She also voiced the pilot in the escape pod when chief first lands on the ring in CE. There were two Jen Taylor lines back to back and its basically impossible to notice. Absolutely incredible.
I got that too. Feels like they realised that halo is about chief and cortona fighting together and that this is a new start for them. Cortona saying "the whole point of this is that we were supposed to be a team" and "this isn't the end, it's a chance to rectify mistakes". Really love this halo and I feel that we're getting our game back. Love what 343 did with this and also can I just say wow to the soundtrack. The most beautiful soundtrack out of all the halos imo
@Calo Nord Based take, red pilled even. I’d say 5’s story fucked everything to the point where there wasn’t really a good choice, just the best of bad choices. An example of a similar situation being the creation of episode 9 of Star Wars after episode 8, episode 8 sucked so fucking hard, there was no possible way 9 would be good. I’d say the games story is good, but it could never be perfect after 5.
I like how in the end, she died as Cortana, not the tyrannical ruler of the Created. Notice how she's even discarded that more militaristic look of hers for her original appearance in the end. She was Cortana again, even if only for a moment.
@@csab8642 It's heartbreaking to think about, we'll never have their wonderful dynamic again, nor her witty banter over Chief's comms. I think I'll always miss it.
@@generaljeanmoreau6853 Because in every life there is a moment you feel like to take stop for a second and make a sense on what you've done so far. She understood even though she wanted good, she did bad - and that's the lesson to follow for John and the Weapon.
@@alexcooper7263 hmm i dont buy that. its weak storytelling to suddenly change. her not being a space h1tler and actually dying was better off than reviving her or whatever the rampancy that what was left of her kinda ruined cortana
It’s so surreal to think that this is the end for Cortana, hits the feels hard. And the last words about choosing well, they make you remember the whole journey they went through together, damn...
@@Daniel-ll2cl but it will never be the same Cortana again. She doesn't share the same experiences or attachments to Chief the original did. The dynamic will never be the same.
@@csab8642 exactly you can have a clone of somebody you once knew and love and they may look the same in every aspect but they aren't the same person you shared some many experiences with.
I mean, is it the end tho? I know she's an AI but the general rule in fiction is no body = no death. We don't even really see the blast that killed her. As far as we know right now, a form of her could've very well survived since "something" was trying to help the Weapon during the fight against Harbinger + the random portal popping out of nowhere + Atriox survived so what stops her from surviving in some capacity as well? AND time travel just got introduced. I simply refuse to accept this is the very last time we see the OG waifu. Chief never got to say anything to her since Halo 5.
You know Chief is getting massive psychological issues from the message she left him. She was the only true constant he'd had for a majority of his life.
Unfortunately they really didn’t spend much actual time together. Chief is 49, halo CE Started mid/end of September 2552 and lasted 3 or so days. We lose cortana in halo 2 somewhere between oct-nov 2552. Halo 3 takes place from nov 2552-march 2553, and we don’t even have cortana until halfway through the game. Then 4 years of cryo sleep where Cortana was by herself. Halo 4 is only 4 days then we lose her for good. So I don’t think they even spent a year total together, of chiefs 49 years.
@@FormerGovernmentHuman But she was the emotional anchor he needed. Outside of Halsey and the other Spartan-2s, she was the only being that actually gave a damn about him.
It is crazy to think how impactful Halsey's work was on John's life. His augmentations, his suit and her guardian angel. Halsey and Cortana will always be watching over him.
Its crazy to think how impactful Halsey’s work as a scientist was in general. Although she side stepped ethics on multiple occasions. Her actions ensured humanity’s survival for real. As a scientist myself her character is a role model.
@@ahmedmaniyaruni4300 The thought of an actual scientist saying Halsey is a role model is both the most wholesome and absolutely blood sweatingly terrifying thing I have ever heard.
@@trollzynisaacjohan1793 I never accept the necessary evil belief. That is the same as saying the bad guy leader from Germany in World War II was a necessary evil as several mothers have had their lives saved from the result of the torture they did on people (medical knowledge). There is no such thing as a necessary evil. In actuality, that statement in and of itself leads to a trolley problem. "Would I accept millions of deaths in the past to save the life of someone I love in the present?"
