    You don't have to make Ozma creating the Maidens sound so maniacal. He did it so that they could help others like they helped him. That should come before the negative aspects like them being hunted. Besides, they most likely weren't hunted so soon. It's probably centuries later when they were commonly known and their powers were understood. There is always going to be a negative side to something, but the whole point of the Maidens was to create heroines, not targets.

    • @SailorRemnant
      @SailorRemnant Год назад

      I believe those first maidens got to live relatively peaceful lives without being hunted because people didn't automatically know about how the power is transferred through death. EruptionFang, don't throw shade on Ozpin "just because" as you did when you said that his reasoning was purely selfish (and imply that he knew what would happen without any evidence to begin with).
    In the fairy tale he was that old and grumpy man without any care in the world (in negative sense) and after years of being, ehem, *ALONE* . You seem to forget that with your argument "He's had to come across other who could technically have been just as worthy of it" when it was said he was *lonely* (and could have been one of the times when he was like "I don't fucking care anymore").
    I'm not saying that Ozpin's reasoning wasn't influenced by his doughters but what I am saying is that he might have thought "Those four girls are so pure and kind, maybe they could use magic in better ways than I did". Is it that hard to believe that Ozpin was at that state after multiple reincarnations?
    Sorry EruptionFang but you seem to follow the trend of "Ozpin is a piece of shit, after he died as Ozma and random farmer dude, he became just as evil as Salem, every choice he has made is bad in nature and there's absolutely no reason as to why he would do it under any circumstances".
    Ever thought that maybe, just maybe, you giving him too much shit?

      I feel like If someone does something not perfect, its ok because life is complicated. But if Ozpin so much as recounts a fairytail, then hes a liar. This event wouldve taken place 100s of years ago, it wouldve been a fully dledged story, Ozpin wasnt necessarily stating history

      "This event wouldve taken place 100s of years ago"
      Glynda: The Maidens existed for thousands of years.
      Not to mention that this tale maybe wasn't told by Ozpin in the first place, it might have as well come from the Maidens themselves (whether it'd be to friends or family). But I guess it's a trend to blame him for literally anything. Even without evidence apparently because "He lies a lot/all the time". Just because he does it a lot doesn't mean he is to balme for every single lie in the world -_-

      I totally agree with you. I by no means think Ozpin is perfect and I definitely think he shouldn't have lied but it's pretty obvious that EruptionFang has a clear bias against Ozpin that's clouding his judgement. It almost seems like he wants Ozpin to be evil so he keeps twisting things to make Ozpin look bad. Personally, I think Ozpin is a disillusioned man who's doing what he thinks he must to preserve humanity. Do I agree with a lot of his methods? No, but I think it comes from the right place.

    • @ryujin8754

      @@rebeccarichar4091
      I think the same. Ozpin made a lot of mistakes, more than any man, woman or child on this planet but that doesn't make him a "ultimate evil".
      I remember EruptionFang arguing Ozpin's reasons as to why he haven't told anybody that Salem can not be destroyed and ultimately concluded that Ozpin is just dumb and wants to "control" everyone... because (correct me if I'm wrong). For me Ozpin is not trying to defeat Salem anymore, he's trying to save humanity in every possible way he can. It's not a matter of winning, it's fight for survival of human race.
      Back to the topic, yeah, EruptionFang possibly has bias towards Ozpin, it's possible that after years of theorising about him being evil he just can't accept that Ozpin isn't a man wanting to control people just for the sake of controling them (theory that Fang didn't give up in my eyes).
      Ozpin is no angel, by no means but I think that this character gets to much shade for no reason.

    • @rebeccarichar4091
      @rebeccarichar4091 5 лет назад +15

      @@ryujin8754 Yeah, I usually really enjoy EruptionFang's videos but lately I've been hesitant to watch them just to hear another "Ozpin is terrible" rant.
      I definitely agree that Ozpin is going for survival rather than defeat and I think he didn't want people to hear that Salem can't be destroyed because he thinks no one will want to fight if they don't think they can 'win' and, in a way, he's been justified in that thought with how everyone's reacted.
      I also remember EruptionFang saying that Ozpin doesn't actually need to defeat Salem to complete his mission and he's just obsessing over her which makes no sense. Jinn, in the story, says he tried to complete the mission but Salem kept interfering. Salem is actively trying to thwart Ozpin so of course he needed to do something about her.

