I have a Maltipoo and I brush him everyday and I'm chronically ill. There are days that I am so sick it's hard for me to brush him. When i'm having bad days I try not to go past 2 days without brushing. It makes it so much easier on him when he gets groomed. He is comfortable with anyone touching him anywhere, because I have to trim him also on his eyes, private parts, and butt in between grooming so he doesn't get an infection or poop on his butt. I'm always touching his feet and loving on him. So he is so good when he is groomed. It's so important if you have a dog that needs to be groomed to always brush them and just maintain them. If you are not willing to do the work or have the time please think again before buying a dog with lots of hair that needs to be brushed. It hurts them when they are matted. Sorry it just bothers me when I see people blame groomers when their dog is matted. They should've been brushing this poor dog. Sorry if I affended anyone it's just my opinion.
I agree with you 100%. I appreciate what My Favorite Groomer is trying to do- to help clients feel at ease and educate them. On the other hand, I feel like these owners played the victim card a little too much and kept blaming all the groomers. I don't think it was the groomers' fault that this dog showed up *this* matted. These dogs take daily maintenance. Not trying to shame the Owners- there is no doubt they love their dog. But it's not a black/white issue. It's not "us versus them". I guess it takes a village lol. I don't think your comment is offensive at all- you really do need to brush these dogs daily.
@@stephaniegray3083 - I also deal with multiple chronic issues and constant challenges. I love cats, but I know my limits and I am LAZY! When I go to the SPCA to apply as a cat servant, I pet those cats and pet those cats and I try my best to get a short haired cat that doesn't shed much. It makes life easier. I have a cat that has fur so short, when he "puffs up," only his tail and a mohawk down his back actually puff up! But he still has fine fur that mattes up. If I find a matte (first of all, its still small!) and I grab one of my plastic disposable dermaplaners and just ease it out. Those things are great for mattes and no hurting your pet, they are very easy and quick. And Stephanie, if you're still dealing with pain, check out kratom. sometimes when you groom an old dog thats been like that its whole life, the best option is to do the groom as quickly as possible to not prolong the process.
In a perfect world that would be wonderful. However much like in the horse world it’s not the farriers job to train your horse to accept having their feet handled. They are there to trim and shoe! It’s the owners job to say that behavior is not acceptable and to fix the issue. It’s the same with dogs! You can’t fix negative behavior at the groomer if your not working at home between grooming appointments. If more pet parents would take the time to learn when to release pressure most if not all of these problem dogs would have the behavior corrected. For me I train all my animals to not struggle when their being restrained. I’ll flip them over on their sides and just hold them there until they surrender and relax. Then instant release and praise. They learn real fast that the fastest way to get release is to relax. See animals don’t learn from the pressure but rather the release of the pressure. It’s knowing how to look for the slightest try and releasing the pressure. This is how I can train a 1200# horse to willingly give me its feet and to accept a saddle and rider. This dog clearly missed the restraint part of training. When you fail to teach a dog that being restrained is not a bad thing you get a dog who fights for its life. It’s the fight or flight response. If you can’t flee you fight! This entire groom was done with the dog in fight mode as she could not flee. This dog hasn’t learned the third often missed response which is surrender. It’s much easier to overpower a small dog so teaching them to find that release gets skipped. Try that with a horse and you will get hurt. If I were training this dog I would start with basic restraint. Then follow up with growl and bite is not ok. And then follow all that up with basic obedience. And grooming. A 10 minute session 2x or more a day working on little things works wonders in getting holes in the animals foundation training filled and patched. Theirs no such thing as a dog too old to learn new tricks.

Geees Louise. Dede why do you keep interrupting the doggy parents. I can't stand to watch this episode because I feel so bad for the parents. You ask a question and before their first sentence is out of their mouth you go on talking and talking. Sorry but this was a fail to me.
@@KimPatts I am beginning to thin your right. It's like she knows she is the expert and know much more than any owners. They are the for a simple cut not to be degraded.