In the end Cortana protected Chief, by giving him a chance with the weapon, sacrificing herself… to give Chief time and saving the weapon from deletion as I’m sure Halsey predicted
With that music and atmosphere.....it was hard to insert that chip. I lost my dad in late October. I showed him Halo 2 when it first came out. He absolutely loved it.We were waiting for infinite to release......but he passed away from a septic infection in his blood that caused lung and kidney failure. It was more like bringing my dad with me.. Not the weapon
I understand how you feel. Halo was one of the first games I played when my brother and me got an Xbox. Hadn't played it since the third, but I always tried to keep up with the story.
@@chantawatchantarapanya8479 More specifically a Spartan II which are the least like normal humans as well. This game made me cry. This means so much to me to have a halo game again. I hate what they did with 5 but I think this game fixes it the best way possible with what they had messed up. You can tell how traumatized chief is from losing Cortana and how he is slowly regaining his humanity. And I like how In her final moments, the crazy insane Cortana did what she could to make it right. I like how her remaining scattered echoes of data were just whispers and messages to John of what the good part of her, the REAL her, wanted to tell him. She died in 4, The halo 5 Cortana wasn’t her but the part of her that remained shined through the evil. The weapon will not replace Cortana, and she will always be with us in a way. :)
Maybe I’m just in denial but I would have liked if weapon still had Cortana’s memories from when she was copied. That way she’s still a new ai and all but she’s not in the dark about the events of the previous 5 games
This is the first any sort of piece of media that made me nearly tear up No other movies No other shows No other games Not even any other Halo media Just this game. Halo Infinite.
Cortana and Chief were partners. They'd do anything to win, and when one turned bad, the other refused to accept it. Chief and Weapon are like a father and child. He keeps her from taking unnecessary risks, and if one were to turn bad, who knows what would happen.
Agree with you 200000000% brother perfect halo game for halo fans makes up for halo 5 completely I’m almost glad that 5 was so shit now cause we got this game from that completely worth IMO.
I really don't understand how people can take that opinion... This story just took a shit on every Halo story so far that involves Chief and Cortana in any way
Halsey: Did whatever it took to make Spartan II's Halsey: Makes AI that's exactly herself AI: Cheats Halsey playing Chess Halsey: Makes AI that's LESS like herself
Rest In Peace Christiane Louise. Your contributions as the Brazilian dubbed version of Cortana as well as Mercy from Overwatch will always be remembered!
Has anyone else made the connection between Cortana's monologue and the Gravemind? Like "There will be no more anger, no more sadness, no more envy" has thrown up serious red flags for me
Exactly! I've also been looking around all over. No one seems to talk about her saying things like "Save me from myself" and stuff like that. There must be some deeper connection as to why she finally turned it all around.
What Infinite is saying is that Cortana got progressively worse mentally after the Gravemind tortured her in Halo 2 and 3. She lost her mind after a mix of years of war, rampancy, the Flood's torture and then being corrupted by the Domain.
It's an exquisite character development. Cortana from beginning to the end acted like a woman. Yet Weapon acts like a girl, young girl. Maybe that's because Cortana was at service for some time before pairing with Chief. Or any other reason. But the interaction between Cortana and John always felt like they are... A couple. An unsettling, doomed couple, with no future. A brainwashed killing machine mutant with almost no social skills and AI with no physical body, with a design flaw and a short lifespan. None of them has been created to be happy and yet they've managed to find happiness in each other, despite all their flaws, despite even being part of a terrifying war. Yet with Weapon... It's more like a man and a girl. And Johns mission was to look after Weapon so she wouldn't get in trouble. John is more like a father here. But this sad ending yet feels somewhat settling. Weapon won't replace Cortana even if she will pick her name, not for Chief at least. He and Cortana had a long journey alongside each other, and this journey has left a huge print in both of them. This print still remains in John but there is nothing in Weapon... Yet she is resembling Cortana, reminds John what he has lost and probably didn't cherish enough when he had a chance. Reminds him that he's not just a war machine, evokes humanity within him. He had enough to learn from his mistakes too. But also they've both done a lot for Weapon to be created. She is their child to a certain extent. In my opinion, it's a truly profound ending to this unusual yet beautiful story
She's not a true copy, I'd say she's more like a little sister. A true copy would've been created from Cortana herself, we've SEEN copies of Cortana before in the books. The Weapon is not that. Halsey created her by replicating the same process that had created Cortana in the first place which was possible because she used had her own brain to create Cortana. A Smart AI's creation has to do with using a human brain, typically a dead human since the process destroys the brain. Kind of like Athena springing from the mind of Zeus in Greek Mythology. For Cortana, Halsey used a clone of her own brain with her memories copied over into it. In Halo: Shadows of Reach, Blue Team retrieved Halsey's surviving cloned brains from Cortana's creation which allowed her to replicate the process and in effect, create a new Cortana.