  • @KemarRaijin

    The only problem with Ozpin being the one to give them powers, is as you said, by that point he should have experienced a few lives. Why would he give them the powers with those conditions of inheritance. If the daughters were the original maidens, then it COULD be the reason for 'somewhat' random inheritance. The power was unintentionally created from two magic users and their curses. Its also worth pointing out that in season 3, Ozpin points out that the story of the Seasons was a tale that was told when HE was a boy. Now this could be another Ozpin lie, or it could be an early admission, like "I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child on this planet." But it implies that the legend was already there.
    So all and all, I feel that the 4 children were the original maidens, and Ozpin is using the legend to cover up their actual accidental origins.

    • @stacyforsythe5738
      @stacyforsythe5738 5 лет назад

      Of course, by "when I was a boy," he could mean when Professor Ozpin (the last host that Ozma's soul/Aura melded with) was a boy, just as we can say that Oscar is a boy now.
      Then again, the story of the Four Maidens seems to be a myth about the seasons, not (originally) four literal girls. So perhaps even the original Ozma heard that story when he was growing up among Humanity 1.0, and later made it a real thing with either his own daughters or girls similar to them.

    I think Ozpins daughters survived that night. Like you said, no body no death. Thanks to Ren and Nora, it’s not uncommon to see children taking care of themselves after the death of family members. Perhaps the night caused the oldest child to ‘lock’ away her powers, seeing what magic did to her family, as well as shutting out the memory of her mother killing her father.
    Fast forward to the story of the seasons, Ozpin comes face to face with his children, and was able to unlock all of their powers, regifting them, however the oldest child’s memories are unclear if Ozpin opened those up too.

    The thing is the magic bound itself to each soul and fused each soul together from what I can understand. The powers and the soul of the first four maidens passed to a four other "like-minded soul[s]" or maybe "someone, a woman, that" each maiden respectively was last thinking of last and, the powers and souls, bound themselves to the new maidens. This continued in a cycle like with Ozpin.

    i feel like it would not hurt the lore for those girls to have been the original maidens. I actually think it would give depth to it, it would show us that the world we see is not just facts and simple ideas, but is actually a dynamic and developing place. There is also something else i noticed, when Salem summon magic before the apocalypse there was this black and white light in the centre, assuming this represented creation and destruction, it was not there when the baby winter maiden summon her magic. I like to thing this means that Salem and oz still have these powers and can cast their own curses, and probably oz cursed his daughters magic to pass form girl to girl so there was always someone to protect his vaults.

    OZPIN THEORY:
    A theory about Ozpin I have is that he forced himself into Oscar early. We've heard that he supposedly came back much faster than normal this time. Maybe he normally goes into a baby, who's mind is under developed, that way he can assert full control and never have to worry about stuff like the person having free will, and messing up his plans, like Oscar just did. If he starts while they're a baby then they presumably wont be able to defend against his exerted control, and he can stifle their mental growth in order to make sure they never do. A little much I know, but possible. Maybe the reason he went to Oscar, who is clearly younger than the others, is that he was old enough to move around and fight from working on a farm his whole life, but young enough that his brain still isn't fully developed, and is therefor more susceptible to Ozpin's control. Because this situation forced him to come back immediately instead of waiting for a child to grow up, all the people he needs to help him, knew him as his old self, and need to trust the new him, that's the only reason why Oscar is allowed to be himself some of the time. Everyone needs to think it's an equal exchange. This latest episode shows Oscar starting to realize that it isn't meant to be. This is a curse after all. Ozpin isn't some wise mentoring consciousness that's meant to guide you through life. He's a parasite who's main goal is to use your body to achieve status and power in order to help achieve his vendetta against Salem. Maybe he knows the best he can do is annoy her, but if that's all he can do, he'll do it. He doesn't care who's life he steals, all he wants is vengeance against Salem. (Maybe for the death of the girls? Who knows really.)

    Well one other option is that they escaped and Salem, now hating Ozpin didn’t bother to find them or if they were still there she abandoned them completely because they had Ozpin’s blood in them. Eventually after being raised by someone else they decided to travel and eventually ran into their fathers reincarnation, wether or not they knew that would probably be unknown, but he taught them how to properly use their powers and encouraged them to use it for the greater good and to help mankind, all of them unaware of the curse the powers had.And I don’t have a problem with the show saying no this is what really happened because that happens all the time in fairy tales. In the original Little Mermaid the mermaid died because she couldn’t bring herself to kill the prince and turn back into a mermaid. Cinderella went through multiple changes as well, originally a magic (dead) cow provided the gown and shoes, then it was birds and instead of two ugly step sisters it was several step sisters just as beautiful as her and as punishment for how they treated her the birds pecked the step sisters eyes out, and then there’s the version we all know. The original Rapunzle also was drastically different as the prince knocked Rapunzle up and the witch found out when Rapunzle’s dresses no longer fit.

