    Honestly I feel the PTSD may come back. Yang is trying to move on too fast. And I feel like it's intentional to cause her to stop ignoring it. Also I really hope we do get to see more of Whitley next volume. :)

      I actually this she is still hit by the PTSD but tries to hide the fear in anger. Or she now feels angry due to it more so that being fearful about it. She might think she's ready to face Adam again, but most of us know she isn't. When they face off Again it will be her hardest battle yet

      I don't think Yang believes she can take on Adam. He's the source of her PTSD so the moment she comes face-to-face with him that fear should still be rooted in her. I wished we were shown something like that in volume 5 since they were both at Haven, but that didn't happen. Heck, RT could have added a scene where Yang see's Adam after Nora throws Hazel through the doors but he doesn't see her and she freezes in fear seeing the man who so effortlessly cut off her arm.

      @@CozmicEmbyrs No... I honestly feel that EF has all these headcanons of some interesting stuff, but the production team needs to worry about their bottom line. RWBY has a lot of eyes on it. Do something too outside the comfort zone of the audience and they may stop watching. Some of them may riot. Like, these are the same group of people writing death threats to Arryn, Blake's VA, because she liked the Bumblebee ship more than Black Sun. They just stay in their lane to appease the fandom. Maybe every now and then they will dance close to or a little over the line to spark a little interest but they quickly come back to generic plotlines that we've seen a hundred times before.

      @@Anansi6y Understandable and let me clear that was more humorous with that hashtag stuff. As for comparing finished product with ongoing I usually refrain from doing.
      Raven could've definitely been handled better MUCH better especially given her vast importance to Yang's Character Journey [same w/Adam for Ms.Oppressed Princess Primadonna Blake 😂]
      I look at this, KLK was short yet accomplished what it set out to do, while RWBY given it's length so far has yet to accomplish even the most basic aspects of storytelling even somewhat decently such as Show don't Tell, Consistent Lore/Characterisation, Character Development [cuz no getting a pep talk & oh so cool cybernetic enhancement without the PTSD that was brushed over in I believe less than 20 min of screen time is horrendous and does NOT count as good character development IMO] but I digress.
      Let's say RWBY was the length of KLK [as Monty never knew if it would've gained popularity hence Pyrrha dying sooner, Adam being more of a mentor if I recall, Maidens being retroactively thrust into the narrative with no prior setups or hints, and him saying Romantic relationships are Earned also shipping Lancaster Ruby × Jaune but thats besides the point]
      My point in bringing it up is that there's technically something to be said when concerning RWBY and that is 1. there's basically two versions of it at this point [Monty & M&K version] and 2. If it had been ended let's say at the same length as KLK would it have been as successful albeit still having those lasting problems since its inception. [Food For Thought if nothing else I suppose]

      @@TheGoldSpirit and I think with that came the hard part for writing it. No one expected this series to explode like it did. And trying to balance all the new challenges would be difficult. While yes SO many things can be much, much better. I think that while slowly they are M & K are improving.
      It could do rwby some good to take at least a year break from its cycle to think on the story and characters to an even greater degree. With such a tight schedule it is no wonder why things seem like they are. But I don't know how the creative process is. Maybe they had all this listed out, maybe they are scrambling little by little. Who knows. But with the comparison to kill la kill it most likely had its story mostly laid out, but probably changed its direction at some point with certain changes.

Jaquee can't afford to loose another potential heir so he will probably isolate, threatened and maybe even gaslight him, anything to keep him in line. Her anger and rage, her direct to combat and accusations when under stress. Is her mental defense she is just burying her pain. She didn't directly interact with Adam in Volume 5 and I can guarantee we will see Adam again facing Yang and she will being fighting perfectly up untill that point. I never thought that Adam might have some sort of "special" thing with his eyes. There are plenty of characters who wear masks not to conceal some scar or secret, but to conceal their identity. That they're hiding from themselves or that by not showing their true face to others, they can mask their feelings and put out a front. I just wanted to see what his face looked like. I'm definitely not gonna be disappointed if it ends up looking like a normal face.

