@@irenehausammann2393 they are obviously there to be touched. Just don’t touch their reigns. If they weren’t allowed to be touched the gaurds would let ppl know trust me.
My lord, how could there ever be a better example of the "Guard" than this gorgeous horse, with a uniquely kind and gentle personality!!!! Beautiful and gentle!!!!!
This horse is clearly very comfortable interacting with people and it confidently expects to be kindly treated. That speaks well of the treatment it receives from the Troopers who look after it.
@Melania MoneyPenny I stand to be corrected, but I don’t think the Household Cavalry AT THE MOMENT have women performing mounted public duties in London. They do have women serving in other roles in the Regiment, but not doing what this Trooper of the Life Guards is doing. Assuming I am correct, that situation will inevitably change at some point in the future.
What a lovely patient horse. He loves the attention & likes getting patted. He was so good: just standing there & moving his head around. It helps him not to be bored & makes his day more interesting.
I wasnt going to say the same thing! He appeared to like the children especially. But I do wonder at people’s assumption that regardless of the sign on the wall that they are free to just do this.
Remember horses cannot see straight on , they have side vision, that’s why he’s so inquisitive, his Queen’s Guard must take such good care, notice the Queen’s Guard is using situational awareness for any threats.
there are signs right there not to get close to the horses as they can bite or step forward. obviously all these people do not read English. I think the rider was being overly patient. too many people allowing very young children close to the horses mouth..if the child was nipped or bitten, I assume they could not sue because it says not come close. the soldier would probably be reprimanded also.
The Guards is on duty. They are there to be vigilant against attack, and observe people who behave suspiciously. They are mounted, but they are not there to facilitate interaction between the War Machine (horse) and the public. If a child sticks its hand in the War Machine's mouth, then it's the parent's problem. But if a person takes hold of the reins, (which a great number of adults do) then they are interfering with the operation of the Machine, and the Guard will either shout, jerk the rein or both.
I can watch this video over and over again what a loving and gentle horse and the guard is so very nice not to yell at anyone to let his horse get all the Love and attention he wants All My Love To The Guardsman And His Horse
This horse obviously receives a lot of love from his rider as he loves people. He seems to have a special affection towards young children. What a beautiful creature
What a perfect horse for the crowd! It really loves the attention, and enjoys interacting with them with the head tilts and touches. The Guard knows his/her horse well, too. They are a great team.
What a beautiful loving horse. How he bends his head to rest on little children and babies bought a tear to my eyes. God bless this horse. The Guard is so tolerant too, not throwing his orders around and just lets the horse take the fuss. Thank you for this lovely video Alexander. Teddy UK xx
How ignorant you sound. An on duty soldier is not there to pass the time gossiping, nor to smile for photographs. Think before you engage what little brain you have.
Beautiful, but I was surprised no one thanked the guard for letting them get so close and personnel with his gorgeous horse. I'll revise that as I just heard someone call "thank you" but she was out of shot.
Beautiful gorgeous horse and very kind guard to allow people to pet this lovely sweet soul. Most of the guards are not accommodating and the horses are not as sweet to people either. This lovely horse seems to really love humans (go figure) and his or her sweet gestures are so adorable, the way the huge head and neck bends to gently kiss people! Just amazing and so endearing!🐴💞
Yes what a cutie of a horse. Loved how cool the Guard was because we all know they will shout if necessary "Get off the reins !!". 💜👍..i noticed he had him on a fairly tight rein due to the tiny little ones patting his horse, in case he had to protect them, but the horse was gentle. Lovely. 👍💕
In the last 45 years I have seen some very calm and patient horses at Horse Guards, as well as impatient head tossers, and surreptitious nippers. But I have never seen another horse interact as lovingly with the public as this one does. There are some rare photo-moments captured her in this video. Such precious memories for the individuals who came to London to be unexpectedly snuggled by a big black Military Engine. BTW, The two Horse Guards regiments- the Life Guards (seen here) and the Blues and Royals (navy blue coats) are tank regiments.
That's because some horses don't like it. The troopers know their horses. Also some people behave very badly and are told off for it. That is fair enough!
I always wanted a horse had dogs, one cat, a bird, but horses are majestic !!! I think it was 1984 I met secretariat at Claiborne farms Paris KY. He was so playful, he ate a treat from my hands from the trainer. I have the picture, at his age then I guess about 14 he ran around like a colt.
Ms Magpie: I'm afraid not. In February 2017, The Queen commanded it be slaughtered, then spit-roasted and served-up at the banquet celebrating the 65th anniversary of her reign.
You can't touch the mounted guard but you are allowd to touch the horse, you can't slap it on the neck that means the rider is going to dismount and it stays really still and it stiffens up all the muscles.
The patience of this horse and his rider with people coming at him from left right and front on is amazing. This horse is so beautiful and it just shows how stupid some people can be as there is a sign that says Beware horse may kick or bite yet these idiot tourists just shove their babies in front of the horses face. I'd love for him to have a nip at a few of them.
I am a bit scared of horses and oddly cows!! One of my great grandpops was killed by a horse kick......yet I love this horse, so loving... I wonder if they name them in the barracks ??
Yeah they do name them, i have a friend currently serving in the household cavalry, who looks after the 2 shire drum horses & he has a special relationship with one called major & is always posting FB pics with him.
The sign says horse may bite or kick OTHER PEOPLE so if you want to snuggle up to him that's perfectly okay. If people ignore the sign they shouldn't be too surprised if they get hurt.
A truly magnificent animal. So big and powerful and yet so gentle. This horse has definitely been treated right!