@@xxxhero7275 Not really. Copies don't work like that in Halo canon. We've SEEN Cortana copies before in the EPIC novel Halo: First Strike. Cortana got that ability from a Covenant AI that she had destroyed on a Covenant flagship that she, the Master Chief, Johnson a few other survivors of the original Halo game hijacked in order to get home. She could only make partial copies of herself with abilities limited to the routines of herself that she had copied. She made a copy of herself to help better crack the Covenant language using what she had learned from the ship's systems and the Covenant AI and she later made one of her infiltration routines to accompany Blue Team on a first strike mission (hence the book's name) to destroy a MASSIVE Covenant fleet that was poised to attack Earth. We're talking about something like over 500 ships here. With all of the data that she'd collected from Halo and that Covenant ship, the real Cortana was just too valuable to risk on that mission. The copy ended up making a copy of herself to help speed things along and things got a little bit... complicated. Cortana, who was worried throughout the book that the effects of all of the data that she'd collected might drive her into early rampancy, took it as a bad sign for herself how things went down with her copies, although the Master Chief promised her that they'd done just fine and that she was just fine too. No, the Weapon is something entirely different and it's pretty much confirmed in the Audio Logs. The Weapon is an entirely new AI, not a direct copy of Cortana. Halo Smart AI Creation Lore 101: smart AIs are created using a human brain to create their neural map. Because the process destroys the brain in question, they only ever use the brain of a dead human being. Basically, in a sense, the AI is in some ways a copy of the person, or at least can share some of their traits. Cortana definitely does with Doctor Halsey who is the one that she was created from. In order to create Cortana, Halsey had herself cloned multiple times and her memories flash transferred over. There was something like 20 cloned brains of Halsey and only a few survived the process. One of those brains was used to create Cortana. Halsey broke some pretty serious laws in the process which is part of the reason that she's in so much trouble. In order to create the Weapon, Halsey sent Blue Team back to Reach to retrieve some assets of some kind from a secret cryovault of hers in the ruins of CASTLE Base. This occurred at the same time that the Banished, led by Escharum, were searching for a secret Forerunner slipspace portal on Reach, kind of like the one from Halo 3 on Earth. Blue Team accidentally led the Banished to it because the portal was located below the ruins of CASTLE Base, they had found it in First Strike. Opening that portal to the Ark is what had allowed Atriox to return to this galaxy before Infinite and after HW2. It didn't stay open for long and it drew a Guardian to the planet to investigate so the Spirit of Fire wasn't able to use it to come back through. But anyways, Blue Team retrieved 3 cryobins and a lockbox from Halsey's secret cryovault. In hindsight, those 3 cryobins must've contained Halsey's remaining cloned brains from the creation of Cortana. It's how she was able to create the Weapon: she just replicated the process that had created Cortana in the first place which could only work due to the unique circumstances behind Cortana's creation.
guys this game isn't about a dad's story or a breakup story, it's about that moment when you got to reset your phone and remember the shit you had on it before and living with your phone back from the beginning
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t 100% loving this story, but I certainly felt like they tried really, really hard to work on the relationship between Master Chief and Cortana. The game had heart, and I will always appreciate that.
I feel like they're starting to get that Halo isn't about the action or intense fast paced fights with violence. But the slow and poetic story telling.
The team behind halo 5 story after seeing infinite story: But . . . This wasnt the plan. 343: The plans changes , they always do. (Im glad they made it this way, halo infinite campaing was such a joy to play)
just finished the game, came to clarify somthing: At 21:50 Cortana saying she needs more time to plan and that she has "seen your future" then at 26:00 when you finnaly kill the "Harbinger" she talks to someone like form the past, like Atriox. As at the very end you travel 3days in time, i think she had the ability to time travel of some sort, that’s why Cortana knew about Chief's return and planned the whole thing...
It is amazing that 6 games in, the Halo franchise has become what I call a "dad" game. A game about a serious dad mentoring the next generation. Gears of War, Halo, God of War, Mass Effect were once franchises that had nothing in common. Now they are all about fathers mentoring the next generation. It is almost like that the teens/developers that created the games 20 years ago have all became dads and this is what they know how to write about...
