I think Keane and Neville found management hard because they were used to having high standards placed upon them and fulfilling those standards with the knowledge that hard work gets results, whereas going into management with underperforming teams where the discipline is not a standard is considerably harder.

Probably today he would be used as a right-sided centre-back in a back 3 as I don't think his defensive qualities would be appreciated at right-back, considering what managers often look for in attacking full-backs or wing-backs right now; he was quite versatile too and could play on the left or in the centre if need be.

I understand when they say he was not technically gifted. He was no dribbler like Ashley Cole or Roberto Carlos. However, he is one of the best crossers of the ball I've ever seen. Maybe even the best crosses I've seen from a fullback.
Irwin on the other side was the same. Fantastic crossers, not lightening quick but we're clever players working for space to cross with their wingers, and both brilliant defenders.
It’s hard for people like Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Frank Lampard & Steven Gerrard to be managers because they expect their players to have the same passion, dedication and discipline as them. But most of the current generation of footballers are just there for the money so that they can splash and flash on social media. Football is an afterthought for the current generation of footballers.
Damn the class of 92 was something else, at the moment our current youth academy seems to be looking really great again, honestly one of the reasons I'm ten hag in, if you look at Fergie he would've been sacked before actually winning anything, these things take time, look at Arsenal with Arteta, he took them out of the banter era to being competitive again by being allowed to remove deadwood
When fit, 1st choice right back for England for most of his career. Very good crosser, great sense of defensive positioning that made up for lack of pace. Vocal and a leader on the pitch. He was never world class like Cafu or Zanetti but was certainly a very good right back, and the best English right back of his generation
Gary Neville wouldn’t go for any amount of money in today’s transfer market because he’d stay at Man Utd for his whole career. He loved Utd, that’s what made him a top class player. Not tenacity. Not resilience. Love.
I hope a few of today's yoof have the same never leave attitude. You get the impression Rashford wouldn't wanna play anywhere else. Let's hope he doesn't.
I never highly rated G. Nev until I saw him play live at Old trafford and saw his work rate and commitment off the ball, the stuff you don't really see on tv.
One of Englands greatest ever players! Got onto the england side before Scholes and becks coz he dead so good. Hard to find a better player then Gary the Neville. Him and roberto Carlos were so similar and I can’t believe Gary never got even close to a ballpark dor with the amounts of crosses and assists he did. A leader as well and when he talked the players listened coz of his rage and will to win! The boss of the class of 92! Could play anywhere and would of loved to see him as a striker but he was just to good in his position
G Nev genuinely has better two footed crosses than the majority of players today. Tech on it is actually one of his best qualities he had outside of his workrate.
“Bullied” is that what the youth call banter? They are mates and clearly comfortable taking the piss out of each other . Where I’m from that is a sign of being good mates. How else do you tell someone you are happy with your friendship without insulting them? There not your girlfriend so you don’t have to be open with your feelings dude
it's interesting to see this type of content about defenders as well as prolific goalscorers - perhaps you could do one on gareth southgate as a player?
Consistent is the worst attribute that I can associate with Gary. Could go forward and could defend, could deliver some pretty decent crosses and had a great understanding with Beckham with the overlaps. Could be beaten by some very skilled forwards, and I remember his clashes against Henry and Pires where sometimes he looked lost and would get berated by Keano. But a cornerstone in the Manchester United dominance for atleast 12 years
Fair enough. He did run into problems with Overmars on a few occasions too, I remember. To be fair, Viera and co specifically targeted him in matches against Arsenal back in the day.
I've come to know him only from punditry and he can be so self-deprecating and his peers seem to love to needle him that it's genuinely difficult to assess how good he was from his interactions with others.
I couldn’t understand the ratings of Neville. But now I understand and respect him more. Neville played in a time where stats of assist, goals, pass accuracy and other fancy stats didn’t define a player like nowadays. The only thing that matters was winning. Thats why you wont see a RB and RM/RW switch between the roles of defending and attacking, like Neville and Beckham did. Still this being said, I would still pick Kyle Walker in RB position, in my Premier League All time XI.
In my opinion he optimized man Utds continued fighting spirit unfortunately he was underrated bcoz of Dennis Irwin, by no means a bad player but as this video showed his humility in his own abilities pushed him to achieve in a side with amazing talent a fierce man Utd supporter and a living meme let's be honest no man u supporter complains when he trolls Liverpool, however the where's Gary Neville video as much as I was disappointed Liverpool won the league had me in stiches

