Technically she is not the bad guy, she has the same view as the Forerunners had, that only they (she) were capable enough to assume the mantle of responsibility. I don't say she is correct, but she isn't necessarily wrong either.
@@Gachmara I primarily say this because to announce the fact that only she was capable, she used the exact line the Didact used, though replaced Forerunner with Created. That and she's trying to justify actions that go against what she and the Master Chief had fought against in the previous game.
@@pbateman4124 Why? Are you saying she didn't basically become Mendicant Bias 2.0 minus the whole "defecting to the Flood" thing (though that has yet to be seen since Infinite might reveal something new)?
It’s also just a weird command for that instance. Like focus fire on whom? Your own target, or the one closest to you, or the one furthest ahead, and which area of their body? Maybe I’m overthinking it but i would’ve thought master chief’s reaction time would let him come up with a better command
Feel like they put that in because they just wanted Chief to say something as they were getting attacked. Something more appropriate would have been like: "Blue Team, engage all targets" or something like that.
@@zosirscales If you read the books they communicate mostly through their HUDs in their helmets and 90% through hand gestures. Their suits would've targeted who the chief wanted them to shoot but for sake of the cutscene, they made him talk instead.
@@zosirscales what Chief means is that each one of them should focus on a target in front of them , rather then just having them spraying . would they ignore all targets and just focus on one target, that would make no sense. i dont know why its hard for you guys not to understand that command
Is no one else bothered by the fact that the biggest baddest Covenant Elite (Jul'Mdama) with the most backstory we've seen in a loooong time got killed in just the SECOND cutscene? He was supposed to be a warrior too...
That's the point lol I only watched this because I don't have an xbox one and heard Halo 5 was ass.. hopefully they sort their shit out in Halo Infinite which is supposed to come out on PC
Planetside 2 came to mind. Except, there are no cutscenes in Planetside 2.... That's actually the stuff you do. 343 makes the main character do all the cool stuff in cutscenes while in game you just do the shooting. Bungie had you board a Scarab, Personally kill Regret, destroy Guilty Spark. 343 would've had all of that in a cutscene.
H5 Cortana looks like Data from Star Trek and suffers from the screen actor syndrome. A super lazy method of animating games. To be understood, super lazy because 343 is incompetent. Other games, despite using it, show NO such issues. Like they "taped" Judge for Kratos' face. Which is hands down, the best motion camera tracking + face tracking game so far. Has no lazy mouth, has no issues with expressions. No face tightening (puckering). Motion is fluid etc. ALL of the issues in H5 and other shit games, hey, at least their faces aren't tired...
Nah, I'm gonna have to disagree, the armor makes her look more badass and she's not too revealing anymore. Is that why you like bungie's design better than 343's? Because of her "nudity?"
Christopher Edwards i like the “nudity” of her 4 design not because I’m attracted to it but because to me I see it as an artistic decision. Nudity shows vulnerability and we all know the story of 4 had the most vulnerable version of Cortana and chief. So that’s my take on it idk if you care haha
@@WarGrowlmon18interesting....didn't know that...I'm definitely guilty of only playing the games and not reading any of the books. Probably why 75% of the dialogue here is going over my head lol
I hope 343 industries learns now the importance of NOT creating a false narrative when promoting their game. This game would've been a decent entry, had they honestly told us that it would be a Spartan 4 centric story, with Master Chief and Blue Team being a part of it. Also, they should've had the opening scene of Blue Team be about them reuniting, so that people who did NOT know the backstory, at least would be properly introduced to the characters. Then have Blue Team discuss old times, when Fred or Kelly brings up the new generation of Spartans...which would lead into the cinematic for Fireteam Osiris.
Me personally, having us play as Osiris is BS, why not just let us play as blue team the whole time and when it gets to cutscenes they could tell how they (Osiris) went through, or at least have us know what blue team was doing while we're Osiris is at least what they could've done.
@@christopheredwards9904 Like most Halo fans you missed the point of not playing as Chief. Even though we aren't playing Chief his presence is always there as he is the focus. Off screen presence - Is when a character is so big that even when they are not on screen they are still affecting events in a story. We get to see how much of a hero Chief is in the Halo Universe. This type of view isn't possible from Chief's own eyes. Also it makes Chief's decisions his own rather than the player. It was very well done even despite the hate from those that were too simpleminded to get it.
@@JD-kp3kt Personally I thought Osiris were interesting characters because I view the series from a non bias opinion which is hard for most in the Halo community. I get that the series is beloved and the classics were great but lets not pretend it didn't have flaws or weak characters to begin with. Can you give me an example of interesting characters in Bungie Halo that isn't Arbiter?
@@fearingracer4253 Look again: he has the new elites design. His armor just hides it pretty well. In Halo 2 Anniversary intro cutscenes he does use his Halo 2:A model underneath however.
