3:55 Internal memory is a life changer. I had many situations with corrupted memory card on my Avata drone and internal memory saved the day. It was paid project.
Reviewers like yourself deserve so much more praise and respect. I’m not much more than just a beginner, had a dji phantom 3 and loved it. That doesn’t mean I have any idea or true appreciation for these machines abilities. It’s been a few years and I was eager to get back into flying for personal pleasure as well as for work (in a farm field/tree farm every day, and having eyes ahead can help determine safe and unsafe areas). The company has a DJI AGRAS T50 for fertilizer spreading, and it made me want to get back into it, buuuut idk what’s good and what’s not for my level. Your review has brought comfort to the purchase as I’d be classified as a newbie with a fresh start. I always appreciate when creators aren’t afraid to be vocal about what can be changed for the better, and frankly DJI should thank you for the brute honesty. A lot of tool/welding companies actually supply their product for a raw review, and it makes the customers that much more appreciative of the company/creator/customer relationship. Cheers mate, got a follow from this guy! 🤙🏼
tha AGRAS t50 is a spray drone so therefor you do not need any goggles, the controller it has is basically an ipad and most of there spray drone lineup come with a thing that saves every field to the cloud so you can show up find that field layout and go. There was a highschool kid who took out a loan for one and paid it off in the first season and now is getting full profits.
Nice review, Brodie! Really like how you put this together. Great info 👏
Appreciate the review. I’ve been looking to get into FPV and it seems like a great time to get into it.
I couldn't agree more!
Absolutely really great video! I'm planning on buying the avata 2 and this video helped me TON.
Thank you soo much!
Great review bro, keep it coming
I bought the Avata 2 Fly More combo (3 battery) last week… but I’ve never owned a drone of any kind before, so I really am kind of the ideal buyer… and you’re correct. The Motion Controller 3 is so wildly instinctive and easy to use that I was honestly shocked. This thing is a truckload of fun to fly around my neighborhood.
Great and honest review 👍🏾
I just got it, and mainly because it’s compatible with my Mini 4 Pro. Now, since I’ve never flown FPV can use the 4 Pro’s obstacle avoidance whilst I learn the new controls, and get used to goggles! Kind of best of both worlds, and beats risking crashing my new Av-2! Great post!
Thank you for the review. This will be my first drone, I'm an old guy who wants to explore without having to leave my seat. Your video added additional confidence to my purchase.
Much appreciation and kindest regards.
Tip-- But the flyaway insurance.
I urge you when you can to get into one of the air series. They are night and day drones. I have an Air 3 and a avada two and love both. But the Air 3 is much more of a explorer type drone. The time and the air is much longer. It's very much more stable in Corsair. Etc
@@jamescloud85idk I feel like I’m so much more immersed flying FPV that it feels more worth it then to have to land more often or travel shorter distances
I truly appreciate the fact that you’re spending your own money just like I have to spend my own money when I purchase these drones, anytime, “they” don’t say up front that they purchased it themselves or the other story of how they were sent this to tested, but it doesn’t influence their review that’s BS and I immediately click away from those clowns, I automatically tag them as a shill for the manufacture, or they are auditioning to be a shill
If corporations cared about their products, you wouldn’t get so many bad reviews that’s why they target these RUclips influencers that will only talk nice about their product. You have earned a subscription from me. I just opened up the box on my Avata 2
I've never flown an FPV drone, only the non-FPV drones. FPV just looks SO fun. I just bought the fly more combo for the Avata 2 just now. So excited :)
Its great fun. I got the mini 4 Pro...avata 2 and Air 3...all can be used with the goggles and motion controler!
Yeah you definitely won't be sorry.
The Avata 2 is amazing! Love mine! Nice video thank you!
Brodie brother, thank you for frank and honest analysis! Outstanding video! Thankful new subscriber here. Cheers mate, from the States! 💛🇳🇿
Thanks for your genuine review.
Top Thanks for all the clearing , i have avata 1 Tomorow i get the Avata 2 , the only problem its i dident find the rc 3
thank you so much for your inbiased review! I got my DJI Avata (First Gen) last 2 weeks ago, I returned it due to yaw issue, I researched about this and yea, it's really an issue. Im hoping to get a test about this issue with this 2nd Gen of Avata before buying this. Thanks!
Timing is good, the review even better 👌😎
Watched every Avata 2 review and this is by far the best one. And yes all the others were sponsored to them. You mentioned a few questions I had that no other RUclipsr touched on. And what ticks me off is every single one I watched they where pushing the DJi care to purchase, of course told to them to say by DJI
All avata 2 review are a copy/paste mate.
Nice. Great review🎉
Dji ,especially this setup, near a perfect satisfyng product to buy. The livefeed very relaxing, so clear and fun to using, specially for me who already try avata 1 and playing fpv 4years, 🎉
Absolutely is a whole lot of fun!