I like how the feel for both characters changes at least for me Chief and Cortana felt like the serious bf and the all knowing sarcastic gf Chief and the Weapon feels like take your daughter to work, kinda like Kratos and Atreus
I've never played Halo except maybe one time on the original Xbox for like 20 minutes, but these scenes were prolly emotional as hell for people who've played them all.
6:50 "What will it take for you to trust me?" The delivery of that line, the music, the pain both of them are feeling... 343i may not always execute their larger narrative ideas flawlessly but the way these personal stories/relationships between characters like Chief, Cortana and Weapon are told is just sublime.
I like the time where the weapon asks. What did Cortina do? Cheifs reply :"She was our target". My reply was your lucky you where that helmet all the time john.
Imagine the pain John felt replacing Cortana with Weapon. He'd worked with Cortana for 5 years and even though Weapon was a copy, she still isn't Cortana.
The chief and Cortana did not have five years together in fact they only spent a year together if that. You gotta think they were long gaps where Cortana was not with the chief. The first game is only like two or three days long in game time the second game was only a few days long in game time then before he had to leave her in High Charity then he was in Cryo-sleep for four years and then she was gone they barely had any time together in the grand scheme of things.
@@BreakinUpBudsI mean that time would be alot more important and meaningful though sense ais don't have lifespans that long and that they were both stuck in the most hectic moments of the war so it makes sense they got so close
I have yet to fully understand how Cortana died. I think that she allowed herself to get killed by the weapon while modifying her code to prevent her self-destruction after she was caught. In essence Cortana allowed herself to be killed while changing the program of the Weapon to work with John who needed help to stop Atreox from taking over the ring. And she wiped the memory of the weapon so that it doesn’t go rampant when she finds out.
At some point before the battle, Dr Catherine Halsey has already cloned and made Cortana 2.0, 'The Weapon' and deployed her onto the ring to seize Cortana. She is an exact copy of Cortana. She IS Cortana. Her memories and experiences were removed as a fail-safe. She is Cortana if she never met the Chief. The weapon's mission was to lure Cortana to Zeta Halo and keep her there until Chief arrives with the Infinity to retrieve Cortana from Zeta and delete her. The weapon succeeded in her mission and was to be deleted but because Cortana's deletion was never confirmed, "the weapon" was never deleted. When the infinity arrived to Zeta Halo it was ambushed by the Banished and destroyed. Atriox defeated the Chief and threw him from the Infinity, For 6 months the Chief was floating in space. During these 6 months Cortana and Atriox were discussing terms for Cortana's surrender. Atriox wanted full control of the ring. Cortana refuses while the Banish purge the ring of UNSC remnants and learning more and more about Zeta halo. Cortana soon realizes that she lost, and her empire is crumbling. Unknowingly of the Chief's current status, She claims that the Chief will come and stop Atriox. Atriox then shows Cortana that the infinity is completely destroyed and the chief is defeated (floating in space). Cortana learning this can do only one thing to help the Chief. Destroy the ring. In this time, Cortana stalls the banished in hopes that the Chief will still come and save her, but unfortunately this never comes to pass. So Cortana makes a plan. She realizes that the Chief needs her, but Cortana knows the Chief needs "the weapon" aka (Cortana 2.0). Cortana acknowledges her replacement and has come to terms with it. She knows that this would happen from Halo 4. She knows that shes made a huge mistake. She realizes Atriox has nothing to lose; her actions had consequences, She got the Infinity destroyed, almost got the Chief killed. This finally got her to realize that she can't do it alone.... she needed the Chief and the Chief needed her. (Atriox's victory against the chief) She leaves messages, recurring code around in hopes that it will encourage the Chief to find her or even forgive her. Cortana's final moments with Atriox, this is where she justifies her previous actions asking him, "If you knew how you were going to die, would he change anything?" Atriox says no, Cortana confirms and says "Thank you" To which she carries out her plan and sacrifices herself to self destruct the ring hoping to also kill Atriox. Cortana's final mission (although not beside the Chief himself was an act of redemption) was what it always was, to help the Chief achieve his mission to continue what he's always done best. Succeed in his duty, of protecting Humanity, what ever the cost. Cortana's duty was to do what ever it takes to achieve her mission, be it sacrifice the Chief himself or even sacrifice herself. Cortana sacrificed herself to save the Chief and all of Humanity from the banished activating the ring. Cortana left breadcrumbs (recurring code and holographic visuals) for the Chief to show him and remind him of who she was, the good, the bad and of the Chief himself, their memories. Her final message, Her final Goodbye... to the Chief was to acknowledge the mistakes she made and to tell the Chief how happy he made her. how she forgot that the whole point of her choosing the Master Chief was to be a team "Perfectly matched, Perfectly suited. Perfectly Perfect." and this was her mistake.... This is what Cortana wanted the Chief and Cortana 2.0 to learn from, her mistakes, she chose right... but lost her way.
