Who would have believed those 4 men would provide us with so much entertainment and knowledge of the game. I respect everyone of those men and like to hear their opinions and debates and you can tell they are good mates off camera. There is still only 1 ROY KEANE though haha.
Keane has sort of been rebranded in hindsight as this no nonsense, hard man midfielder. I mean he was that but he was an excellent technical football player. People forget just how good he was. An excellent passer of the ball. Always forward, always quick. Brilliant football brain. In his prime he was one of the best midfield players in the world.
I think because Scholsey was the better passer, Keane was sort of relegated to being the defensive midfielder. He still made runs forward and could finish as well.

Gerrard always dragged Liverpool by the scruff of the neck over the finish line. The match that comes to mind was in the 07/08 season when Liverpool were struggling against Derby County of all people, Gerrard managed to get a goal in the 90th minute to snatch the win. If it wasn't for his input then Liverpool would've been bouncing about 6th-8th place for years on end.
The fact he needed to shows his lack of tactical awarenes. When your best midfielder is just legging it around the pitch chasing the ball like a 10 year old and listening to the fans yelling 'shooooot', whacking the ball as hard as he can you will need to be dragged to victory Watching Gerrard trying to to reinvent himself as some scouse scholes / pirlo was hilarious. Like a doberman trying to learn how to play chess His slip against Chelsea is Gerrard all over: if it didn't involve putting his foot either through the ball or an opponent he was out of his depth
This makes you realise that a "Keane and Carragher" duo make an even better partnership than "Neville and Carragher". Sky need to try out this pairing more often, they have a great natural chemistry with one another.
Carra's like the son Keane never wanted but ended up caring for anyway. Probably helps too that Jamie's physically-tough and aggressive and knowledgeable, something Roy can respect.
@@mcbc4 I didn't expect this as well, I thought he would be dumb and too loyal to the club (A bit like Neville), but so far he's been doing a good job and not afraid to speak his mind even regarding to liverpool.
I literally live for off the cuff, informal setting type Roy Keane interviews/conversations. I've always adored him as a player but Christ the man is humble, reflective and insightful (almost shy if you've seen him and Neville on their walk!!!) and you'd never marry that to the snarling hard man he was on the pitch. Absolutely TOP man. . .
Well like Rio says he’d be really quiet in the dressing room reading a book relaxed but then when they got out there he became a different person and Rio couldn’t understand it ! Greatest player
11:20-12:45 - Carragher is spot on and this why Sir Alex will always go down as the GOAT. Won the European Cup winners cup with Aberdeen. Re-built United as a club from scratch, then went on to build 4 different trophy winning United teams. If he got beat by a new style of play by Wenger or Mourinho - Sir Alex adapted his tactics and won the war overall. If Pep had come to the PL earlier and let’s say won the first couple of league titles like Jose/Wenger did - Sir Alex would have adapted his team and beaten Pep just like he did against Jose. And this is proved in the fact that he did it vs Wenger Mourinho Benitez Ancelotti Mancini. This is what makes him the GOAT.
@@theherogothamneeds1014 Pep's style of play was new at the time in 2009. Same way Jose's was in 2004. Sir Alex adapted every single time. I'm sure if he got the chance to play Pep again in the Premier League he would have adapted and beaten Pep. Ole beat Pep 4 times.
Rangers are in a final to win same as Aberdeen, it's not that busy g a deal as to be evidence of the greatest of all time, he won nothing in his first 5 years which is frankly awful when he moved to the richest club in the world who are already a top team in the top division and only won 2 CL in 30 years of management, these things instantly take him out of the running as the greatest. Good but not greatest, many managers would do what he did at Utd with the money and time he was given.
Completely agree with Roy here, City vs Liverpool is the greatest competition for the Premier League trophy we've ever seen but they are far from rivals. United vs Arsenal and United vs Liverpool are still the biggest blockbuster rivalries that ever happened in the Prem.
