"So, we've decided that to really make the stakes clear for Halo Infinite, we'll have the Infinity get destroyed" "That's bold! How will you show that?" "Show?"
Par for the course with Halo. A lot of events happen that you never see, yet become major plot points or story catalysts. Or they've been fragmented off into different media and you're supposed to have read/watched it beforehand. Hell they kill Cortana offscreen. What a damp squib of a climax to her fate. Not a great way to tell a coherent story.
@@colecoal1365 Clearly not a mortal wound, given that the shields for the vehicle bay MC is in are still up even when he gets tossed overboard, which means the reactor is still going.
So was the Infinity destroyed or just critically damaged?? Gonna be honest, I grew attached to that ship. If it is destroyed I wonder if it will be replaced by the UNSC Eternity
Critical plot points being delivered through audio usually means DEVELOPMENT HELL. Ask Kojima and he will tell you, 70% of MGSV was told through tapes, and we all know how bad things were between the team and Konami. Poor 343 employees...
It's more like they now can remove or make a character relevant again at any time. Can easily just write off they died without investing actual gameplay into sequels.
It’s like watching every Startrek movie ever! The audio logs are not good. Nothing interesting really happens at all. Compare this with a few other Shit-Hits-the-Fan moments like the end of books Fall of Reach/Beginning of First Strike
The infinity was so massive that it couldn't have just blown up bc the parts of it would be all over the ring and block the sun from orbit. Im really hoping in a future xpac for the campaign we see it shattered on the ring and get a full cool cutscene of what happened. I never like how OP the ship was but you can destroy the infinity off screen.
well the way that the banished destroyed the Infinity was by ramming 4 of their own dreadnought class warships into it. It is a brutal and simple method, however it was best option that was open to them. Reminds me of the fireships, but relying on boarding parties to get the job done
Closest analogy I can think of is the backstory to Breath of the Wild, where you (Chief/Link) wake up sometime after a major event/defeat (Fall of UNSC Infinity/Hyrule) as you travel around the open world looking for clues and piece together what happened. At least for Chief he was knocked out for 6 months. Don't suppose his suit could have kept him alive for 100 years.
@@ChenAnPin Looking for clues gave me massive ODST vibes so I really liked it. I just really hope in future we see it crashed into the ring like the concept art shows or we get a cinematic of its last moments.
@@kriegerlander8054 and it makes absolutely zero sense. How do you stage a surprise attack when your only method of arrival is to let everyone know exactly where you are coming in at? And how does the crew full of hundreds of Spartans and thousands of veteran marines and odst's fall in under 4 minutes?
Guarantee the infinity isn’t gone, more like captured or limped off, too much possibility to throw it away. Also if you don’t see it die it’s isn’t dead
Atriox should have heeded that rule. What was he thinking? Throw this guy with a vacuum sealed suit into space surrounded by potentially friendly birds or at the very least vehicles he could board and take. Real good plan Atriox
@@11jerans Yeah gotta agree with you there. Atriox should have known better than to think simply chucking Chief out into space was going to kill him. All I'm saying is Atriox, you've only got yourself to blame when Chief comes to put a cap in your ass.
I want to assume it was one of the ones that made it out right before the one that got smoked. Unless 343 want to kill of one of their best original characters
They didn't use the tactics that The shipmaster form Halo 3 used *"Shipmaster they out number us 3 to 1"* *"Then its an even fight"* Still the most iconic dialogue
Does anyone else realize that the logs say the day was December 12...which is today. You didn't happen to plan this did you, because that is impeccable timing.
Strangely enough the banished didn't scavenged the forerunner artifact or engine that the UNSC infinity are using and the covenant based tech luminary.
@@vindictivegrind9370 well that’s not really their objective it was more of the covenants thing the only thing that they want from the fire runners or the ring is sorry SPOILERS. Probably means the Infinity limped to safety and landed somewhere on the ring to recuperate. The game starts with the Banished scavenging metal and supplies so they'd have stripped the Infinity clean if it really did get destroyed.