She was locked down by the Weapon which left her vulnerable to Atriox since he got to her first. However, the reason that she died is that she sacrificed herself to blow up part of Zeta Halo in order to keep the Silent Auditorium out of the hands of Atriox and the Banished.
@@carljohnson3434 Small correction. The weapon was not deleted because Cortana stopped the deletion. The weapon said, "I should have been deleted. Delete me now chief." Chief says "no. We need to find out why you weren't deleted". And we find out that Cortana stopped the deletion so that Chief could have help fighting the banished.
She basically ended up destroying herself trying to fix what she’d done. She realized that she was wrong for helping the Banished and her last bit of energy was spent preventing Weapon from being deleted (she didn’t want Master Chief to be alone) and leaving that final goodbye to John. I think she also left that message so John would stop blaming himself for not being able to stop Cortana from turning bad.
Um Most of halo 4s plot revolved around the flood. Promethians were created to destroy the flood, the didact was driven crazy by events that happened because of the human forunner war and later the flood forunner war both caused by the flood.
While playing I could swear they had set up the flood to appear several times -- even made a Gravemind quote i think was "Now I shall talk, and you shall listen." Then there was another about containment or something and then I think chief mentions the flood or something, I didn't take too much note ... the gravemind reference hit pretty hard and I started prepping for flood lol.
God - this Really hits Home - for those of us who had been with Master Chief and Cortana in their epic journey over the years - going through their incredible and moving experiences, seeing their heroic resilience against all odds, while reveling in their wonderful and funny times together, and being Inspired by their beautiful Love Story. The tears just flow freely in nostalgia, and there is that wistful wish for all of these to Stay Forever in Eternity. Their legendary team up will always have a place in our hearts, and in our consols too We have truly delighted in Halo’s breathtaking, surreal visuals. Plus the musical scoring is so Perfect, as Cortana would put it. We had also felt kinship with some of the great characters that make up the Halo multiverse Our deep gratitude to Bungie, 343 Industries, and Microsoft for giving us such profound and memorable moments on our great Halo journey
Cortana reminds me of how the Forerunners are described in Desendent Pypres audiologs. She was afraid of losing her power. Humanity in history was attacked because they threatened their hold of the mantle. They didn't
I don’t believe this is the true Cortana from Halo 1 - 4. One of my friends proposed a theory that one of Cortana’s split personalities survived at the end of Halo 4 and became the evil Cortana we saw in Halo 5. I like this theory and consider it canon in my book. It gives the Cortana we knew a nice conclusion and doesn’t ruin her character, while allowing for the fans of the evil Cortana to still have theirs. And it brings all of us together as we experience a brand new Cortana being born.
Idk the whole build up of halo 5 of cortana going insane and the new threat that is the guardian yet in infinite she died off screen and guardian is just laying down…felt kinda lame
so its kinda like father and mother OG cortana helped prevent cortona Jr from deleted so john could have a more perfect cortona its really sad but i can understand it i can see why she made mistakes and wants to make sure Jr doesnt
the silent auditorium, a prison for trillions of digitized souls. An entire race of A.I. Unable to be deleted, only stored. That is the only thing coming to mind that could be worse than the flood, at least for me.
I think that The Endless is just another name for The Precursors, there is a possibility that some of them likely were digitized as a backup plan incase using The Flood didn't work out. We don't know how many of them were out there and for all we know, there are some in other galaxies with time travel or something, they're effectively gods in the Halo franchise so we have no idea how powerful they were at their height
Last I read they are a species with biological immortality that the forerunners were jelly of. Forerunners were kind of obsessed with the fact that despite the technological mastery they still died. The tried digitialized minds but that didn’t work out so hot.