To say City and Liverpool have the best rivalry in premier league history is ridiculous. They’re the best 2 teams yes but as an actual rivalry there’s not much there. Like Roy said, they’re nice and hugging after the game. Best rivalry is United/Arsenal easily
Why does hatred have to be such a pre requisite to constitute a rivalry? Just because the players aren’t breaking eachothers legs and the fans aren’t fighting in the stands doesn’t mean it’s not a great rivalry, for me it’s respect and the quality of football and these two teams are beginning to show that perfectly
Man I could listen to these 2 for hours, It's amazing listening to how much the culture of English football has changed. It's almost become very refined and civilised from quite a barbaric/rough around the edges beggining and listening to the stories of very old very real rivalries and attitudes is so intriguing.
Actually dislike just how often Roy puts Gary down as a player. She she wasn't a true great. But Roy bangs on about loyalty with the team yet feel how shit it makes Gary feel every time roy underlay his role in uniteds dominant period.
Yeh defo, i also think that sentiment is mutual as they both have a similar fierce mentality towards the game which is why Roy picked Carra in the "who would you pick in the dugout" question, also Carra's football knowledge is second to none, proper footy anorack.
I think this is from Keane's changing room POV. From comments made by the class of 92 lot, Eric Harrison and Fergie - "Uncle Gary" was always this sort of busy body, tackling grievances, 'can talk for England' type character
What a fantastic episode! Calm and sensible discussions, acknowledging the skill and impact of other Legends and just an overall friendly vibe between two people who were at each other’s throat 20 years ago. Well done Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane 👏.
That's genuinely the first time I've seen/heard Keano laugh! He's so serious on Super Sunday and was as a player. But the banter between these pundits is pure gold. Just hope Sky don't mess it up like they did with Soccer Saturday.
Jeez I love these when two people can actually have conversations and one of them not yelling back at the other one trying to prove their point, this was awesome!
Part of the reason he is the best captain in PL history is his humbleness as displayed perfectly here. No cockiness or over confidence even now when he’s long retired.
Keanes words on him being the best captain in premier league history, for me shows why he is the best captain in premier league history. Never let trophies and titles get to his head, never saw himself as better then his team, setting examples for veterans and youngsters alike
Roy shows more humility and balance in his answers than so many of the fans who do this sort of thing. People look over him being quite a principled and intelligent person.
Very well said,i like his attitude and must say as a liverpool fan over 30 years if he would in that utd dressing room now they would all be very scared lol
I love the fact these two get along. Always thought Keane would have a dislike for Carra because he was a liverpool legend but you can tell Keane has a lot of respect for him. Legends
Stevie G would take a smaller team and drag them through. Scholes was like the cherry on top of an already top team and make them elite. Part of a team that controlled games. Scholes would play I'm this City team whereas Gerrard would play in this Liverpool team based on how both teams play.
Different types of players mainly due to their physical attributes. Scholes should be compared to players like modric and xavi as he was that type of cm. Gerrard played rm cm and am in his career. Diff types of players.
@@Keysersoze786 but I think Gerrard could easily play in Scholes role. Of the three, he's probably the more well rounded. I remember him playing playing almost like a regista when the almost won the title with Rodgers and would say he was quite good at it. This was brilliant got to agree with Keane on the rivalry thing would definitely like to see a bit more aggression between Liverpool & Man City but I guess the game has changed
@@lfcgero35 Still a very very good team he put out. The top of the pitch should have still been immense. Liverpool just blew them out of the water for most of the game

