- On an early February trip to the river, I saw Kody fishing alone, a friend of my fishing pal Jacob Bohrer. I knew Kody was a great steelheader so I decided to put my usual loner tactics aside and asked it he wanted to fish. I'm sure glad I did, because before too long we were having a great time and landing a couple awesome fish.

That was hilarious how that fish ran up into the shallows! I love it when they go nuts like that.!
The fish were wild that day! That one I hooked just wouldn’t give up! She ran over through those willows and was 20 feet upriver when Kody reached down and freed my line. I wonder what that might have looked like if I was solo!
Great video! True to life. No need to edit out the mistakes. It is as real as it gets. Thanks for another enjoyable video.
Thanks Mike! Yep, I’m far from perfect. 😁
You guys found some fish in a familiar area. Very nice! I saw a guy on RUclips fly fishing that area last week, he hooked 2 or 3. You touched on the dacron connection between spoon and hook, I ran into a guy on the OP years ago using that method with success. I rigged a bunch of spoons that way, and they worked. I can't recall why i drifted away from doing it that way. The fish seem to stay hooked very well even when they twist and roll. I'm glad you pushed that back into my foggy brain, I'm going to rig more spoons like that again. Thanks, and thanks for another great video!
I will revisit the Dacron connection when things settle down a bit. You’d think once I was retired I would have all the time in the world. But when I’m not fishing, I’m editing and everything outside of that is honey do’s. 😊
"There we go" A great day of steelhead fishing and the start for your new series Netting Bloopers. Thanks Barry.
There we go! 😁 I get a kick out of what the young guys say. The netting bloopers were partially due to my right arm having zero strength at the time, but still funny,
We can all laugh. All's well that ends well.@@RAGEFISHING
I was fishing above you guys at 11:00 in the video. I hooked two natives on a little inside slot below the main hole.
Nice! I almost came up there and chatted with you to see how you were doing.
Good one! Thanks for sharing as always!
Thanks Steve! We were a little more polished on our second fishing trip. 😁 I had only met Kody once before this. He and Spencer stopped and chatted with me for a few minutes on New Years Day while I was fishing. I need to get Spencer on here next, he’s a character too! 😁
@@RAGEFISHING Very much enjoyed the episode!
Iam battling tennis elbow sucks but still fishing
It’s horrible! Especially for a fisherman. I got a steroid shot Monday which seems to be helping. Fingers crossed!
Fun watching you guys. Without knowing what it takes, it would be nice to see where the float is. Is there a way to show where it lands when you cast …because I think I could follow it then.
It depends on what resolution you’re watching it at. When I’m editing, it’s clear as day. On some devices there is an option to watch at better resolution; iPhones and iPads try to save battery life by showing at lower resolution.
@@RAGEFISHING Thank you for your reply. I am watching on an IPad. Will see what I can do.
@timschwarze4842 hit the little gear icon in the upper right, it will probably show something similar to ‘watch in higher definition’.
i lost one the other day cuz i got snagged and tightened my drag to unsnag and didnt loosen it back up fish broke me off almost instantly and started jumping everywhere with my bead setup in his mouth i felt pretty bad it was a huge male too
That happened to me on my first steelhead, I never did that again and I bet you won’t either! Steelhead like to teach us hard lessons. 😬
Now when I’m snagged I just hold my spool and pull directly away from the snag. Once it breaks off or comes loose, I pull a few wraps of line out of my reel so it doesn’t stick there on the next cast from getting buried. And I’m guessing you know, but I’ll say it anyway; don’t use your rod for leverage with a snag, they will break. One of my buddies learned that the hard way.
Thanks for the comment, it’s a good reminder for all of us. 🎣
Lol, that net job was hard to watch
It wasn’t my best work. 😁
@@RAGEFISHING it happens. Just happy you netted it