Y’all that poor dog is in extreme pain. Dede has to be firm with these owners, even if it’s not their fault. These are new clients and they need to know they can’t let it get this bad again. This is a serious issue and it needs to be treated like one. Plus this dog is on edge and she needs everyone’s attention to groom her, Dede is doing her best to get everyone where they need to be.
I love watching you. I work in customer service and i have to say, you do talk alot and you cut your customer's off and the customer cannot finish a thought without you saying something or leading them into what you want them to say.. My doctor did that to me while i was in the hospital and she had answer answer before the question or before i could finish my sentence. She was not listening properly. IDk if you aware you do it, but it's quit annoying. Still love watching you just not as often as i use to.
I agree. She seems so aggressive and acts like people should already know how to hold their pets during a grooming. Literally swatted that woman’s hand away when she wasn’t even about to get bit. It seems like she gets a little high strung in tense situations and needs to take a minute and chill out and not take it out on the pet parent
A dog like this, you absolutely need a sedative. Not just because its trying to bite but because this is way too stressful and painful. And no a one time use of a sedative will not cause liver damage. Please dont pretend to be a medical expert. Youre actually causing more damage but not giving him one.
It's amazing to me how much people say they love pets...until it's time to take care of them. Dede you did a wonderful job as always. Love your videos. ❤
God bless those pet parents. They have such good intentions and listen to their gut instinct! So glad they found a good groomer! I think Little will do better with each groom now that she's with Dede. Once the mats are gone, she will calm down

brittany jones I never said that. Don’t put words in my mouth. Obviously Little Bit wasn’t enjoying this groom either, but it wouldn’t have been this bad if she hadn’t been turned away from her previous groomer. Not to mention the fact that she’s an elderly rescue that just walked into this elderly couples home one day. There’s no telling what her history was before that. Or what happened at her last groom that had her so worked up they couldn’t even trim her tail. Like I said. Obviously haters aren’t listening to the entire story. Or even reading comments properly apparently... 🙄
brittany jones not to mention Dede is basically the last resort for these types of traumatized grooms. No One Else would groom her, so she’s a tangled matted mess. The poor darling would have just gotten worse over time. If Dede didn’t complete the groom the matts and tangles would just get longer and deeper. None of this was Dede's doing originally. She was just cleaning up what other bad groomers turned away. Do yourself a favour and actually pay attention to the video. 🤦🏻♀️

Why do people let their dogs get in such horrible condition???? They obviously love her. No doubt. But I sure hope they walk away knowing that they MUST get her groomed every three weeks or start brushing her daily at home.
They were having problems finding a groomer that would take her. Now that they found Dede, I'm pretty sure it wont be in this condition next time she comes in
Thanks Stevie. Just wish they had the sense to brush her a little bit daily. I know the mom seemed upset at them not doing so. It’s just so hard to see...poor fragile little baby.

There seems to be cases where there is rebound anxiety because they are still worried about what is going to happen but the sedation reduces their ability to fight back and feel powerless
i gotta say those pet parents seem just darling. uninformed maybe, it seems like a lot of older people are uninformed about how to care for a dog especially the coat, but you can tell they really care for her.
If the vet gave her acepromazine as a sedative the level of sedation is so variable for each dog and it limits their ability to regulate their body temperature. I have seen St Bernards get knocked out on one tablet while an Australian Cattle Dog was given 5 tablets with little to no effect. It depends on the metabolism of the dog and in tiny dogs I wouldn't use it at all.
She stated that she was too small for a muzzle the smallest muzzle wouldn't fit... I think yhe smallest one she has is a cat muzzle and it was to large... but did you see her face it is tiny
I scissor cut my yorkies. I wish I could’ve gotten them used to the razor cut when they were puppies. Now my back is bad and sitting on floor with them is not good for me. Mine don’t bite but will act skittish if they are not used to something. I’ll start taking one by one to groomer. Now I’m scared something can happen at the groomers like razor cuts. I’ve seen the horror pictures.