Roy Keane was the greatest captain in Premier League history because he had a huge impact on the players. He had to be listened to by Nistelroy and Beckham and Giggs and all the other big names at the time.Who else can achieve something like that in his career..Keans was the last after Ferguson
I would take the Manchester United/Arsenal rivalry of the early 2000's because of the beautiful football both teams played. There was such a high intensity and pace to some of those games that seems to be lacking in the more recent rivalries.
Gotta love how loyal but honest Keane is. When he realised he was supposed to argue his point of view, he just went yeah I gotta back my boy. Carra doesn’t back his boy for captain😢
what roy said bout “not wanting to let the managers down” is the United DNA that the current united players rn aside from players who thrived under fergie does not possess. and that’s why we’re so embarrassing for the past decade
In terms of two teams at the highest quality City/Liverpool is amazing. In terms of two teams with amazing quality but fierce rivalry nothing beats United/Arsenal. Liverpool/United is a different thing altogether. That’s the two most successful teams having rivalry because you don’t want another team to be more successful.
No time for utd, but got to tip my hat for Keane, so honest even when utd are now not at their best... no bitterness just honesty. Top player and captain. Respect were it's due. YNWA
Liverpool fan here but I gotta say United Arsenal late 90s to mid 2000s was the best pl rivarly. Passion, intensity, hatred etc. It's like they were going out for war each time. With Liverpool and City, it's just that both team get an absurd amount of points nowadays.
Love Roy, one of my all time heroes. But his loyalty is his biggest strength and weakness. Can't discuss Fergie objectively. Whereas Jamie can. There will never be more perfectly matched combination than Fergie and Keano. Deputy and General. And neither would have achieved all that they did without the other.
Maybe but I think fergie would have dominated without Keane. No one ever mentions Keane when talking about best midfielder. It's always Scholes Gerrard etc. I rate Keane and I'm a Liverpool fan
On the Scholes question, United was struggling after he retired and Fergie got him back after 6months out and he made a big impact even at that age. I'd say he would have done the same in his prime at Liverpool. Also on Ronaldo, at 37 he has 21 goals and a couple of hatricks. The rest of the team has been poor, if he actually got good service and others contributed, he would have had alot more. What he has got has been pretty much done single handedly.
He would've taken Liverpool to a different level... Gerrard was a moments player and they had moments that they wouldn't change for anything...but Scholes would've taken them consistently to a new level would've won them multiple titles. Put Scholes in that 2014 team with Suarez and Rodgers as manager they win the league and it wouldn't even be close
Why lie? Scholes has said himself many times that it was a big mistake coming back out of retirement and that he was miles off it and couldn’t keep up with the fast players etc
@@connorbanks5644 lie? That was his modest way of talking about himself lol. As he always does. The stats don't lie. He came back and made an impact and we was better off for it.
Scholes and Gerrard had diff roles though so not sure why anyone compare them
@@Keysersoze786 Talking about an all round midfielder.
The fact he needed to shows his lack of tactical awarenes.
When your best midfielder is just legging it around the pitch chasing the ball like a 10 year old and listening to the fans yelling 'shooooot', whacking the ball as hard as he can you will need to be dragged to victory
Watching Gerrard trying to to reinvent himself as some scouse scholes / pirlo was hilarious. Like a doberman trying to learn how to play chess
His slip against Chelsea is Gerrard all over: if it didn't involve putting his foot either through the ball or an opponent he was out of his depth
Another that comes to mind was the match against crystal palace