@michael reynolds We are fast approaching within the next century being able to past up the processing power of a human brain, and to a limited amount some AI already have the ability to learn and adapt around parameters. To say a real AI will likely never exist is just like saying humans will never fly or reach the moon. And I'd like to see a citation for this "400 yodabites" of memory required for a AI to run.
michael reynolds deep learning has already become a thing in this day and age...legit a good portion of what you come across the internet consists of deep learning AI, just in a primal form
***** I'm putting it down to 'cybernetics eats your soul'. Cortana was heavily damaged when she entered the domain, and I'm assuming the forerunner code that she used/was used on her to repair her is what caused her to go crazy. Cut that junk out and she could regain her old ethics and priorities. Though let's not get too crazy. Both she and the Chief have killed hundreds of thousands in the name of military objectives. It was a bit cheap for the Chief to suddenly care about such things, and even more so for Cortana to not call him on his past behaviour.
which I hate....locke isn't thor...they are mortals. The intro made them out to look like they can on-hit-ko every single enemy even if the odds are literal 5billion against 1...sorry but they are just humans sure spartans are good but come on. How am I supposed to feel like I'm in danger when doing a mission if the game literally starts with thousands of enemies and them not even get a scratch. It makes it seems like there's zero danger. That's why ODST had such a better story that made you feel like there was actual danger.
AdonisGaming93 the game had always been like that. John 117 was always OP and made you feel as the player like you can solo the whole game on your own.
Gotta tell you, i just did a rerun of all the Halos before Infinite drops, I only ever played up to Halo 3 when i was a kid. Got real bummed when i found out i couldnt play Halo 5 (since I only got a PC), but your video is so well put together that it made my afternoon. Cheers to you!
actually chief wasn't the only spartan left, during the covenant even near the end, blue team, along with the remaining Spartan II were up to stuff. it's just that, bungie couldn't decide on the reaming number of Spartans, and 343i is left with that mess
immortalgaiden there contract or something ran out or they didn't want to make halo any more..... 343i does care about the game, but Microsoft is a dick
actually 343 has been part of halo sense the first game. bungie on the other hand didn't want to work on halo games anymore for some reason that i managed to forget about cause they stopped literally after halo reach. any halo game after that didnt have anything to do with bungie
this is heartbreaking. i was playing halo 3 today and I played halo 4 yesterday. these campaigns made me feel so happy when the Chief and Cortana were a team. to me, it when John was in his element, halos 1,2, and 3, but during halo 4 you can see him become more desperate. in halo 5 he looks broken and helpless, finally unable to save the day. it came down to Locke. I'm also saddened to see such a witty and loveable character, Cortana, turn evil. it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth remembering all the fun I had when she was the chief companion helping him/me shoot shit up. and now she is our enemy. :(
The fight scene between Locke and Chief in this was pretty badass though, I'm glad Chief won the fight. Pissed me off something fierce when Locke broke Chief's visor.
Blue Team must feel struck as well, in the novels, Cortana helped them escape Reach in one piece (excluding Linda) and now they have to fight somebody who they own their lives to and trusted like a friend.
Cortana isn't evil. She doesn't run around killing everyone just for the hell of it, anymore than Chief and the other Spartans do. She believes she is doing the right thing, just the same as her creator did when she kidnapped children and forced them to become Spartans, a process which was brutal and killed most candidates. In the end, her "solution" benefitted mankind. Cortana's flaw is that she doesn't see the difference between peace and slavery. She believes she is parenting the galaxy, but sentient species will never see it that way (except for religious zealots, who will likely see her as a god and gladly bow, just like the Covenant species did). Being ruled under an iron fist, no matter how benevolent, is still slavery and servitude. I would argue that the Created are generally free of the flaws of humans, like corruption and temptation. Those are the vices that destroy peace in our world.
honestly for the canon story (mostly books) it's very out of character for him to disobey and order so easily It was just so instilled into the chief and other spartans to ALWAYS follow orders. They could barely even consider disobeying I get he would do it for cortana, but the others should have hesitated a bit more
Arbiter- “When you see CHIEF again- tell him I send my greetings. Vale-“Locke, I never heard Sanghelli address human like that. - Me- That’s is called respect lady.
I always thought she was referring to the whole "strength and honor do not grow from timid seeds". "Your harvest shall be grand" comment directed at lock himself.
Cortana looks awful in this game. No in-game explanation as to how the rest of blue team is alive and where they've been. 343, Halo 6 better be a monument to all your sins.
With Blue Team not being in the games up to this point, no explanation was needed since they're just new characters from a fan's perspective. You don't need an explanation as to how they're alive if you didn't know they were dead to start with.
