DJI Avata microSD slot and the trick to inserting and removing the card.

- DJI Avata is a remarkably small FPV drone but the tiny size means the microSD card slot is tucked inside the propeller guards. You don't want to drop an SD card over grass or snow where it could get lost. Here's a handy trick that makes it safer and easier to insert and remove the microSD card in a DJI Avata drone.

Dear friend. You are a lifesaver !!! Thanks. So useful. DJI designers are crazy.
DJI come up with some pretty amazing designs - this was not one of them.
Thanks for sharing.
This saved my day! Thanks for posting :)
I bought a small pair of curved needled nosed pliers and filed a notch in both jaws to catch the ridge on the card .
I keep them in the cup on my desk with all the pens and pencils . Thinking about adding a couple of O rings to
add extra grip. I push it in and out by reaching across the prosser body . Under the battery would of been my choice
for a good location .
A tool maker! Good job. 😃
I use garden pliers that also seems to help
I am 1000% doing this- thank you!
Happy I could help.
That was helpful. Thank you.
Happy to help. The micro SD slot is one of few awkward things about the Avata.
hey Liked and subscribed... Thank you
Thank you
Using forceps is a good way as well
Yep, that would work.
Great Video what charger you recomended to all accesories ?
Charging the Avata batteries and Goggles 2 battery is easy and they're compatible with most new chargers. Just hook up whatever you have that supplies the most power and it will work. The Motion Controller is a bit fussy and doesn't like new Power Delivery chargers. Hopefully, you have an old charger. I have charged the Avata with a 20 watt iPad charger, a 45W MacBook Air charger, and a 60W PD charger that I got on Amazon (don't remember the brand). All work fine. For the Motion Controller I use an old 15W iPad charger that was meant for the iPad Air 2, which is very old.
Nice one sir. Can we copy files from SD card without taking it out through usb port?
That might be possible with the latest update. I'll check and let you know.
I just double-checked. Yes, but it's still awkward since you have to connect a USB-C cable to the port beside the microSD card. Both are under the cover within the propeller guard. I didn't realize that you can access both internal storage and the SD card via the USB cable. The latest Avata update enables transferring content from the Avata's internal storage to the microSD card.
any idea how to get the clips off the drone itsself? says no more memory to record but everytime i use it i delete the footage ive recorded.
You must mean getting video off the built-in storage. I haven't tried that yet. I've been using a microSD card and it does get easier with practice. I'll experiment a bit and make a video if I find any tips that help with internal storage.
@@AvataTime I was talking with dji support for about 30min on the matter. they ended up saying they'd have to forward it to their engineers for further review. When I would go to look at the footage on the drone itself, Id scroll over the album icon through the glasses and it would be shadowed or unclickable. I ended up having to format the drone with all 20g being lost and then did the same with an sd card before putting it in the drone. i hadn't used sd card in either the goggles or drone yet. don't depend on being able to view your content without the card is what I learned.
That’s really weird. I haven’t had a chance to check this out but I will see if I can figure something out.
I finally came upon a need to access the internal storage and it’s relatively easy. Just connect a USB-C cable from the Avata (beside the SD slot) to a computer and the internal storage should behave like a USB drive to computer.
Do I have to have two SD cards in order to record the drones view? I put one in the drone and not the goggles but when I hit record, there was nothing to show after. However when I put one in the goggles, it ofc records my goggle view but not the drones. Assuming I have to have a SD card in both?
New to this whole drone thing, appreciate the video and help in advance.
What’s the bag in the background? Been searching for one for a while
I show that bag and a new one in the video below. Both are padded and protect from water also.

It's weed.
😆
Good
Thanks
I noticed your blue case where did you get it.
Here's the Amazon link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FQA0YDQ/
It's a nice for for the Avata, Goggles 2, Motion Controller, and a couple of extras batteries. I'm not sure if it would work for Goggles V2 or the FPV Remote Controller since those are larger.
I ordered a new bag to try this weekend and I'll post a video if it works out well.
Here’s my video review of the old and newer carrying cases. ruclips.net/video/ad4e9YB8FuE/видео.html
Thanks! Great drone, shit slot
😂thank you!
Are we going to ignore that the voice is Saul Goodman?☹️
Hahaha, better call AvataTime
Maybe just keep a pair of tweezers in the carry case
After a few days of practicing, this method of reaching around the guard is working reliably. My wife says she prefers to just access the card slot directly so people smaller fingers might not have any issues at all.
I don’t have fingernails… I use a pair of tweezers
Yeah, tweezers work. I can actually grip the card with the pad of a thumb and finger, but everybody has different hands.
use tweezers or just leave it and use a cable.
It quickly became easier after removing and inserting several times.
i just wanna know how to get the video on windows lol and yes this is a pita
The best way is via a microSD card reader. They’re really cheap. Pop the card, insert it into the reader and plug that into your computer and it acts like a USB drive. Your videos will be in the DCIM folder.
most brainless location for SD. DJI should win the Dumb and Dumber award for that !
well i thought id learn a trick here but unfortunately you've just gone through the logical steps anyone would go through trying to take out the card. there is no trick. hope you have fingernails, and long fingers.
I suppose you're more clever than me. It took me awhile to figure out to reach over the propeller guard instead of going right for the card slot. Good for you!
I use tweezers
Yep, that's a good solution.