Ah bro i can’t accept cortana’s death 20 years of character development and it finishes without seeing her actual death? I don’t think she really dead tho I will believe…
Given how quickly AI can move between systems and I’m pretty sure a forerunner toaster has enough processing power to house an AI I can’t imagine how she couldn’t have found an escape route. My guess is she is hiding out and helping were she can. I wonder if the new AI has the same limited life span since humanity has gotten more access to forerunner tech.
its quite rare that a game gets you to tears, this one sure did... Playing this game since it came out, it sure does feel a bit sad seeing cortana gone :(
The one major thing that doesn't make sense for this whole game is the fact that the weapon realized she was a Cortana copy by the finger snap mannerism, a mannerism that Cortana never had but the game acts like she did. The weapon could have had the mannerism herself, she is her own personality, but something else could have made her realize what she was...
She had the finger snap in Halo 2. She believed she was made to mimic Cortana. Not that she actually was Cortana. So her appearance and look she thought was given to her to appear as another AI was actually just her.
Cortana had it, we just didn't see it much because she was just typically hidden away in his armor. The one time that I really remember it was in Halo 2: when Cortana revealed that the Prophet of Regret intended to activate Halo, she smugly snapped her fingers while translating what he was saying and then again to stop the hologram.
This may be an odd interpretation however I see the story of Cortana and Master Chief to be a romantic relationship and in a truly odd way Weapon is the child of the two of them, I understand this is truly an odd assertion, but hear me out. Throughout the first three games, it is unilaterally agreed that Cortana and Master Chief have a reserved romantic relationship. Although the Cheif himself is a man of few words and the series is lacking extensive expository dialogue the player "feels" the reserved connection (with a few touching moments) affirming them as a partnership so to speak (wife/husband esque). With that, I think the Husband Wife relationship is established let me explain why I see Weapon, Chief, and Cortana as a family unit. Weapon's relationship with Cheif is far more parental as she seeks his approval, and affirmation, along with some of his ridicule. She seems young and is a blank slate, who after now realizing her mission has changed I think expands her personality outside of that predesigned box making her rely on Chief and define herself. This to me displays a clear parental relationship, however, how is Cortana a mother to her? Well firstly, just as any parent to a child she bears a genetic (in this case systematic) likeness. In this aspect, she is identical, along with a similar appearance. The beauty is, due to the inclusion of differing experiences her code has the base sameness as Cortana but transforms into her own person. In this, she is like a child sharing the personality traits of her mother and her likeness yet is her own person, something many of us can relate to as we see similarities with our parents and often the same struggles. What truly cements this mother-daughter relationship however is Cortana's final actions, and her mistakes being visible to Weapon thus giving not only connecting them genetically but also an influential one, as many of our parents share their experiences with us so we may be better than those before us. In this, she is her mother both in nature and in nurture, along with sharing the influence of her father actively, who had a romantic involvement with her mother. The lasting impression I get from this circumstance is one of beauty, as the Chief now is able to rectify his mistakes of the past surrounding someone he cared deeply for through this new person who is much like the person who birthed them. Cortana is gone but lives on and in this way, she is immortalized and never too far from the Chief. 2 Small PS Messages. 1. Sometimes the way I sit may remind those around me of my father and the snapping of Weapons fingers is a nod to that contiunation of Cortana within Weapon. 2. Weapon shares no physical nature with the Chief but to me she couldnt and shouldnt, neither does this take away. Spartans serve one purpose and as such they aren't meant to have children. Additionally, the deleberate attempt of Halo to keep Master Chief masked and ambigous behind it to me makes his infullence upon Weapon fitting and all he needs to fill that more reserved parental role.
I never played Halo cause I don’t have an Xbox but from what I’ve seen of it, Cortana and John did seem to be in love. War came first so they never truly got to be together longer than the mission required. Cortana felt sad for John because Halsey took his whole life away to make him the perfect soldier. They both were created for war and that mutual bond was what eventually spawned love
"There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero never gets to see that ending. They’ll never know if their sacrifice actually made any difference. They’ll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith. Aint that a bitch..." - Church
It's a pretty exciting idea really. They are rebooting the story without destroying the franchise, bringing back one of the most intimidating villains in Halo(I think Atriox is alive) thus opening the possibility to see Spirit of Fire, and giving us the chance to explore the story without having to recap the mistakes of Halo 4 & 5 we get to recap the AI war while finding the other Halo characters. Also instead of a love story I think we'll see a father and daughter bonding throughout the show, this would make it more touching to me. The daughter of Cortana and Chief.