    • @willieoelkers5568

      I've read enough super-hero comics and seen enough cartoons that I tend to just think of masks as a persona, an alter-ego if you will. It's actually interesting to look at which characters do and don't wear masks and what it says about them. Most of the ones who wear masks are trying to become someone new and different, while with those that don't view their super-personas as simply an extension of who they already are. Granted, this isn't a hard-and-fast rule, but it's interesting to consider.

    I definitely agree! Especially about Adam and Whitley. I have never hated either of them as much as most people seem to. It has always seemed obvious to me why Whitley would be the way he is; I felt sorry for him because only Winter and Weiss got to escape their father and he was left alone with him. Not that he's likable at all lol, but I get it.
    With the Adam trailer, I feel like people are way too quick to say that he has just always been a monster. The scene where he killed the first guy made me feel sorry for him because nobody showed any concern about his mental state after he had to do that. I know I'm quiet and don't show much emotion, but it doesn't mean I don't feel anything and I think he is the same. Notice how he seems to have no emotional connections to anyone except Blake? It's sad. Maybe she was the only person who ever reached out and tried to get to know him as a person. Ugh, I wish they would give him a redemption, because I feel like he has a mental illness and never got help.

    1: Adam is likely both, but expecting it to be Psychology (to avoid disappointment)
    2: Qrow is easily Psychology, the reason why he drinks is likely do to what happened in Summer's Death, either he caused it through his Semblance accidentally, or STRQ went on a mission to kill Salem since Ozpin thought they we're ready. But something happened to make them fail and have Summer Rose killed.
    3: Whitley is also likely a little bit of both but more Psychology, nothing to really to say on this one since we don't know this character well enough
    4: Yang is both, but switches from time to time, which is what makes it more interesting to me and why shes my second favorite character, it's her journey on how she conquers it.

After the botched plan, they tried to escape to an evac point, but Qrow's semblance passive kicked and screwed over him, his teamates, or both.

She lost her arm to someone who was out there who got away, she couldn't protect Blake who ran off on her, and she doesn't know who she can trust. She's lost her trust in her partner, and her mother. I really liked your dive into the psychology behind the characters. Raven has complex and conflicting views and feelings about the state of things, and you can see glimpses of it even when they were trying to give a simplistic view of it for the audience to easily digest. While Raven put Vernal in harms way, it was clear she deeply cared for Vernal. Many of Raven's actions seems to be tacitly the right thing to do given the situation she was in, but she seems to be visibly upset or regretting those actions. What happened to the previous Spring maiden hits a nerve with Raven, she shows genuine regret about leaving Yang but still does it. Raven seems to genuinely care about Yang but still went through with a plan to double cross Cinder and co, despite it putting Yang in the crosshairs. Raven is repeatedly shown to repress the feelings and emotions she genuinely has, in order to the do what's best for herself and her tribe. A way of think her tribe probably imparted into her as she was raised.

    I have said it many times it's not just Yang's PTSD. It's her abandonment issues (while others would see it as an excuse. I on the other hand see it to be a valuable justification). Her mother left her, Summer died so she left her too. then Ruby left her, and now Blake left her. It's the fact that Yang sees her leaving her the same way Raven left her. It's not that she's in love with her partner. It's her abandonment issues that plays a huge part on her character. Add her PTSD and you have a psychological mess. BB shippers see her abandonment issues as an" excuse" keep saying that she's in love with Blake. I'd say they're wrong and they don't understand Yang's character at all. All they think about is shipping. They have to look deeper more than just the romance. While others say I'm a homophobic because I deny the possibility of BB becoming canon. I'm seeing this from a logical POV. True she moved on from Raven but she won't move on from Blake. There's bound to be a conversation between them. Blake needs to tell her that she will never run away because she has learned her lesson the hard way. It's about fixing their friendship NOT their relationship as a couple. The shipping fans are looking too much into it. At the same time if done right Blake and Yang can have a relationship as a couple. But so far RT is doing it so wrong, showing the negative side of the BB ship. Being full of angst and it only shows that the ship itself is toxic to the core.

I'm starting to think that there's someone else that could lgbt in the team. My guess is Weiss. True she was interested in Neptune but it was just a crush. The focus is on the ships when it should be on the healing of the main casts wounds (psychically and mentally) and the bonds they share. Honestly, the whole show is wasted potential. RWBY after volume 4 had the chance to become something special, something that could have been as great as other anime like Evangelion, Naruto, and AoT.
      Even before that volume, they should have milked beacon for all it's worth and used it to explore all the characters they made, sort of like in Naruto.