@@juangallego7197 it’s so weird, this with out question felt like the most empty story of all the games. Maybe since it feels like everything was a hard reset. I am not saying it’s a bad story, maybe my mistake was expecting this to be the end of John 117 story. Once again weird to have something so monumental like Infinity dying not to show it on screen. Same with what happened to Cortana.
I wouldn't mind the Arbiter and his forces riding in with Shadow of Intent in the next campaign, the way Infinity rode in to help Arbiter with the Covenant Remnant on Sanghelios.
4, unfortunately. UNSC detected 1 banished ship and was a little busy dealing with it (Likely the ramming ship in the cutscene), in the chaos the other 3 (Escharem says as much, if I recall correctly) went undetected or unanswered.
I have hope that the UNSC infinity and some UNSC ships will be rebuilt and upgraded on that halo ring they are on in Infinite. I remember Weapon saying those pillar things provide forerunner materials which is used to build stuff. Maybe they can repurpose them for the ships after they beat the banished
Something tells me this was all supposed to be in the game but due to time....they had to do this. I really hope that add more campaign to the game and more.
I’m sure there will be some great content coming. Laskey and Halsey are likely on the ring somewhere and now there is a whole new threat to go with Atriox.
Ye I think so too all the other audio logs don’t really match the style of the infinity ones and i could see this perfectly fitting into gameplay but they prolly did have to cut it. apparently tho we only actually got like 2/3 of the content that they actually planned for the game so this could be apart of that. tho this is still an amazing game, kinda reminds me of the development for halo2 apparently the same sort of thing happened with that game where bungie had to cut out content due to time restraints and sort of just poor planning but all of halo3 was originally planned to be apart of halo2 well at least a huge chunk of it I think and a lot more as well but overall they just sort of set their sights to big. a quote that I would use for this is that they set for the stars but settled for the moon because what we got from it was still great and I believe that was probably exactly what happened to 343 with halo infinite as well.
@@Jpilgrim30 but yes the extra content they will be adding to this game over the years will be amazing and will probably tie in a lot of the stuff that they had to originally cut out I can’t wait to see what’s next for this game.
Honestly surprising the Infinity held out for so long, it was a year of constant running from the Created, minimal chance to resupply on munitions and having to build an entirely separate training facility off the grid for the next generation of Spartan IV’s. Infinity was already lacking in the Spartan department having left half of the Spartan company and many UNSC forces on Reach. Coupled with the fact that the Banished attack like headless chickens with battering rams with the element of surprise as the Infinity had its guard down in order to capture Cortana, you have a recipe for disaster.
@@asomewhatdecentperson9190 How do you get caught with your guard down, in space, when you still have passive sensors up and running even if you're running in quiet or silent modes? The answer is simple: plot. Everything in this damnable excuse for a Halo game is a plot contrivance and a lot of it is just straight up nostalgia bait for CE days. Furthermore, half the guns don't even look like they belong in Halo. For example, the Commando is straight up a copy of the R-201 from Titanfall 2, the MK 50 Sidekick is a SIG or a Five-Seven and the Bulldog is a S&W M&P 12. Whereas even 4 and 5 maintained the same style as the previous games. But I guess this is what Halo fans deserve after all these years.
@@DoctorLifeMD bruh you did not just compare the bulldog to the gun industries most embarrassing shotgun. Ridiculed for being a shoddy copy of KSG/TS12, and already has a recall lmao
If the Banished are using commandeered covenant equipment and ships, how were they able to beat the Infinity? The Infinity plowed through a Covenant ship in Halo 4.
@@jacobvalerio5290 it took four minutes to take the Infinity down yet the Spirit of Fire held out for days against the Banished and may still be fighting the Banished on the Ark.

I think it would be a really cool idea for 343i to make an ODST campaign for Halo Infinite. The game will take place right after the Infinity has been compromised.
The Covenant at the height of their power was fighting a 2 front war, the UNSC and the Banished. The Covenant were pushing us back. The Covenant was being pushed back by the Banished. Its makes sense that the Banished would Curnstomp the UNSC so easily. The Spirit of Fire is the only Exception.