Rhas 'Churol The fact that they weren't in the games I think means they deserve an explanation. Like all of a sudden there are more Spartan 2's? Maybe for someone new to the games its not a huge deal but having the last known remaining Spartan 2 be the main character for all this time they can't just throw more in without explaning how they survived Reach or where they've been this whole time. Especially with characters as important as the Spartans Chief grew up with.
man so in reality the games left out soooo much like blue team didn't really go MIA till what would be Halo 2. then you got the whole finding Halsey and blue time on Onyx in the books and that book also explains where the spartan 3's came from ie another Spartan2 that was still alive
I don't get why ppl don't understand the storyline, it goes like this: Cortana (The Catalyst) is using the Guardians (The Reapers) and the Created (Synthetics) to ensure galactic peace by wiping out every opposing life form (Advanced Civilizations). So, the next game, Halo 6 (Mass Effect 3), will show us how the Master Chief (Commander Shepard) will finally put in end to this whole ordeal with the Mantle (The Cycles). And of course joining the Master Chief will be his good buddy the Arbiter (Wrex) and all of his Elites (Krogans). And no matter what happens, Master Chief will always be loved by his blue friend Cortana (Liara). See, simple enough! :)
+Jacob Robinson Well…the Master Chief's (Shepard) best friend, Sam-034 (Garrus) didn't survive the events of the Battle of Chi Ceti (the Suicide Mission). Damn the Covenant (Citadel Races) for hating humanity! Although relations get better at the end of the Human-Convenant War (Battle of the Citadel). If only the Forerunners (Protheans) were more helpful...
gotta love how Chief's almost blind tampering with ancient technology always starts (and ends) trouble. to think, all this started back when the Pillar of Autumn made that blind jump...
And now Infinity just made a blind jump. Running from an impossibly powerful alien enemy chasing the ideals of the Forerunners. Now where have we seen that before?
1:33:04 if in her last words before being forced out by Exuberent, Cortana is calling John, you know that somewhere deep down she truly loved him. Even if she became a mad AI beforehand.
John felt much closer to Linda than Kelly shown by how hard he was hit by Linda’s “death” in Fall of Reach. He relied on her for pinpoint accuracy as the team’s sniper and even described her as much more beautiful and comfortable being alone than other Spartans. Kelly was closer to Fred which you can see in First Strike with how they communicate after losing Spartans under his command.
THE EQUALIZER Contrary for me, I noticed that the books always go more in depth in regards to their emotions. Take the book The Flood for example, it’s a book version of Halo CE, but you get to see how John actually feels, such as fear and anxieties. Then again, to each their own. :)
This game had SO much potential... I would of loved a firefight-styled campaign where up to four players could link up and play each member of Blue and Osiris teams for the missions. Give some life to the other characters. Also, gotta love Buck.
45:00 Oly Oly Oxen Free is a signal used by the young spartan II’s to mean “all clear” it’s so ridiculous that only other spartan II’s know the code. I read fall of reach and first strike, this game has so many referencesto those books that anyone who didn’t read them are missing huge sections of information
I'm honestly disappointed in the animation in the beginning where they free Halsey. In-game elites are swift and move about a lot. They could still make the fights more complicated and have the protagonists win. Step up your game 343. I wanna see good fight scenes in H6.
Honestly, the Arbiter's fight with Johnson was more epic than Cheif's fight with Locke. Heck, I'd say the same about Chief's fight with Arbiter in Legends, and that only lasted ten seconds!
Then I wouldn't advise you to watch Halo Wars 2 custcene where Jerome takes on a room full of elites alone (and then defends it against a large group of brutes). :D
I quite enjoyed the idea of Cortana switching sides. Had the potential to be an awesome arc. Pointless QTE's in Halo 4, taking the limelight from Chief in Halo 5 and shoehorning all these new Spartans into relevancy just sucked. This game just blew all the world building apart. Visually great, that's all though
@@scenczyk1429 Nah game doesn't look like Halo In all the other Halo games you can look at human equipment and go ya that's human alright but in 4 and 5 they are trying so hard to make it look high tech that it comes off looking either alien or plastic... Like the Halo 4 and 5 battle rifle for example it looks like I could snap it over my knee... Also think the armor design sucks it makes them look like bulky power rangers... Basically they went to Destiny in their aesthetic choices and not grungy future space military it is in the rest of the series... Just look at the ships hangers and vehicle bay no roll out toolboxes spare parts or random oil stains lying around it looks to clean and sanitized.
The thing is, this game really isn't all that bad. It's just so VASTLY different from what 343 told us it was going to be with all of their marketing and hype, that when this finally came out, it left us all scratching our heads. Also, I really wish they would've explained Fred, Kelly and Linda more. Those of us who have read all the books know who they are, but that had to be pretty jarring for most people.
thank god i never saw any of the marketing for Halo 5. when i finally got around to playing it, i was able to enjoy it for what it is, not what it told everyone else it was gonna be
The issue was all the connected media you needed to buy in order to understand all of this. They honestly should have just saved this plot for a post-chief halo or spin off while building more on halo 4. Or at least have more in game info to actually get to know the characters. The biggest problem with 343 halo is that the trilogy is barely connected and when looked at in one piece they’re god awful. But if you look at each one as it’s own independent experience it can help. Still hope they don’t just say fuck it and reboot the whole franchise
maybe this is all just a dream for john. Maybe he is just dreaming, hopefully bungie gets halo back, or another new studio does it and starts the story properly when he wakes up.
