I love the slow build up of her snapping her fingers. It's a thing Cortana did and she did it too, but there's never a need for an AI to do it at all. It was just a small tick of Cortana's that Weapon inherited.

They wont ever change her name. It will be cortana. She will be the better cortana. See, she now knows the future of herself if unchecked. When you know something about your future you actively work to redirect course. If they change it, the true fanbase, the ones that were there in the beginning and followed the journey, grew together, read the literature...will riot.

I love how Chief changes throughout this game, like he starts off denying the Weapon everything he gave Cortana so fiercely like he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to delete her when the time came and then he says “You’re her- if we’d never met” and it seems to click into place, like he’s realized that she is his second chance.

I mean its a little obvious, but my GOD does the acting just completely carry this scene! From Atriox's barely contained rage, to the Weapon's absolute horror, to Chief's voice nearly cracking while talking about his guilt, to that chill inducing delivery of "I don't... but I want to." This is art right here!

It explains why Atriox seemed so dead-set on killing Chief at the beginning of the game. Cortana had taken something dear to him, so he (tried) to kill the one person she cared about more than anything in the Galaxy.

Shes been with him for 4 games as his companion, imagine having someone you care about that was by your side on every journey who comforted you and helped you cope with stuff to all of a sudden seeing her betray you and become your enemy watching them become the very thing you both fought against, its painful for chief to see Cortana like that from a friend to a villian he has to fight.

I mean this was less about intimidation of him and more about simply about giving him a choice and sending a message to every other race in the galaxy what happens if you choose to oppose her. If he decided to obey then fine and if not she gets to send her message. At no point does she view him as a threat and despite the context of this level she is completely right that Atriox is no threat to her. Her capture had nothing to do with him and basically only was due to Weapon. If not for her, then Cortana's Guardians simply swat aside Atriox's fleet like they are nothing. Yup,. the story recently is how the people around John have been questioning if hes just a machine or is his humanity second to his mission. His mission, and he knows, is a never ending one. Hence "the missions changed, they always do." He fully knows that his life will never not be the mission, his programming. The only emotion he always held was the love he felt for cortana. He let himself down by choosing love over the mission by not destroying her. Thats what made him come back to humanity. Not having cortana around to do most of his thinking and drive, gave him a lot of time to think on what and who he is as a human and not a weapon. Most emotional Halo ive played. He finally got real closure with Cortana 1.
Their relationship was truly a human one. Lovers for years, married for few more, then it all fell apart. He was fighting for someone choosing another path, once he realized she was never coming back, not the same at least, all he really needed to move on was closure. I wish more franchises were story driven and not cash grabs and loot boxes. Thanks 343 for giving fans what we needed.

By the time we get to present events, Earth has 7.9 billion humans. Saying that our population went up a couple billion at the end of the war (unlikely due to few year difference between Halo 3 and Halo Infinite), we're still dealing with about almost half of the human population being on Earth. If Cortana blew up Earth, humanity would be inches closer to extinction as about half of our remaining population would be dead. Cortana, as batshit insane she became, would never allow herself to continue where the Covenant left off with humanity.

That was what she hoped, and it was only after she messed things up by destroying Atriox's homeworld, and making him decide to take over the ring that she realised that she screwed up. And the presence of the weapon on the ring at the right moment in time, helped her make up her mind on what needed to be done. You're right, before knowing her he obviously couldn't conduct special operations at the age of twelve like recovering nuclear weapons or infiltrate heavily guarded asteroid bases, neither could he kill highly trained ODST specops with his bare hands at that age, he obviously couldn't manage himself in combat let alone be the leader of the whole Spartan program in the field ; he also couldn't wrestle an armored exoskeleton as simple training. He could never destroy a Covenant ship by himself nor could he single handedly turn the tide of entire battles against the covenant. It all happened because Cortana was there. He actually needs her a lot otherwise he would never have been selected into a program based on genetic selection to identify individuals with superior intellect, reflexes, strength and determination as well as mental stamina.
He didn't even finish the fight in Halo 3 without Cortana for 2/3 of the game. He never fought without her in Halo 5 either.

That has a predictable timeline for a Nirmal AI but for a Cortana model, out on the Frontline and frequently interacting with forerunner AIs, flood graveminds and Covenant systems, they are storing much more complex data than nor al and that's might have an unknown affect on how the Weapon may develop.

I mean, she had, at one point or another, fully integrated with covenant ships, UNSC ships, UNSC bases, Flood controlled UNSC bases, and quite a lot of Forerunner tech too...
She had probably stored so much data that she didnt have the time to convey to Chief, or Halsey.

I haven't seen it referred to often - but there is some lore about what happened.
Cortana was infected by an AI-version of the Flood - that's what she did in Halo 5. It's a digital flood, and it first affected Mendicant Bias, the war-AI of the Forerunners and was the reason why the rings were fired in the first place.
The Forerunners lost almost every advantage they had for the same reason Cortana did - in Halo 3, when the Gravemind was interrogating Cortana, that's what he was doing - infecting her with the Logic Plague.

I'd say that the Weapon isn't truly a copy but more of a younger sister if you think about it. Halo: Shadows of Reach explains both how the Weapon was created and Atriox's return from the Ark. During that book, the Keepers of the One Freedom and the Banished search for a Slipspace Portal to the Ark on Reach like the one from Halo 3. They manage to find and activate it and Atriox flies back through in a Lich where he's picked up by Escharum.
But the big thing was that at the same time, and this was about 2 months before Cortana's destruction by the way, Blue Team returned to Reach. They were seeking some Cryobins that Halsey had stored in a secret Cryovault in the ruins of CASTLE Base. Now at the time I thought that they held some kind of secret Forerunner technology because those Cryobins supposedly held the key to defeating Cortana somehow. Now I get it: they held Dr. Halsey's surviving cloned brains from creating Cortana. In order to replicate the process that had created Cortana and make the Weapon, she'd need the same brain that was used in Cortana's creation: her own, or rather a clone of it with her memories copied over. She used those 2 surviving cloned brains to recreate the process and essentially create a new Cortana model AI, the Weapon. Presumably she still has one brain left over too.

For anyone who was confused by this; the Weapon was created with very limited knowledge. Basically, she was just a child. Young, naive, new. She didn't know anything about other AI's, much less, what Cortana did (as she said herself). For all she knew, all AI's looked the same. That's why it was a surprise to her that she's Cortana's clone. Hell, she was supposed to be deleted after Cortana died. She was never meant to learn these things, as it would compromise her. Knowing the truth about her creation was too dangerous
Also, kinda annoying that the uploader removed the music from the cutscene just so he can monetize. The musoc is what made it 10x more powerful

Noone mentions the rampancy that was at the root of Cortana’s madness or the factshe split herself in many pieces to save the masterchief. She didn’t go mad because she was flawed. He should tell her otherwise she can never trust her own ‘brain’.

The weapon's voice acting is on point, but my god does she have Mass Effect Andromeda face.

Jesus Christ, if ChatGBT was this emotional, no one would use it for anything practical.

i love the weapon, its like a young daughter seeing the wonders of the world, getting excited about everything. shes the same but different enough. they done a great job with t tbh. I loved when she was pissed off with chief for abit in the game, had me laughing. I think her dynamic with chief is already really strong after just one game.