    I don't watch RWBY but that was an amazing analysis. I've been thinking about practicality vs psychology in writing for a while, I think, but I didn't have the words for it. It would be cool to have a conflict between the two be acknowledged in-story. Like, have a character make a psychologically-motivated decision, perfectly sensible to them, and get called out later for it being impractical. Or have them make a practical decisions that winds up being psychologically damaging. It's the old issue of judging yourself by your intentions and judging everyone else by their actions.

Yang still has PTSD you just didn't realise it.

    I agree with most of this, although I do disagree with Raven, she kills how many people as a bandit? Let's leave aside her leaving Yang, or the whole murder-maiden thing, she has caused dozens of deaths that we've seen, and many more that we haven't, I don't care how she was raised, that's bad, if a dog goes rabid, no matter how unfortunate, you put it down, and as Qrow shows she didn't need to go rabid, she had a chance to be more.
    Also for Yang, at least from my outlook, I kind of like the transition from PTSD to a more practical outlook, Yang may be emotional, but she's most emotional about her abandonment issue's, and Ruby, as of Volume 5 she's put her abandonment issue's to the side, at least for now, and focused on helping Ruby, this gives a reason why we don't see her "weak" right now, she's using her own love for Ruby as a cover. Not exactly a long term way of dealing with thing, but at least or now a way to cope.

      I'd agree with you if Yang and Weiss hadn't had that discussion they did previously. The consensus was plain as day, and there had been plenty of bitterness for one night. What I "WILL" call stupid is if the writers allow that to be the matters actual conclusion. It isn't, and euphoria is a very short lived state. I don't think the two will ever be buddies in quite the same way as before. There's always going to be that nail in the back of Yangs mind. "Is she going to betray me again?" I (mostly) agree with this author's requests and predictions. Not all, but most.
      ruclips.net/video/y76nZmL0UcY/видео.html
      I'm going to be clear here. Volumes 4 and 5 are not the series height by a fair margine. But there are definitely aspect of it I do like, and others I don't. What I completely dislike is the heavily polar "turd" or "gold" verdics I keep hearing from Rooster Teeth's fanbase. It's a hate war that's ruining the show for those of us who want to stand a middle ground. I.E. Calling the post-Monty series flawed, but enjoyable. What worries me is if Rooster Teeth chooses to ignore what minority of their fan base are willing to stay level. Putting forward a considered debate, not vitriol or stone defense.
      The bottom line is I'm willing to forgive Rooster Teeth provided they keep improving in the writing and action departments. What I want is for them to come back from this stumble, not regress into monotony. If volume 6 does that, then they've got me for the longer run. If they regress, then I'll cut my losses now before it slips any further. October-January will tell.

      +Jordan Scherr regarding your second comment, THANK YOU! I can't even begin to tell you how many people I've seen either tear apart or idolize RWBY in the most recent volumes. But I feel like you know that yourself anyway. I'm glad to see some one else who still likes the show but can admit it's not perfect.

      Thank you for finally giving that stance some support in turn! Monty's death was a massive blow for the show with those taking over having to re-envision their approach. A single creative genius's finesse doesn't control the project anymore, resulting in stumbles and decisions that back them into uncomfortable corners. It won't ever be the same show it's creator originally sculpted. I'm just hoping it continues to improve in a noticeable way. If it does that, I'll be satisfied.

    I know that raven chose to abandon her daughter and her significant other, she made a poor choice, she thought that she was doing the right thing, this couldn't be further from the truth, cause in reality, she's afraid, she's afraid of salem, she's afraid of what will happen if she gets all four relics, and that fear, is what made her chose to leave her real family behind, and go back to those thieves and killers that don't count as family, I hope, in volume 6, that raven redeems herself, and makes it up to all the mistakes she had made in the past, although I know that this won't mean that her daughter and brother had forgiven her for what she did, but I hope she'll make it up to them, and earn their trust in the future.

