I've always had a hard time making a fursona for myself. There's so many species to choose from, and while I grew up, I changed and ended up discarding tons of them. I've tried foxes, cats, sharks, closed species, even! Funnily enough, my first fursona was a grey wolf. I was 11 or 12 and new to the fandom, I just wanted to explore things. Now that I'm in my 20's, I've been hammered with these critiques and jokes about wolves, foxes and dogs being too common and too basic. Watching your videos has made me connect to the fandom again and want to try designing a fursona for myself, one I can really connect with. And, this time, I'm not really afraid to go with the basic if that's what feels right for me :) I can be a dog or dog hybrid with no shame, after all, being a furry is about expressing oneself! Thanks for your videos, Finn 💜 they've changed my view on furries, the fandom and myself a lot, and I appreciate that :)
Dog/wolf furries tend to get a lot of hate, which is sad. Who cares if they're common? The mist important thing is that you enjoy your own character. Your fursona is for your own enjoyment, not others. If you want your sona to be a dog, go for it!

i had mentioned in another video, but my fursona is a wolf. i like wolves because i don't see the sterotypical brawn and dashing side of wolves portrayed in most media, i like the side of them that is loyal and caring as they are more family bound which leads to them being very protective and savage if they need to be, but they can also be very self kept and secluded to themselves but in all i chose to have a wolf fursona because of those reasons and not because they are the go too starter set for new furries though i have been one for over 3 years now
Someday in the future after seeing a therapist, I'm gonna revisit your videos to see which animal matches with my personality... but I gotta discover myself first♡
I believe what makes dog fursona special is rare and interesting breeds. My fursona/suit is an English setter and I literally never saw a fursuit of this breed, and only several characters

My fursona is a Rottsky(Rottweiler-Husky mix), I think it’s true that there’s a lot of dog sonas because of the connections humans have with them. I think that’s the reason I have one. Great video!

I'll be the first to admit my sona is extremely "generic" (dark gray wolf) - he matches my relaxed/low-energy personality and I'm perfectly okay with that. Although I do have a TON of sheet music symbols on him to reference that.

I think that it will be very nerdish, but... furries could think not only about species, but also subspecies. I have never seen for example, a Bernard's wolf, or Kenai Peninsula wolf. It is sad, I think that people think only about northwestern wolf
You know that there is more that one species of wolf? Right? No need for hybridization when there is different types of wolf out there with some what unique characteristics. Albeit, if you wanna hybridize, go ahead.
