Oh my goodness! I never thought I’d find a RUclipsr with the same thin hair as ME! Every other RUclipsr with “thin” hair has a shit ton and I don’t really find their situation relatable to me. Thankkk you, Kia!!!

      Yes I understand completely.
I dreamed and that was all I
was doing that I had hair like
I Dream of Jennie. I loved her
hair. My hair is not thick and
when I had a baby it was a girl
and her hair was baby fine when she was little. I kept it
      cut short and she complains
to this day how she looked
like a boy. But Alas she is in
her fortys and she has very
thick hair. She also has a
daughter and her hair is super
thick. I am so glad for them
to have thick hair it is such a
      blessing. Little do they know..

Katerina petrova Hi! No she’s not making fun of her. She’s pointing out the fact that most of the videos on RUclips for “thin hair” feature models who have actually pretty thick hair. And for us girls who have really thin hair that is super frustrating because we are searching for someone with hair like us. She’s saying it’s great that Kia is posting videos! I think so too. She’s beautiful and has really truly helped me to love my hair the way it is. :)

When people look at you, they are so blinded by your beauty that nobody will pay attention to the thickness of your hair ! They only notice how charmingly face framing it is. You are all what a woman can wish to be : beautiful, intelligent, sweet, honest, kind hearted, and so utterly graceful and feminine ! Your hair is delicate and refined like you and suits you to perfection !

I'm a portrait artist (with thin hair) and agree that her hair is gentle and sweet and does match her very well ........ It does NOT look as though she's 'lacking' anything at all ! I DO
notice that as my hair is aging it has more body and is easier to manage now that it's almost
all .....a bright and happy silver grey or perhaps a beige grey ! It used to be a 'non-color' like
dishwater ! eek! BUT I've lost a lot lately because of Covid [5 months ago] ! ~ I'm just SO
glad to have HAIR ~ and am praying frequently about it and being as gentle as possible !

Thank you Kia for your total honesty about thin hair. You are extremely beautiful in every way. I too was just born with thin, fine hair. I actually remember the ONE compliment I ever got on my hair in my 20’s. I am in my mid-40’s now. It’s hard when you get together with friends and they start talking about their hair dresser, giving each other compliments about their gorgeous hair and I just sit there quietly because I would never pay to have my haircut! It takes me all of two minutes to cut my own hair! Thank U for your beauty and confidence in what God gave you! It is very inspirational!

My dear husband said that he would never have thought of your hair as "thin." He said that you were very beautiful! But, you are right... we are our own worst enemies. Our loved ones don't focus on our "faults." I never would have looked at you on youtube and thought you had thin hair. Of course I came to your channel because my hairdresser said my hair is thinning (WTF?), so I did my research and somehow came to your channel. You are beautiful! And your hair is beautiful! No one notices the things you are noticing. :)

My hair is very thin.,and then I got alopecia! Baldish areas. Horror. Couple that with old age and who wants to ever go outside.
My hair never grew very long but then I found out about some health issues that contributed to the hair problem. I have to take thyroid medication and special b12 and iron pills. ( please note that these were prescribed by a doctor not in any way suggesting this unless you have had the appropriate tests ) things might get worse if you try to think bodies are the same )
Astonishingly, my thin hair grew and grew, it is extremely thin with baldish areas but I am able to pin it up and try to cover the balding spots,
As stated in the video I had to change my diet. That is from awful to not so bad, this is a work in progress.
GET CHECKED OUT BY A DOCTOR. MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IF HE KNEW A CURE FOR BALDNESS HE WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORK,BUT HE DID FIND SOME HEALTH ISSUES AND THE TREATMENT FOR THOSE MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO MY LONG BUT STILL VERY THIN HAIR,

Same. I had very thick, or what felt like very thick hair now that It’s so thin, until a few yrs ago. I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid (hypothyroidism). Even now that I take medication for it I can tell when my thyroid is off bc I start losing more hair in the shower and my brush. Part of me felt like it was a relief to have that answer and it’s treatable but then again it’s for life. Good luck.

If you suddenly start losing a lot of hair, you should probably find out what caused it. If it's not stress, then it might have something to do with your hormones or a nutritional deficiency. Get your hormones and nutrients checked to see if they can find anything.

I have long hair for someone with thin hair. I love it sometimes, though when I do get around to getting it cut, it looks so much healthier when it's at most, around collarbone length.
I ended up with thin hair after chemotherapy when I was 17/18 years old. Prior to that, I had such thick hair, it was almost a burden. It was straight too and I couldn't do much with it. I now work in a deli where I have to put my hair up and wear a hair net, where as a few other women need two just to contain their hair.