    • @willieoelkers5568
      @willieoelkers5568 6 лет назад +3

      I don't see a redemption in the near future. The core aspect of a redemption is that someone acknowledges that part of their world-view was wrong, and so far none of the characters that people are talking about (Emerald, Raven, Adam) seem to be at that point. Raven repeats history by running back to her tribe when the conflict she's become involved in gets too big, Adam was ready to kill himself and his followers rather than accept Blake and Ghira's White Fang, and Emerald seems more likely to seek vengeance for Cinder rather than question if she's on the right side. I'm not saying it's impossible for any of them, but I'm currently not seeing any indicators that it will happen soon.

    • @rebeccarichar4091
      @rebeccarichar4091 6 лет назад

      @@willieoelkers5568 I agree with you on Adam and Emerald but I saw Raven's apology and her giving up the relic (more so the apology as giving up the relic could be explained as a continuation of her fear) as that acknowledgment that what she's doing is wrong. Considering also that she showed up near Tai Yang I think she has a high likelihood of being redeemed. I'm not completely sure and I by no means think it will be a fast turn around but I think there is a good chance.

    • @willieoelkers5568
      @willieoelkers5568 6 лет назад +3

      Rebecca Richar Raven is the most likely, but it still seems a ways off to me because she still seems to hold firm to her principles, which are what led her to return to her tribe in the first place. While I'm not opposed to the idea of a redemption, I feel that any of the characters that are up for consideration are going to need a lot of development before the actual redemption becomes plausible, so I don't see one happening until near the end of Vol. 6 at the earliest.

    Hey EruptionFang, loved the video (as well as all your content, especially the BMBlB rage). I just kinda wanted to comment on the Raven part of the video. You basically sat survival of the fittest is her ideology but....that's just a guise to cover up what really drives her actions. This is just a broad statement but, it's fear. Much speculation could be put into her relationships with Qrow, Tai, Salem, Summer, or Ozpin, but the relationship with the most earnest emotion and thought being shown is with Yang. I'm talking about their conversation, right after Raven put out the Cinders (Yea I know, terrible joke).Yang's words cut deep into Raven's facade. "You don't know the first thing about strength. You turn your back on people, you run away when things get too hard, you put others in harms way instead of yourself. You might be powerful, but that doesn't make you strong" When confronted with this, Raven demands what justifies Yang to lecture her, when she is just as scared as Raven. Despite knowing the difference in power/ability between herself and Raven/Salem, Yang still stands boldly, something a younger Raven might have done, instead of run. To drive this point home, Yang gives her mother one last chance, take the relic and wrath of Salem, or let Yang, her daughter take it. You know how that went. Raven, this strong, cunning, invincible leader doesn't fight these accusations, or brush them off like she did earlier by claiming these horrible qualities make her strong. She breaks down and shows weakness for the first time (at least to us viewers), crying and apologizing. Whether or not her break down was in response to Yang's earlier assessment of her, or to the realization that she has (in her perception, since she likely knows the full scope of Salem's power) doomed her only daughter to a fate worse than death, I"ll leave to you. This is just another perspective, much like yours, still loved the video!

You understand and also think of even better possible concepts from what can be seen in the show that the writers themselves probably haven't thought of (not to shade their work though) so well along with such complex concepts, but can also explain them very well in such a way that I could never do. I just really appreciate just how you share your thoughts on the greatest potential these characters could have for the audience to see. I hope RT is listening. From Adam's short I think they really may have and v6, for at least me seems kind of promising.

    A thought I had regarding the mask (and I find it a bit dificult to describe) is with the mask he both litereally and psychologically puts on a mask, with the mask he is a different person, he can get away with more things because people dont see the "real" Adam Taurus (I hope I spelled that right xD) and this second charakter deals with everything, does everything and starts to lead the White Fang until the point this Adam is rejected and the "real" one dosnt need that persona anymore... I hope I made my thoughts understandable

    • @willieoelkers5568
      @willieoelkers5568 6 лет назад +2

      That's pretty interesting. If I understand it right, you're saying that he originally used the mask to distance himself, the person, from his actions, but he's now reached a point where he doesn't feel the need to distance himself anymore, and thus doesn't need the mask? That makes a lot of sense. I like it.