Love the honesty, thank you...
Are you in fb marketplace
Nice review, I like people who actually commit to buying the product. It feels more genuine! 😊
As an old-school budget analog FPV guy that wanted to eventually get into digital fpv cinewhoops (but never had free time to build em) this improved Avata seems like the perfect choice. I think the lower overall cost, lots of improvements, and what seems like a far quieter flight makes me ready to pull the trigger. I might even like that weird motion controller...
The new controller for me is almost perfect since it works like a real control stick on an aircraft.
The only thing missing would be more advanced flight control functions with the small thumb stick.
Flying an aircraft with a full-hand control stick should be easier than using two small finger sticks.
@@javierguerrero1043 Growing up on flight sim games and having flown a small plane, I would agree that a joystick is natural and intuitive, but my point is there are already many RC plane and drone pilots (potential customers) that are already used to the traditional 2 stick controllers.
Good to see kiwi making review.. nice
U are great, tnx
I noticed your trophy in the background! I received the same exact one but blue and red for winning a golf tournament!
Great video mate! Got an og avata and will wait till compatibility haze clears. Lovely landscape, i live about 15mins away by a lake. 😂
Awesome review.
Thanks for sharing...nice..👍👍
Great review brother
Great Review !
When i first saw your channel i thought: "This guy must have 1-2 mil subs" beacuase of the video quality, and then i look, and see that you have 8 k. Your videos are way better than most people that have 100 - 500 K subs. The internet just have to discover your channel. Keep up the good work!
Btw: What would you prefer: The Aquila 16 or the Whooperfly 16 RTF?
(I have subed)
I don't know anything about the aquilla but I really enjoy my whoopfly16. You get 3 min or so on a 530 battery (I fly hard), it's really quick, and durable as hell. I had my own goggles and remote so I can't say anything about the kit it comes in. People who stick with the hobby usually say a lot of negative things about the RTF kits and recommend upgrading or skipping the kit and picking your own gear.
I aggree 100% with Alexander 🔥
Take it out of your mouth
I definitely don't like flying the Avata 1 around people because of the sound. Can't wait to hear the 2
Amazing bro! But can you change frame on dji avata 2 like on dji avata 1?
Great review & appreciate the neutral/non-sponsored aspect! Having bought the setup myself - I fully agree, the compability factor is surprising and pretty greedy. Rather surprising too considering they have more or less taken everything else they do in regards to marketing and not the least packaging, from Apple -> that do a lot to make sure everything in their eco-system is extremely compatible and intuitive...
Thank for youre honest review
Well made video.
I agree with you in terms of the compatibility issue as I have flown the AVATA 2 for a couple of days. It is not compatible with Googles 2/Integra nor the Vontroller 2. DJI has been having this problem with the Air 3.
Great video man! Compared to the DJI FPV, would you say this is worth upgrading to? I've had the DJI FPV for a while, but I'm still trying to decide whether to go for a new one or not. Thanks for your help!
Thanks for this review. I have all O3 hardware so I'll have to wait for that rumored update. My DJI FPV + Osmo 4 combo is doing great anyways. I would just like a more slimline, and likely slower :/, version of that and this would fit that bill.
Dji stated on Reddit they are working on compatibility. Once that happens i’ll more than likely buy the Avata 2 drone only. Maybe upgrade the other components in time but I’m still quite happy with the og Avata that I can wait
Thanks. It does have the sensors to avoid obstacles? can restert/fly after falling in water?
I just bought my first drone today. It’s the Avada 2 around the house, crashed it shredded some paperwork with the propellers I like it, but I wish they had a screen with a regular remote control
Thanks for this review. I think flips/rolls could be interesting to edit in if it’s in slomo, but indeed the 180 drift is the most interesting one.
Absolutely could be! Will be interesting to see if they add more in the future
What would you advise for beginners the remote control or the rc3 stick?
Yes sir brody!
Yessir
How about max ceiling above take off? Is the limit still 1600ft? Some mountain ridges are 2k feet above take off.
I saw a really cool video. 👍❤❤❤❤
After a firmware release today. As we speak actually. It's backwards compatible with the RC2, goggles to, and old FPV controllers. Oh yeah and also the Integra
Nice video
Were you able to test the durability and repairability?
I loves the Avata 1 because of destroyimg it and just change the changeable frames.
Is it the case with the Avata 2 as well?
Is it possible to do the easy acros while recording?
Hello Brodie. Something you might want to experiment with. Have you heard of the Goggles locking and dropping the signal to the Avata 2. It happened to me and I almost lost it when the drone was only 16m high and 165m away. Some others out there have reported the same experience.
How’s the new motion controller for Leftys with that dial on the side?
Does it do object tracking like the Mini 4 Pro? Thank you.