  • @AlmostSkillfull
    @AlmostSkillfull 5 лет назад

    That's exactly what I was thinking. Ozpin saw the girls as being similar to his daughters and so he gave them powers so that they'd be more like him. Ozpin is selfish. Maybe he didn't know the full ramifications of the power or that they would pass on after death, but it doesn't seem likely he did it just to be nice. Maybe he thought they might be able to fight with him against Salem, but instead they left. Who knows really, though if there is anything we know about Ozpin it's that he apparently always has an ulterior motive.
    I do though think it's likely that he accidently made the maidens. Maybe he thought the magic would return to him upon their death, maybe he had enough that he didn't consider it much at the time, who knows. Though there is no reason for Ozpin to make it a thing that passes on. Presumably it's something he would want control over. If he had done it intentionally he would have made it so that he always gets to choose who the powers are bestowed upon. He wouldn't have intended it to work the way it does. Honestly he probably had no idea what he was doing. The maidens were likely a big mistake on his part. They took a lot of his power away. Maybe he thought that the curse might be tied to the power, and that by relinquishing them he could die. Maybe the consequences were unintended he could have thought that as an old man he wouldn't be able to use them, and wanted people spreading good with the powers while the new body he moved into grew up. Then he planned to take the powers back when he was older, only to find out that he gave them away permanently, or maybe all the maidens died so he couldn't get his powers back, and he's been looking for them ever since, who knows.
    Another theory I have is that he forced himself into Oscar early. We've heard that he supposedly came back much faster than normal this time. Maybe he normally goes into a baby, who's mind is under developed, that way he can assert full control and never have to worry about stuff like the person having free will, and messing up his plans, like Oscar just did. Maybe the reason he went to Oscar, who is clearly younger than the others, is that he was old enough to move around and fight, but young enough that his brain still isn't fully developed, and is therefor more susceptible to Ozpins control.

    I'm gonna have to correct you on one thing. It actually IS established that it's the soul of the maidens that is being transferred. That does sound similar but different to ozpin's curse.

    I think that the story of the maidens is more like a myth than actually true. The reason I think this is because during The Last Fable, we see one of Ozpin's incarnations, namely the Hermit who is wandering around homeless and in despair. He resembles the hermit of the story, but is also extremely different. That along with the four daughters resembling the maidens but basically being implied as dead leads me to think the theory about powers being passed on is more likely to be true.

    The children were definitely not the first maidens. The children could use all colours of magic but the maidens each only control one colour of magic.

    I agree with the whole the sisters reminded ozpin of his daughter. But remember he was an old grumpy man when he met them. And after they helped him get a new out look on life. And with good intentions gave them the powers. And of course the intentions he had was to have them spread their good deeds with magic. However this backfired and caused ozpin to make the story of the seasons just that a story that isn't true to protect the maidens. And the only other person who knows about the maidens is Salem who informs the people who serves her about the maidens to help her get the relics for her plan. What that plan is must be to kill the Gods of Creation and Destruction to prove that they are wrong. And this would cause the God of creation to see he was wrong with choosing Ozma for what he had done and have him be truly cursed with immortality where he truly is trapped.And cause ozpin to go into isolation to be alone forever. And s for Oscar well Ozpin would get his own body and Oscar is free to do what he wants

    In short: they died, their auras/soul passed on to other, like-minded people. pretty much like Ozpin's.
    Then the tale happened, and four sister who inherited the children aura's find one of Ozpin incarnations.
    This also matches why the silver eyes responds to the maidens. Because of the children's mother, Salen.

    Maybe he found his daughters in his next incarnation, brought them together and then when they died took that power back and kept it "safe" from Salem after their original daughters died.That would give double incentive to him becoming a hermit, and getting drunk as other past lives showed, until one day four sisters reminded him of his kids, and he gave the appropriate powers out at that point... It's not a "great" theory, but it's a plausible one and definitely fits Oz's MO.

    I go woth the inspiration. Ozpin saw his deceased daugthers in the girls, and bested them the power. But he failed to realise that the power hungry demands of humanity would in the end make this a deed, forever hurting him more.

    If Ozma's daughter's survived, then they could grow up and be the girl's that visited the old hermit. But it having been too long he doesn't recognize them. Although I read on RWBY fandom that Salem accidentally did them in. But I'd hate for that to be the case.

    Well, if they were cursed with a twisted kind of reincarnation, it might have been effected not just by the Light but also the Dark. Ozma and Salem are eternal because of Light but Salem also bathed in the waters of the Dark. Even if they weren't cursed, it wouldn't be inconceivable that it effected them. Saying they were reincarnated like Ozma but without their memories, while a touch of a stretch, was not impossible.