Give chief a pistol and a grenade and he can take down a couple of tanks. But basic human interaction? They didn't include that in the spartan 2 training program lol.
Sadly this will probably be the last we see her. Not like if they brought her back everything would go back to normal. She's done too many bad things to be forgiven by the rest of the galaxy.
Cortana and Atriox being hyped up as the villains for the last few games, and where are they? Killed off screen and a too be continued. My legit only complaint, I was excited for Cortana badguy and was denied.
Infinite has a wonderful story that hits hard. They did such a good job with the soundtrack and bringing back cortana with good closure. The pain of the weapon as she realised what she is, John's battle with trusting her. Brilliantly acted
I may be among the minority here...but the cortana storyline really bugged me. Her "goodbye" scene really didn't hit me hard - because it was a recording - and she's just now realizing that she and chief are a team? She killed a bunch of unsc and blew up the station holding a bunch of spartans, and had nothing to say about that. idk man cortana bugs me in this game, my reaction was "you can take your apology and shove it"
She seemed to only like Chief and Blue Team. And John was the reason she destroyed the ring. Plus she is insane at this point, so its not the true cortana
I gave up on halo along time ago, I never stopped loving the original bungie games, bungie art, bungie music, bungie story, but after h5 and even after h4 to an extent, I just gave up on the series. When he was on that ship in the first level he literally had to blow it up because he couldn't hack the Stasis Beam controls without an AI or at least someone who knew how to hack.
Should’ve let her die in Halo 4. Her memory wouldn’t have been ruined otherwise. Killing off Spartans for her ‘goals,’ preparing to subjugate the known universe into a forced and fearful peace and even going against Chief himself. There was no going back with this path.
Cortana did die in 4 in my mind. Some sort of rampant part of herself was free and went insane on a self righteous path. That’s why it’s so important when she whispers to John “so much of me is wrong, out of place, you might be too late. Forgive me”

Master Chief pushing "Take Your Daughter to Work Day" to the extreme.
@@WarGrowlmon18 she’s a fragment of her pieced together with extra parts.Shes pretty much cortanas daughter....
@@WarGrowlmon18 she’s a fragment of her pieced together with extra parts.Shes pretty much cortanas daughter....

So, Weapon doesn't remind anything?.. Or, sorry my lack of akownledge
(Atriox's victory against the chief)
She leaves messages, recurring code around in hopes that it will encourage the Chief to find her or even forgive her.

While playing I could swear they had set up the flood to appear several times -- even made a Gravemind quote i think was "Now I shall talk, and you shall listen."
Then there was another about containment or something and then I think chief mentions the flood or something, I didn't take too much note ... the gravemind reference hit pretty hard and I started prepping for flood lol.
They're not. Which is a relief because I really fucking hated those things!!!
Their legendary team up will always have a place in our hearts, and in our consols too
We have truly delighted in Halo’s breathtaking, surreal visuals. Plus the musical scoring is so Perfect, as Cortana would put it. We had also felt kinship with some of the great characters that make up the Halo multiverse
Our deep gratitude to Bungie, 343 Industries, and Microsoft for giving us such profound and memorable moments on our great Halo journey
Cortana, we all have been to hell and back with you. The covenant, the flood, the didact. It was a good run
It could be I suppose.
Yeah. Thats what happened. The rampant part of cortana found the domain
Dude all this build up for cortana story from Halo 5, and i love every second of it
Idk the whole build up of halo 5 of cortana going insane and the new threat that is the guardian yet in infinite she died off screen and guardian is just laying down…felt kinda lame
so its kinda like father and mother OG cortana helped prevent cortona Jr from deleted so john could have a more perfect cortona its really sad but i can understand it i can see why she made mistakes and wants to make sure Jr doesnt
the silent auditorium, a prison for trillions of digitized souls.
@@Furydragonstormer they're a species of their own, not precursors
Last I read they are a species with biological immortality that the forerunners were jelly of.
Forerunners were kind of obsessed with the fact that despite the technological mastery they still died.
The tried digitialized minds but that didn’t work out so hot.
Ah bro i can’t accept cortana’s death 20 years of character development and it finishes without seeing her actual death?
I don’t think she really dead tho
I will believe…
I hope...
The emotions that this game brought to the surface is staggering. I enjoy these types of games so much.
its quite rare that a game gets you to tears, this one sure did...