Im so happy i found your channel, because now I dont feel so alone anymore.. when you describe your feelings I cried because those are also the thoughts that constantly in my head. Things as: im the only one with the thin hair, everyone can see my scalp, if i keep losing more and more hair im just getting bald. Its all so stressfull and i feel so insecure. #teamthin here :D There was a time in my life when i had a car accident, i had a broken spine and i had to lying in bed 6 months(pain killers, antibiotics, anticoagulants injections) You can imagine how my hair looks after all this nightmare. One of the best thing that helps me a lot was hair oiling and colourless henna - Cassia by Khadi(and cut all destroyed parts) I mean the're still thin but they healthy and in good condition. These two things have repaired my hair and made them looking even better than before

Less heat is very true! I used to turn up the heat on my curling iron because my fine hair does not hold styles, I thought the higher temperature would cook the style in more. It really just damaged it, and once it got healthy, it holds styles a little better. Turn the heat down! I never go above about the halfway setting. Dry shampoo is made for us fine hair ladies too. With all the straightening/smoothing lotions on the haircare aisle, that is the one product that I know is made for me!

The depressing news about thin hair is that the older you get, the thinner the hair becomes. At menopause it gets even worse. Washed hair always looks thicker, and curling it (I use basic rollers, never heated ones) is the absolute best way to create volume. It's the best I can do with what I have.

Hi there - count me in as a member of this club! I'm much older and have been dealing with this for a long time but I still like to check out what like-haired people have to say. Kia, all your tips are wonderful and your attitude is simply the best. My hair is just like yours (except gray now) and I gave up trying to make it look thicker and focus on making it look its best. I've been a lot happier since then. Everybody has things they don't like about themselves! Hair happens to be ours. Just accentuate the positive things about yourself and maintain an upbeat attitude. If you carry yourself in a positive confident way, no one will even notice your hair. Thanks for posting this! I'm going to send the link to my daughter who also inherited the same hair. xo

I've had thin hair all of my life...I am much older than you. I most always grew my hair long past my shoulders because what I do at night is to pin curl with bobby pins (the thin ones). It works great! It keeps my hair from breaking (pillow case does this) and it's easy to remove them & comb it out gently in the morning. My mother did this also! So having long hair with curls makes my hair looks like I have more hair! I style my hair in different ways up or down.
    I liked your ideas!👱‍♀️

  • @whitneymartinez3342
    @whitneymartinez3342 5 лет назад +1

I have fine hair, but a bit more of it. However, I agree with all of your tips! I use to hate my hair but once you learn what works for your hair you can begin to love it. And just like anything else, there are advantages to having thin hair. It doesn't take long to blow dry, curl or flat iron.
For my hair I can not condition it. Only light weight leave-ins work well if I use them sparingly. I also need a good clarifying shampoo. Enjoying Acure clarifying shampoo right now.
On the diet front, I take collagen powder daily which I have found is a great way to help strengthen and improve the health of your hair! It will not give you more/thick hair, but I've found that it does help those hairs that normally break to grow. It's great for nails and joints too. A win, win. Great videos. I've been enjoying them.

Thank you. Finally a utuber who actually has got fine thin hair. I'm nearly 50 and have battled with my hair for years. Tryed so many products all claiming to make hair look thicker and give unbelievable volume and was always disappointed. I have dreamed like you of long thick hair but it's never going to happen. So like you I try to make the best of what I have. My fine thin hair is straight so unlike you when it's just hair dryed it looks flat and limp so my routine is shampoo and condition in evening and also use leave in spray conditioner( Palmers leave in spray conditioner doesn't seem to weigh hair down but only few sqirts) and let hair dry. In morning I spray with cold water until damp the put in styling products and always use thermal protection spray. Using osmo range at moment. They do a hair thickening liquid which I think is great and dose make your hair feel and look thicker. Blow dry. Schwarzkopf got2b volumizing powder on roots when dry, gentle backcomb at roots. Bit of hair spray. The only hair dye I use is olia as it's gentle on hair. Colour not as good as some of the stronger but since using it I have found that I have less breakage and fallout.

Lisa Humphreys yes! My hair is so much healthier since I switched to products that are sulfate-free, silicone-free and alcohol-free. I also recommend using soft water if possible. I have a whole-house water-softener, but use gallons of distilled water when traveling. I have also used rain water, lake water and melted snow. If we think about our hair as expensive, beautiful silk, we will treat it with the gentle care it needs.

thin hair I can relate to.

Put it this way. I can put it all up in one Bobbi pin and have
to worry about it falling out.
Now getting bald spots same as my mother had.
You are very pretty and have youth on your side to detract from

Wigs are crazy expensive for a decent one and I find not comfortable.
I too cannot find the right alternatives to harsh shampoos, heat styling products
etc... My hair is dry and fly away and overnight greasy.

Cassia Obvata is great for thickening hair and coloring if you are blonde with some grey. it coats each strand and makes it thicker. If you are blonde to begin with it will add gold highlights. Anyone with any hair color can use Cassia to thicken hair, but it won't lighten dark hair to light.