Love the review but unlike most I only have a M4P so I don’t have to worry about the compatibility issues haha 😂 but you did earn a new sub!!
The motion controller 2 is awesome. DJI could add easy acro to the avata 1 with a simple software update
Thanks for the review. So much on the fence with this one. If it was 100% true that Goggles 3 works with O3 and maybe even Vista, I'd buy this combo. I like the Avata2, but I want to be able to use those expensive Goggles 3 with all my other DJI VTX gear. I guess DJI promises or "should support in the future" are not quite good enough. Update: you have another new sub! Great review
👍 massive PSA to people new to this to fly with a visual observer for safety, and enhanced peripheral awareness. It’s wonderful technology, please keep the community and wildlife safe so we can continue having the liberty we have now!
can you fly DJI O3 drones with controller 3 and goggles 3?
Does this support mode 4? The last avata did not and there was no custom mode?
Thanks for the unbiased review, you covered all the points.
I was planning to get the Avata (v1) but now considering Avata 2. I do not have any custom built drones, so O3 dependency is not there in my case. This would be my first drone.
So for someone like me, would you recommend Avata 2 or Avata for a bit lesser price?
110% the Avata 2, I wouldn't recommend the original Avata to anyone now honestly, this is miles ahead
@@BrodieReed Thanks, I am getting it soon then!
I'd actually recommend getting a ELRS radio of your choice from Radiomaster (any of them are good, just pick one according to desired ergonomics and budget), and flying around in a sim like velocidrone. That way when you crash (and you will crash a lot) it costs nothing. Then go with a tiny whoop like a mobula or meteor.
i.imgur.com/QvvVtTO.png
The issue with the avata is when you crash, it will cost a lot to send to dji to fix, whereas with hobby-grade stuff you can swap the parts easily yourself.
Let’s go good Sire ❤
Hey pal, Does this have same issues as the previous Avata, bank hard turns and it suddenly falls out the sky?
Also go behind a tree or bush and it loses so much singal strength like the Avata 1?
ta pal
Thanks. I also see only improvements. There are many small improvements. I also got it yesterday and flew today. I don't know why the "warning" label was on this video. The only complaint seems to be O3 and O4 stuff. But if you looked at the specificataions before, it was clear that the googles 3 are not necessarily compatible with all O3 droneds.Already the leked specifrications were clear that one needs for example an an DJI mini air 4 for example and that it would not work with DJI mini Air 3. Also the critique that there is not yet immersed reality is a bit exaggerated. I prefer technology that works and is tested rather than cutting edge new features that do not work. I can imagine that more virtual reality features will be implemented later. The ability to tap and see your surroundings are really a great feature and alone already worth the upgrade.
Can you manually perform the rolls?
I'm disabled with only one hand, could this be for me? I'm completely drone noob and happy to spend if this controller is my way into the realm. Thanks for the review, I'm now subscribed.
This is the best review so far . Subbed
Legendary!
Have you seened Joshua Bardwells review? If not you should look him up. Mostly a FPV pilot/teacher.
thank you, if I was to get an fpv drone, i'd get this.
Still got the V1 goggles, black remote and Vista's....I am tempted though
Ya, the incompatibility deal is why I only fly DJI camera drones and won't use them for my fpv quads that I build myself using open source firmware for the radio and flight controller. I use Avatar for video and goggles and so far they've built backwards compatability into their gear, and make vtx's that will fit any size quad too, even tiny whoops. I also generally stay far far away from V1 firmware and let other folks help fix the niggles that come with it.
Thank you for the video! With o4 coming out on Avata 2. Should be expect for that camera to be available on the market soon? I planning to get into fpv with a rebuild drone, Should i wait for the O4 Unit integration or buy rebuild with O3? really value your opinion mate
I'd say wait for O4 honestly, it really will depend on the price of it of course, but I'd say the difference in quality (And the goggles 3) are certainly worth the wait if you can!
@@BrodieReed Thank you! Apeciate you opinions
I have the Goggles 2 and Remote 2
Will those link with the drone?
I need that video
That saves me money if I only have to get the drone and batteries
Answered at 9:40 😂 thanks
So basically they're going to milk the launch and once sales slow down they'll roll out an update for backwards compatibility to bump the sales of the drone and batteries again.
Smart play
thanks for this review! I would LOVE to know how you orbited without head tracking!
Just use the joystick and push to the side 😉
Another reviewer said that it does have head tracking while using the Joystick.
i wanna get one maybe. since this is over 249g this now needs to be registered and have RID. what do you use for RID unit or at all in your country? im in the USA and RID required law just was passed and in effect.
nice review thx for sharing - a linguist would have a field day trying to work out why so many ppl pronounce this brand as dgi lol
Being in the UK, I normally wait until we see reviews from European based flyers as they will have to fly in CE mode, which significantly limits the range in comparison with FCC mode. Whilst for conventional drones like the Mavic 3 and Mini series this is not an issue, for FPV drones having an adequate signal is key when flying around old buildings and wooded areas due to the potential signal loss. It would be useful when doing reviews to state where the aircraft is being flown and/or the mode it is being flown in.