    I glad that I'm not the only one who sees Whitely that way. With Yang's PTSD I don't believe it's gone. Now they don't have to focus on the reuniting plot lines I think they have more time to deal with internal problems.
    A thing about Raven's motivation/psyche that seems to be overlooked is the time between Yang and Ruby being born. It's possible that Tai and Summer just fell in love really quickly after Raven left but I almost get the feeling T+S's romance started (in some way) beforehand. Realising she wasn't the one he loved anymore could have been another reason she left, and would add an extra layer to that "You sound just like your mother" line.
    Anyway, I love examining character psychology, therefore love that you made this video.

    When it comes to Yang, I don't think a switch from stress to anger would be that out of character.
    Sometimes, the problem you deal with isn't the thing that's causing your emotion, but what emotion you should be feeling in the first place.
    Yang was angry at first towards Adam because he hurt Blake, but then scared because despite all that anger, she ended up doing nothing towards, him, and actually became a hindrance towards Blake, who ran away afterwards.
    So it turned to stress because she felt like there's nothing she could do anymore, especially since it's a similar situation that her mom left her in, so she resigned herself, and her emotions- left without release- simmered and burned.
    Until, that is, her dad helped her to understand that there's more to her than her anger, and that letting go of emotions is sometimes more useful than letting them loose, on top of helping to reassure her that she's more than just her semblance would suggest.
    While this part let her calm down, she still struggled with keeping herself in check(hence the shaking). Eventually, however, she was able to let go more easily(Leaving her arm with Mercury), and that's probably what prompted her to stop caring so much about why Raven left, and such.

    GG for bringing this topic up as I've found Raven's character particularly interesting because of my own life experience with things similar.
    In brief, my mom is a war veteran (she became part of a freedom fighter movement for a war that started when she was 10 years old), she's seen and lived with some pretty harsh realities in her early impressionable years, including guerrilla warfare. I suspect she's been dealing with long-ingrained and never discussed PTSD for decades and it's amassed in many ways. One of those ways being gas-lighting my brothers and I while we still lived at home (and until I finally realized what gas-lighting was and that it was happening to us).
    I still love her, and the things she's been able to accomplish in her life -- even with all that she experienced growing up -- is one of my many inspirations, but does it excuse the emotional abuse that she put us through? No. Does it make the bad personality traits good? No. However, I can fully understand how going through what she's dealt with psychologically can lead to someone gas-lighting others. I can sympathize. And knowing this, I deal with her very carefully. I, of course, make sure to protect myself from the emotional harm that she could inflict (because I am smarter and understand what is going on now) but I also try to help where I can guide her to make life and communication between us easier. This could even sometimes involve not communicating with her entirely for a time.
    But yeah, good vid. I dig it.

    EruptionFang Yang's "development" in V4 and V5 was . . . really dumb. Like, she should have psychological trauma for quiet a bit after having her arm cut off. She has it for a few episodes then she puts on the new arm and is fine 'till she meets the bandit in the gas station (by the way, what a dumb animation for her punching him) and her arm shakes a bit after she punches him. After that, her "trauma" is gone, it doesn't appear again and she seems to still be the same as before she had her arm cut off.
    She goes to a bandit camp to get a portal from her mom, who is already established as having run out of her life when she was just a child, to get to Ruby instead of, oh IDK, going to Mistral like Ruby said she was? I'm probably skipping other significant things, but the end of the season "fight" (which again, was awful animation and story wise) she runs past Emerald and Mercury, who also have to act like absolute morons to allow her past them, but Yang's arm is taken off by Mercury. As a side-note, how the fuck is that thing sticking to her arm and connected to her nerves if it comes off with someone simply grabbing it? Anyways, back to my point, she leaves with one arm to face, as far as she knows, three villians. Her mother, Vernal, and Cinder are (as far as everyone else on the surface knows) still down in the Vault and Ruby encourages Yang to go fight them by herself and she loses her arm not even halfway to the Vault but continues on anyways?
    I don't know about y'all, but if her losing her arm was supposed to teach her not to be cocky and brash, it clearly hasn't fixed the "brash" part at all.

