His hips, groins, and back got fucked due to carrying Liverpool all those years. I remember he was playing on pain injections before matches around 2010ish because the club was such a mess without him. His gait changed slightly when he came back from injury riddled 2010-2011-2012 years. Had to reinvent his game completely and became a deeplying playmaker like Pirlo/Alonso.

Stevie is one of those players who could walk into any team in any generation, such ability, so professional & humble, carries himself so well, how can you not love Stevie G!?
Also, his ability to do everything at an elite level and play most positions. And be the captain, the talisman and the leader. Super valuable starting player to build around.
That England generation of midfielders was legendary. I honestly can't pick one over the other.
Stevie was my huge idol when I was a kid!!
I'm a Manchester Red, season ticket holder since 68 and this guy Gerrard is the best opposition player I've ever seen, absolute world class, could grace any team from any era, even better than Kenny and believe me he was amazing, good interview Steve and I really do wish him all the best, shame he wasn't in his prime under klopp, carried Liverpool at times like Robson carried us in the 80's..
Shame enough most of this new generation don't know of Brian Robson...
And I'm saying tjis as a staunch supporter of Liverpool ever since I was an embryo

I think it is common consensus that Henry is and has been the greatest PL player. Only some Utd fans push the Ronaldo talk when Ronaldo's peak came at Real Madrid.
Yeah Henry was the one. For my money, Gerrard is 2nd in that list. KDB though… if he keeps accumulating silverware (and wins the CL…), he might be the GOAT

Gary is superb at this format. Love Gerard's openness and his respect for players no matter what team they were on. A shining example of how football, or any sport, should be represented.
Amazing to watch childhood heroes (who were bitter rivals) having a conversation about life and career
Its one of the beauties of them all becoming pundits, these guys are not only top players but have a huge amount of respect fir each other too… certainly lends itself to interviews

Suarez single handed lay almost won Liverpool the league…torress was great but he was not on Suarez level. Lfc should’ve won the league that year once they beat city but dumb &ss Rodgers went for the win against Chelsea instead of just taking the draw..Stevie a slip had nothing to do with losing the league it’s really only 1% of why they lost …plus having a shite keeper that year didn’t help lfc
One of the greatest to never lift a premier league winners medal. Even Leicester City and Blackburn players have lifted it.

Liverpool's Shearer. How can you not love Stevie G. He was an amazing footballer, probably the most complete midfielder of all time and that's quite a claim, but he really did everything you would want in midfielder to the highest level. Had zero weaknesses as well as sacrificing his personal accolades for his hometown club and seems like a top bloke 👏
Wasn’t a nephew or cousin of his one of the 97 that died in the Hillsborough tragedy of 1989? I thought I read a couple of stories about that….?

He still had a healthy looking trophy cabinet and I always remember him being considered among the best. Two Champions league finals - winning one, Treble of UEFA Cup, league cup and FA Cup, another FA Cup and league cup, not bad at all. Shearer did win the premier league at least, which is great.
Not just a complete midfielder, total footballer. He is actually a guy you could place anywhere on the pitch. I remember Keane and Carragher remembering in awe about how Gerrard carried Liverpool on his shoulders against powerhouse Milan. First in midfield. Then when Milan goes 3 goals up, Gerrard is put into forward position, absolutely runs the game from there, then Liverpool have equalized he is put into defense at right back to see the game through.
The guy was mad.
Neville has nailed this - he’s such a good interviewer.
As an England fan I think we took the likes of Gerrard for granted. You look back now and realise what a megastar player he was. For me the best CM of his generation!!!!

When Gerrard was saying he's fascinated by crime programmes and says "I don't know where it's come from" it looks like Gary is doing everything in his power to not say "Is that coz you're from Liverpool?"

Im a united fan so years ago used to give gerrard a lot of grief but since retiring and becoming a manager the respect ive gained
for him is unreal, the way he talks in press conferences about his players, the game and even the praise he gives his opposition is amazing. i

Our Captain Fantastic! Growing up and watched him playing at Liverpool was everything for me. Sometimes i missed the old day where he just strike the ball with his amazing long shot. I wished him well at Villa.
That goal against olympiakos will live in infamy especially the commentary from Tyler and grey “ lovely cushion header , for GERRRRRRARRRRRRRRDDDDD…I don’t need to speak, let the pictures do the talking” that goal eventually got them to the UCL final they ended up coming back and winning the single greatest UCL comeback maybe greatest game comeback ever 3 Nil down to AC Milan the best in the world at the time… but also the FA cup final 2006 strike to equalize it in the 90th min

champions league final against AC Milan 3-0 down, the way Steven Gerrard lifted the whole team and the crowd after scoring the first comeback goal still gives me goosebumps to this day when I watch it.

Class. He didn’t used any of the questions to take a cheap shot at any rival clubs or players. He was respectful to White hart lane, Ronaldo and even the class on Man Utd 92. This is refreshing.
Wayne Rooney as the funniest player Steven ever played with came as a REAL shocker to me. Love to learn stuff like that. United fan for 20 years, but Rooney never struck me as a joker. Love to hear it.

As a Liverpool fan and Rangers supporter Gerrard has gave me so many good times over the years. Proper Football person with working class values with incredible talent and determination, sorry to see him leave Rangers but he left with my blessing and I hope he gets to the very top In management.
Will always be one of the greatest Liverpool players ever for me. Heartbroken he never got the league title but he set the standard for loyalty to his club.