Having the pet parents present while grooming a nervous dog is a BIG NO NO. The dogs are waaayyy more stressed. A groomer should be able to do it alone. Possibly with a co-worker helping out in some cases. Take it slow and work together with the dog, and it will be much better than this shit show. I am a groomer, I've groomed for a good while, I've had extremely difficult dogs, but I've NEVER had the owners there since it makes it much worse. So many wrongs in the way this woman is working. And I feel sad that people who aren't groomers don't know this. Oh well. I don't even know why I'm here. I truly hope that DeeDee will improve and stop yelling and stressing the dogs up. Eitherway, the dogs doesn't need to be matted anyway. But it can be done better..
There’s really no excuse for a dog to get in this condition and behave like this. It’s their responsibility as owners to train her. Brush that hair and bath her regularly, then they would not have issues finding groomers!
I never liked watching your videos, but I have tried. you know the poor dam dog is miserable so why don't you go ahead & cut the dogs hair. no you want to stand there running your mouth & trying to tell them how to take care of their dog witch you should. but do it after you trim the dag. don't make the dog any more miserable that it already is by prolonging her state of mind. you can always give the lesson after you are through. just get it done.
This was to Hard to watch 😢😞😟😥 I'm always thinking theses older dogs will have a HEART ATTACK right on the table especially little ones, there always more nervous and frightened,,,de des energy was off this time ,always talking and nervous herself of being bit by a toothless dog,,we have one they gum ya no pain , poor dog and parents
@joshua dugas have u ever groomed a dog horribly matted to the skin is the only way to stop the Matt from pulling the skin it has to be released. Lucky there was no infections bacterial or fungus. That dog has been in constant pain! This is not only a relief from pain once is over. The sores can now heal. I have done some grooming. Dede if I am wrong in your eyes please correct me.
I love my old dog. That's why I let her get extremely Matted. Then take her to an aggressive groomer. At this point, this dog should have gone to a vet. Where they could have gave her a sedative and monitored her while being groomed. Sorry, but this was causing her way to much stress. Poor pet parents didn't know how terrible this was. This makes all groomers look bad.
Her parents need to give her more attention. Like Grooming, taking her for walk with proper leaching. Let her get used to socializing. Most of all, please do not wait a year to bring her to be Groom. Keep Smiling.
Angela Hendry I used to work at a groomer and we would get bit every once in a while but usually the second a dog shows any sign that they might bite then we would go ahead and put a muzzle on, so that helped avoid many bites. But there were a lot of dogs that sure did attempt to bite us so if you are not careful you could get bitten quite often.
I heard her say “the walk is essential” and that is soo true! I can’t tell you how many people would drop their dog off on the way to work and they didn’t walk them first and they would end up using the bathroom either I int holding kennel or even worse during the grooming!! Please dog owners out there, make sure your dog poops before they go to the groomer!
Our dog looks just like this dog and she’s a Maltese cocker spaniel mix. When you skip a day brushing they will get mats, her skin has spots all over just like this dog. They are so cute but my dog isn’t crazy like this one. This one obviously has been traumatized by something. I’m betting getting the pet parents out of the room would help a lot. My vet won’t let my wife in the room when he is seeing ours because she acts crazy with my wife in there but is calm and relaxed when I’m in there.
When the woman just nips at Dede "You hold her chin here!" Get it together woman, you haven't taken care of your dog and need to take responsibility. Listen to your experienced groomer and do what she says. What a fanny.
...This is absolutely horrific to watch!!! Even the mom asked you to "please talk to her" @ one point. You don't listen to ANYONE!!! I'm guessing thts why every pup gets shaved. Tht poor baby was scared senseless...You did absolutely nothing but amplify the situation. & I can just imagine how hot tht blade must be after a full 10 minutes of it being over-worked. (Positive reinforcement) is a word I think you need to get close with; Those poor puppies being in your company for over 30minutes is wayyyyy to long. HORRIFIC 🐾
Wow! This isn't correcting the wrong behavior. This is just enforcing it even more. Then you use the loudest clippers. Yeah, this is how you man handle a dog that is already scared.
