I am a McLaren fan but this race showed how Max and RBR are operationally on a higher level. Mad respect to them and am still amazed on McLaren's progress considering they were way behind the field at this point last year. They need to get used to fighting at the front to properly challenge Max and RBR

Norris' bad start was more than made up for by his racing - to finish 20 seconds ahead of Russell who led at the start, and to be catching Verstappen at the rate he was despite having been held up for almost 20 laps was more than deserving of driver of the day. The RedBull was the quickest car this weekend as per F1's own data (see "What we learned from Friday Practice" with race pace analysis on their website).
I'm so angry they deliberately didn't show Max's first pitstop, which was INCREDIBLY quick - just under 1.9 seconds. I was afraid that they would've done a mistake changing tyres that quickly.
Russel being so defensive really took away from his time. He's not only taking a longer route, but he is minimizing his exit speed by adjusting his turning line. If he stayed in position, his best defense would be committing to the turn and having his opponent back out. will take his opponent a whole extra lap to retry that pass, rather than Russel getting passed on that turn or the next. Great racing Russel and Mercedes, but let's see a lighter car and a heavier set of lugNuts if you know what i mean! 🏁🏆
I think it's largely down to the comeback driving after the botched first turn, he managed to fight back to 2nd and seemed to close the gap on Max quite well, if only there were a few more laps. I don't think he would've overtaken him but if he put up a battle like he did against Russell, it would've been great to see!

Russel being so defensive really took away from his time. He's not only taking a longer route, but he is minimizing his exit speed by adjusting his turning line. If he stayed in position, his best defense would be committing to the turn and having his opponent back out. will take his opponent a whole extra lap to retry that pass, rather than Russel getting passed on that turn or the next. Great racing Russel and Mercedes, but let's see a lighter car and a heavier set of lugNuts if you know what i mean! 🏁🏆

I think it's largely down to the comeback driving after the botched first turn, he managed to fight back to 2nd and seemed to close the gap on Max quite well, if only there were a few more laps. I don't think he would've overtaken him but if he put up a battle like he did against Russell, it would've been great to see!
@@Duval-In-The-Wall Verstappen put a move on both Lando AND Russel within the first two laps. And won the race in the 3rd fastest car. Now that is racing. But Max is not British ... so that is why he is not DOTD.

George's brilliant start ironically ruined a tight race in the end. He bought Max so much time in front by holding Lando back. That Mclaren is fast.
The end was tight. He was right behind within 2 seconds. All that did was give enough space for Max so did not get overtaken right away by a faster Mclaren.
That start reminds me of verstappen in Mexico 2021

Russell was the highlight of the day. Every battle around him either lando or lewis made this one of the best race this season

This race was awesome, seeing Max happy brings me joy as he is healing all those childhood traumas. NOR and HAM on podium is pure joy for me and that fight between RUS and NOR ❤❤❤ to die for

People like to say things like "X guy drove well in his tractor". Max definitely doesn't have a tractor, but he is making that car look alot better than what it really is. Perez is about where the car should be for his skill level. Which is the 8th or 9th best on the grid. ❤