I personally think that 343 should just leave this story line alltogether. The Halo campaign fascinated me for so long because the theme was always sacrifice for humanity and for your team. True heroism against all odds. That is what was so captivating about the Halo campaign and inspired me through my childhood and still fills me with nostalgia when I play it. The emotional endings in Halo 3, Dr. Halsey´s monologue at the end of Reach or the way Chief escapes the first Halo with a Longsword fighter. Those are truly memorable moments because the main goal is not to prevent an AI revolt or some wacko Terminator Spartan fighting against each other shit like that, but to remind us of the great sacrifice (not only Chief, but captain and commander Keyes, Johnson, Buck in ODST, Noble Team, you name it) these characters made. I think that they should just go back to the origins of the Human-Covenant war because there is so much that could still be exploited in the story line: Harvest, Sigma Octanus IV, ONI operations, the Halo rings etc. The Halo campaign was so cool because it had this feeling of not knowing what was next, of fearing the shit out of the flood or seeing a Zealot and going back to pick some ammo or a better weapon. The truly last good Halo game was Halo:Reach, which in my opinion, being the last Halo game Bungie delivered, showed what Halo was (not is) all about: sacrifice. As for Cortana, she should´ve died with heroism and the courage that defined all of those who died for the cause. I truly miss when humanity didnt had the upper hand. When all we had was riggity ass frigates against Covenant carriers and we had to use our minds and our skills to figure how to survive and overcome odds in each mission. I miss that inspirational and emotional Halo. Truth is, the few remaining Halo fans out there that have been playing the franchise since the very beginning should not waste our money in useless shit like this. This should be more than just a game with fancy armour gadgets. Sorry for my english, as Im not a native speaker.
I Totally agree with you. The last Halo game i played was Halo 4. The last good Halo game i played was Halo : Reach. Halo has allways been about selfless sacrifice in the face of crushing odds. Not infighting as halo is apparently reduced to now?
i just was playing halo reach. I am kind of a nooby of the halo. I only really played halo reach with a friend years ago. I found it at my house and i am playing it currently. I am almost done to the last part. I just love the campaign and the sorrow the game brings. However, I am still confused about what part of the story halo reach is about. I just want to know in total what is reach? I think you are a smart halo fan so i am asking you I hope for a response.
+glassviggen Reach was a UNSC stronghold. it is where the Spartan-II was in boot camp it was more or less the pride of human achievement and a testement to human strenght. That is why The Fall of Reach was so devestating because the covenant destroyed it so "easily"
Completely agree with you. In my personal opinion Halo Reach was the final Halo game ever. Anything after that is a spin-off. But that's just me. Also for someone who doesn't speak English as a native language, you did fantastic.
Wildchild_inc why would you want those shit characters back in the game. Halo 5’s campaign was complete DOG SHIT! Every spartan in the game had no character development. Hell lemme ask you a question what would change if a shit bad writing character like Vale wasn’t in the game? Nothing, because no one gives a SHIT about her, because she has no character development. Now, what if a character like Sergeant Johnson wasn’t in the game. We would have known comedic relief, in halo. This is why Johnson was a great character because he had great writing and a good story. I really hope they don’t even bring back these halo 5 character to infinite. I hope they take a more original route, which seems to be seen right now. So in my opinion I hope to god those PEICE OF SHIT CHARACTERS NEVER EVER RETURN TO THIS FRANCHISE. Like I said earlier Halo 5 was a complete joke of a campaign.
I heard the multiplayer player mechanics were pretty smooth but as for the campaign... I feel more engrossed in the youtube comments than the damn story line
The worst thing about this whole mess is the intro 3 minutes and onward. Seriously, what is the covenant even charging down the mountainside for? Just on a picnic? Also, Halo was historically free of stormtrooper syndrome, both the UNSC and the Covenant being competent and a legitimate danger to one another, but in this intro.. the spartan IVs just sort of catwalk through the warzone while blasting elites with zero effort. They don't even use tactics, they just dance through the damn warzone. This is such a far cry from Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 and mostly Halo Reach in which the spartans were no doubt the most deadly soldiers on either side, but they were still mortal and had to be careful and employ tactics to win. What a joke this is.
Methodical gameplay has been replaced with dashing twitch shooting garbage. I wish they would just attempt to recreate what made the first 5 so great. I don't think every single change they've made is bad but there's still a lot that I don't like that they've introduced. Legendary war zone is boring garbage. Like you said, literal stormtroopers, no tactics. It's like they looked at halo wars for elite behavior lol
Everything TheLordexilius said is true. Disappointed with the respect to the lore, and the multiplayer in general feels..well..plastic. Halo 4 was much better in every regard, in my opinion. Further, gameplay as a whole Titanfall 2 does it way better, though I grasp they're different game types to a certain extent.