You obviously never had a miniature poodle before I have had many even mixed they are not big dogs they are a thin breed that is why I never shaved my poodles all the way down I always left some bc the fur makes them look bigger then they are. My Sophia had the thinnest legs she was part poodle and Jack Russell and no matter how much she ate she stayed the same size
I have a multipoo who is 14 I was referring to that poor girls skin condition not how skinny she was. I will try to make myself more clear. Thank you for reminding me to be more specific when I post. I do forget that sometimes.😊❤
Oh my gosh all three talking at once and Little Bit is in the middle of it all! I’m stressed!

Some dogs really do need sedation they suffer more without it your doing a great job Thank God for people like you to get it done
The owners are so sweet, omgggg
So now we get ads???
she sooooo tiny...awww mom we know you love her
If the vet gave her acepromazine as a sedative the level of sedation is so variable for each dog and it limits their ability to regulate their body temperature. I have seen St Bernards get knocked out on one tablet while an Australian Cattle Dog was given 5 tablets with little to no effect. It depends on the metabolism of the dog and in tiny dogs I wouldn't use it at all.
So melodramatic. Why not just put a muzzle on her instead of causing the owners so much aggravation?
She stated that she was too small for a muzzle the smallest muzzle wouldn't fit... I think yhe smallest one she has is a cat muzzle and it was to large... but did you see her face it is tiny
aggravation? they were fine with it.
6:30 he better get his face out that cone you couldn't blame the dog if she bit him.this is hilarious played at 2x high speed
Obviously had already been opened and restitched!....you could see the obvious stitching when she was first going in with the scissors... not good.🙄
No teeth? How can she bite?..I love her
I scissor cut my yorkies.
You're wasting your time then
happyjj l li dude if u have to stand there an hour together they might as well get educated to be better to their dog
Wow once again, this is just a crazy video.
The woman has a lot of excuses
Oh my god, yak yak yak ! 😖
Dede if I am wrong in your eyes please correct me.
joshua dugas they have to be shaved to the skin when the Matts go all the way down to the surface, there’s no other option
I wish you lived in my town!, Normal, Illinois
I wonder if they called her Lil' Bit from the movie Quiqley Down Under?
I just wonder how many times she has actually been bitten, she certainly has a calming effect on dogs and gets the cut done
This dude needs to just man up and grab here chin hair lol! It’s the only way to successfully hold them somewhat still
I’ll never understand how people let their pups get this bad. I have a 3 year old Shih Tzu who’s never had a matte in his life.
How can they let it get so bad,,, you did great.job ,,,,, you should never be afraid of your own dog
...This is absolutely horrific to watch!!! HORRIFIC 🐾
The groomer is just amazing.
Si te dan tanto miedo los perros por qué tratas con ellos??
Hi Dede
Take no notice of the haters
You did great ❤️🧚♂️❤️
Oh my goodness, you're amazing
Wow, thank you!
Is the little angel with us still ?
Not sure.
Wow! This isn't correcting the wrong behavior. This is just enforcing it even more. Then you use the loudest clippers. Yeah, this is how you man handle a dog that is already scared.
I had a black shiney poodle and her fur was straight apart from her head and she never got tangled once! 👍 ♥
I’ve never seen someone so scared of a small dog especially a groomer !
How can you say I know I'm sorry why weren't you brushing her and taking care of her Excuses Excuses
when you go through death and loss and other life trauma, then you might know, but everyone handles things differently, find compassion.
That poor little girl is not in good shape. I hope they can improve her diet.
That dogo is so cute and little I had one that small once. He was so cool. I
Hey, if she has no teeth as they said, the bite won’t hurt🤓
26:40 love the messy hair style 😄
I’m holding my multipoo real close for this one! She’s my comfort for videos like this one. Hope this baby is doing better! ❤️