Thank you for the tips. Totally agree with your comment about “why do Hairdressers do layering on thin hair” they uses to do that to my hair as well. It looked terrible. I seem to have pretty much exactly the same amount of hair as you, and tyhe last few years it has thinned out, due to high level stress and depression. I am on a healing path, but being confisent with thin hair is SO HARD! I have stopped using schampoo, I wash with rhassoul clay or egg, and rinse eith apple cider vinegar. I also just use pure aloe vera gel if I ever need styling my hair. Also using henna to dye it. It makes a huge difference to me cancelling out a whole bunch of harmful chemicals! It doesn’t work for everyone, but it can be worth trying for those whi cannot find good products for their thin hair :)

I am 54, with thin hair my whole life just like yours and I have found that there have been 2 times that my hair was shinier, and healthier. One was when I used Nexxus Diametress, and Humectruss together, dried my hair upside down, then when I slept I put my hair above my head without laying on it also I used a wide tooth comb to comb it when wet. And in most recent years I have been using the no poo method, only I add a little witch hazel to the baking soda shampoo, and a little witch hazel to the vinegar conditioner with a few drops of pure rosemary oil to a bottle, then drip dry. This over time has made my hair stronger than ever before, and healthier and shiny. I had hard water when I used this, but tried a few things since moving where I have soft water, but am going back to the no poo because my hair has started thinning more. For the best results on this method, I would say to adjust the amounts of these ingredients to suite your hair.

Love your personality, you are lovely to watch and listen to. I would recommend from personal experience, that a small amount of mousse into the crown of your hair after it has been dried (use a t-shirt not a towel!) partially, and then flipped upside down to blow dry works well for volume. Do not use towels to friction dry your fine hair. Air dry is best if you can afford the time, I agree with you there. Also, adding a protective heat spray is important, and when I feel my hair looks too flat, I will add some curls as they give dimension, and a false sense of thickness. Thanks for helping so many ladies out there feeling blue about thin hair they cannot change! We can change our attitude and support each other by sharing tips and hacks :)

I've always had curly fine hair but I had a fair amount of it until I discovered straighteners and dye (At the age of 14, oh how I wish I could turn back time!) About 6 months ago I decided to stop straightening my hair unless it was a special occasion and therefore tied it up a lot (like, at least 10 hours of the day) because I wasn't a fan of the curls - and this meant that I was actually pulling my fine hair out behind my ears! Now I wear it loose or clipped back loosely and low down. Oh, and I also have a alopecia spot at the back of my head probably down to stress but thankfully it is easy to hide. Be kind to your fine hair and embrace the curls I agree! Also, try not to stress :)

Lovely video. Thank you so much! My hair is so thin ... think SPIDER WEB thin! I already air dry it ... or sometimes I'll mix the hairdryer with air drying. Following your recommendations, I will now defo try using the hairdryer with head upside down ... and using less heat. Tbh I went to a hairdresser the other week and had it layered and slightly trimmed (it is long, nearly down to my butt) and it seemed to work quite nicely for me. (I have to try to create some volume cos I do a style of partner dance where long flowing hair is supposed to ... well, flow ... and we have to be able to fling it around as we spin etc). I'm 100% with you on using minimal amounts of product - my thin hair gets weighed down so easily! My biggest challenge is letting it down whilst also keeping it out of my face while dancing. Constantly experimenting with different gadgets and gimmicks to achieve this ... with limited success... Thin hair stuck to a sweaty face is the last thing in the world that you want as a dancer! :)

Tip # 11: Only apply conditioner to the ends of your hair. Conditioner applied all over weighs down your hair and adds to the oils on your head. I know it sounds scary, but I promise it won't leave your hair hard to derange or style.

    • @heathermccuin9555

brandi mccormick since I switched to silicone-free conditioners, I am able to use conditioner on my entire head without it going flat. I also add rosemary and tea tree essential oils to my silicone free conditioner and give myself a mini-scalp massage every time I wash my hair. Rosemary oil has been clinically proven to stimulate hair growth as well as minoxidil, and tea tree oil controls sebum production and yeast overgrowth to keep follicles healthy.

I also have thin, fine hair! My hair is naturally curly and very long. I have layers because it helps keep the weight down and allows my curls to spring up and look good, but it means my ends are very wispy. I have found that less is best when it comes to thin hair; less product!!! I shampoo and condition my hair twice a week. I keep it braided and pulled back most of the time. I never use hair spray or moose.

I'm nearly 70 and always struggled with thin hair. I've had really good luck keeping it long. It's so fine, if it rubs on my shoulders it rubs away , so I keep it up in a braid most of the time. I've had great luck with sponge rollers on the very top of my head so my ends are curled I sleep with a wet head. Sometimes put a towel on my pillow. Mostly it's basically dry except the curlers when I go to bed. I use a gentle shampoo, no heat appliances, a bit of scalp conditioner after my shower, a bit of argan oil on the ends of my hair. Once I stopped dying it , it got so much more healthy. I love having thin hair