Yeah I get what you mean with the campaign, and think some of it comes down to context. I think in recent years they've started relying too much on sub content such as comics and expansions like spartan ops to fill in the gaps between games and how haloverse has changed. As someone who didn't seriously follow halo lore until after 3, halo 5 kinda bothered me as it was so drastically different from OG lore. Like with the intro to name one example. All the advancements in spartan tech is evolving how they can fight (lol had to check wikia for that), but there is literally no basis for it beforehand. So I'm sitting there watching it like 'this is pretty and all, but when did chief ever do this????' And then there's the fact they've gone from trying to split reclaimer story from 3 games into even more. With 3+ years between games, the story is just moving too slowly, even if the overall idea isn't that bad as a whole...
In the books so long as Spartans have the element of surprise, they were more than capable of doing exactly what you see here. The same is true in the old Legends animation The Package.
@Desert Power I’ll admit some story points are pretty outrageous and dumb such as Spartan Locke killing Jul Mdama i’m the first 10 minutes and Cortana becoming this cliché villain. That being said, I believe this game has its moments. The soundtrack is amazing. Gameplay is pretty good in most points and the emotions cheif shows towards cortana really make you feel with him. He’s really not some war machine. But yeah this game could’ve definitely been better. I’ll agree.
TheAtomicJav Bungie/343i aren't very subtle when it comes to their love of Firefly. I mean, the cast of ODST brought Mal, Wash and Jayne back together and Buck is basically Mal as an ODST/SPARTAN-IV.
Outside, Chief is a killing machine: a force to be reckoned with. Inside, like any other human: he is vulnerable to emotion. Tends to be more concious on each decision he makes.
I don’t get why people don’t like halo 4 in my opinion it was a pretty good game and as the first Xbox game I’ve ever played it will always be special to me, halo 5 on the other hand just sucks plain ass.
Thank you for taking the time to edit all of this together. Don't have access to the game, so in order to make an informed opinion, this is the best I've got.
Same, i play on PC and i finished Halo 1-4 games but Halo 5 isn't on PC yet and i think it'll never gonna come, i wanted to play it so badly bec of the Lore and storyline but unfortunately there isn't any way, this is the best thing I've got to catch up the lore and start Halo Infinite.
I honestly feel bad because Halo 5 was my first Halo game and I thought the series was kinda stupid because I didn’t understand anything. Now I wish I was born a decade earlier and got to play the other games as they came out
What Danny said just play them whenever you want via the MCC. It’s never too late to get into a franchise. I got into Halo last year December 2019 when Game Pass was available to me and I had such a blast. I actually got Game Pass again recently and I’ve been replaying them as a refresher and it’s so great. The only thing is you gotta go in with an open mind as the graphics won’t be like Halo 5’s. I personally don’t care about graphics but others may so it’s just a tip.
Yknow I always thought that Humanity had to put out tons of Spartans due to the lethality of elites, they were agile, strong and love melee combat. Now it feels like they'll get their asses kicked by grunts
So apparently 343i didn't even play the original games. An Elite with an Energy Sword was dangerous, even for a Spartan. This game is an insult to everything Bungie created.
@@Neutronomy Not only that, but the Sangheili under the Covenant Empire where RAISED to be warriors. These are just remnant factions that, in some cases, wanted revenge for what either humans or Thel did to them (like Jul M'dama)
@@thyCarrot Wow, that sure makes for interesting story and gameplay. "In Halo 5, you fight weak enemies that are remnants of what you fought in the previous games". What a joke.
Its almost as if the next generations of the Spartan program improved upon the design. It's almost as if Chief's combat data slaughtering Covenant was used to train the next generations. It's almost as if the Covenant command structure has crumbled and training/active combat scenarios have decreased for them.
Not to defend the generic character noone asked for, but locke does have ONI training, years of experience as an assasin, Spartan IV augs and armor. He doesn't stand a chance to win that meele but he can probably give the chief a mild nuisance, and the chief was holding back cause he doesn't want to kill Locke. Which is what happened.
@@Loispealz34 the only thing out of that list that chief doesn't have at that point in the games are the S-IV augs, and even then the S-II augs are objectively better. The cards were pretty heavily stacked against Locke lore-wise but 343 decided that Locke losing wouldnt be fun from a story perspective.
@@Loispealz34 Get off Locke nuts He's not a bad Character He's an cold blooded Solider who puts feelings aside what you should be complaining about is Cortana.
@@hoodiek6802 Oh trust me. I did my fair share of complaining about cortana already. My point about Locke stands: No one asked for Generic Call of Duty commando. I Personally wouldn't have minded another character, as long as said character was actually memorable (Hell its not hard at all to do so, just look at Noble 6 and Rookie, Not a single word and somehow are 100% cooler than mr. Oni Assasin).