    I agree with most of what you said but the bit with Yang I’m not so sure I’ll admit it could be a writer cop out but it could be her redirect outing on a strong front like she always does as a set up for a break down latter it’s easy to take emotion and such that you don’t understand and get frustrated so instead of what one really feels they stop trying and get mad

    Very interesting points, and I personally agree on a number of these points. While I think Qrow's Alcoholism likely stems from more than the death of his teammate, I can see the leading idea you are picking up on. In addition to that, I think Yang is being given a bit of a harder time here, given that the shakes are more likely a more subtle indication of her trauma in a physical display, though it's somewhat dissapointing that we don't see it more dramatically hindering her ability to fight, as yet anyhow. It would actually make more sense that she is in fact running away from the trauma, and the fighting is an outlet for her, like it probably was when she was burdened with the responsibility of taking care of her father AND her sister when her pseudo mother left, and explains why she picked a much more physical weapon. As her dad mentioned, she's used to pushing through things at any cost, which led to finding a physical outlet to hit, relieving her of the stress. Also, she tanks hits and is able to throw them back, which might actually be a hint to her mindset of taking burdens and using them to make herself stronger as a person, as she appears to do with her PTSD towards fighting adam without her arm.

    This video opened my eyes to one particular character I was giving unfair hate, that character being Whitley, and it also beautifully described what I've seen in Raven since we started seeing more of her in Volume 5 when i see people hate on her and say she was a bad mom i always point to her past and the fact that she had said that her and Qrow were raised by her tribe which is a tribe of bandits it won't be this happy life it's a life where, like Raven's philosophy, the strong survive and the weak perish and you will only be saved once you must rely on yourself and these facts just make me appreciate Raven and mildly disagree with what Yang said in volume 5 her mother is strong in her own right just like Yang or any of the other character similar to how Weiss said everyone has their own version of Loneliness everyone has their own version of Strength

    Hey, you picked all my favorite characters (except swap Qrow for Irondaddy) to talk about! Yay!
    You're on a shortlist of channels, alongside Spaz and Nux Taku, who I *really* struggle to disagree with. Hooray for bubbles! I'm gonna go burst it by watching a fatmanfalling video now.
    Disagreement builds a better argument, after all.

    I have a female OC who wears a mask like Adam. but it is both practical and psychological for her to do so. it covers a facial scar but also acts as a cage for her separate aggressive persona that emerges once it is taken off. the other persona was a result of the Grimm attack that scarred her. let me know what you think Eruption Fang

    I'd say that Yang PTSD doesn't show much on her shaking arm or anger, but on how differently she acts. She's a completely different person, you see how she's always sad or angry or just emotionless (like when she was in front of her mother), she has seen now how the real world is, experienced it in her own body. I know the Fall of Beacon and the deaths of friends turned them all in something different than what they were, but Yang just went through so much more than that. She was even abandoned by her friends, her team, her sister, the girl she opened up to, and in her weak state what could have she thought? That maybe they were leaving her 'cause she wasn't worth the time? Because she was broken since she lost her arm? Some people think of them too much like characters, but you should see them as PERSONS. We CAN'T read her mind and how she felt, and that's why I liked that she didn't put the arm on instantly. She herself was surprised that it worked so well, because when she put it on, she didn't do that because she thought that it would help her, but because she didn't want to get anymore in her father's way and reunites with her sister (remember she heard her father talk with the professors about finding Ruby, and only the next day put the arm on). Her Arc is NOT completed yet, not like Blake and Weiss' are anyway. And I'm really curious about what will trigger her next (her mother's comeback? Some revealed truths? Something happening to Ruby?)

    ...doesn't Yang's hand shaking imply remains of her PTSD? ..I think it does. and it wasn't brushed off.

  • @Lunacorva

    But maybe that actually IS the psychology of Yang. That she finds solace in the practical, in action. That she feels better when there is an action and a goal she can take. I actually have a theory that both Yang and Ruby masked their trauma through action. A shark-like "keep moving or you'll drown" mentality that I often use for my own characters.

