Great video David! I didn’t know I needed this drone until I watched your video. First the Pocket3, now the Avata 2 - Subscribing to your channel is becoming expensive.
David been watching your entertaining videos for a long time now. We both laughed when you were about to fly the Avata 2 for the first time and had the quick start guide but said you’d check it as you got started. When learning manual on this, with the stick controller, keep a finger on the switch that puts up back into sport or normal mode. That way, should you loose it, hit the switch and recover.

man I've been dying to get an avata - Iove your perspective from someone who flies GPS drones and how quickly you picked up the Avata. I'm struggling in the simulator right now. I really wanted to learn on the regular controller, but I'm thinking the motion controller might be the best way to learn FPV for me. Great video!
The motion controller was shockingly easy! I was sort of bummed that I didn't get the controller, but then I started flying and realized why. This thing is the beginner's cheat guide. Again though, to get fully into it and improve, I'll need to get a controller at some point!

I can't wait to fly it. Order one 2 days ago, got bungle package with controller 3. with 2 yrs coverage. It like fly fighter jet, with jet controller stick. My old one is Mavic pro never crashed. Find bubby that has one and race that be cool.

Were you able to use this in heavy winds? I live on the east coast and wondering if this will hold up to strong ocean winds when flying around the beaches. I have a DJI platinum pro and it’s super stable when windy.
Great Video !! I really appreciate your comment about 60 to 70 % of FVP results with the motion control and getting the 30% remaining will take much longer time with the controller.
I guess it will take about 10 hours in simulator + 10 hours in real FPV with controller. That´s a no brainer for a beginner and I did not hear anywhere else in youtube.
Only proble you do not remember you mentionned is that is not cheap. The combo you tested is $ 1,200. A lot for a beginner...
Totally agree that $1,200 is a lot for a beginner, but you definitely get what you pay for with this system. I've tried a couple other beginner style FPV drones and crashed and burned pretty quickly!
I learned real quick when buying my new unit. If you're willing to pay $1,000 dollars for this drone package, you should be willing to pay the extra $200 dollars. You get the 2 extra batteries and the external charge and this case as a bonus. It's totally worth the extra $200 bucks. I don't know anyone that wants just 1 freaking battery for their drone.
For almost any camera these days, three batteries is a must. DJI's combo kits are the best in the game!
How about the RID which is now required? Is it in the software or you got to buy a module? I would like to get one

Hi, thanks for some great videos, I'm considering buying my first drone but I'm not sure which one to buy, it stands between DJI Avata 2 or DJI mini 4 pro. which one do you recommend?
If I were you, I would go Mini 4 Pro. That drone goes everywhere with me and is always in my bag. The Avata 2 is a really fun drone to fly and I do love the footage, but for videos/photos the Mini 4 Pro is my go to!

Since you have flown both the Avato and the Mini 4…which would you recommend? I know it’s probably comparing apples to oranges but I’ve been thinking of both…just have to sell my Mini 3 first.
Two different drones with different purposes. The Mini 4 Pro is an amazing CAMERA drone. It’s primary purpose to take cinematic video of the environment it is flying it… but it to record your environment / travels etc. The Avata 2 is a drone that is all about the experience of flying… the Googles and dynamics of an FPV put you “in” the drone and you get the enjoyment of feeling like you are flying… the video is bonus.
@@canyonblue737-8 thanks for that. I actually have the goggles with my mini 3. I haven’t used it yet because I’m not used to the motion controller yet but I will be practicing sometime soon.
For me, the Mini 4 Pro is the drone that I'll still get the most use out of for filming. Maybe once I'm a whole lot smoother with the Avata 2, I could use it for footage. Right now though it's mostly just for fun!

you need a license and transponders so govt can track the drone and the operator. And spotters to keep the drone within sight?

How is the noise on this? I know the first Avata was really noisey.
For sure quieter than the first Avata, but all FPV are pretty buzzy
The controller looks like it might be a bit problematic for us left handed people. Looks like some of the controls would be hard to reach and control.
By looking the size of that bag, it'll be quite difficult to travel with it!
At the start I was like YEEEEE, but then it changed…
I would rather get better at FPV, to reach that 100%

Can the camera work independently from the flight controls?
I think if you enable head tracking it sort of can, but for the most part it seems to follow the angle of the drone's speed. Because it's your eyes while flying, you for sure want it to be looking where you're headed

Any idea why the frames stutter? Looks like a slow SD card to me but I’m not entirely certain!
Just RUclips's compression algorithm doing it's thing. No stutter on the actual footage👍

maybe a dumb question but can you use the remote controller in normal og sport mode or is it only in manual?
All modes. Remote controller can't be used together with the head tracking feature though. Maybe after a firmware upgrade from DJI? Head tracking wasn't mentioned in this video by the way.

Three modes are Normal at 18mph, Sport at 36mph, and Manual goes to 60mph🤯

You'll still be able to fly them, just won't be able to import them anymore. Buy them while you can.

The drone is incredible but the image quality is so ass.
I hate that the solution is adding weight by strapping a GoPro to these things.
In DLog-M, it's pretty damn good! I think it beats a GoPro strapped to the top. All of this footage was in Standard mode