343 failed so miserably in their interpretation of the elites...if that cutscene where Osiris just hopped onto those elites and knifed them as they flailled around helplessly was in accordance of true halo lore, they likely would have been torn limb from limb, lifted off their feet and executed with a sword to the gut,or destroyed before even getting within melee range
FrankieOn ScriptsIn420p the 2 trailers about how either one of them was going to take down the downed version of them was a bit misleading though. everything was all good at the end :/
He belongs to the adventurous stories! Have you seen the live action Uncharted? That's the good stuff. You can tell he only did Castle to have something going on when inbetween the projects fans really want him to do.
forerunner slipspace technology was more advanced than human or covenant slipspace, i think it could either be that or it could just be a plothole. i believe it’s because of the first option because it also happened in halo 3 when truth opened the forerunner slipspace to the ark.
I don't think it is more advanced it just depends on where it happens. They always pull stuff through. That's how genesis ends up covered in Covies and UNSC gear.
Hell yeah! Thanks for the upload, and like someone else said, for including important dialog outside of cutscenes. Watched the whole thing, now my body is ready for INFINITE!
+Mads Lundsgaard The Covenant is broken. A protracted war with Humanity, the Great Schism, and destruction of High Charity and its defense fleets have left it with a fraction of the power it once had, and now that the alliances are breaking down the Covenant will no longer be a galactic force. Humanity is the new Galactic powerhouse since the end of Halo 3's storyline. Besides, Blue team used to make crushing Covies look easy, I would hope the team they sent to catch them could do the same. Halo 5's story had bigger problems than Covenant that seemed too easy, though I generally like the Story and the direction they're going with it. The gameplay and the decisions that 343 and their MicrOverlords have made regarding it are what make me worry for Halo.
+cahsahhhhhhhn That's true, but elites are still elites. They look like fucking pussies in this game. You don't make one of your major antagonists look like pussies right from the get-go. That's dumb.
I sensed stroooonggg Avenger influences in this game. Especially in Osiris's opening scene. It feels so off because artisticly they're trying to be more dark and gritty than the original games, but then they just randomly throw in action scenes that look like they're pulled from a kids movie, just because they think they have to. Halo 5 actually has a pretty strong story, if you ignore the fact 343 was trying wayyyy too hard to create epic moments every 5 minutes.
Don't think the Spartans and elite have ever been equal, don't get me wrong there has been grate skilled elites that have been able to take Spartans on in combat but over all the Spartans have always been dominant in combat hence why they call chief a demon or like when artiox in HW2 told red team to run little demons.
Spartans are literally described as gods in the books. Some of the best fighting machines in the galaxy. Read about them, you fake wannabe Halo fan. Halo 5 was the best representation of what Spartans are supposed to be.
+happysbab actually it won't feel that long if you are daily on the Internet. Every year seems like nothing has pass me by lol, I must get my real social life back. It's been four years when I was introduced to Internet and it still seems like that day to this very day.
Eh, Blue team actually is much more of a team, lol. They have the most missions run out of any Fire Team in the UNSC, and trained together on Reach from the age 6. Republic Commando was pretty cool too though.
Thing is, Chief barely speaks, but every. Single. Line. Is awesome. Thel' vadamme Speaks a fair bit more, but his way of speaking (And keith david's Amazing voice) make every word something we drink out of. Jonhson was literaly the greatest halo character to ever exist. I would do the "Change my mind meme", but ya can't. Buck...

Master Chief: "focus fire"
Rest of blue team: *fires at their own target*
It’s also just a weird command for that instance. Like focus fire on whom? Your own target, or the one closest to you, or the one furthest ahead, and which area of their body? Maybe I’m overthinking it but i would’ve thought master chief’s reaction time would let him come up with a better command
Feel like they put that in because they just wanted Chief to say something as they were getting attacked. Something more appropriate would have been like: "Blue Team, engage all targets" or something like that.

She use to be so thicc

I'm putting it down to 'cybernetics eats your soul'.
+Ezi0AuditoreDiFirenz Agreed, now Cortana seems out of character.

this is heartbreaking. i was playing halo 3 today and I played halo 4 yesterday. these campaigns made me feel so happy when the Chief and Cortana were a team. to me, it when John was in his element, halos 1,2, and 3, but during halo 4 you can see him become more desperate. in halo 5 he looks broken and helpless, finally unable to save the day. it came down to Locke.

Now that's fair. That's different from an explanation of how they survived, though.
Rhas 'Churol it's just details like that, which could make this game so much more.
man so in reality the games left out soooo much like blue team didn't really go MIA till what would be Halo 2. then you got the whole finding Halsey and blue time on Onyx in the books and that book also explains where the spartan 3's came from ie another Spartan2 that was still alive
I wish Bungie never left Halo.