We here in the EU almost everyone do immediately the fcc hack 😊
At the end you referred to another video - but there's no link?
Can you use external SD card?
Thanks for the video! Goggles 3 are compatible with Mini 4 Pro. How would you compare mini 4 pro vs avata 2 from FPV perspective assuming you don't want to do tricks on mini just flying and get FPV experience?
Same question with my mini3 fpv flymore combo
I agree on the rc3 topic. I might have been tempted to buy the avata2 if it would have been compatible to the rc2 that I already own. This is really stupid.
Now backwards compability is added for older googles and controllers. Unfortunately you can only use the fpv controller 2 with the goggles 2 and integra. Goggles 3 + controller 2 doesn't work:(
I use Avata 1 for Indoor flight I think Avata 2 is big and I don't like it what do you think?
Can you use meta quest 3 with the Avata 2?
FYI that goggle mounting system is based on the PlayStation VR, it's been like that since 2016 and it's very comfortable. Personally though the rubber gasket gives my skin rashes 😭
5:13 as someone who rushed out and bought an Avata i feel your pain,
i haven't flown my drone in MONTHS because of how damn annoying it sounds,
i really wish i'd waited until this year and got either the newest mini pro or the Avata 2.
My RC PRO Remote just updated tonight to include the AVATA 2. Don't waist your money on another remote.
8:25 Pass through is nice because a lot of legislation is being pushed to make pilots have a visual observer when flying fpv. It needs to be explored further
Did it ever update
Thumbs up for buying it yourself… that’s the way to do it!
Say you’ve never handled power tools without saying you’ve never handled power tools. lol good video.
Very good review, thank you. I would like to complete it with a criterion or perspective.
As I saw in another test, what counts most for a beginner is the level of mastery of the drone they can reach and the amount of time spent.
These are assumptions based on many videos I have watched about the Avata 2 before purchasing it. It's just that it's very expensive....
Let's assume that 100% is complete FPV mastery of this drone including manual sport flight and acrobatics. It is the physical limit of Avata 2.
Avata 2 with motion control piloted by a beginner: you will reach 50% of the maximum capacity of flying this Avata 2 in FPV (it would be 100%). That maybe after about 2 hours of flight.
After 4 additional hours the same beginner with motion control would master approximately 70% of 100%
After 10 additional hours with the motion controller and the Avata 2 and using all its options such as head tracking, sport modes and easy acro, among others, the same beginner will reach 75% or 80% of the 100% of the Avata 2.
After 14 hours with motion control, 10 hours in the simulator, 10 hours live with the controller with manual sticks, and about 20 falls and broken parts, the same beginner would reach 95% or almost 100%. If you have patience.
Then each person decides to what extent they want to master this hobby and this drone.
I imagine many beginners will be happy to reach 80% after 16 hours of flying.
I'm happy to reach 80% of the Avata 2 and that's why as soon as I saved up, I bought it.
It would be nice to have a good, more serious comparative study than what I wrote.
If you know of any, comment.
Googles work just fine with my old Mini 2. :)
They really need a foam option on the Goggles 3. I truly dislike that thin rubber with hard molded plastic behind it. Plus, they should have made the wrap a little longer than they did. The Goggles 3 is not comfort friendly with a slightly larger head. A strap over the top to help keep the goggles on when you lift them up would have been a nice touch and help spread more of the pressure around it. I also, had problems where I get a lot of smug effects on my goggles and found myself having to adjust them from time to time. Not that greatest fit.
The camera features and tech feature are very cool. Even seeing the display of your eye settings is pretty sweet. The camera's upfront are sweet, but not sure how much overtime I would be using them, because if someone walks up on me. Sure enough the drone is going to stop and I am going to just lift up my goggles more likely than just double tap to see them on my cams.
I have the Goggles 2 and I love them! I would like to see some of the changes I see on the goggles 3 regarding the software, but they fit better and aren't so tight on me, plus I like battery swapping when you need to.
I really do like the new Avata 2, but its going to take time to get more comfy with the Goggles 3, maybe a foam pad would make a big difference, I don't mind a little pressure around the eyes a bit in the exchange where it spreads out the pressure and feels less annoying overtime.
I guess we'll see? Thanks for the video!
How much does it cost for the set?
Compatibility is life. I DJI is not readily compatible with other products I will throw them overboard.
Does anyone think the DJI fpv controller 2 will work with the avata 2???
For beginners who love cinematic shot. Will avata 2 be enough or should I just get the mini 4 pro?
Get them both! That way you can get any kind of shot you want!
@@EvansNcube247365 im a little tight in budget tho