This makes you realise that a "Keane and Carragher" duo make an even better partnership than "Neville and Carragher". Sky need to try out this pairing more often, they have a great natural chemistry with one another.
Carra's like the son Keane never wanted but ended up caring for anyway. Probably helps too that Jamie's physically-tough and aggressive and knowledgeable, something Roy can respect.
Nah it will be echo chamber, these two got to many similiarities, their banter gonna grow old fast
When carra and keane meet its more of bantering Neville than the actual chat 😂
u'll be slaughtered by ur owns for saying this
Roy clearly in a grand mood for this:)) he’s smiling from the beginning:))
I love how Jamie always brings the best out of his fellow pundits and even makes Roy crack and laugh
It's just Liverpool thing.. he's good at cracking jokes.
Jamie has been a breathe of fresh air, adds value and is a thoughtful pundit. Coming from a United fan I'd never every think I'd say that about him.

It's not old school. It's good school. Well said Roy.
This is their best episode so far, in my opinion, to be honest.
Absolutely TOP man. . .
Literally?
Keane still holding grudges on fergie that’s the only reason he disagreed
Ferguson lost twice to pep in 2 champions League finals....So I don't agree on adapting and beating him
@@theherogothamneeds1014 Pep's style of play was new at the time in 2009. Same way Jose's was in 2004. Sir Alex adapted every single time. I'm sure if he got the chance to play Pep again in the Premier League he would have adapted and beaten Pep. Ole beat Pep 4 times.
@@shahzadirani and in 2011 his players are not as good as they used to be
Rangers are in a final to win same as Aberdeen, it's not that busy g a deal as to be evidence of the greatest of all time, he won nothing in his first 5 years which is frankly awful when he moved to the richest club in the world who are already a top team in the top division and only won 2 CL in 30 years of management, these things instantly take him out of the running as the greatest.
Just because the players aren’t breaking eachothers legs and the fans aren’t fighting in the stands doesn’t mean it’s not a great rivalry, for me it’s respect and the quality of football and these two teams are beginning to show that perfectly
i have to agree utd and arsenal easliy wins in rivalry terms. Even utd v liverpool has more rivalry especially over a much longer period of time too.
Biggest rivalry in the prem is Man United vs Liverpool easily. It runs deeper than football. Arsenal don't even come close
Who gives a fuckkkk
Even United/MourinhoChelsea rivalry is bigger than this lol. They were passing the titles between them each 1/2 years it’s mad.
Man I could listen to these 2 for hours, It's amazing listening to how much the culture of English football has changed. It's almost become very refined and civilised from quite a barbaric/rough around the edges beggining and listening to the stories of very old very real rivalries and attitudes is so intriguing.
Last question about Gary Neville😂😂😂😂
“he’s lacking something obviously”
“Sleep”
“Your a fullback stay in your lane” made me crack up a bit
Actually dislike just how often Roy puts Gary down as a player. She she wasn't a true great. But Roy bangs on about loyalty with the team yet feel how shit it makes Gary feel every time roy underlay his role in uniteds dominant period.

You can see the respect in Carragher eyes still to this day. A fear/respect for his rival.
Yeh defo, i also think that sentiment is mutual as they both have a similar fierce mentality towards the game which is why Roy picked Carra in the "who would you pick in the dugout" question, also Carra's football knowledge is second to none, proper footy anorack.
Damn Gary from being a quiet boy at Utd to doing so many things, travelling and knowledge about so many things. What a transformation

I love seeing Keane in this relaxed tone where he’s not argumentative and the opinions are shared freely and accepted by both parties.
Yeah no Micah Richard laughing his ass off like a muppet
Jeez I love these when two people can actually have conversations and one of them not yelling back at the other one trying to prove their point, this was awesome!
Part of the reason he is the best captain in PL history is his humbleness as displayed perfectly here. No cockiness or over confidence even now when he’s long retired.
Keanes words on him being the best captain in premier league history, for me shows why he is the best captain in premier league history. Never let trophies and titles get to his head, never saw himself as better then his team, setting examples for veterans and youngsters alike
I'm a Liverpool fan all my life but you can't help but love keano he's a character 🤣

Love to see Carra being reasonable here tbh. I'm a United but seeing him respect Keane and talks about his leadership and even respect SAF. Respect 👏👌
Carra generally gives non bias opinions, he respects quality players & football over club & teammates
Roy Keane was the greatest captain in Premier League history because he had a huge impact on the players. He had to be listened to by Nistelroy and Beckham and Giggs and all the other big names at the time.Who else can achieve something like that in his career..Keans was the last after Ferguson
These two are soo much more similar... 😂😂 hell it's almost poetic they both are good friends with Gary 😂
I would take the Manchester United/Arsenal rivalry of the early 2000's because of the beautiful football both teams played. There was such a high intensity and pace to some of those games that seems to be lacking in the more recent rivalries.
Not to mention OG Old Trafford and Highbury.
I’m a Liverpool fan but Arsenal united was a proper rivalry breaking each other up 🔥
Best one yet! "your a full back, stay in your lane" 😂😂
In their playing days, Roy and Vieira had such a drive that will be very difficult to replicate in modern day football.

Liverpool/United is a different thing altogether. That’s the two most successful teams having rivalry because you don’t want another team to be more successful.

What a discussion. Would love to hear these legends non stop.
Roy Keane smiling and being chill is somewhat funny. I`ve never seen the man have a good time before.
Never get bored when these two face to face 😂
