Thank you so much for these videos! I recently became the owner of a Peugeot 308 T7 wagon, a 7-seater. It originally belonged to my brother-in-law, but after they bought a new CRV, the car was destined for the scrap yard. I decided to take on a full restoration instead, and your videos have been incredibly helpful. So far, I've removed and cleaned the cylinder head, valves, and more. A couple of years ago, I used one of your videos to successfully replace the timing chain on my R53. Your content is fantastic! Greetings from Adelaide, South Australia.
The section on "Identification of engine parts" is absolute gold! I don't have the nerve or the equipment to pull the engine out of the car for repairs, so this helped me better understand what I'm feeling around the back and what may be blocking what. Thank you for making this!
What a fantastic series of videos regarding the EP6 engine!!! I have a Peugeot RCZ and as hobby mechanic continuously fighting with all the issues that this motor has, I must thank you! I watched thousands of video but nothing is near as how yours are done! Perfect explanations with slow and relaxing voice, pictures, torques for the reassembling. Could not be better! I see that in the end of your videos you mention Debbie's timeline , in the beginning of the year my mother started her chemotherapy journey so I know how it can be. Hope everything will go well.
Thank you Steven. I have been distracted a bit learning to do some HGV work to help things a bit at home. RUclips contributes a little but sometimes you need some proper money coming in to help things.
Great vid, thanks. My son has the 1.4 in his 207. It has been a nightmare and has just lost power over 2.5 k regs again. We are running out of things to check, change, adjust... almost given up on it now, a pity as the car is solid and he has put many hours in. Never again...
Thank you. I need to get on with the rest of this series and strip this engine apart as planned. These engines are a nightmare. This one was working and destroyed itself just sitting at idle.
Thank you for that Aftab. I’ve been doing some HGV work in between working on the videos so things have slowed a bit. Hopefully I will produce a bit quicker now the first video has been done.
We have one in an automatic 2009 Mini Cooper S that we bought new and has never been driven in anger. It’s done 114k km (70k m). After numerous major coolant and oil leaks, the latest narrowly missing an engine fire by leaking onto hot turbo parts, it’s just had a timing chain. The second. It had already had a timing chain tensioner as part of a recall, but this time BMW France only chipped in about 10%. Second timing chain work also included a new cam shaft and various other things. A €2500 bill. I think engine work on this car put end-to-end now outstrips the car’s current value. It’s one one the least robust engines I’ve heard of. Now they’re older I’d advise to avoid at all costs. Oil consumption is also very high.
Sorry to hear this but I hear non stop problems about this engine and the later 3 cylinder derivatives. It's a real shame. I should know as I had this engine running for my Peugeot 207cc series and just before I was about to take it for an MOT it literally self destructed while sat ticking over outside.
Hello Mark, welcome back. I am on familiar territory with these engines. It will be interesting to find out what has gone wrong with the engine. Its very strange that the piston has hit the spark plug, the usual failure is the timing chain snapping. I am looking forward to the rest of the story. 👍👍👍
Hi Neil. When I was reading my notes back from last year and I said water in No 4 cylinder I'm wondering if it hydro locked possibly. In the last video on this car I manually forced the timing back and got the car running and all was well so it surprised me that it catastrophically failed like it did.
Hello again Mark. You would think if it was a hydro locked it would bend the con rod down away from the cylinder head/spark plug, but that me just thinking in simple terms. I know the jaguar V6 engine has a habit of snapping crankshafts, lets hope that's not the case.
@@neilhampson2843 I’m curious why there would have been coolant in No 4 cylinder Neil at the time? I heard the timing can slip on these as they are friction held crank and that Peugeot didn’t stipulate a high enough torque at manufacture. I understood Ford did the same friction fit on their cranks but it was so tight you needed to use a torque multiplier to undo it and re tighten it so was Peugeot a bit optimistic with a lower crank torque level.
Its above the flywheel by the cams. Remove the big black air induct hose to the right of the engine. Remove the rigid hoses underneath and almost to the side of where the cam is you should see it buried deep. Not easy to find. 6:09 in my video is where you want to be. ruclips.net/video/-fL-R9kShtQ/видео.html&feature=shares&t=369
I think it’s truly ruined beyond economical repair. If I mended it it wouldn’t be as in-depth either. By scrapping it I am free to totally take it all apart for my videos without concern for gaskets and parts that would soon escalate out of control.
What fate awaits the actual body of the car? Are you hoping to source a donor engine. PS. Thanks for taking the time to mention me by name in the end credits mark. I was glad to support the channel your video production quality is really first rate. Have you considered a patron page, or buymeacoffee, something to make supporting the channel easier for people? Really it's a case of just keep producing content and the audience will follow, you definitely deserve more subscribers.
@@norm4242 Hi Stuart, thank you for the compliments. I have got links to Patreon and PayPay donations on the right hand side of the RUclips background photograph. I think I am meant to produce separate content though for Patreon. I plan to strip the body and sell the parts as their is more value in parts than the costs involved in buying engines, getting an MOT etc etc. I could mend it all and possibly loose money in the end when the Cat might get £200 alone. I think the car fully working is only worth around £1,500 and £750 of that would be needed to buy a new engine. Seems a shame to tear it apart but if it helps others mend theirs then it's not all wasted.
@@mecaautodiag2741 Oh I see !!! this car I did some video's on last year but it locked up and then sat in my barn for months and I went onto Mini's. I thought I need to do something productive with it that might be of some benefit to others.