@@theallies2007 Lol, it make no sense at all. Spirit of Fire itself and it's forces are literally 25 years old relics by the time they met Banished, yet they somehow fight Banished on par, while modern UNSC is getting Curbstomped? Is purely senseless.
Seems the biggest question now is , Is Captain Lasky, KIA or MIA or Still Fighting. Still fighting I hope, if he is KIA it would be nice if the Spartans listed him as MIA for all he has done for them and the Chief.
He is not dead, for sure. No logs or files and evidences show that he is dead...his fate is still unknown though. Maybe crash landed on the ring and hiding somewhere or coordinating a mini resistance with the survivors against the banished. Let us see in the future DLCs
I have a funny feeling we will find out the fates of Lasky, Palmer, blue team, Locke and many more in a campaign DLC, or maybe something like a Spartan ops set up DLC, 343 could stretch it out for a long while with story DLC similar to Destiny but better
I'm still hopeful that the Infinity is out there. Heavily damaged though, of course, and limping around. If the Banished and Escharum didn't realise Atriox was still out there, I feel like the Infinity could be too. I don't think they'd kill Lasky off screen.
@@someguy1365 not really, we've seen ships saving the day many times in halo history after ground support helps them. The Storm and The Ark in 3, tip of the spear in reach. Every halo game has had a hero ship, it just feels like the Infinity has been dead weight this entire time
@@demonbot6617 I think it's all about perspective. Infinity was one of the few UNSC ships that survived The Created Era. I think it's more of a longform version of what you described; without Infinity, Halsey wouldn't have had the time to create a Cortana Countermeasure. Infinity was also very, very good at hiding from Cortana during her reign.
Still kind of weird how we see zero evidence of the infinity at all I mean there’s no way a ship of that size wouldn’t leave a shit ton of debris all over in orbit and on the rings surface, small chance she’s still around maybe?
Infinity is probably like the Forward unto Dawn by now given how intense the fighting was and all the audio logs suggesting the ship was beyond salvage Perhaps the banished took the wreck to somewhere else
@@magicalmagicmagician5223 idk man with the amount of frigates still on the rings surface plus the downed guardian that doesn’t make sense there should be some remnant of her somewhere plus in the cutscene it says not found it would pull up her transceiver form somewhere if she was still in system
It only took a day before everything went down so fast, and I guess The Infinity deployed thier Frigates but got destroyed all at once when in my theory on patrol of Zeta or maybe they got destroyed when they were assigned as back up or a rear guard.
This is like having your one strongest Pokemon that you've been using to beat the game with half health remaining and running into an opponent with a full team
Weird how an obsolete and ancietn unsc spirit of fire can hold its own against the banished but somehow the flagship unsc infinity and its escorts get wrecked. sounds legit haha
It’s kinda funny and sad that these soldiers were struggling to survive on the rings surface and then we have Chief just going guns blazing throughout most of the banished bases and even killing Jega and Escharum. Also how did Atriox know about the Weapon? It’s obvious he took her and used her to trap Cortana and that’s when Cortana did something and blew up part of the ring
He didn’t take and use the weapon. The weapon was already there to lock down Cortana. It looks like Cortana was just unlucky enough to be in Atriox’s path after being locked down.
I loved the game I just hate how much content was offscreen and how chief wasnt the tip of the spear like he usually is :( I still loved the game tho ( woulda loved to see the amount of chaos there was when they all landed on the ring)
The captain made a blind jump after evacuating the crew and is in Cryo storage with the Shipboard A.I. watching over him until help arrives. That comes 5 years later when the UNSC Forever shows up with Spartan 5's. Also the Forever is 20 kilometers long and can launch three Infinities from its underside and has MAC guns so Big that they shoot out frigates, But then the the Shipboard A.I. goes crazy and makes a plan to conquer the galaxy with the help of the Left Behind that are older and meaner than anybody and it's up to Mecha Master Chief to stop them.
All of the key story beats of this game happen off screen. The whole conflict set up by the previous game is resolved off screen. The infinity is lost off screen. Everything to do with Cortana happens off screen. The Harbinger was woken up off screen. The Harbinger does all their work off screen. It's like all game long you are trailing the actual story, arriving in places the story has already moved on from.
