    This was an intense & skilful groom!! Much respect for being able (& willing) to work with this poor, frightened little dog. It's clear the pain from his ears must have been so *awful* that it significantly affected his usual demeanour. As soon as that nasty infection is treated & clears up, I hope he'll be happier in accepting your attention to his ears (& face) as he didn't appear to be inherently aggressive, just in pain & scared... 🤕 What I LOVED was how you talked to him throughout, your voice was very reassuring & soothing, which most likely prevented an escalation in his aggression, he was just in a *really bad place* poor little guy & I hope he didn't have to wait long before getting the treatment he needed to feel better really soon... ღ

    I may not always agree with all your grooming tactics but you do a wonderful thing for a great many dogs. Love the duck muzzle.
    I know the job gets harder, farther into the groom. They go from feeling completely miserable to being able to move, and see, and walk, and feel parts of their body they haven't felt in some time. That coupled with a bath!!!
    I know how good I feel after a haircut or a bath... dude!!!
    My hat goes off to you.

    We have a rescued yorkie and I know he has the same issue with his nails being clipped. We think that he was abused with some sort of clicker sound. It just sends our poor little guy to shaking. Our groomer muzzles Peanut also. And like you said someone probably cut his claws to the vain and hurt him. I learned so much from this video you were wonderful with Coconut. Thank you.

    That duck muzzle made me laugh! Thank you for posting these videos! I'm a new viewer, I've been mostly self teaching myself as I go along, practicing on my two shih tzus (poor little dudes lol). I worked in a shop as a bather for a few years and was taught little things here and there. These are so helpful and its great to see a patient groomer showing grooms all the way through.

    such a beautiful dog, most people I know think that dog aggression is based on breed. But the dog is just scared, even the calmest labrador will snap if frightened enough, its just terriers tend to do it louder :)

    Nice job as always! Poor little man just didn’t want any pain but I loved your towel technique and the fact that you didn’t press for the ear clean out. If he feels like he can trust that you won’t hurt him I have a feeling that aggression is going to stop the more you groom him.

  • @TheBluewaterBlonde
    @TheBluewaterBlonde 4 года назад +1

    What a sweetheart. The only time I saw him get aggressive were with the toenails, someone has obviously hurt him before, and with his ears, which are probably painful due to infection. Otherwise, I saw him pick up his legs to help the groomer reach his belly and be cooperative throughout the body haircut. If people are going to allow ear infections like this without catching it and taking their pet to the vet before it gets this bad then they shouldn't own pets. He's adorable, lots of people would love to have him for a pet, including me.
    BTW Yorkies do not have an undercoat and have hair like humans, usually fine hair. Matts show how long the Yorkie has been brushed, because usually you will get a tangle first like a little knot, which leads to matting with other tangles and that takes a long time to happen. I put a pullover sweater on my Yorkie a few times a year in Winter which can really tangle the hair on a long-haired Yorkie and must be brushed out immediately when the sweater is removed to get rid of those little tangled knots.

    I’ve been getting my mom’s yorkie used to scissors, just about every time I would see him, 3 times a week. I would show him the scissors and calmly cut his hair a few times before he would get upset. It’s been at least a year, he is soooo much better but he still doesn’t like the sound of them around his ears. My sister was just watching this video ( I sent her your channel) and she said, “she could trim Baxter.” Lol. Too bad you are in the next state from ours. You do great work. Love your videos.

Dede has a real love for what she does and I really believe with time he will come around he’s just scared and it’s there only way to tell you. He did great overall didn’t he xx

    I have a yorkie too. I do my own grooming of him.My Timmy act the same way about his feet.Timmy is just as bad if not worse. At least this dog allows you to trim the hair on his feet without aggression. If I touch his foot he growls. Does not like his face messed with either, especially around his mouth and under his chin.

    My mom brought home a Shi Tzu that was covered in fleas that spread to our cat in minutes and the mats were extreme. (Turns out the dogs owner never groomed her and her husband sold the dog to my mom cause she wasn't being taken care of.) I shaved her down cause the fur was severely matted. I can tell it hurt a bit (nicked skin but she didn't bite me. She grabbed the clippers and gently pulled it away. More than once

    • @Cat-tastrophee
      @Cat-tastrophee 6 лет назад +1

      A lot of Americans don't even know what some dog breeds look like with tails, so they just assume the tail is supposed to be docked. I didn't know what a corgi looked like with a tail until I saw an Instagram account for a British corgi, which is a shame because a corgi's tail is beautiful. People are funny that way -- they want the look to match their expectations.

    • @Ronibearable
      @Ronibearable 6 лет назад +2

      Kira corgi is not a breed, it's a description. The actual breeds are Pembroke Welsh (corgi) and Cardigan Welsh (corgi). You may have seen a Cardigan. Cardi's have long tails and are not docked for breed standard. The Pembroke can be born with a natural dock due to a gene, but not all have this gene. Breeders may elect to breed dogs with this short tail gene in areas where docking is outlawed, others are docked as pups where allowed by law. In general the word corgi means dwarf or small, so the term "Pembroke corgi" means "dwarf Pembroke", Pembroke being the breed and corgi being the description. Like "chocolate Lab" ... the breed is Labrador and chocolate is the description. Pembroke and Cardigans are ranked as the one of the smartest breeds, and Cardi's are often used for herding cattle if you can believe that haha. Cause the cows kick over the dog's head so injuries are rare. Always makes me laugh!

    Goodness I just came upon the part where you talked about prickly hair. I groomed my yorkie for the first time ever 2 days ago..and after I cleaned up I kept feeling itchy even under my shirt Like I was being mildly pricked everywhere... I couldn't figure out for the life of me what that was. I did not use a mask because I didnt know that until watching your video that it was important. I guess prickly hair not only got my body but got into my lungs as well. The crazy part is, I have tons of masks due to the corona virus situation. Im mortified right now.