Same goes for most of us. :(
bungie wasn't perfect, they had fuck ups
***** actually no 343 is doing better
***** they sucked a lot at there own lore
FirestarterGaming No they didn't what part of their lore sucked? It was all consistent with each other and I at least found it quite entertaining.
Sorry for my english, as Im not a native speaker.
k
Cortana went full Yandere

Aw, fuck. Ya nailed it.
Cortana is Yuno Gasai.

Who's here after halo infinite announcement?
Got to fresh up right? Even if new game might be a soft reboot.

I just hope we still see blue team and other spartan fire teams.
I feel more engrossed in the youtube comments than the damn story line
same LOL.XD
OMGMyHairsOnFire Multiplayer honestly feels like cod tbh. Halo 3 and Halo Reach were the pinnacle for Halo's MP imo.
Even with 343 Halo is still better than COD.
Coral Jamston as a halo and cod fan, FACTS
Doom's better than both XD
Halo: Reach had the best art style.
Yes
Reach is over all mu favorite game, but Halo 3's armor looked better. But Reach's designs were 50x better than this and 4.
halo 4 looks fine but this game looks fuckin disgusting and it sounds gross too elites are the worst part
@@bonapart8453 Oh, you mean the Elites with Brute voices?
No. The original 3 Halos

39:04 Random villager: "This spartans are putting their asses on the line for us, give them a hand!"
Spartans: *Jumping on to the metal door*
Ai op lol
I like how fucking heavy they all sound when walking in the last cutscene.
Vault Boy well their armor ways a freakin ton
I agreed with you until you said halo reach and then I realized you’re a casual
Yeah I get what you mean with the campaign, and think some of it comes down to context. I think in recent years they've started relying too much on sub content such as comics and expansions like spartan ops to fill in the gaps between games and how haloverse has changed. As someone who didn't seriously follow halo lore until after 3, halo 5 kinda bothered me as it was so drastically different from OG lore. Like with the intro to name one example. All the advancements in spartan tech is evolving how they can fight (lol had to check wikia for that), but there is literally no basis for it beforehand. So I'm sitting there watching it like 'this is pretty and all, but when did chief ever do this????'
And then there's the fact they've gone from trying to split reclaimer story from 3 games into even more. With 3+ years between games, the story is just moving too slowly, even if the overall idea isn't that bad as a whole...
In the books so long as Spartans have the element of surprise, they were more than capable of doing exactly what you see here. The same is true in the old Legends animation The Package.
The story is great, from blue team being basically a family. To the "goodbye, John" along with the music its just👌
Especially because the halo games usually either had: great story. Or: great pvp. And halo 5 is one of the best combos
@@Rootin_Tootin_Roomba yes I love the music and the story nice to know I'm not alone
@@dragonweezle4876 Yeah i like it too. To bad everyone else hates it
@Desert Power I’ll admit some story points are pretty outrageous and dumb such as Spartan Locke killing Jul Mdama i’m the first 10 minutes and Cortana becoming this cliché villain. That being said, I believe this game has its moments. The soundtrack is amazing. Gameplay is pretty good in most points and the emotions cheif shows towards cortana really make you feel with him. He’s really not some war machine. But yeah this game could’ve definitely been better. I’ll agree.
@Desert Power English?
the fuck's castle doing in halo ?
Oh I know. I was like what the
well he was a space cowboy once! XDonly makes since to upgrade
He's been in Halo since 2007. He was Sergeant Reynolds in Halo 3 and Buck in Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach and now Halo 5.
Sergeant Reynolds, as in Malcolm Reynolds probably haha
TheAtomicJav Bungie/343i aren't very subtle when it comes to their love of Firefly. I mean, the cast of ODST brought Mal, Wash and Jayne back together and Buck is basically Mal as an ODST/SPARTAN-IV.
Outside, Chief is a killing machine: a force to be reckoned with. Inside, like any other human: he is vulnerable to emotion. Tends to be more concious on each decision he makes.
Yeah, I'm just gonna continue believing halo 4 and 5 are just chiefs dream (or perhaps nightmare) while he's in cryo.
This is actually great canon
That's what's actually happening as far as im concerned.
And halo infinite is when he wakes up
Halo 4 was rly good except the didact was a bit krap and the art style had a few negatives but ye halo 5 campaign sucks
I enjoyed it! Not only showed the cutscenes, but also the events during free play so things are running smooth. It is so nicely done. Good Job :)
1:14:50 is the only time I've ever heard Chief yell, and also first time to hear him get scared/startled/freaked.
Watch Halo 4's cutscenes again. Particularly, the scene where the panel Cortana's chip was in disintegrated.
Stryger Ah, I never really watch cutscenes, I just like to finish the game within a few hours so I always skip them.
Slime GamingYT That part wasn't a full-blown cutscene, it was more like a short scripted section...but you know what I mean lol.
Stryger Yeah lmao
+Stryger that broke my heart , especially the first time I played that mission.