  • @SailorRemnant
    @SailorRemnant Год назад

    I do believe that the very first girls Past Oz gave those powers were the reincarnations of his daughters, but not any of the maidens that came after them. I think the girls inherited a diluted, temporary version of their parents' curse. Instead of just being immortals who reformed like Salem or people whose consciences kept finding other fully formed adults and teens to blend with like Ozma's, I think their reincarnation actually involved a complete rebirth into the bodies of brand new baby girls with no memories of their previous life. I also suspect that they don't reincarnate anywhere nearly as frequently as Ozma, so those first maidens may have been their only reincarnations.

    What if the original maidens are the children of one of the girls, then it would make sense that ospin gave them powers.
    Another theory would be that the girls were the daughters of ospin but, since ospin's power of giving power is from the god of light and Salem's powers are from the god of dark Salem might have the power to take power. So if we assume Salem might have taken the girl's powers, then that would make them powerless and weak. Since they would be weak Salem wouldn't want them any more, they would go wandering the world. They find a hermit and want to help him. They help him, not knowing that he is their father. Ospin not knowing they are his daughters, because they don't have magic, gives them new powers because the girls act like and look like his daughters, also are very kind, and that is how the sisters the power of the seasons.

    As much as I would like to agree with this theory, there's also the possibility that Ozpin and Salem's daughters are the beings in the four relics. I know that there's not enough evidence to support it, but I find it uncanny that the oldest daughter wears blue has chains around her waist and and in her hair, similar to Jinn's character design.

  • @galxct6868

    What if they ran away and survived, adopted by a travelling family and so ozpin was left to die and reincarnate. The eldest was smart enough to hide her powers like Elsa to conform. Ozpin is now a man and him and the girls are aging so they are young ladies and he is old. The story is true and he passes on powers to them as they reminded him of his daughters and kept the only good of his family alive by spirit. The sisters saw what evil was first hand and chose not to go down that route and there you have the 4 maidens. With all the debris from the fight ozpin could've assumed the death of his daughters, not being able to bare looking for the bodies of his young daughters. That way he wouldn't be hiding the fact that they were alive because he genuinely did not know and didn't think of the possibility of them surviving. We all saw the mess it made and it was a lot but the eldest did have magic to protect her and her sisters. They could've even snuck into hiding during the beginning because as we saw in the episode when the fight occured only salem and ozpin was in the scene. Every person relevant to either the characters or the plot had an actual death and not some kind of disappearing act. Like mentioned, no bodies means you do not assume they're dead. Except Torchwick...he is confirmed dead.

    A weird theory here , the daughters were the original maidens , but not because their actions but because the powers they caried were meant to be , once they did die copies of those powers returned to both parents , and over time Ozpin found 4 sisters that reminded him of his daughters , so he gave his gift to them in hope to rebuild his lost family , but with out Salems gift they will never be .

    What if the magic was alive it could be passed to a person to another person. Magic never dies. So it's the magic that passes on to the next and it put with a curse could technically fit. If Ozpins curse was inherited but did not function the same as his, it could explain how it is passed.

  • @stephsdlnthms3957
    @stephsdlnthms3957 5 лет назад

    Ok, so here is my guess (theory). The daughters WERE the "original" maidens. But, when killed, thier powers went to girls with similar souls to thier own. Now, why would the power do that? Well, magic only disappeared from the world because the dark god took it away from humans. He took the magic, which he had first gifted,but out of the world with him. But since he has already left, magic which exists in the world will remain in the world, unable to return to it's original creator. The magic looks for a host which is closest to its original host, the young maidens. As for the fairytale, that's the story Pyrrha knew, not necessarily the truth, even if it has elements of the truth. And I figure that when Oz got older and figured out what the Maidens were he made it a point to protect them. While at the same time, Salem would want to control them, which explains why she's ended up helping Cinder become a maiden.
    As for the maiden and silver eyes, I think of them as distant relations. Maria said silver eyes are gifted from the god of light, who is also the one who returned Oz and set him on this mission. So I'm thinking the silver eyes are the descendants of Ozpin throughout the ages. But the maidens powers are magic, gifted from the dark god. So they are both gifts bestowed from one of the gods, both linked back to ozpin, and both able to grant incredible power.

    What if they’re both true? The kids were the maidens, born with magic that must itself reincarnate. When they died, that night the last person they thought of was their dad, ospin, so he gained it, in addition to his normal magic. Then in a later life he gave the powers to the maidens in the story, for the reasons you said.
    It would make sense as then he had that power to give away in the first place. Otherwise ospin could gift out magic on a whim, (which he would do to fight Salem otherwise)
