back into full dosage after holidays otherwise my emotions go crazy.)
anyways, enough rambling- to answer your question, for me, at least, yeah. they do loose their effectiveness.

Gaining tolerance in just 1 week is absurd. I’ve taken oxycodone for a year and my tolerance has barely gone up.. the concerta 54 mg only worked for a week, then I had a few days off and it worked again.. I’m trying to alternate each day, do a painkiller day (for real pain don’t get it twisted) and a concerta day. To prevent both tolerances.

So I take Adderall xr but read that vyvanse last longer.Up to 14 hours! So do you take it as soon as you wake up? Otherwise I see where it could cut into your sleep. Talk to your doctor as you might need a different dose or medication. That should be easy enough to fix. But give medication time to see how it's going to work.

    • @wesside9722
      @wesside9722 6 месяцев назад

Or try Concerta… it works differently from vyvanse. Vyvanse increases the amount of dopamine your body creates, which can be overwhelming and cause a chemical imbalance. On the other hand, Concerta works by blocking your dopamine re-uptake receptors decreasing the absorption of dopamine, allowing more dopamine to roam freely in your brain

I have been on 15mg Adderall twice a day for nearly 30 years now. It still really helps. The difference doesn't seem as big as when I started because I'm used to that level of functionality. I do notice a difference between the different generic manufacturers. Some just don't quite work as well. With the shortages, I have had to pharmacy hop a lot so I've got some very solid personal experience with it. I liked the "feel" of Vyvanse better but have found the timing of the the release too unpredictable. Some days it was fine. Other days I would get a big afternoon slump (the kind time release is supposed to prevent) Then it would kick back in at like 11pm and ....I'm gonna be up until 2 or 3. But I digress. TLDR, my experience has been very stable. Your results may vary.

Omg this isn't the first time I've heard of the whole manufacturer story . What exactly is the deal with that? That always seemed so odd to me . I wonder why it has still been going on

i knew elvanse was a huge improvement on day two when i increased my dose thricefold from the first day (i know i know but my doctor explained that I would have to find how much I need and I am not the lightest person either so I gaged it accurately it seems)
anyway it is indeed a huge improvement but it's not a wonderdrugg, It doesn't go away, it just helps
and in my case I came from over a decade and a half of only knowing ritalin so I can compare the two which will indeed be harder for you to do. but you should both give it time AND START doing things that you need to get done, it's like a steam engine, it seems to do little to get you to start doing something but when you start it should motivate you to go the extra mile without needing to stop to stimulate yourself as it essentially just gives you the dopamine which your brain lacks (which is why you usually need to stimulate yourself to get it)

the brain isn't smart by "adapting" unless the brain loves misery and emptiness. it doesn't like anything helping it feel better. it wants to feel bleh. that's why it neutralizes everything.

I am sure that there are ways to counteract this like medication breaks and switching medication. From my perspective, the brain is smart because it gives rise to the mind or what we think of the soul or our personality. If someone loses function of part of the brain the pathways can be remade to regain some function (e.g. what they try to do with physiotherapy with stroke patients).