Playing this game since it came out, it sure does feel a bit sad seeing cortana gone :(
I cant believe that i actually cried 😢
Weapon - "I don't know what to say..."
*room collapsing*
Weapon - "Scratch that!"
Made me smile a bit.
Definitely seemed like something the og cortana would say it made me smile in a sad way like your kid reminding you of your dead partner.
It took me a minute, but I finally realized what the Weapon is meant to be: she’s John and Cortana’s “daughter.”
I need the music that plays during the first Halsey scene. 😩 😭 I literally had to pause the game for 10 minutes to wipe the tears from my eyes.
Chief sounds softer and has more humor in this
At certain points.
Can we all agree this is the best out of 343s story modes. And it being as good if not better than halo 3
It is good but is not halo 3
And Not as good as 2
It is using the bases stablished by those games
lmao hard no
This game can never replace three no matter how hard It tried.
Fuck no. It could have been if it didn't get rid of Cortana and her story though, that choice just breaks the whole story and I'll die on that hill.
Lmao fuck no
Damn seeing and hearing some of these echos from the older halos..
It really sucks that this is finally goodbye to Cortana
31:18 Chief doesn't know what to do with his arms. I would love to see the expressions on his face.
Lol
Give chief a pistol and a grenade and he can take down a couple of tanks. But basic human interaction? They didn't include that in the spartan 2 training program lol.
Bro master chief really took the xbox series x ssd's out of his head 😭😭
Got rid of my Cortana...GET MY WAIFU BACK!
That shit broke my heart
Sadly this will probably be the last we see her. Not like if they brought her back everything would go back to normal. She's done too many bad things to be forgiven by the rest of the galaxy.
@@csab8642 she got corrupted by the gravemind let's hope it doesn't happen again.

................... A FEW MILLISECONDS!!? Seems like you had all the time in the world! You're faster than I thought, Cortana.
For an AI, they can do a lot in that amount of time.
I think her knowing so much about John and how he thinks and acts helped her conduct her plan quickly
I’m trying to picture this game without cortana. I really am

@timunderwood7465 this just made me realise that the weapon is to cortana what epsilon was to the alpha, only without all the memories
Cortana and Atriox being hyped up as the villains for the last few games, and where are they? Killed off screen and a too be continued. My legit only complaint, I was excited for Cortana badguy and was denied.
Atriox still alive. He may be the next big villian with the dlcs coming out.
Atriox is not dead though. He's right there at the end.
Atroix is alive. His arc from Halo Wars 2 and Infinite are not over
Master Chief "You get to choose your name"
Cortana "I think I might have the perfect one...... Karen"
I really like how the passcode is Samuel's Samuel's spartan number 034
0:57- "You need to delete me!"
9:32- *Surprised Pikachu*
Infinite has a wonderful story that hits hard. They did such a good job with the soundtrack and bringing back cortana with good closure.
The pain of the weapon as she realised what she is, John's battle with trusting her. Brilliantly acted
Cortana learned her mistake... At the gravest of costs.
CORTANA ISNT DEAD. (Atriox has cortana it shows her preserved in one of those slabs at the start of the game)
I haven't seen the whole walkthrough, but the execution of these scenes had a lot of heart and soul; and that I appreciate. Cheers!
John can never be at his best without a cyber-waifu at his side.
When he was on that ship in the first level he literally had to blow it up because he couldn't hack the Stasis Beam controls without an AI or at least someone who knew how to hack.
Honestly bro
The line "I chose well Master Chief" hits a cord but when she affirms it with "I really did" man does it do something else.
Yup. Master Chief is right.
The Fight isn't over yet.
Should’ve let her die in Halo 4. Her memory wouldn’t have been ruined otherwise. Killing off Spartans for her ‘goals,’ preparing to subjugate the known universe into a forced and fearful peace and even going against Chief himself. There was no going back with this path.
Well they had to undo the events of halo 5 and I think 343 did a good job killing her off for good like they should have
@@michaelfatner9424 yeah. Or at least bring her back in a way that doesn't make her a monster
@@csab8642 they failed to do so in 5 but now, they gave her the send off she deserved
Cortana did die in 4 in my mind. Some sort of rampant part of herself was free and went insane on a self righteous path. That’s why it’s so important when she whispers to John “so much of me is wrong, out of place, you might be too late. Forgive me”