I’m 13 and my first halo has #2 on the OG XBOX, now I’m a die hard halo fan
Edit; I first played halo 2 six years ago.
Yknow I always thought that Humanity had to put out tons of Spartans due to the lethality of elites, they were agile, strong and love melee combat. Now it feels like they'll get their asses kicked by grunts
Normal soldiers arent that good compared to elites
Spartans on the other hand are different
Spartans are supposed to outmatch most elites
23:19 "Probably sacrificing resolution for logic cycles." Sounds like all gaming consoles are in late-stage rampancy, then.
So apparently 343i didn't even play the original games. An Elite with an Energy Sword was dangerous, even for a Spartan. This game is an insult to everything Bungie created.
Well, Emile died with a Sword in his back.
@@Neutronomy Not only that, but the Sangheili under the Covenant Empire where RAISED to be warriors. These are just remnant factions that, in some cases, wanted revenge for what either humans or Thel did to them (like Jul M'dama)
Leonel Cantú de Llano an elite with an energy sword killed emile
@@thyCarrot Wow, that sure makes for interesting story and gameplay. "In Halo 5, you fight weak enemies that are remnants of what you fought in the previous games".
What a joke.
Its almost as if the next generations of the Spartan program improved upon the design. It's almost as if Chief's combat data slaughtering Covenant was used to train the next generations. It's almost as if the Covenant command structure has crumbled and training/active combat scenarios have decreased for them.
So we gonna pretend Locke stands any kind of chance against chief in a fight "ok"
From what I've seen, chief definitely took some hits on purpose cause he's not actually trying to block the hits
Never thought I’d imagine this would be better than the Halo series on Paramount
343 failed so miserably in their interpretation of the elites...if that cutscene where Osiris just hopped onto those elites and knifed them as they flailled around helplessly was in accordance of true halo lore, they likely would have been torn limb from limb, lifted off their feet and executed with a sword to the gut,or destroyed before even getting within melee range
i was wondering when the halo rings were going to play a role. it's halo without the halos up until now.
the secret cut scene shows a new halo
thats what i meant. i was talking about the ending cutscene. about time an actual halo ring appeared.
Zaimulwaie Now we'll see locke and Master fight along each other and kill cortana
FrankieOn ScriptsIn420p the 2 trailers about how either one of them was going to take down the downed version of them was a bit misleading though. everything was all good at the end :/
I'm assuming that Cortana wants to fire them to erase any living things that are 20 light years in range...just a Therory.
After Firefly and Outer Limits he goes SciFi again :p quit Castle and back to the roots!

Arbiter: Yet you are hunting another Spartan, the greatest in your clan
The arbiter putting respect on the Chief name
Aren't slip-space ruptures in atmosphere and on planets supposed to be catastrophic?
i think the covenant and humans were, mostly due to that the forerunners were much more advanced in terms of slipspace and shiz
Yes. Unfortunately there is a plot hole: in H2 there is a huge blast above New Mombasa, in H3 no explosion occurs (covenant fleet above crater)
It's a plot hole, but let's just say the universe just does what it wants. . Sometimes it wants to destroy cities and sometimes it doesn't
forerunner slipspace technology was more advanced than human or covenant slipspace, i think it could either be that or it could just be a plothole. i believe it’s because of the first option because it also happened in halo 3 when truth opened the forerunner slipspace to the ark.
I don't think it is more advanced it just depends on where it happens. They always pull stuff through. That's how genesis ends up covered in Covies and UNSC gear.
At the end of the entire Halo 5 movie. All I can think about was Arbiter and Master Chief LETS GET IT!!!!
Im saying i was expecting them to high five and shit
I WAS HOPING THEY WOULD TALK TO EACH OTHER OR SOMETHING MAKES ME SO MAD!!!
This feels like Power Rangers mashed with Final Fantasy.

0:50 Can you imagine what it would feel like to look upon your life's work, your greatest achievement and see her smiling up at you?
I hate how they made the Covenant look so weak in this Halo... The Elties used to be so frightening to humans etc... Now they're just... meh
***** Agreed
well I do agree but you have to think, after centuries the elites might have grown weaker. they can't stay powerful for ever.
AliceManson It wasn't centuries, it has only been a few years since the end of Halo 3.
I loved the Firefly reference. 'SUDDEN BUT INEVITABLE BETRAYAL' 👌😅
I remember when elites used to be equal to Spartans, now Spartans are avenger level threats now
I sensed stroooonggg Avenger influences in this game.
Since when? Noble 6 literally goes through elites like nothing and halo wars the 3 Spartans make mincemeat of the elites

Eh, Blue team actually is much more of a team, lol. They have the most missions run out of any Fire Team in the UNSC, and trained together on Reach from the age 6. Republic Commando was pretty cool too though.
Clones age incredibly quickly like 2x as fast, and have very short natural life spans. Spartans don't.