Gives them a way to explore it with different outlets I guess, like the books and dlc’s. Besides I’m kind of glad they dropped the whole Created conflict, just didn’t really fit in the story.
you know there's more mo-cap footage of the other Spartans we didn't see yet, we'll most likely be playing as them in some story DLC (Spoiler Warning) ruclips.net/video/q4wIV8zXNyc/видео.html
this makes me angry. i love the infinity, seeing her get pulled apart like that, and with such ease too, is heartbreaking. she was the strongest fucking ship ive ever seen - until she wasnt, apparently. i had really hoped she might have set down to make repairs and had since been defending herself with her thousands of ground troops or something. it looks like she didnt even get a chance to launch her frigates from the hangar bays.
unfortunate that the there isn't any UNSC mission. It will be a great nostalgic like what happen to Pillar of Autumn from Halo 1.... perhaps.. a DLC maybe?
I sort of feel like this was kind of like cut content because of time restraints that they just turned this into audio logs it would have been so cool to play this and then it would have been even more like ce starting on the infinity and then being thrown off would’ve been so dope but I really enjoyed the way the game came out even without this but would’ve been awesome to see 343s plan for this game fully realised
He did pretty well all things considered. He even scored a few good hits on him, shrugged off his opening strike, and tried to return to the fight with the cable.
@@jackolantern147 Chief got destroyed by atriox, the first hit that sent him flying had him holding his gut after he got and it just got worse from there, those 3-4 punch Chief threw did absolutely nothing
Seriously how did the Banished take Infinity down? It's shields had to have been active they're forrunner tech and the ship had a litteny of assistant craft to use..at least it should have been a prolonged fight if not just for fanservice. They hyped it up so much and then we don't even get a proper space battle....pissed me off so much foreshadowing by 342 about this ship for nothing...😤
Pretty sure the Banished got the drop on them. Infact Lasky didn’t even know it was the Banished until they had already breached the Infinity multiple times. My theory: they were assuming they were alone in this space and didn’t have their shields up. So when the Banished rammed into the ship, it did critical damage and caught the UNSC completely off guard
I mostly agree, however there is a fair point to be made (though it certainly should have been made clear in the actual game) that the infinity had likely been low on ammo, supplies and support craft on account of the fact that it's been active without re-supply for a year. In that time they've run many missions, often losing assets (like during the return to Reach). It makes lore sense (even if I don't like it).
It's because they wrote her off as unnecessary for the plot. And what becomes unnecessary to the plot but had immense significance prior gets destroyed in the dumbest ways imaginable. It's a fact. But if the fight were realistic, the Infinity should have seen incoming ships from all sides, even if they were in slipspace. She could have maneuvered out of the way, did a whole bunch of things. Sensors are always active aboard a vessel and even if they're in passive mode, they can still detect incoming masses. Besides, the Infinity had a lot of reverse engineered Covenant and Forerunner tech, so that's all the more reason that the 'sudden' attack against her makes no sense. Either that, or they really wanted to bait people in with that CE nostalgia vibes by blowing up the hero ship right off the bat, similarly to what happened to the Pillar of Autumn. Except in the Autumn's case it actually made a lot of sense.
@@duxater2331 thx man that helps make sense of this nonsense, but I'm still like why wouldn't the sensors work peri-slip-jump and why deactivate the shields like ever I mean they knew Cortana was there armed and ready...🤔
I heard infinity was destroyed before playing and I'm here like how in the hell did they do such a task...…..then I played it and saw the giant battering rams that are called ships...hmmmm yeah that will do it , after all that's my strategy in space engineers.
No it wouldn't do it. See Halo 4 Spartan Ops. Or the books. The UNSC Infinity could have patrolled the entire ring. Melee range in fucking space is stupid and unlikely. That's like basing your military strategy on shooting the enemy bullets out of the air.
Sounds like infinity was captured. Maybe in the next game it will be under the control of the banished and there will be a mission to recapture the infinity. Or the infinity sister ship the eternity will be introduced and have to destroy the infinity. Just saying if atriox just wanted to destroy it there was no need for him to board. His fleet looked like it wasn't having any trouble over powering it.
