I generally agree that Chief should've been able to put up much more of a fight. But I completely disagree with those saying Chief should've wiped the floor with Atriox. For one, Atriox is not your average Brute. He's intelligent, far more cunning, and a much greater threat to Spartans in general. And Brutes are already capable of severely wounding or even killing Spartans. No doubt this is setting things up for a round two, and I'll be looking forward to Chief getting his payback.
Plus, Atriox showed up when Chief was distracted by another enemy. Chief isn’t able to tank the attacks from several regular Brutes at a time. What helps him overcome the odds is his ability to avoid attacks until his shields recharge and he can go back in for another attack. He’s able to outlast his opponents rather than outmuscle them. Atriox didn’t give him a chance to do any of that. Chief didn’t have much of a chance here.
"And Brutes are already capable of severely wounding or even killing Spartans." well yeah...if the Spartans just stand still .... lol. A chieftain can(emphasis on CAN) kill a Spartan though, but if an average brute does it then he just got lucky.

Fun fact, Masterchief weighs 1000 pounds, Atriox lifted him with one hand, leading me to believe that 1000 pounds for Atriox are nothing more than lifting your book full + lunch school backpack, so when John fought against him, it was obviously going to end bad, Masterchief weighs 290 pounds without his armor, and he can lift three times his body weight, that is 870, and the powered exoskeleton system Mjolnir armor has some accelerated kick to it, John is strong, super strong against humans/ODST and elites, and brutes, but compared to Atriox, he is just strong, I like these odds, since it makes John even more admirable, considering that he managed to stand up to a super brute, and get a couple of punches in there while he was at it. Still, he can be beaten down, but he can't be held down, John survived guys that would simply mop the floor with Atriox's beard, he is either getting older and more tired, or the developers needed something that would cause John to be in the situation that he is in, for there to be gameplay that we could have. Masterchief will die someday, but it won't be by Locke, that I know for sure, or in the words of Sargeant Johnson, "one of these days you're gonna land on something as stubborn as you are, and I don't do bits and pieces" but I even doubt that.
I like how the camera angles of Infinite portray Master Chief as the towering giant he is, but when going toe to toe with Atriox, he looks tiny in comparison. Makes you think how monstrously enormous Atriox might be.
Growing up with the Halo franchise, it definitely hurt seeing Chief just get bodied and thrown around like a rag doll with his enemy being almost completely unfazed by everything he tried

Yh pretty much it’s not because he got the jump on him or like any defense anyone try’s to make for master chief i too think it’s just bc atriox is pure fucking mighty

@@missfortunemain9064looks like it kinda was because he got the jump on him though. chief wins in a fair fight which is probably how their stories will conclude
Sometimes halo has to remind everyone that chief isn’t invincible and can and will get his ass kicked sometimes. Sure its fun watching chief be an unstoppable beast of nature but its even better when he gets his ass handed to him and he comes to get it back in blood.
The fact that chief blocked the hammer hit without moving makes me wonder in a hand to hand fight could chief actually hold his own for a bit longer
The bonus scene. Those Spartans are probably in older Mjolnir. Their ship has been out of the fight for a long time. Then they come face to face with the hitherto untouchable banished leader. They're not used to getting bodied like that.
Imagine being able to casually pick up 1000 lbs with one hand and flail it around like a wet sock.

None of these correlate to the 343 ass-pull that is Atriox?
@@reimuhakurei2123they're moments that happen in the books which are counts and cannon.
When chief can take hits from a amplified melee weapon multiple times, yet I'm here in halo Infinite getting killed across the map with a gravity hammer.
Still a crime the most anticipated fight was narrowed down to an intro cutscene and the main villain didn’t even appear again until the fuckin end
Watching Atriox beat the shit out of Chief while wearing spartan/ODST armor was quite painful ngl. Still really cool, at least it's more lore accurate.
It wasn't all that painful for me I was expecting this because chief has won so many times almost never seen to Struggle against his enemies except that one brute in the comics who almost crushed his throat
Can't wait for more Atriox goodness in the future, hope they don't waste him
When chief punches atriox all that played in my head was” those hits where ELITE”. Hurts to see him get tossed but it gose to show how strong chief is. while red team got obliterated even when there was 3 of them chief held up pretty well standing alone and off guard.
Still knocked the wind out of Atriox
Chief deadass showed Atriox something for a few seconds. He's lucky the shields went down to those 2 hammer hits beforehand.
Watching him get his ass ROCKED like this shocked the shit out of me. But it's also nice to know that the chief isn't invincible

@@jamesgarry112 I'm the biggest chief fan there is but it's pretty clear Chief was wrecked by Atriox
@@blackrose8418 if Chief and Atriox were to start 100 yards apart and go at it in daylight, Chief would probably win. Here he was unarmed, his shield was cracked, he was already tired, and he was caught by surprise. He still managed to throw a few heavy hits and didn’t need a new shoulder after all this. Give him an assault rifle, a few grenades, and some distance and I don’t think Atriox could 1v1 him. Atriox has a completely exposed face that Chief would 100000% exploit.
Not in a fist fight but if Atriox survived I bet Chief would have bodied him in the rematch
@@publiusthefederalist6843 Watch the end credits of infinite
You see, I’ve been saying that it gets boring to see Master Chief man-handle enemies like they were nothing. It’s refreshing to see that our hero in green is just a man, and that’s why he’s the best. Humans aren’t invincible, Spartans are just augmented humans. No matter how scientifically modified we become, there’s always something stronger than us to remind us that we aren’t invincible. But just because we aren’t invincible, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t just give up. No, even after defeat. Chief gets back up for another round, and that’s what I needed. To see my big boy in green get knocked down, only to show that he’s determined to get back up…learn from his mistake and remind the Banished. Why humans don’t go down without putting up fights
Chief considered himself the machine of the 2 between him n cortana. He is not an ordinary human. He is a super human with born fighting genetics only to be enhanced even greater
343 ass-pull is still boring nothing is refreshing here

Man, just look at the size and power of Atriox. MasterChief looks like a kid out of 10th Grade in front of him.
Chief put up more of a fight than 3 other Spartan 2’s. He’s just on a whole other level of his own
Chief losing to Atriox is very possible and believable. Random Brutes are FUCKING TERRIFYING and can tear apart any Spartan II in hand to hand combat.
You expect Chief to go up and win against the most cunning Jiralhanae, who's got YEARS of startegy and fighting experience, and who managed to convert an entire company of Convenant "Silent Shadow" (Covenant Head Hunters) to his own cause?
1:34 This part reminds me to Noble 5 death scene on Halo Reach, when he takes Noble 6 and throws him out from the Covenant Super Carrier, while you are seeing this scene in First person.
Even Noble 5, as Atriox, is showing his face without any helmet.
Chief missing the grapple as he’s falling is the most relatable part of Infinite

Reminds me of how 343 has treated the franchise.
I really hope this is like a Bane/Batman situation, and Chief's eventually going to kick the shit out of Atriox with pure strategy next time they meet.
Fun fact: Atriox is actually wearing a heavily jury-rigged ODST chest plate as part of his torso armor. I always found it interesting how the Banished didn't give two shits who they stole tech from, as long as they could use it.
For the record, Spartan 2s in lore have a reaction time of 20 milliseconds, or 1/50th of a second, also I believe at one point in time chief sprinted 60 mph
