- Obviously this is a magnification of what usually happens in these games, but still, with pokemon with lower HP is still extremely slow. Also I wish it would be just that the HP bars are slow, but there are many other things. Still pretty good games

@@pixlyJolt when I played platinum I had ev trained as blissey to have max hp/def ivs. I don’t know if this heracross raised its attack with a move like swords dance but generally I could survive a close combat with half hp and could spam soft boiled. Like I said though I don’t know the context of this situation.

I've always thought the DS games were way slower than the Gameboy and 3ds games. They're pacing is so slow that I have to use an emulator because I can't play them without ×2, which sucks because I'd rather play them legally.

@@kirin1230 The strange thing is is that the DS has the slowest and the fastest Pokemon games. Seriously, Pokemon Black and it's sequel is the only Pokemon game I have never experienced performance issues with.
The problem is that ponyta is the only fire type that isnt a atarter or legendary.

blissey’s base Defense is pretty low. its basically a special attack tank

Think of all the xp that heracross just got for taking out a lv 95 blissey. The time it will take for all the xp and levels to finally stop would probably double the time
Snail Bert its even more in gen 5 where the higher your opponent’s level to you, the higher the exp MULTIPLIER.

I find that spacing out on pokemon you want to keep helps instead of catching all those early route pokemon. Plus refighting trainers is a lot better than grinding in the wild

Sooo true. I recently started playing back pokemon black 2 and i was fighting against Iris' Haxorus lvl 59 with a flygon lvl 56. When haxorus used dragon claw i knew it wouldn't be that fine
The engine for Diamond and Pearl is so much slower than FireRed and LeafGreen until Platinum tweaked the slowdown issues.
The problem is that they programmed the health bar animation to go down 1hp at a time, they could easily have programmed it to go (in example) 2hp at a time instead for high quantities but they didn't want to, apparently. Anyway that doesn't have anything to do with the engine.
Platinum still have some slow moments, but not as many.

@@rockman7perez Walk speed is literally half of the walk speed of the previous games and the running is just a little faster than the walk speed of the previous games.
Animations took too long. Delay between messages was long. A lot of things on this game just took too long.

Right after reading your comment, I imagined Heracross wearing Jotaro’s outfit and punching Blissey like Star Platinum would with Star Platinum’s “Ora Ora” repeating and “Stardust Crusaders” playing until Blissey is sent flying like Steely Dan was.
The best part about this is how annoying it is to catch Chansey in most games, so it's pretty nice to share the annoyance with others I guess.
Ironically D P Pt are the games with the easiest Chansey to catch. You even get a Happiny egg.

See a lot of comments saying how ridiculous it is that a level 95 Blissey got one hit by Heracross. But Blissey has the lowest base defense stat out of fully evolved Pokémon, and is the second lowest out of all Pokemon, at 10. The only Pokemon with a lower defense stat is Chansey and Happiny, which both have 5.
Blissey is indeed tied with having the most max hp with Eternus (255), but defense and sp def. contributes more than HP for a Pokémons “tankiness”.
Lvl 54 252 Atk Choice Band Heracross Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 312-368 (43.6 - 51.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

AND if Blissey was EV trained, we still can't be sure what it's EV trained in anyway. Point is, there are too many unknown variables to start getting into specifics, so it should just be kept to looking at things at face value.

Haha hell yeah heracross is one of the strongest Pokemon using it's type move against a blissey which is a special wall. A lvl 100 Mewtwos psychic might get it to like a quarter down the bar
I'd definitely use a miltank any day of the week instead of a blissey. Miltank woulda survived that move at least Twice if they are same level. Or Tauros if it's first generation
@@vincenttenisci6270 blissey actually has a purpose as a special wall though. It may die to physical hits a miltank would survive, but it can just shut down special attackers entirely.

I like to think this is actually what happened. The Blissey really did stand there for half a minute before falling over.
I love D/P so I was super curious why someone would have a problem with it. This gave me flashbacks and brought back pain I didn’t even remember suffering through.
D/P is good but suffers mechanical problems that was somewhat fixed in Platinum
@@UltraAryan10 I heard from a lot of places that Platinum is better, gameplay and mechanic-wise. I only ever played D/P, but now I’m definitely going to get Plat for when I want to replay it :)
Platinum was great but I enjoyed D/P because it was more difficult since the pokemon in the elite four had higher levels

Time feels infinite at that age. Its why I despise how grindy games have become these days. Pay to win or time to win and time for a lot of people is even more scarce than money. Stinks but its the way things seem to be heading or have mostly already arrived tbh.

This is when I realized Patchoman is better than Pokemon.
I did as soon as they made visual effects for stats gains/drops, I did like those visual effects on Pokemon Emerald. The newer stats deviations were visually much harder to distinguish by hard.
Though Blissey does have by far the most HP at 255. That's absolutely massive and having 100 is already considered large. The second highest HP in the SInnoh Dex is the legendary Pokémon Giratina with 150. Then after the national dex it's Wailord at 170.
I took it as suspensful as a kid. It went so slow you got hope that you could survive the massive hit even though half the time you couldn't.

In gba versions the whole game ran a 60 frames per second. In the 4th gen it was wind down to 30 frames In the battle and the over world. In 5th gen the overworld was 30 frames per second but in battle it was cranked up to 60. I believe in 5th gen they maximized the ds hardware.