So... they evacuate "The Weapon A.I." as a means to avoid the data she holds; falling into enemies hands. Meanwhile, Roland is just sitting in the command table. xD
To be fair, the infinity had to deal with four ships launching a quick surprise attack. The Spirit of Fire only had to contend with one, and had more time to prepare for the Banished.
From everything we know so far, it's fairly likely that her sister ship, the UNSC Eternity will be a touch weaker than the Infinity. Infinity has the best gear, modules and personnel UNSC has to offer. It's literally the best of the UNSC, Eternity is likely no pushover regardless but if Infinity can't survive this, Eternity won't either.

well the way that the banished destroyed the Infinity was by ramming 4 of their own dreadnought class warships into it.

Infinity was already lacking in the Spartan department having left half of the Spartan company and many UNSC forces on Reach. @@asomewhatdecentperson9190 How do you get caught with your guard down, in space, when you still have passive sensors up and running even if you're running in quiet or silent modes?

Maybe Cortana or someone sent the infinity back in time/forward…………
yea Infinity just went boom
Sounds like infinity was captured. Maybe in the next game it will be under the control of the banished and there will be a mission to recapture the infinity. Or the infinity sister ship the eternity will be introduced and have to destroy the infinity. Just saying if atriox just wanted to destroy it there was no need for him to board. His fleet looked like it wasn't having any trouble over powering it.
What happened to Roland "the ships AI". Was he put out of commission?
If your making new Movies with the Audio Logs...
Can you do one for the Forerunner + Endless / Harbinger story stuff?
So... they evacuate "The Weapon A.I." as a means to avoid the data she holds; falling into enemies hands.
Meanwhile, Roland is just sitting in the command table. xD
So.... How could the ragtag banish that couldn't defeat the Spirit, defeat an advanced UNSC flotilla?
A lot can change after 3 years of fighting a bunch of genocidal AI.
@@matthewpaine6908 so.... Why not show or tell us that
@@fieldmarshalbaltimore1329 They are saving it for the dlc. $$$$
A 30 years old ship give more fight against the banished than the infinity
oof
To be fair, the infinity had to deal with four ships launching a quick surprise attack. The Spirit of Fire only had to contend with one, and had more time to prepare for the Banished.
Infinity got a sister ship don't worry
From everything we know so far, it's fairly likely that her sister ship, the UNSC Eternity will be a touch weaker than the Infinity.
Infinity has the best gear, modules and personnel UNSC has to offer. It's literally the best of the UNSC, Eternity is likely no pushover regardless but if Infinity can't survive this, Eternity won't either.
nice
Ok ok ok, but what about the Arbiter? Where is the Arbiter? When are we getting the Arbiter focused game the fans demand?
I bet he’s dead. His home world was possibly destroyed like the brutes…..
@@empirednw6624 I don’t think so I’m pretty sure the only reason Cortana destroyed the brutes home planet was to get at atriox
This is Windfall 4. M626 reporting....
After hearing the audio logs, it's sad that we already know some sparten's fate.
Kovan is officially my spirit animal lol
what I don't understand is if the infinity has an emergency slip space. why did they not activate it.
Because the Banished showed up out of nowhere and caught them off guard. Don't forget that all of this happened within the span of five minutes.
Maybe they did, after the ring got transported.
Remember that 343 did say halo infinite campaign will be updated somehow daily for the 10 years of halo infinite so just calm down and wait for dlcs
Yeah Bungie said something similar with Destiny
I'm sorry but, what's the "dlcs"?
@@RJC_333 halo infinite is going to be the last halo game for 10 years until the next halo game so they might put dlcs later on like addition to the main story of halo infinite like a dlc of captain lasky or dlc of the banished
My question is when are they gonna tie in Spartan Thorne,Red Team,Jun, Osiris team,Blue Team and above all The Arbiter...oh and the God himself Chips Dubbo.
R.I.P
UNSC Infinity
And UNSC Eternity is the only Infinity-class ship Left. I hope she's completed and commissioned as Infinity's Replacement.