However, he is one of the best crossers of the ball I've ever seen. Maybe even the best crosses I've seen from a fullback.
Irwin on the other side was the same. Fantastic crossers, not lightening quick but we're clever players working for space to cross with their wingers, and both brilliant defenders.
That right side with him and Beckham could wreck anyone and cope with anyone.
Massively underrated simply one of the best of his generation
It’s hard for people like Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Frank Lampard & Steven Gerrard to be managers because they expect their players to have the same passion, dedication and discipline as them. But most of the current generation of footballers are just there for the money so that they can splash and flash on social media. Football is an afterthought for the current generation of footballers.
This is actually a really good video
do one of these on Giggs mate!
It's on the list!
Best left winger to play in premier league
@@DonnyRP nope
Love your vids man. Excellent work. My only tip would be to invest in higher sound quality ‘mic’. Then this channel will soar. ✊🏾
Thanks, really appreciate the feedback!. Currently looking into a better mic as we speak!
U deserve so many more subs and views Jesus Christ
Haha, thanks man. Fingers crossed!
he is too fooking modest on tv and social media but deep down, Gary himself and all of us know what he really was ❤
Please cover the all the players from the 1999 treble winning side and the 07/08 United side
They're all on the list!
He is a legend like few, an idol for future footballers. Underrated channel, i love your work man keep it up!
Keep up d good work mate
Thanks man, will do!
His passion for United and his country was unmatachable
Mr Reliable Gary Neville .Keep up the great content.
When fit, 1st choice right back for England for most of his career. Very good crosser, great sense of defensive positioning that made up for lack of pace. Vocal and a leader on the pitch. He was never world class like Cafu or Zanetti but was certainly a very good right back, and the best English right back of his generation
Gary was basically the Senapi of any sport anime who's in the team because he has will power and Is like a leader.
Great video you deserve way more subs!
It wont be long before this channel blows up
I never highly rated G. Nev until I saw him play live at Old trafford and saw his work rate and commitment off the ball, the stuff you don't really see on tv.
Amazing job mate keep them coming
How many accolades do we give all the man u greats Gary to date best ever right back the premier League has seen
Great channel!
Gary neville is one of the best rights back's of all time
not even the good enough for the best mufc xl ever
He’d definitely be in the all time premier squad. Massively underrated
Wish we'd had a player like that at Forest. Neville was absolute quality
When you have great midfielders, superstar players and veterans in your team, but had your right back as the captain, you know he’s the real deal.
Great video man your channel will go far :DD
G Nev genuinely has better two footed crosses than the majority of players today. Tech on it is actually one of his best qualities he had outside of his workrate.
“Bullied” is that what the youth call banter? They are mates and clearly comfortable taking the piss out of each other .
Where I’m from that is a sign of being good mates.
How else do you tell someone you are happy with your friendship without insulting them? There not your girlfriend so you don’t have to be open with your feelings dude
Spot on.
I think he was using the word bullied sarcastically.
Great channel man, stumbled upon the Roy Keane vid. Keep this stuff up💪🏽.
Perfect ferguson player, honest hard working team player, all teams needs that energy.. you can't win with 11 superstar at the same time
Love Gary Neville, always have always will.
Nice channel, man! Keep it up.
UN-BE-LIEVEABLE
it's interesting to see this type of content about defenders as well as prolific goalscorers - perhaps you could do one on gareth southgate as a player?
Great Content!
To be fair, Viera and co specifically targeted him in matches against Arsenal back in the day.
hope you get more views, nice channel
Probably the greatest Right Back in Manchester United’s History and the Premier League plus England’s National Team
One of the Best, if not the best RB in prem history (I'm a Villa fan)
I've come to know him only from punditry and he can be so self-deprecating and his peers seem to love to needle him that it's genuinely difficult to assess how good he was from his interactions with others.
Nobody is talking about how good his crossing was!
3rd most underrated Crosser I have ever seen after Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo
Great video
I'm gonna like this channel, I can tell.
Best content on RUclips ❤️👊🏽 you deserve more subs bro 😎 keep going I am sure you’ll hit 1M subs inshallah 💯
Hard work🔥🔥
Best right back ever
Living legend Gary nevile💪
In my opinion he optimized man Utds continued fighting spirit unfortunately he was underrated bcoz of Dennis Irwin, by no means a bad player but as this video showed his humility in his own abilities pushed him to achieve in a side with amazing talent a fierce man Utd supporter and a living meme let's be honest no man u supporter complains when he trolls Liverpool, however the where's Gary Neville video as much as I was disappointed Liverpool won the league had me in stiches
Gary is slowly becoming a company man
Gary was appointed at Valencia because he is friends with the Valencia owner, who has invested in his hotel business.
Lol, that was hilarious to watch
Love your content. Please do a video about Henry, Rafa Márquez
i think Gary Neville is very underrated
