I completely agree! H.G. Wells really had a unique ability to capture the essence of human nature and the complexities of society in such a simple yet profound way. What do you think makes his stories still so relevant today, even though they were written so long ago?

It’s fascinating, isn’t it? The way early sci-fi like this delved into biology and the natural world more deeply than the tech-driven narratives we see today. It makes you wonder-what do you think caused that shift in focus? Was it the rapid technological advancements of the 20th century, or something else entirely?

Originally it was to highlight the different parts of language (nouns, verbs, etc.) for general interest and for non-native English listeners. However, I ditched it after a few videos because it didn't really have the desired effect and only made it harder to read. So now all the videos just have simple white text.

I enjoy your work and you narrate with excellent tone and affect. Would you consider a location that would render less of an “echo” for your reading? I am hoping you will find this feedback helpful.

Thanks for saying so. These stories were recorded quite a while ago - now I have improved my setup to avoid too much reverb from the room. It's not perfect yet, but more recent stories are less echo-ey. Hopefully at some point I'll have a new space and setup for even better quality. Thanks again!

While there are various movies based on it, our favorite: 1960 film “The Time Machine.”

I was thinking much the same thing. He truly “saw the future” before its time. The description of a petrol-driven, fixed-wing, propeller (screw) aeroplane was years ahead of its time! Maybe he did have a Time Machine! 😉
Very well read short stories that put feeling into the narrative.