    OK to be fair on Yang's ptsd. It is still there, the symptoms have just changed. What was once crippling fear and anxiety has evolved into irritation and aggression when confronted with things that remind her of everything she lost. The same thing can be seen in war vets. The ones who work through the initial stages of depression can go from easygoing to highly irritable in seconds. And with Yang's already hot tempered personality irritability turns into anger quickly. The most exaggerated example I can think of for a case like that is Flippy from happy tree friends.

    good to see something positive about RWBY. Its been only negative recently... where i think many of the sings you said are true and accurate, so many things could ahve been better and it disappoints me to see so much love put into RWBY from the fans and little put into it from RT

    FINALLY! Somebody who actually cares about character motivation and psychology behind the actions!
    Seriously RWBY is not the first series to suffer because of the Practicality vs Psychology perception issue
    I cannot believe the hand shaking is a sign of anger, I believe that she is trying to repress her fear.
    Up to now, she has never really shown to be afraid of anything, and I believe she has never actually lost before.
    But now she has, now she is, and it almost cost her a friend's life, and it did cost a arm.
    For the first time in her life since that day she almost got herself and her sister killed by the grim, She lost.

    For what it's worth, the scene with Yang and Blake in the farm shed from a recent episode shows that Yang is still dealing with the incident, it's just not externalized in a super-obvious way.

      Also, we don't see Jacques being abusive with Whitley the way he is with Weiss. So while Whitley definitely didn't grow up in a healthy household, we should also consider that his childhood may not be comparable to Weiss's.

    I never even thought that Adam was hiding something until I saw this

  • @kumakun17
    @kumakun17 6 лет назад

    In terms of Adam, I think his mask more represented the identity that he had crafted for himself. This strong, noble, justice seeking (all aspects from his perspective, mind you) warrior, and the mask went from symbolizing the human fear of the Faunus, to being what he identified himself with. Hence why he wore it even around those close to him. When he discards it at the end of the short, he realizes that everything he was is gone. Hes not a hero to his people anymore, his allies are defeated, and now people have an open and legitimate reason to hate HIM. That person is gone now, and I think we're going to see what he was hiding under that mask: the real, unhinged, unmitigated monster that is Adam Taurus.
    Edited for spelling errors.

  • @espressocookie8965

    Adam's mask is both practical and psychological, but mostly psychological. It covers an SDC branding scar he has, and he wears it to spite humans. After volume 5, he wears a bit of cloth over his eyes to cover the scar, and doesn't wear the mask again.

    If we really want to be nitpicky with Whiteley, he is a man, a male. And more often than not, in a family of renown like the Schnees, all the daugthers are married like dowry, in place of treaties, being those political or bussiness partnertships.
    That is why the Schnee sisters take care of each other, so they won't go the same path as their mother (the true Schnee) walked in her youth with Jacques

    • @demo0831
      @demo0831 6 лет назад +2

      is that supposed to justify how his sisters didnt even attempt to look after him ?

    • @dland6616
      @dland6616 6 лет назад

      Nope. Is justifying why their father is even more aggressive with them than Whiteley. If any of this is bound to happen sometime in the future of the serie (Like Jacques hiring thugs/bounty hunters to bring her daughter back for a convenient marriage) is only a mediocre hypotesis from my part.
      You could also say that them knowing what could happen, they didn't attempt anything to preserve the wellbeing of their little brother. Which could bring him harsher and frequent punishments.

      The fact that Jacques cares more about Whitley is also shown through the pictures in the manor. He is the only one smiling in the family portrait and he has more pictures of him put around the house, one even on Jacques' desk

    the whole yang thing was built around her character. her baseline is to take damage, and get stronger and angrier from it. but this time, it was a different sort of damage, and like her father said, she needed to think with her head more than she has been. i dont think shes been doing that for this. sure, shes channeling her hurt productively, but some of that anger went to her friends, and we see her having issues coping after almost every fight. shes pushing through the pain like she does with bullets and swords, and the only reason its worked is because she hasnt lost yet. she could have a complete regression at any moment, and even wind up worse. in fact, i think that may be what causes her to fully forgive blake. this time, blake will be there for her, and THAT will be when she can heal.

  • @TopPigg

    I still see Yang as suffering from PTSD. her shaking after fights isn't anger based, she's scared. she faces altercation after altercation knowing at any point what adam did could repeat itself. she fights in the moment, but when the dust settles she's trembling and trying to calm herself. her anger towards her mother was a long time coming, but we still have to wait and see how she'll do when confronted with adam

    I think Yang shows a very clear sign of PTSD after she goes back out on her own, after the new arm... her shaking hand is a sign of PTSD. We shall see if they go further with this, but it is a symptom.
